My sister turned 17 a couple of weeks ago and we celebrated it by having sushi. I also had to use up my remaining Portra frames so I brought my FM2n with me.

My mother is not a big sushi fan so we had a family dinner the night before and then I treated my sister for an all-you-can-eat lunch per her request. Nomnom it was so yummy I hated myself afterwards as I was monitoring the stuff I eat.

Portra also makes the food you eat look even more delectable on pictures. Crazy!

Suffice to say it was a good cheat day.

No more warm weather (at least for now) as we got rain last week and the usual spring temperature. I guess it’s back to regular programming?

I never really shot with colored negative with my Olympus 35 SP as I want to use black and white (as per my project) but it doesn’t hurt to switch to color at times. I might try red scale soon.

Some of the scans ended up flat but these was the color and feel that I was aiming for from the beginning. I used Lomography CN 100 that I bought when I was in Toronto.

A couple of weeks back I posted on my YT channel about my own project called “Tungsten Week” wherein I’ll be trying two brands of Tungsten film and see how they work.

I’ve tried Fujifilm 64T Tungsten in 120 format and was very expired. For 35mm I used the Lomography X Tungsten that my friend gave to me over the holidays.

Sadly my 35mm film will take a while to get back to me (long story) so for now here are the results of my experiment week.

Anyway, on Saturday we had a record-breaking weather in Winnipeg. We never get +20 celcius temperature in March. Heck, we don’t get positive temperature in March. But for the past few days it’s been pretty sunny and warm. It’s crazy and not normal, but I’d take this anytime.

My first time seeing the river with melting chunks of snow. How awesome is this.

You also deserve better than a digital camera. :p

I haven’t shot anything in almost a month (with the exception of the portrait work I did) because of the biting winter but it looks like the weather is going to be pretty nice to us.

Technicalities: Olympus 35 SP with Arista Premium 100, home developed.

I was given a great opportunity to take baby portraits again. The session lasted for around two months due to health reasons, but I successfully finished the shoot sometime in February.

Photographing a baby is a challenge. If anything, it is a test of one’s patience. But I guess the same thing with any other projects and any other shoots. But I enjoyed it immensely, because for me, baby shoots are a celebration of joy and new life. Being chosen to document a young child’s early life is an honor for me.

With my work schedule starting to get heavy once more, Pat with his academic schedule and Tatsuya working and teaching at the same time, it’s hard for us to find time together. But we make do anyway, because it’s worth it.

Walked around Portage, and decided to have dinner at Stella’s.

We then headed to check out Tat’s new place and met his new roommate.

Saturday with photos and friends. It was a good day.

So we’ve experienced three straight days of fog and low visibility in the city. To make up for it, Mother Nature gave us frosts on trees.

I only got the chance to take digital snaps yesterday and finally here they are. Nothing really special, just something for me to document it.

With my increase use of traditional film and learning how to develop, I definitely need to spend a bit of a time tinkering on my camera’s features.

One thing I love about this set was the numerous amount of interesting stuff. I get to play around shapes, the light, lines, shadows, reflections and textures.

I’m disappointed that a couple of shots I really like didn’t work out well, exposure-wise. I haven’t been doing my “assignment” (light metering) so I’ve been lagging behind.

Medium format has always been a dream. I love my TLR.

It was a very cold Saturday and a good time for a committee meeting, chai tea and red velvet cake.

It was also a good time to bring my Yashica A, loaded with T-Max 100 lying around somewhere. Now that my stock of black and white film is slowly dwindling down because of my project I realized I should have kept track how many I have.

Had a bit of a trouble with the exposure there. Better luck next time.

Also a good time to take photographs because the TLR is quiet and non-assuming. I love it.

New Years Eve 2011 at downtown (this is not a continuation of this entry) but was there to meet up with L after her co-op program at Saskatchewan.

Interestingly I also brought a rangefinder; my Olympus 35 SP to test it out. This is a late entry as you can see, since I’ve already posted multiple photographs taken by that camera. This is the first roll though, which I also got over the holidays.

What a good way to catch up with coffee.
