People want to know what the Mayans have to say about the end of time. But what does Jesus say about this exciting event and when will it happen?

Matthew 24 is one of the most interesting chapters in the Bible. Jesus tells us when the end will come, how it will happen, and what we must do in order to escape the calamity that will befall all of mankind.

I would like to explore in depth this amazing revelation given to us by the Lord Himself.

Jesus had just departed the temple. His disciples had pointed out the buildings of the temple. They were probably admiring the stone work and the permanent and everlasting appearance of the structure. Jesus quickly over turns the illusion and says "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

This statement prompted another question from the disciples. "Tell us when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

Matthew 24: 4-44 describe the signs of His coming and the end of the age.. Jesus says that there has never been such a time as this nor shall there ever be again. Keep that in mind. The world has seen much tribulation in the past but nothing like what is to come. When it's over, there will never be anything like it again! Matthew 24:21.

The signs to show that we have entered this great tribulation period are (1) different people saying that they are the Christ, (2) wars and rumors of wars, famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. (3)Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. (4) All nations will hate those that are called Christians. Jesus says "you will be hated for My name's sake". (5) Many will be offended and will hate and betray one another. (6) Lawlessness will abound and the love of many will grow cold. (7) Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many and the gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Notice that the gospel of the kingdom is different from the gospel of the grace of God. Christ at this point will be returning with His saints not for His saints. He has already received His church. See 1 Thess. 4:13-18. Rev 3:10.

All these things have happened in the past and are still happening. But remember these things will be magnified to an extent that has never been experienced before and will never be again. So we have not yet entered into the great tribulation period, but as we see all these things increasing it would be wise to repent and trust in Jesus. "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man" Luke 21:36. The rapture of the church is the next event to happen on the prophetic timeline. Are you ready? What does it mean to repent and trust in Jesus?

Matthew 24:15-28 is addressing primarily Jewish believers. Notice that those who are in Judea should flee to the mountains. Believers should pray that this abomination of desolation would not take place on the Sabbath when the distance they could travel would be limited. The abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place refers to an idolatrous image that will be set up in the holy place, ie, the temple in Jerusalem.

This abomination of desolation is to be set up in the middle of the week or 3.5 years into the tribulation period.
One week is equal to 7 years. Click here for an explanation. At this time believers in Jerusalem must flee. They are instructed not to believe that Christ has appeared in different places. His next appearance will be as lightning that comes from the east and flashes to the west. There will be much death and destruction. Verse 28.

Then the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give it's light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven. "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man" Luke 21:36. We don't have to suffer this terrible tribulation. How do we escape? Click here.

Matthew 32-35 tell us that Jesus' return is near and assures us that this event will happen and happen quickly.

Notice in verses Matthew 24:36-44 Jesus is coming as a thief and life on earth is quite normal. (People eating and drinking and getting married etc.) In the previous verses 29-31 He is coming on the clouds with power and great glory. The whole world has been torn apart and the heavens have been shaken. Things are not normal.

This has to mean that verses 36-44 happen before verses 29-31. Verses 36-44 explain the mystery of the rapture and verses 29-31 describe the end of the tribulation period.

Matthew verses 45-51 again assure us of Jesus' soon return. We are encouraged to be faithful in doing what He have given us to do. Shrugging off or abandoning His charge will incur dire consequences.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. I believe it has to do with relationship. We need to approach Him on a personal and intimate level. Blazing the story of this healing would have created a super star atmosphere. Jesus knew that people needed a one on one relationship with the creator. Can you be a close friend with a rock star by attending his or her concert? But we can be close friends to Jesus. Click to find out more...

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. He also rudely refused to accept a sign from God that Judah would be delivered from her enemies. He instead chose to trust in the Assyrians, their forces and their gods. Isaiah 7:11-14

Incredibly, many still refuse this sign from God found in Matthew 1:23. They would rather trust in government or their own ability or technology etc.

King Ahaz even went so far as to pass his son through the fires of Molech. Many of us this very day are passing our sons and daughters through the fires of Molech.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. Baxter's "A Devine Revelation of Hell". We were pondering the different things in the book like the smell and how the souls in that place were in continual torment. They cried out to Jesus for deliverance but to no avail. We considered the demons and their roll in tormenting the people. The book states that hell is down in the earth and that the flesh of the people there seems to be full of worms.

As we were pulling onto the freeway on our way home from church, we saw a man standing on the side of the road hitch hiking. I said "shall we pick him up?". She said "yes." This is something we rarely do. As he got in the car we noticed his broken English speech. He said he was a Christian Jew. He said the Lord had told him to tell people about hell. We couldn't believe what we were hearing.

He said that he had died. It was some type of swimming accident. He had a picture of his dead body lying on the beach. During the two hours that he was dead he was in hell. Jesus was with him and asked him if he knew why he was there. Our hitch hiker could say nothing to Jesus. The first thing he noticed was the incredible stench. He said it was like rotten eggs. The next thing he saw were the people. Their flesh hung loosely from their bones and it seemed to be full of worms. They cried out to Jesus to deliver them from the torment of the place but it was too late. They had sealed their fate by not repenting and trusting in Jesus in their lifetime. Then he talked about the demons. He said in his broken English "they eat the fear of the people". At first we didn't understand. Then we realized what he was saying. The demons of that place are strengthened and energized through the torment and fear of the souls there. We don't have to experience this place! Click here...

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. In Romans 11:14 Paul speaks of his desire to save some of them. He relates to them as natural branches of a cultivated olive tree. Some of them were broken off that we, the rest of the world, might be grafted in (vs. 19). Then we are warned not to be haughty, but to fear for if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare us either.

This is a mystery (vs. 25) and we need to accept is as such lest we become wise in our own opinion. We can be cut off and we can be grafted in. Those who are grafted in are predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son. God knows and has always known who these people are.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. Jesus had already performed numerous miracles in their midst. The scribes and the Pharisees believed that these wondrous works were wrought with the help of the powers of darkness. This attitude brought a stern rebuke back in verse 32. "And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come."

God gives us signs and miracles on a daily basis but not all can see or experience them. Jesus said that in the end times, false christs would arise and perform great signs and wonders. Matthew 24:24. So how can we tell if a sign or a wonder is from heaven or from below?

Signs and wonders from above are meant to confirm the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Mark 16:20...And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.
In Deuteronomy verses 1-3... God allows signs, miracles and even paranormal phenomena to prove us, to know whether we love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul. If the person who is effecting the miracle or sign is not using his ability to glorify the true God and confirm His word, then that person is leading people into a false religion. If the paranormal activity doesn't point people to Christ, repentance, and a right relationship with the living God, then the activity is leading people into a false religion. Verses 5-18... Any one or thing that would "thrust" us out of the way which the Lord has commanded us to walk must be identified and revealed. The Christian must divorce himself from such and refuse to acknowledge a person or phenomena that is not glorifying God.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. Their mouths had revealed the intent of their hearts as being venomous. This venom would be injected into unsuspecting prey through ungodly blasphemous words. Jesus says that we will be judged by our words. In verse 36 we discover that even an idle word can provoke judgment.

Idle here is Argos (G692) which means lazy or useless. The wicked and injurious accusations of the Pharisees would invoke divine judgment but Jesus takes the argument a step further. "I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

If we call ourselves Christians, then judge by the fruit if it is true. We've learned that our words reflect the state of our heart. Do our words build up? Do they give grace to those who here them? (Eph. 4:29) Is our speech seasoned with salt so that we may know how to answer a person? (Col. 4:6) Do we guard our mouths and preserve our lives? Or do we open wide our lips and come to ruin? (Proverbs 13:3)

We have a choice. Make the tree good and it's fruit good or make the tree bad and its fruit bad. (Mat. 12:33) Making bad fruit is easy. We've all done it. Making good fruit is more difficult. For this we must surrender our heart and our will to the Lord Jesus. Without repentance, good fruit is impossible. Good fruit will reflect a repentant heart. "Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham." (Luke 3:8)

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. He says that every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not and cannot be forgiven. Again in verse 32... Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Spirit, the Holy One, will not be forgiven , either in this world and age or in the world and age to come.

If we keep this in context with the previous verses, we can see that Jesus is referring to those that are accusing Him of driving out demons with the help of Beelzebub. In short, they are calling the Holy Spirit the devil. There is no repentance or remorse within them. They have totally rejected the Spirit of God. They are not even concerned that they have done so! If one is worried that they might have blasphemed the Spirit then they probably haven't.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. (AMP)

When we look at these verses in context with the previous verses we understand that Jesus was speaking to those who were attributing his works to Beelzebub. To be with Jesus and to gather with Him means that we accept Him and His claim to be the Son of God. We accept Him and surrender our lives to Him.

When we confess our sins and repent, we side with Jesus. When we serve out of love because we are thankful for what He has done for us, we gather with Him.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. His house may be plundered. In 1 Samuel 14 we find Jonathan and his armor bearer trusting the Lord to bind the strong man "The Philistines" in order that they might prevail over them.

Jesus bound the strong man "Satan" and plundered his house "routed his demons". We need to trust Jesus to bind the enemy in our lives. He will do it but we need to believe it, want it, and walk in that direction. Do you really want the enemy's influence out of your life? Submit to Jesus' teaching and let Him change your life!

Let's step out, let Jesus bind the strong man, and do some damage to the enemy!

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. The man was brought to Jesus and He cured him. Immediately the Pharisees start to accuse Jesus. "You did this by the power of Beelzebub, the prince of demons."

Jesus' response and His logic are irrefutable. "If Satan drives out Satan, he has become divided against himself and disunified; how then will his kingdom last or continue to stand?" "But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out the demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you..."

The kingdom of God has indeed come upon us. Today is the day of salvation. Trust now in Jesus while it is still called today. The night will come and it will be too late.. Jesus gave His life so we would not have to experience eternal darkness. What is hell like?

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. Jesus says "be careful that no one misleads you." He goes on to say that many will come in His Name saying that they are Christ and will lead many astray.

One sign of the end times is that many will come and take the Name of Christ and use it to their own advantage. They will take the name of our glorious Savior and appropriate it in an effort to achieve some personal goal. This I think is why today's Christianity is getting such a bad rap and rightly so! The main goal of the church should be to lead people into a personal relationship with the Savior. There can be no greater quest than this!

As the end draws near we will see the emergence of a new all inclusive world church which will cater to the masses. Listen to the audio clip.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. Are you bruised? He will not break you. Do you have but a little hope? He will not cut you off! His will is to heal spiritual sickness and physical sickness. But we must first recognize our need for a savior. We are blind and misguided. We trust in all things but we fail to trust in Him. We have stumbled and fallen into darkness. We must turn to the light and trust in Him while there is still time!

John 9:4...I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work...Accept the free gift of salvation while there is still time. In Matthew 12:2 we see indignant Pharisees condemning Jesus and His disciples for picking spikes of grain on the Sabbath. Jesus reminds them of what King David and his band did when they were hungry. David's rightful place was at the kings table. But because of sin he was forced into exile and hiding. Under these circumstances it was perfectly acceptable for David and his men to eat the loaves of showbread.

Jesus' rightful position is reflected in His name. Jesus (God our Savior) Christ (anointed prophet priest and king). He is Lord of the Sabbath. He created the Sabbath and in Him we find rest for our souls.

Matthew 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. (AMP)

When we repent and trust in Jesus we are fulfilling the new testament definition of keeping the Sabbath.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. I have experienced this phenomenon from time to time. Sometimes I seem to be out of touch with the maker. I don't quite know what is wrong, and I feel everything is crashing in on me. It's during these times I employ the violent assault technique of praying. I seek after Him with all my heart and believe that He will respond. He has not once failed to deliver when I seek after Him in this way.

Jesus goes on to rebuke certain cities for their unbelief.
In verse 27 we are enlightened with another scriptural truth. "No one fully knows and accurately understands the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son deliberately wills to make Him Known." So unless we repent, trust in and adhere to the Son, we cannot know or accurately understand the Father.

In Matthew 11:28 we are invited to relieve and refresh our souls by coming to Jesus and urged into service in verses 29 & 30.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. So there is a persevering and enduring experience that accompanies our Christian walk. In verse 38 Jesus says "He who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me". (AMP)

Taking up our cross simply means adhering to Jesus' teachings and obeying His words. Walking the walk is a yoke, but it's not too heavy and it fits well. As a matter of fact it can't even compare to the load we have to shoulder when we are not walking with Him. If the our burdens are too heavy, Jesus instructs us in Matthew 11:28 " Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [ I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] (AMP) Verse 29 tells us to take up His yoke... Take up His burden... Lay down our burdens... and we will find rest, relief, ease, refreshment, recreation and blessed quiet for our souls. This valley is s/sw of Jerusalem and has quite an infamous past. Here was Topheth where children at one time were offered to the fire god Molech. The people were given to pleasure and not God's word. They would give themselves to sexual indulgence and then conveniently dispose of the fruit of their sin in the fires of Molech. In that time, it was acceptable social behavior. The youngster was viewed as a choice, not a life. This place was later to be called "the valley of slaughter."

Can you just imagine the millions of brilliant young minds that have been snuffed out since the Roe VS Wade decision on January 22, 1973? People with skill, insight, and the ability to navigate through the tough times that we are currently experiencing. Approximately 46 million children have been aborted since the ruling. These are young creative minds that are gone! What if God had a young economic genius in the making? Or a brilliant climatic scientist? Not to mention that 46 million people would contribute significantly to the tax base and help support a retiring baby boom population.

Lord what have we done? I'm afraid we've aborted our own future. God forgive us of our great sin. Join with me and pray for our president. Pray that he would turn from his dreadful decision to support world wide abortion with American tax dollars. Pray that Roe VS Wade will be overturned. Pray with all of your strength because America is well on it's way to becoming the next Valley of Hinnom; the land of the great slaughter.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. They were like sheep without a shepherd. In Matthew 9:35 - 38 Jesus is moved with pity and sympathy for the throngs. The people came out to see the one they had heard about. The miracle worker. They needed what this man had to offer.

Jesus then tells us how to pray. "Pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest." Our prayers should focus on becoming productive harvest workers... and that we would be used effectively to do His work. Sometimes I think that we are on the defensive way too much. Lord protect us from this or that. Deliver me and my family from this or that. Those types of prayers are ok but let's turn them around. Let's go on the offensive. Let's pray like this... Lord, help me be effective in advancing your Kingdom no matter what I'm going through.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. His ministry was and still is one on one. In Matthew 9:27 we find Jesus about the Father's business. Two blind men followed and shouted loudly, Have pity and mercy on us, Son of David!

Jesus asked them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said yes. He touched their eyes and said according to your faith and trust in Me be it done to you. They were healed and Jesus told them not to tell anyone about the healing. But they went out and told everyone so that such a commotion was created that Jesus could hardly continue in the work the Father had given Him.

Jesus' ministry was personal and it still is. He wants a personal relationship with me and you. He could care less about superstardom and crowds of people following Him everywhere. What He is really interested in is a repentant heart. One person who is lost means more to Jesus than 99 who are not lost. Read Matthew 18:12 & 13.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. The ruler believed that Jesus was able to perform this miracle.

Along the way, a woman who also believed grabbed a hold of the fringe of His garment. She new that if she could only touch His garment healing would result. Jesus noticed her faith and remarked, "Take courage, daughter! Your faith has made you well," And at once the flow of blood that she had suffered for twelve years was cured. The woman was restored to health.

We must believe if we are to be healed. Yes Lord, I believe you are able and willing to perform all that you have said in your word concerning me. Your will be done in my life...

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. We fast all the time, they said, but your followers never fast. Jesus replies: "Can the wedding guests mourn while the bridegroom is still with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast." (AMP) So fasting is ok according to Jesus but not commanded.

Jesus also explains how the coming dispensation will differ from the current one in verses 16 and 17. In the new dispensation illustrated by the new wine skin, salvation comes by repenting and trusting in Jesus. If one tries to put the old or keeping of the law into the new, it won't work. Keeping the law doesn't save us. Trusting in Jesus does. We strive to keep the law because we love the Lord. We keep His Word because we are thankful for what He has done for us. Jesus did say in John 14:15, If ye love me, KEEP my commandments. So keeping His commandments is a direct result of our love for Him.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L. A flock of geese had taken out both engines of an Airbus 320 at takeoff. All passengers understood the danger of the situation facing them. Certain death would be the result unless they got help and got it fast. Fortunately the help came in the person of Captain Chesley Sullenberger. He skillfully brings the plane down on the Hudson River. The plane becomes a floating life boat and the people climb out on it's wings and are rescued.

In like manor we the people of this nation are in trouble. The moral decay and the pursuit of material increase with complete disregard of how it affects others has brought us to the vanishing point. We are all on that airplane. We will all perish unless someone intervenes and skillfully delivers us from certain death!

In Matthew 9:9-13 Jesus is accused of associating with especially wicked sinners. His answer: "Those who are strong and well have no need of a physician, but those who are weak and sick."

In other words, we need to understand the great need in our lives and in our country. Unless Jesus intervenes, we will surly perish. I hope you will join me and repent and cry out to the almighty for deliverance and salvation.

noreply@blogger.com (Mark L.
