I’m really loving Yovia.com and I’ve just gotten started!

I was introduced to the website when searching for freebies. They have many goodies that they are giving away, mostly to help promote their site; others from Yovia sponsers. I’ve requested everything from jar openers to stuffed animals. All you have to do is provide your shipping information! Today I was greeted with an email letting me know that the freebies I ordered about a month ago will be shipping just in time for the holidays.

Their website is in beta right now, but appears to be functioning just fine. It has a clean look and an organized feel. It’s also not crowded up with a bunch of flashing ads for iffy websites and I have yet to even notice a Google Advertisement. I get the feeling they have some more features they want to add, but so far navigation is fairly intuitive.

Besides having lots of free stuff for the asking, they provide a place to make wishes for things you need or need help with, and you can elect to remain anonymous. (Name and/or email address is optional and they provide you with one simple box to write in, so there’s no pressure for the name of your first born or tax information or anything crazy like that.)

Yovia also provides you with a free WordPress based blog and allows you to have more than one, or none at all. They just ask that you keep it clean and have a “take what you want, but eat what you take” mentality. I just connected my facebook account so that I can participate in money making opportunities, most of them between .50-1.00 for simple activities like following a brand on Twitter or liking a facebook page and making a relevant comment. I also spied a 4.00 opportunity for writing an article, which I will be checking out shortly. They consider their bloggers “contributors” and one of their primary goals is to connect influencers with branded discussions and ignite social media. In the process a whole new economy is created.

With the wash of various flavors of social media sites out there, it takes a lot to grab my attention and impress me. In this case it took about a month for me to really start poking around the website, but they have my attention now and this one might just be a keeper if they decide to keep it real.

I decided not too long ago to take in my sister’s cats because after her accident keeping up with them was just becoming too hard for her. She’s a really strong woman but mobility has become an issue so there was nothing for me to do but take the little things. I can’t say I’m a cats person – I never really have been – but you know, when you love your family you do what’s best.

I went to http://HOMEsecuritySYSTEM.COM to get an alarm to detect fire and even carbon monoxide because I knew if anything ever happened to her little guys my sister would just lose it. But anyway, they’ve actually really improved my life and I can’t wait until I get to have a dog, too!

I’m slowly talking my sister into it but I think she’s scared the cats will freak out. I mean, they probably will at first but I figure after time they’ll get used to it. They’d have to get used to it eventually, right? Am I right, guys?

The last thing you want is him feeling like your trying to take charge and settle for the status quo instead - your living room.

If you’re serious about your peace, you’ll want a port-a-potty. They’re cheaper than you think, and this will add to the “tailgate party” feel.
You’ll also need electricity; don’t worry, he and his buddies will figure it out.
They’ll need a TV, but chances are if your house is THEE football spot, you’ve already got that. You might also want to consider a projector television, using a wall as the screen. This will make for one less heavy thing to move.
A refrigerator or coolers will also be critical. I’d shoot for encouraging coolers. Friends will want to bring along their own treasure chest of booty. Again, this contributes to the “tailgate party” feel.
A few dim bulbs will be helpful. The best place to start looking is your collection of LED Christmas lights, but also check novelty catalogs and thrift shops.
As for chairs, you can go the “bring your own” route. This additional preparation for guests will add to the anticipation of the festivities.
You might want to even offer to assist in creating a 50 yard line in the grass, within the confines of the tent of course.
As far as food goes, the obvious answer is BBQ! They’re already outside and no pseudo-tailgate party is complete without the smell of burgers and kielbasa.

In the end your only task may be gathering the supplies during your shopping trip and washing up a few dishes.

You get back the house, for a whole afternoon and evening, to do just about anything! Remember those hobbies you haven’t had time for in ages? Maybe you’ll even have the quietude to write that book you’ve been meaning to get to, or finally learn how to paint. Perhaps you’ll be happy just to be able to enjoy a movie marathon or spend quality time with the kids, all because of one simple canvas tent.

I guess that it was from the hurricane last week, but we got a pretty big storm in our area. Not as big as a hurricane but enough to make me start grabbing the emergency supplies just in case the lights went out. Our house did take a little bit of damage, so I wanted to go ahead and address it as soon as I could.

A branch went through our kitchen window and I thought that while we were at it, we could find a deal on replacing all of our windows. when I was researching that I came across the site www.homeproimprovement.com. After I looked through it a little bit I decided to go through them to get all of our windows replaced.

Our old ones were pretty drafty anyway and I'd been waiting around for something like this to happen so that I could get all of those taken care of. Sometimes I just can't justify little projects around the house unless it's to handle something that needs attention immediately and there are other things that can be fixed at the same time.

Remote viewing is a tool you can use to improve your life. It is a tool that must be earned on a regular basis with practice and fine-tuned by honorable use. It is not glamorous, not a particularly exciting process to go through, not something to pick up when the rare mood strikes you, or a useless star-streaked ride through wondrous astral planes. Perception based remote viewing is an attention management skill.

Remote viewing can be used to find out just about anything. The most practical way to spend your time in session is to discover information that will help improve your life, and perhaps the lives of others. Sure you could attempt to find out if you should keep seeing some guy, or when the next big earthquake is going to occur, but you could also find out your next best employment opportunity; or what you should be doing to obtain optimum health; perhaps even work with others to find missing children and assist in their recovery; or discover the method to develop the next bestselling widget to help improve the quality of a sick person’s life half way around the world.

People have all kinds of wild ideas about what a session might look like. It is not meant to appear “artistic” or feel “other worldly” but is more a data gathering function that results in a simple diagram with simple shapes and words that help describe what is going on. Most people that start out only have simple lines, angles, circles, rectangles and motion indicators, and some basic words that help describe what they are seeing (and that’s the way it should be when you first get started.)
You spend roughly 45 minutes sitting still in a chair, recording your perceptions in a very orderly way. It’s quite boring to watch and most serious remote viewers want to be alone while they do this to avoid distractions showing up in session (except for those that use a monitor as is the case with some CRV based methods).

There is a wealth of information hidden in simplicity. I have known quite a number of non-remote viewers who seem put off by the S.T. (site template) of a session, the final result of the data gathered. It may not look like much, or just come off as a jumble of simple drawings surrounded by words with nothing immediately standing out as anything of interest. Once you have learned the basics of remote viewing, it becomes quite easy to read and have an idea of what is being portrayed, just as an electrician or architect can immediately make sense of blueprints.
It takes months or years of steady practice to walk into session day in and day out, able to draw and describe something in such great and accurate detail that anyone looking at, including yourself, is almost always able to name it and explain what is going on or what is the significance of that object.

If you are in search of an unknown, as is often the case with a cue based remote viewing assignment, you may feel lost at first when trying to make sense of the final product. Greater understanding often is gleaned by providing yourself with feedback: by viewing the photo or reading the cue. It is then that two and two make four. Even with simple photos provided after the completion of a practice session, there are often a number of “aha” moments. It’s these moments that help us to improve.

For group projects only certain data is relied upon: that which repeats itself over at least 2 remote viewer’s sessions for the same assignment. Through trials it has been shown that information gathered in this way approaches 100% accuracy. If you complete a session twice, (preferably blind to the fact that you are completing the same session an additional time) you can usually take the data that repeats and rely on that to help you make decisions. Of course, common sense should always prevail.

There are simple techniques you can use when setting up your “blind assignment basket” so that you can complete a session on the same assignment twice and not know that you are doing so. This is a slower way of gathering information, but also results in the ability to keep an important project private as well as knowing which information gathered is most reliable.

There are many misconceptions about what remote viewing is and what it is related to in application, form and function. Perception remote viewing is not channeling or meditation or happens as a result of emptying your mind or relaxing or listening to sound, nor is it dowsing or astral projection. No amount of supplements, mantras or subliminal tapes are going to make you able to RV or cause you to have a spontaneous “RV experience” or improve the quality of your work. Only practice, observation and following protocol will cause you to improve. In terms of practicality, it is worlds away from the value astrology reports or tarot card readings can provide (I used to be paid to do both, but have completely quit them).

On a side note… I was very “oh look a squirrel” before I began and would want to scrap sessions left and right for the first six months because I was realizing I had so much brain chatter it was hard to focus. I worked through it and just kept practicing. Now it’s easier for me to focus even when I’m not in session.

Remote viewing requires a commitment to yourself. You must also know why, deep down inside you want to learn and why you want to have this skill at your disposal. You don’t have to have romantic notions of changing the world, but you have to believe yourself and have a strong conviction that keeps you going when times get tough.

The easiest part of remote viewing is learning the basic rules. If you are not sure yet if remote viewing is right for you, I suggest just jumping in and learn the basics, while letting yourself know it’s fine if you want to pull back after your initial training to evaluate if this is something you want to be a part of your life, to integrate into your own being, like any other skill or hobby. That time after someone learns to go through the motions and can stumble through a complete session is when a large majority of people either decide they love it or can leave it. The water’s warm, so pull up your skivvies and take the plunge. You won’t melt, I promise.

What I Learned from Picard: Never Give Up

I learned many lessons from Star Trek: The Next Generation. I even wrote an English Composition paper about the lessons contained within Star Trek and ST: TNG during my short stint in college.

There have been many times in my life when dealing with tough situations that I have played this scene in my head, where Picard's persistence finally shows it's fruit - he is to be returned to the Enterprise. It reminded me to be brave, never give up and stick to my guns.

I sum up the lesson I learned from Picard like this:

Never compromise what is in your heart for temporary relief and comfort.

Back then I hadn't accepted Jesus into my heart, but I can never deny my past. When I was barely a teenager I began my study of the deeper messages embedded in most of the Star Trek episodes, like I study passages in the Bible today. Those lessons pulled me through some tough times in my young life. I know from attending several conventions, there are millions of people out there that feel the same way.

If you ever need to feel an overwhelming sense of hope and don't feel comfortable attending a church - go to a Star Trek convention with an open mind and let yourself feel the collective love and warmth shine through all those that attend.

American Idol

American Idol is one of the hottest competition shows on http://www.directstartv.com. If a person wants to truly see how to make it in the world of professional singing, then American Idol offers that insight. This is truly a fabulous show and I highly recommend it to anyone. I have seen countless episodes of "American Idol" on my satellite tv, and I never regret watching this fabulous show.

American Idol is a dynamic show which features young and talented singers competing against one another to gain the coveted spot of the "American Idol." The singers compete on this show by performing various new songs every week. The singers have to compete by giving their own renditions of classic songs by the likes of Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and other famous celebrities. I have become a fan of many of the singers that have gone on to win the competitions on American Idol. For example, Kelly Clarkston and Carrie Underwood are some of my true favorites from this show. Another recent favorite of mine from this show is Adam Lambert. He is just so amazing and soulful in his approach to music.

Overall, this show is so amazing to watch. I find this to be an incredibly inspiring show, regardless of whether or not one sings as a hobby. I would recommend this show to anyone who simply enjoys music!

An Open Letter to Blogtalk Radio

Dear Admasters at Blogtalk Radio;

So what's the deal with the LOUD ads that autoplay (before the show) when you get to a page, that you can not stop or pause or mute or adjust the volume on unless you click on the video, and then it opens up another page? What if I wasn't ready to listen to something (anything) at a loud volume at that particular moment and just wanted to open the page? There are a lot of good people on your website, but that lack of control (unless I remember, and open my system sound control prior to clicking, so I can mute the volume) over the annoyingly loud ads that acoustically attack me when I open a page have turned me off for the last time. I just can't bring myself to click on anymore links to your page, it's just too spammy and annoying. Everything else is wonderful. Well not everything, but I can deal with the rest without complaining.

How to Make the Most Out of Your Digital Camera Snapshots

The point of most “snapshot “ photography is to freeze a moment of time to share with others - without being deliberate. Some of the most beautiful photographs were taken spur of the moment, with only seconds between someone seeing something as a keepsake moment, and pushing the button. By following a few simple tips you can allow others to more deeply feel that moment in time you decided was worth sharing.

Making wise decisions when purchasing a digital camera definitely helps, so let’s go over some basics.

The Number Game

There’s something about professional photography that the average person doesn’t think about – for every 20 or even 100 shots, only 1 or 2 may be saved from the recycle bin. When you have built a reputation, there’s no need to show anything but your best work. In other words, even professionals or highly experienced amateurs may have to take many shots in a short period of time to increase their chances of grabbing the perfect photograph eventually revealed to the public.

In the days of film this concept was cost prohibitive, with digital cameras your only limit is the speed of your camera, battery power and memory storage.

Memory

Don’t skimp on your memory. Even if you think you have plenty of room, always carry at least one spare memory stick or flash card with you. This also means investing in a small camera bag with a few small compartments to keep your memories safe and quickly accessible. Digital cameras come with “internal memory”, but you do not want to rely solely on this. Also consider the speed and quality of the storage device. The most reliable sources for “road tested” information on these devices are reviews on photographer’s hobby or professional websites.

Recovery Time

One option that isn’t always listed in the general description is the length of time it takes for the camera to “recover” so you can take another shot. If you want to take quick multiple shots this really is not an option, it’s a requirement. Look for the camera with the fastest “recovery time” you can get your hands on.

Power

You have two options for power – USB charging and replaceable batteries. Batteries can become costly, but if you carry extras you don’t have to worry about missing the shot. You can cut costs over the long term by purchasing several rechargeable batteries and a charger. The only time USB is advisable is if a smaller camera has all the options you are looking for, is extremely power efficient and you are not using your camera for an extended period of time before you can recharge it, such as a vacation or a visit to a museum .

Size

A large camera with every function you think you might ever need may get left at home. A small camera may feel awkward in your hands, or you may not be able to use the menu buttons efficiently if you have larger hands or have mobility issues. It’s all personal preference, so don’t let anyone tell you what’s best. If you don’t mind carrying around a larger camera, and it has what you want, go for it.

Situations

Are you experienced? Some cameras allow you to switch on options such as manual focus and f-stop controls. Other cameras are almost scary smart, calculating conditions and allowing you simply to turn it on and click. Somewhere in between is that camera that lets you tell it what kind of conditions you are shooting in. Before purchasing, take a look at the section of the manual that goes over situational options such as close up, backlit, beach scenes, fireworks, museum and portraits. Ask yourself what you need realistically, and what might slow you down. Remember, you want to have time to take plenty of shots to increase your chances, so you have to ask yourself what you feel you can work with quickly and comfortably.

Flash

If you are often in dim lighting or photographing people at midrange, consider the strength of your flash. Smaller cameras often have a shorter useful range, but not all. If you know you’ll be using a flash often it’s advisable to purchase a camera that uses a battery that must be replaced, rather than charged with a USB. If you are usually outdoors or in places with good lighting, a strong flash is not critical to have, so you can forgo this option if it comes down to it. You may also be able to get away with a smaller battery if you rarely use a flash.

If you are going to be shooting something more than 15 feet away, your flash is pretty much useless. Dig around for reviews pertaining to those particular situations. You want a camera that can handle dim lighting situations. If you are looking through the manual, search for words such as “high ISO”. This is in reference to a camera simulating high speed film used in low lighting conditions. The images will appear grainier, so if you don’t like this, remember it’s better than being blurry. One option to improve the overall aesthetic value of these images is to upload the images to your computer and use some basic software. Try taking the photograph into the world of black and white, turning up the contrast and perhaps even adding more grain to the photo to give it a different feel. You can also go sepia and add a touch of color if it fits the mood of the image. Some cameras even have some of these options built in, either before or after the shot has been taken.

Display

You need to be able to see to line up your shot. If your vision isn’t that great, go for the largest screen you can find. If you’re often in an area with bright overhead lighting or outdoors, find the brightest display available. Be aware that these LCD displays eat up some of the battery power. Some cameras have automated power saving options to turn themselves off or turn off the screen. Consider whether you want to be able to control the timing on these features or if you want the camera to decide for you.

Compare

Having a manual before you buy is helpful when you get down to particular options that may not be clear in a basic online store description. Camera company websites usually have freely downloadable manuals. Sometimes they are hard to find, so if you are having trouble navigating a particular website, try using a search engine. For instance, on Google try entering this search string: site:kodak.com M883 manual (Leave no space between site, the colon and the website; do not use “www”.)

Fully consider your options and comparison shop before buying. In some ways it’s more important than purchasing a car. With a car you know you will still drive it for probably the next four or five years and eventually even the quirks will grow on you. If you become frustrated with your camera, you’ll probably end up leaving it behind, and those treasured memories may not be captured at all.

Is Cloud Bursting Real?

Yes. If you believe you can do it, you can. If you use proven techniques you will have better results. If your intention is clear and steady you will be satisfied you have really affected something too far away to touch with your hands.

Don't take my word for it, try it, research it, practice. If you are skeptical, all the better. I do not mean skeptical in the sense that it is taken by most people today where you have to add the word "healthy" in front of it to get your meaning across. I mean have an open mind and give it a fair shot yourself, WANTING to HONESTLY see results while using a CONSISTENT method.

I've been practicing and getting better everyday. I started off taking photos, but I found it distracting, and also felt like I was just setting myself up to brag, so for now I am holding off with videos and photos as "proof". When I become more comfortable with the idea of having this gift (that we all have) perhaps I will share as a means of inspiration. The truth is, if you want to believe - you will and if you don't - no amount of proof is going to get you to change your mind. You just have to do it and see for yourself.

I highly recommend the new book, Cloud Bursting: Modern Day Rain Makers & Air Benders for a scientific and historical introduction to cloud bursting. Included are step by step instructions and an invitation to join a community of cloud bursters wanting to help improve their environment.
