When it's too hot to wear makeup (but you want to)

Not that I'm complaining, but recently in England it's been pretty warm. That kind of humid heat where you definitely don't want to feel a layer of makeup on your skin. In these situations I am devised a fool proof way of incorporating makeup into my routine without it ending up smudged all over my sweaty face by the end of the day (nice image ey?).

Firstly, no foundation. I simply just apply concealer (I'm loving the Maybelline Fit Me at the moment) or I apply a bronzing primer (either Bourjois or Clarins) and then the concealer. This covers any redness I suffer from without looking or feeling cakey. Brows play an important role in making me feel "put together" so I usually stick to my trusty Mac Eye Brows as I know it will stick around. For eye makeup another Mac product, their Paint Pot in Bare Study but any long lasting cream eyeshadow will do. I add a bit of waterproof eyeliner, I love the Stila Smudge Sticks and finish with curling my lashes and adding my current favourite mascara, L'oreal Miss Manga, which also happens to be waterproof. A lot of the time I skip the lipstick and just apply lip balm but I am loving the Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya for its easy to wear sheer peachy colour.

New lipsticks for summer

I thought I would treat myself to two new lipsticks in some nice neutral everyday colours ready for the summer months. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink in the Afternoon is a cream formulation in a lovely rosey pink colour and Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya is a sheer orangey-coral in a moisturising and glossy formula.

I picked this up in a 2 for £10 in Boots.

Have you got any new lipsticks recently? Any recommendations?

Alternative Father's Day ideas (that don't cost the earth...)

If you are fed up with all the stereotypical Father's Day gifts...

Cook him a nice meal and eat together (maybe World Cup themed if he likes football)
Buy him a selection of second hand books - one that he knows and loves and a choice of your own (write nice messages inside the cover)
Make him a playlist, or an old school mixtape/cd.
Watch his favourite film together and make some yummy snacks
Frame your favourite photo of you together/with family or make a calendar/photo book.
If he is an outdoorsy type - go for a walk together and collect things from your adventure as reminders
Go on a mini road trip together and take a picnic

Just spend some quality time together.

2 in 1 - Blusher + Highlighter combos

Day-to-day I tend to wear either blusher or bronzer and maybe both (if I am really feeling crazy...). I don't really tend to bother with highlighting or contouring unless its a special occasion. Blushers that both add a bit of colour but also a nice glow are really up my street and I wanted to share some of my favourites with you today.

Sleek Blusher in Rose Gold - This blush always comes up in the blogging world but I would say it's justified.. It's a gorgeous brightening pink with a really pretty gold shimmer through it. It tends to change colour the different ways you look at it and sometimes seems very pink and sometimes very gold.

Look Beauty Blusher in Flush - I don't hear a lot about Look Beauty but I have a few products from them and they are all great quality. This blusher is a lovely shimmery coral however you have to apply this with a light hand as it is super pigemnted and a little powdery. For pale skin I would even say this is a 3-in-1 as it can double up as a bronzer on me.

Dainty Doll Cream Blusher in 002 Orange County Girl - This is very similar to the Sleek blush but in cream form and I would probably say it runs a little more gold. I picked this up for a very decent price on Ebay (they have a lot of other Dainty Doll items)

ELF Blush in Glow - In terms of colour I would say this was a mixture of the above. As the colour suggest it really does add a glow and it's a lovely colour to wear on holiday with a bit of a tan.
