I was discussing jeans with a girl here at work and it led me to do another google search for curvy jeans. I've done this search time and again but I never really find the information I'm looking for. See, I'm tall and thick and have a horrendous time finding jeans that fit the way I want them to:

long enough to cover my shoes but not drag on the ground
flattering shape
lifting slightly in the butt
pockets proportional to my cheek size
not so low that they give me muffin top

Most of the Junior size 13s are too short--I'm 5'11"--and too snug and the Missy sizes are never available in the styles I like. I tried Applebottoms and they were okay--cute pockets--except they stretched out right away and i had to keep tugging on them the rest of the day to keep them...and they had no belt loops so I couldn't even cinch 'em. There is no shape recovery in them at all!

I've even thought I needed to bite the bullet and jump the fence to Plus sizes (its hard to do that when you're on the cusp...there's a sense of denial there). But the 14s are too loose and the crotch is super long! What do they think I'm packin in there?! So, I figured I'd bring this dilemma to the table and see what kind of responses I can get. Maybe there are more girls my size that have the answers! Can someone please tell me this... Where can I find the perfect jean?

Another day of work completely wasted on the internet... why is my brain so against the idea of focusing on what I am supposed to be doing? Ah well...

So...This Friday marks the 2nd annual Looptopia. It sounded interesting last year so my friend and I have decided to check it out this weekend, despite predections of thunderstorms and chilly wind. However, those reports have led me to one exciting idea: I can wear my rain boots!! I have one pair that I don't particularly like and they are a size too big. But if I can get a new pair in time I am SO wearing them. I hope they're comfortable because we'll be doing a lot of walking. There are so many adorable choices at Target, its hard to choose which I like best. I think I've narrowed it down to 3, but then I go back to the list and find more I like! How do I choose?

Ok, so I've spent almost the entire day online shopping for items to add to my wardrobe that coordinate with each other. I add things to my Kaboodle and then c&p them onto a page in Word to make sure they match. Its easier than trying to organize it right away in Kaboodle. I'm so addicted! I want all this stuff for summer! I need new clothes badly and these would be perfect!

So, I'm trying to be good this week and eat right so I can drop a few pounds. I made steamed veggies and grilled chicken for dinner last night and ate the leftovers for lunch. But then I get to mid afternoon and I'm heading straight for the brownies in the kitchen. They're small, about 2 sq. inches. But they are so unbelievably good that I have to go back for more! I just had my 2nd one and I am so ready to go back in the kitchen. I have no willpower.

So...what do I want today? Gotta have sweet!!

Ok so the name of the bakery is a little off, but I stared at this picture of the cakes for at least 10 minutes this morning, salivating thanks to Oh Joy! blog. That must've been what put the sugary evil in my head in the first place!

These are just some really delicious looking treats. Where can I get these!? I might have to start baking when I get home instead of working out today.

Rain & Rubber

I seem to be obsessed with rubber rain boots. I browse them online at least once a week. Spring should be well on its way now so we're bound to get some rain and I know I want a new pair of rain boots. But I can't seem to decide which ones I like best. My beloved Tiffany & Co. has created new designs! I'm well overdue for a little blue box. My Return to Tiffany charm bracelet from 2002 has lost its luster. I think a pendant would get much more wear nowadays. Not too chunky, just a simple charm on a chain that I could wear everyday.

I love the Tiffany 1837™ Circles pendant! Seems like a good gift to get from a boyfriend. Guess I won't be getting this one anytime soon. ha!

A Summer Without Jeans

Ah...thoughts of summer... finally my fashion sense shows because I'm not too cold to show a little style. But I'm stuck on the fact that my friend told me I wore jeans for a whole Summer once and never shorts or capris because I was too self conscious of my weight. Therefore, its February and I'm already thinking of what I'm going to wear once the weather gets warmer. I'm not comfortable showing off my thighs because they look like sausages in shorts! So, it'll probably have to be capris or skirts. Let's see what I can come up with...

For Camping Weekend I'll need comfy but cute and flattering. Nothing that clings too much in the heat because it can get warm during the day and while hiking. But at night it gets cold, so its all about the sweats and hoodies!

hmm...Having trouble finding bottoms!!

How Girly is Too Girly?

Ok, so I was surfing for more ideas to decorate my new apartment once I get it and I started wondering... I'm excited to be able to have all my favorite things and my favorite colors, showing my true personality and interests. But is it possible that it could be too much? I know I've heard tips for guys on how to decorate your home so as to attract the ladies and not give the wrong signals. But what about the ladies... what kind of signals are we sending? Here's a few looks I liked, but wondered... would he be intimidated by my overload of feminine colors and themes? I'm interested in how the male mind works with this sort of thing. Perhaps doing these in the bathroom and bedroom but leaving the other looks for the living and dining areas would balance it all out. ...when in doubt, do what YOU want. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks!

YEAHHH! So, I am supposed to get a place of my own this Summer and I can't wait to decorate! Not that I didn't decorate my current apartment on my own, especially since I lived there by myself at first. But with this place I want it to be ALL my own... I want to do a complete design overhaul and make it so you can tell I put my own flavor into it when you walk in the door. Let's start looking for flava!

For the living room, I was going to try and do the...oh what would you call it? Trendy, dorm room, loft style decor based largely on Ikea products? But I think what I'd really prefer is something more mature, yet comfortable. Harlem Room Place has these wonderful round sofas that look comfy and a lot of fun.

They also have this dining set I've had my eye on, too. I especially like the benches because they're space savers and can be tucked under the table.

For artwork, I was looking along the lines of graffit art or something with an urban inspired feel. Most of it was too gritty though, not really my personality, until I stumbled on these gems. The Matt Brown swirl pattern painting has the right colors to stick to a warm palette which I like, and its both abstract and reminds me a little of graffiti. I might hang this above the couch so that you're not looking directly at it all the time. That could be busy and hard on the eyes.

These Banksy prints caught my eye with their rough stenciled imagery. I like that they make subtle abstract statements that wouldn't be too political for a living room. I think I'd get them in smaller prints to frame and hang off to the side somewhere grouped together.

I also really liked this print by Ali Hendrick. I'm not sure who that artist is, but he or she has a handful of artwork for sale on Ebay. Its both pop art and graffiti-esque... very nice.

I'm not sure about these ones. I like them, but don't know if they'd fit with the other styles of artwork I want to include. I was thinking maybe for the dining area...

I wish I had taken a picture of the girl who I saw sporting this style a couple years ago because I still remember how intrigued I was at the time. So intrigued in fact, that I have to mention it now. I was at a little bar in Chicago when I saw a skinny Asian girl wearing her Coach purse around the waist in a fashion similar to the old fanny packs in the eighties. At first I thought it was weird. But then the label whore in me took over and when I noticed the coach insignia I thoguht, "hmm...that's kinda cool." I believe the so-called fanny pack that this trend setting bar hopper was wearing was Coach's very own "swingpack". They come in several design varieties and the way to wear it right is to slip the strap around your waist and tighten to your measurements. Then let the pack just hang off to one side of your hips. Voila! A much less bulky and way more stylish alternative to keeping an eye on your purse at all times.

Chicago's crazy weather calls for all types of fashionable weather readiness. I've been searching for days now for a great rain ensemble. But rain gear doesn't seem to be in high demand because I cannot find any cute stuff! So, for now on a slightly warmer day, with chance of snow, slush, and rain, I might try something like this...
