1st Jan 2112

President of Earth

My fellow human beings, our species has long feared an alien civilization of attacking us, resulting in the end of human civilization. That very moment has arrived, in the last 2-3 decades we have seen continuous attacks from aliens. The fundamental question of dealing with these aliens is not of a technological nature but of a moral and ethical nature.

We all know these aliens were part of human civilization just 100 years ago until they decided to break apart from being a civilized human civilization. They denied themselves from getting registered on the Human Identification Database (HID) citing privacy concerns, migrating to hills and jungles cutting themselves from the greatest human invention of Social Media. This species is not on our network, we can't trace them using GPS, we can't trace their thought history on Facebook and Twitter. Moreover we have no idea what they eat and inhale. Google is all we can do but then again this species is completely offline and highly de-localised. Street View is of no importance as Google is yet to implement Hill View. I simply don't understand this, we have scanned every rock on Mars but still these parts are left out.

We have visualized many wars with aliens in movies and literature in the last 200 years but we never thought a species from within us will emerge, one that is highly unsocial, unwilling to use life saving tools like iPhones and BBs. Without social interaction they are at a serious risk of genetic disorders, causing mental diseases, posing further danger to human civilization.

We must recognize the fundamental need of human beings is to be social, that's why we have religions, society and family. We must interact with each other, that's why we have GRIDS of Human Identification Database (HID). Our forefathers - Obama, Jobs and Zuckerberg to name few; invested trillions of dollars on it. They knew this is the most fundamental part of being human and any species getting out of it, should be alien to human civilization. Today we have every single dog, common fly, mosquito and cockroach on GRID, we are better prepared to protect our children and give them a better future than what our forefathers had.

We had envisioned an ever smiling society that is connected at a thought's length to every human need with our GRID and HID systems. Today we can proudly say we have materialized this vision. And just because of a few unaccounted sub human species we are risking our greatest investments on human society.

These are difficult questions and answers are even more difficult, as always we need to look back at our great past; our history of not just 2-3 thousand years; but our history since our great evolution as a Human being. We all know how Neanderthal posed a serious risk to human civilization some thousands of years ago and how our great forefathers exterminated them. I know this is a painful decision but we have taken great pains in providing a secure and brighter future for our children. We cannot let them slip into the chaos of anti-social behavior just because we don't have the moral strength of answering hard ethical and moral questions.

It's time we should reiterate our faith in Society and take a bold decision to preserve the very fabric of human civilization – to stay connected. On my orders today, the 1st of Jan 2112 at 0800 hrs United Earth's Special Social Group launched a scathing and surgical attack on these anti social species in the hills of continents across Earth. These attacks will continue until this species relent to register themselves on HID. We do not expect a single human life to be lost in these operations. This underlines our commitment to being social and respect for human life.

God Bless Humans, Thank You.

My daughter is
sick. And like any other father I feel like crying. I had raised her with my
own warmth, affection and blood. She has never been like that, she had
infections in the past but they were never that serious. In fact they added to
her beauty but this time it’s getting stinky.

There are scars and warts all around her body. She
smells so awful at times. Her baby looked at her carefully recently, like he does
ever since his birth, and said to me "Mama seems to be infested by 7 billion
parasites all around her body". And he said to me that Mama's parasite
have tried to infest him too in the past and he suspects that they have spotted
other family members too for future infestation.

They are multiplying irrationally. But then that's
not the problem, she has always been a host to millions of other parasite types
but none made her sick. This particular two legged parasite with flat nails
seems to be killing her with thousands of toxins. I am really worried about
her. I have asked her big brother, who lives little far away to get some
antibiotics from far off places and inject her. But that's a very cruel process
and she herself would not agree to that. Some 65 million year ago she got an
antidote which got her rid of giant parasites and she is too scared of all this
again. Plus she loved these parasites in the past.

Anyway if she keeps getting sicker I will ave no other option but to get her antidotes injected, probably I will ask her other brothers
to hurl an antidote from far away. In the meantime I would pray for my Daughter.
I hope she get well soon and that her rogue parasites change.

Anyway we are right into the second half of 2011 and world has survived the Armageddon of 21st May, there were few more depending on which part of the world you live - the next one is on 21st October this year prior to the original one of 21st Dec 2012. I know its going to be fun. Stay tuned on social media. Remember you will get it first on social media.

Arab world saw a spring unusually spreading across different countries from Tunisia to Egypt, once again social media enthusiast saw it as their victory, where it was just a medium for people. It was people's desire for change which mattered. Here in India we have many social media groups but change is happening on Twitter time lines and Facebook feeds only, anyway thats a whole different story of India.

The Great people of Japan went through Tsunami and then Nuclear melt down at Fukushima in March this year. This could have been a real Armageddon for many countries but Japanese resilience prevailed and world needs to learn lessons from it - importantly how to get rid of Nuclear Energy and Crisis Management right in the middle of crisis, I know many in India will understand what I mean. Indian News channels got hold of some Indians in Japan using Skype and had chit chat with them to know the real time updates. Social media was once again powerfully used with minimum power consumption.

Then there was a shocker right after the telecast of royal wedding on Youtube in England, the killing of Osama Bin Laden, the big boss of illegal international terrorism, 20-30 Kms from the India-Pakistan border but inside the Pakistani town of Abbottabad - and yes a guy live tweeted the operations. And the news too first broke out on twitter. Social Media you know? As of now Osama is dead on social media and like Saddam no one is interested anymore ~ until someone comes up with a leak.

That reminds me of Wikileaks, which turned out to be Vickyleaks in India. After all political parties were slammed one by one our leaders realized they are not authentic and can't be trusted. So there is no change, once again despite the social media.

Hey and wait how can I think about 2011 and forget about India winning a Cricket World Cup. Though cricket is not played across the world like football its still a world cup, its a tough game not everyone can play. Anyway after that IPL started and cricket was fun after that. Twitter and facebook presented ball by ball coverage of entire fleet of cheerleaders.

Technologically nothing much happened other than Sony being hacked repeatedly, tech world is not sure where is the Cloud until the iCloud. All in all everything was on social media and people are enjoying. Have fun guys stay in good Facebooks and keep twitter cluttered.

I have compiled all of his 50 test centuries and tried to put up a small analysis of a great cricketing maestro.

Click on the image to enlarge

High points - 22% of his centuries were against Australia . Also India lost only 10 times in those 50 tests where he scored a century.

I have also attached the analysis on a workbook here

BJP is claiming it is a theft of its identity, I checked the internet archives and found BJP was never in possession of this domain and is been registered first in 1998 by a company called ontech apparently a domain squatter. For some years they put a page of Brighton Journal of Philosophy starting from early 2000 to June 2008. From then onward someone attempt to ran a News site over BJP.COM. While there is no major sign of Brighton Journal of Philosophy over the internet; news site was a clear attempt to get advertisement - which they were asking too on the site.

No major records exist over Internet Archive after 2008, possible due to site being closed keeping the domain registered. Here are the details of BJP.com owners, And if BJP want to get this domain, they need to pursue these people.

Now who is forwarding BJP.COM to Congress website can be a matter of speculation. At first sight it seems a domain squatter - ontech seeing no interest from BJP in acquiring their.com domain might have forward it to congress to get huge sum of money from them. Which they will fail to do so considering the domain dispute resolution policy of ICANN - body overseeing the domain names internationally. There is also a possibility either congress or bjp or one of their techie supporter might have contacted ontech and paid them to do this - all for the sake of publicity or controversy.

Congress here will issue a statement denying anything to do with it. Hopefully someone will advice BJP to approach ICANN and get BJP.COM domain transferred to them - probably they will turn commercial then.

Update:- Hours after the controversy broke out BJP.com is no more accessible in India. Also proxy access outside India is showing site no longer redirecting to congress website, instead is now full of ads.

We started believing our species to be special and our existence is the reason for life. We even started believing that we are the custodians of life in this planet or as some religions say across the universe or in recent year - the multiverse.

The belief of being special is further strengthened by religions. What is obvious is often difficult to be simple - same is with religion. Every new astronomical discovery told us how irrelevant human beings are in the cosmos, yet religious zealots fit in the importance of human beings in it.

As we understand from Carl Sagon'a famous pale blue dot speech we don't exist for our universe, we have no impact on our universe, galaxy, solar system and contrary to our belief on our home - Earth.

Scientist may tell you that the probability of life in universe is very high; which also include the so called intelligent life like us - Humans. We started looking for it in recent decades and it is possible we may not find one ever, The reason is simple, in the vast expanse of space-time civilizations come and go in the blink of a cosmic eye.

Yet LIFE will continue to thrive across cosmos irrespective of whether we find one or no; whether we are here or not.

Just as our belief of being at the centre of universe few centuries ago was a result of our myopic and religion centric system, Our belief of being special form of life is waiting to be shattered.

Good Bye for now.

Its been almost 4 years when i made my uncertain journey to Delhi for my first job (which is still my only job :) with advice to be careful day and night in a city which is notorious for what not. whatever you see in 24 hours news channels, i saw that notorious image of Delhi being smashed away every time I tested this beautiful city. People most of the time will go out of their way to help you out, of course there are problems and crimes but where they are not?

When in October of 2009 I decided to leave Delhi for Bangalore, i never realized how painful first month will be in forever spring of Bangalore.

I started missing everything from chilling weather to everyday chaos.

I miss all my friends, colleagues, and some people whom you have nothing to do with, but they are there when I count people who matter for what I am. All of them, i would have simply missed had it not been Delhi.

Food - You cannot talk for more than 7 minutes to a Delhite without him or her mentioning cuisines of Delhi (k, i made up 7 minute part :) All the spices that end up making me run for water, soon were part of my life, leaving my mom in amazement.

Weather sometime makes you feel as if it is punishing you for being in Delhi. Going from near freezing to almost killing you at 44°C (111 °F) every year. This has a special place in a way Delhi reacts and what makes them special as a Delhite :) All my winter jackets and sweaters are still packed, and i paid heavly for being part of my extra baggage from Delhi to Bangalore.

History - At Delhi you dont live in a city, you live in a History Book. City which was raised seven times from ground zero after being razed several times has lot to offer if you are interested in culture, history, monuments etc. I miss Qutub Minar on my way to office daily :)

Delhites - Well Well this is what makes Delhi what Delhi is. There is a sense of entitlement among Delhites, which drives the city. From rich to poor everyone in the city think they have keys to the problems of India. You can find a Gorkha discussing Kashmiri whether they should be free or be a autonomous region and suddenly Bihari jumping in, all this being closely watched by Tamilian. I am not saying this does not happen anywhere else but it cannot be as entertaining anywhere else. Specially when a Delhite punctuate his sentence with B word :)

Well all said and done life will never be same and sometime i feel for good :)

Here is the reprint on this one.

November 13, 2005 on 10:55 pm.

We are alone, absolutely alone on this chance planet: and, amid all the forms of life that surround us, not one, excepting the dog, has made an alliance with us.
- Maurice Maeterlinck

Sometime when you read a quote you think wow what a brilliant thought. Sometime they sum up the life; sometimes they show you the paths in life but sometime they have hidden message, I felt the same reading the above quotes from Maurice Maeterlinck.

More I tried to forget this quote more it haunted me. So I decided to think about it, of course with respect to my intelligence.

Read it and look closely. Every word is cleverly placed and carries the beautiful message. “We are alone, absolutely alone on this chance planet.” Now first of all, are we in a chance planet? At least all that we can understand from our current astronomical knowledge, almighty has left us so lonely and so insecure in this dangerous universe that a smallest error in “his” universe may jeopardize our journey over this chance planet.
And are we alone? oh sure look around your space, and you will find that there is not a single creature has befriended with us other that DOG. Even the cruelest of all creatures try to avoid confrontation with us at almost all occasions. The probability of you being killed by tigers, leopards, snakes, or any wild animal or any creature in Jungle is far less than you being killed on road.

But hey there is an exception to it. Do you know the most dangerous animal in Jungle is Wild Dog and not tiger or leopard? They can eliminate entire Jungle fauna in just few decades? Their ability to hunt down the wildest creature by working together in groups, tirelessly, is similar to Jungle beats that Kings of 19th and 20th century used to almost eliminate Lion and Tiger from this country and elsewhere. (Read Kenneth Anderson, south Indian equivalent of Jim Corbett for more on wild Dogs).

So, is our friendship with Dog is a friendship between two cruel and shrewd creatures? May be our civilized activity is centered towards ourselves and that too superficially. And seem we are on a mission to clear all other creatures from this chance planet which makes us natural enemy to all others except the Dog. And “others” knew it for ages, I hope we realize and reconcile.
(For those who think that wild and domestic dogs are two different creatures, just as we show great interest and love to our ancestors (Read Monkey) similarly wild dog too show kindness to domestic dogs only.

Though very little we know or talk about Diogenes, the man for whom once Alexander said "If I were not Alexander, I should wish to be Diogenes." And if you are not aware who this Diogenes was, a cynical beggar who describe himself as "I am Diogenes the Dog. I nuzzle the kind, bark at the greedy and bite scoundrels."

Now I am not writing this crap on two men died around 2300 years ago to remember their greatness, on the contrary I have reservations on the greatness of Alexander; though still I admire him as one of the greatest Military Commander but not as a great human being; but to ponder on the lighter side what could have made Alexander to live like Diogenes if he had not been Alexander the Great.

Bhootnath, one of my friend at E-Panchayat (don’t ask me what’s that), said fools seldom differ :) I have nothing but to agree with Bhootnath, considering how Plato described the Diogenes “A Socrates gone mad''.

Alexander was no doubt the greatest military commander, much has been written about his military campaigns, his conquests and his study under Aristotle, but nothing exist on why he wish to be Diogenes.

And as the destiny decided both Alexander and Diogenes died on the same day at different parts of the world, Alex just 32 and Diogenes nearly 90, it seems Alex never got time to be Diogenes.

Well I read a lot of crap on internet thanks to Google Reader. Lately few of my colleagues have turned bloggers, which means you can discuss about blogging face to face within office with them. And they remind me of my old passion when you just want to post post and post and then want someone to discuss on it. Ok that was then, now I am too lazy to post anything more than a twitter length that too rarely.

So when I decided to write something bigger and lighter, I chose them.

Let me introduce them…

Analygy – That’s Mr Ahmer, He is been writing randomly for last one year, though there is nothing random in his writing. Questioning, motivating, philosophy, etc. all the heavy stuff. You need brain to read it. I claim to have one, so I read  And be careful don’t mess with him as its not easy to carry on debating with him.

Angeleyes – Bubbly, Vivacious, and what not you see in a fun loving girl of Delhi (though I think she is from Dehradoon :) Her post’s most of the time are on the lighter side and things around her. And sometime, should say, male bashing  (and you will enjoy that). The best thing about them is the pictures that she put on each of them, which I am not sure where she is stealing from 

Shark In Pound : Boss turned Blogger :) . No he is not my immediate boss. The man from the beautiful hills of Himachal, with interest in fiction, movies and what not. He is one of the very few who hear my crap and laugh  He has decided to write short stories, which may end up long once you spend time understanding the links  Anyhow they are quite refreshing and one certainly enjoy the fast pace of themes.

So if you are fed up of big names in blogging, get along with them before they make it big 

Back To Blogging... Again!

This is something which 90% of bloggers (If not more) do but few like to say it on there blog...

Yes I am shamelessly back to blogging after a gap of a year. And this time I have made full proof arrangements so that gap between my posts is not that long.

Basically I cant sit in front of 15 Inch monitor handling a foot by 6 inch plate with as many buttons for doing something people called leisure. Even my regular surfing happens in my Nokia E62 over ever improving Opera Mini.

I switched back to blogger.com from wordpress.org which is a pain to upgrade and with intelligent bots who like to comment every minute on your blog. Blogger is a better option for people like me who don't have time fixing and upgrading versions.

All this was not simple as i had spent more than 12 hours over 15 days ( hmmm) just to find that although you can kick blogger for wordpress but you cant reverse despite 2 or 3 options that you have. The best thing is to say goodbye to all the worst posts and copy and paste the best one. I have lost quite a few post while doing all the experiment. Anyway Internet Archive (archive.org) came to my rescue and they have full image of my blog.

More than blogging i enjoy twittering (twitter.com) its not only easy but you can do it from your mobile. Even more good for me is that I can use my Gtalk (courtesy - www.ebuddy.com and www.gotalkmobile.com) on my mobile to twitter, which is not the case with Blogger. (Just in case you still don't know - Blogger does not have a GPRS (WAP) version.

Anyway more importantly i can use my domain (harsh.co.in) over blogger now. Having said all this there are loads of drawbacks using blogger. Blogger is blocked in many organisations. Even if you use your domain it will still be blocked at least in my company it is totally blocked, which means you can neither post nor view anything over blogger. (This prompted me for a while to choose www.wordpress.com as you can use your domain after paying $10 pounds but i rejected it as you cant have your ads there) I still don't think its easy to configure the same domain for blogger and Gmail Apps . I am using two different domains for the same.

As the future is more and more Mobile, I hope Google will give a serious thought to developing application that are not just the mobile versions but developed purely to be used over Mobile application (With Android it may soon be the case!)

Anyway I wish myself Happy Blogging :)

Considering that we evolved as humans just 200000 years ago, we made huge strides in this small time. But the way Earth is showing signs of inhospitality makes me feel, how come we humans just few thousand year old can make a 4.5 billion year old planet angry.

Now check this analogy. If you convert the total expected age of earth (around 12 billion years) into a day, earth is only 9 hours old and Humans are only and only 0.048 seconds old. Think this way our history is not even one tenth of a second old. Do we really exist for our wonderfull Planet. The timescale that I used here indicate she may be feeling entertained the way we changed her face - good and the bad.
Now what if she decides to change her mind next second and what if she might have dedicated only a second for us.
Scientist have interesting plan to move house in case she turn hostile. But can we stay longer anywhere else than the time we have spent here. We were evolved in this planet and it does not matter if the seed was designed here or was trasported from some distance place.
Earth will continue to amaze the humanity in the centuries to come like the way she has done uptill now. I remember an astronaut saying the most beautifull thing that you can see from the space is the Earth.

Happy Earth Day.

Got this gyan sometime back. And as usual I read so many things out of it. In the end I came up with my own gyan.

"If you want to convince someone, confuse him"

From George Bush to Manmohan Singh; Pervaj Mushraff to our Saffron Brigade, everyone of them is confusing to convince people.

So next time when you need to convince someone confuse him.

Rani Durgavati (1524 – 1564 AD) is a part of Indian history, whom most people in India do not know. One of the reasons may be the absence of the poetess like Smt Subhadra Kumari Chouhan during her period or later (read previous post). Rani Durgavati ruled the kingdom of Gondwana (current region of Mahakoushal in Madhya Pradesh) from 1550 AD to 1564 AD.

Rani Durgavati is famous in Indian history for refusing to submit to the Mughul emperor Akbar as he pushed deep into Central India, which was part of his goal of dominating all of India. Rani fought a battle with limited resources against the commander Asaf Khan of Akbar's army in 1564 AD.

During the battle she was hit by two arrows, one through her jaw near the ear, and the other through her neck. She lost consciousness, and when she regained it, she saw immediately the battle was about to be lost. The mahout of her battle elephant pleaded with her to let him take her back to safety. That meant acknowledging the inevitable defeat and surrender.

Instead of retreating, she killed herself with a dagger. It was this 24th day of June in 1564.

She was seen as a role model 300 years later during the first war of Indian Independence and later.

People in Jabalpur still remember her with great pride. In her honor Jabalpur University is named after her.
Those of you who studied in the Hindi heartland of India know her through a poem, which is still taught somewhere in middle schools. Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi Fought against the British East India Company during the first war of Indian independence triggered by the Sepoy rebellion in 1857 AD at Meerut.

The ferocious battles that Rani fought bravly would never be known to current generation had Smt Subhadra Kumari Chauhan not written this brilliant poem. She not only wrote this poem but was not afraid to read out her poem in the public meetings, for which she was imprisoned. Now considering that all this happened in the latter part of Indian freedom struggle, during which British were very intolerant towards such literary works, she is seen as a lady equivalent to Rani in her determination to live in the free India.

Although both lived in periods separated by a century yet Subhadra Kumari Chauhan embodied the character of queen replacing sword with pen.

On this day of 18 June in the year 1858 AD the 22 year-old Rani gave her life for his motherland. British commander Sir Hurose said “The best warrior who died from the enemy side was a female”.

I salute to Rani of Jhansi and Smt Subhadra Kumari Chauhan.

Public libraries in our countries were established during the British
Raj. They are still the most important place for getting information
in the best indexed way. You may counter it by placing it against the
Google or the virtual libraries in the west. But public libraries have their own importance,
which cannot be neglected. My intention of writing this
article is to reflect the state of ignorance among the people about
these libraries.
Take the example of my own city of Jabalpur.
<l>
In my city about 10% people know a place called Town Hall, they simply
use it as a landmark.
Of these 10% only 10% know what is in it.
And of these 10 % only 10 % goes inside it, simply to read newspapers
for free, just because the place is close to them.
Of these 10%, which is around 1000, only 600-700 are members.
{Note: Population of Jabalpur city is around 14 Lakhs or 1.4 million
including the Jabalpur Cantonment)
<l>
Now these libraries contain huge collection of books which are not
only rare but are classics of their time. I personally have seen many
books published in the early 20th century. These books are not
available in the open market, so if they are lost or not returned by
members can cause a complete disappearance from a specific city. Just
consider the impact it will have for the common man who has no
internet access or money to purchase it from the metros. People from
all strata of society come here, I have seen a beggar who is a
member here. Employees are good and supportive but they can't do more
to improve the situation.
Now I have certain suggestion:-
1. Government should select the title of books which are rare all over
the country for digitalizing them. Then they should be sent to the
libraries in which they are missing or damaged in the paper format.
2. If a book is found missing for more than 6 months and its copy is
not in the library it should be immediately reordered.
3. Missing books should not be reordered on the basis of their demand
from members. I mean we can have a situation were a certain book may
have lost his interest among the members for a certain time period but
they may reemerge as an on demand book.
4. Last but not the least people should form groups in their cities
called "friend of public libraries" to raise the interest among the
people. This concept is already there and I read it once in an
article.</l></l>

At last I like to say public libraries are our common knowledge and we
should protect them for whatever the price we have to pay.

I completed reading "wings of fire" couple of days ago
Autobiography of our President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Book tells how a
boy from a small town of Rameshwaram went on to become the great
technologist of our country. While this may be a common ingredient of
almost all autobiographies but what make it unique is it shows us the
various qualities of a man to succeed in any sphere of life. Dr Kalam
was not president when he had written this book, and had not the
faintest idea of becoming the president. I mean you will realise that
man's character is not built in a day or two. This man loves his
country from the very beginning.
As the political system coming to before a test everyday in this country, Dr
Kalam's action have created a benchmark for the coming presidents and
politicians. Even though he was never in politics before but as an
indirect part of the Indian political system, he showed how
fundamental values of life can help you everywhere.

Though the book came six year ago, I recommend each and every Indian
should read this book.

I found this interesting line in a website run by desians.
"There are only 10 types of people, those who know the binary and
those who don't know."
For latter in binary number system 2 is written as "10" and that's what
they are saying…..
Now that line made me remember an article I read some months back
about the Indian way of doing things in a non-binary manner. That
there is nothing like 'yes or no', 'true or false', 'do or not' etc in
Indian lifestyle. In fact such think exist in our constitution also.
It's only because of this we are unable to go as fast in our march to
success as Japanese or others have gone. This way of thinking has made
us mediocre which may be good in some cases but not always. Ill try to
find out that article and post it over here…

I will recommend the firefox if you do not have the professional antivirus software to block pop-up ads. It not only stops pop-up ads but has less space occupation. All functions are same as IE, so no need to adapt to new style. As I said I have not uninstalled the IE and may wait till the launch of IE 7.0 which is coming out in summer.
