In simple terms, the art of motivating and inspiring leadership to others so that they have a specific reason to believe in and achieve their goals can be best defined as giving.

There are various theories has led each of them to make an impression, or others with defining what constitutes effective leadership. Presented below are the main principles of leadership.

Principles of Leadership Development

Behavior Theory

According to this theory, a leader can be successful if he defines each of the roles and expectations clearly too all employees, periodically monitor and evaluate their performance, and then takes a can evaluate their performance. Most companies today follow the principle of the business leadership.

Interaction Theory

According to this theory of leadership, leaders account before arriving at a decision should take the opinions of their followers. Leader of his team mates to encourage participation in the decision making process and give due importance should your information in order to win their loyalty and cooperation.

Great Man Theory

According to the leadership theory and style, leadership qualities inherent in these individuals, i.e. as a person is born with leadership qualities can not grow.

Behavior Theory

This kind of leadership and motivation theories, leadership qualities and behaviors of individuals with training and experience can be learned. The principle underlying the great man theory of leadership qualities rejected the notion.

Trait theory

Leadership in business education or promotion of the principle that there are some leadership qualities those are common to all leaders. The assumption of this theory is a different leadership traits in those who possess them are bound to be good leaders.

Transformational Theory

According to the theory of transformational leadership, leaders to successfully work through others to inspire and motivate them to get they might be able to. This theory assumes those leaders and their followers, where he is seen by them between a good relationship getting help is working. Moral and an inspirational leader for the benefit of each of his followers might work, thus the reason for their cooperation and commitment must win.

Contingency Theory

Such theories of leadership style is the notion that followers of a leader's success depends on different variables such as it is based on, state leaders and leadership style as it finds itself followed by the situation for. According to this theory, a leader can not rely on the same kind of leadership style. He is customized according to circumstances.

Situational theory

Cool for the same contingency theory, the theory claims that the way a leader is, he exhibits the kind of style and qualities, he has to deal with the situation depends a lot on. Factors that influence behavior are some of the leader - his followers have the ability, the kind of relationship she shares with them, leaders, support the team like, etc. There are resources available to the middle of

these led to the theory of evolution. Structures put in place after a well and share a good relationship with the followers of two other things that are contributing to the success of a leader. Today businesses in mind these principles to their work lead to different model assumptions, is optimized to achieve organizational goals.

What is team building?

Team building is basically a group of activities or discussions done to develop better team work between people. In school, most of us think competitively all the time, meaning, we're being an"I" and not part of a team, so this is something we don't know how to do. Businesses spend a lot of money on seminars and retreats and training so employees learn this. Ideally, supervisors delegate to subgroups, which is very hard for control freaks. Alsoideally, specialists do what they know best but interact with everyone on a project. When everything goes well, there's input from everyone and coordinators make it all come together.Egos need to be subverted somewhat so that group members can help each other, offer suggestions, critique ideas. We idealize loners, like John Wayne in Westerns, and Ayn Rand fans have super-Alpha fantasies too, but It Takes a Village more than it takes a cowboy.

Team building is a process that develops cooperation and teamwork within a work unit. To constitute an effective team, its members must share a common goal, have respect for each other, and be motivated to use the strengths of each member to achieve their objectives. Current corporate philosophy stresses that each member of a team plays an integral part in the success of the company.

With under staffing, burnout, outsourcing, and other morale-defeating activities on the rise, many corporations realize they must nurture communication within the organization. In addition, many businesses form teams, or committees, for varying purposes; therefore individuals can be members of several teams. For an effective team, time should be established for getting acquainted and the exchange of ideas. From the employee's point of view, being part of a team usually provides a sense of loyalty and ownership.
People want to follow an effective leader but they tend not to follow a poor leader.

If you can't tell, ask your subordinates. Ask questions of those who you are trying to lead how you are doing. Ask them if you are clear. Ask them what they need from you and if you are providing it. Be vulnerable to them and let them feel empowered to really answer you. This will strengthen your relationship with them and make them respect the fact that you really want to be a good leader. In turn, they will follow you.

It's OK if you don't know everything, have every answer, know exactly what to do. A good leader figures out how to get those answers using the resources around them. The difference between a good leader and a typical worker is that a leader cares enough to do something when something needs to be done. A leader cares enough to close an issue when it arises. They don't have to have an answer, but they have to demand that an answer is ultimately reached.

Leadership Activities for College Students

Leadership activities for college students, require students to take more responsibility and are a high school and middle school complex than the bit. Although some people are born leaders, others later in their lives achieve the much needed quality. Once again, entrust the responsibility of leading people on a certain individual circumstances, thereby changing their lives forever. Children in their early life itself should be taught about the importance of leadership. In order to become better leaders in their lives, they should be given opportunity to lead in early age. Leadership activities for groups can bring out leadership qualities in a child because they "only real training for leadership said," is leadership. Led game for groups familiar with a problem and by following a leader come to a consensus in adults can help. Below for adults and children are playing some lead.

Leadership games for groups

Groups led to the choice of playing members of the group mainly depends on the age and purpose of the House. Funny Games for groups for light entertainment during family gatherings are fine. However, if you are calling a meeting for an educational purpose, you play so that, at the end of each game the participants must choose to learn about leadership.

One of the most popular activities lead suitable for all age groups is 'blind builders'. The game requires you to divide participants into groups of three. Teams, their leader, a building or a castle using the model gets to choose one. The remaining two team members are supplied with building materials, but they do not have a use for model building. They only rely on their leader's instructions to the castle is built. Team won the first finishes. This activity not only underlined the importance of quality leadership as a team but also demonstrates the importance of working together.

Most participants of sports clubs or organizations for the lead with other interpersonal skills are leadership and management development is targeted at. Most of these activities include the team in front of an imaginary landscape or encouraging them to present a problem and come up with a solution. It also can provide a list of possible solutions and ask staff to come up with solutions to the practical problem. The team brainstorms on practical solutions in support of your choice and comes with a justification. The whole process, while instructors observe team behavior during may reach a consensus.

Groups of employees think that their priorities and determine a way to lead them to other games is asking for a list of 5 items with them on a deserted island, he said. Number of items per member per team and it is not. Thus, a team brainstorm to reach agreed solutions and finally come up with 5 items. This activity will help educators to understand how each member thinks and what his priorities. You can also study team members succumb to the pressure or you are firm on their decision.

Leadership games for students

Climb a wall for students to lead a good activity. 6 to 7 members per team, with participants divide into teams. For each team to climb a 6 foot wall on the other side is going to bring. A team in due course, on the other side should get all its members. The activity of the students to choose their leaders and discuss strategies to climb a wall will allow.

Lead for children playing next two or more teams, two trays and one paper cup filled with water needs. Place five paper cups at one end of the room and the distance between them with no more than 20 feet rest on the other. Terms of playing both ends such that all participating teams to collect cups and place in a tray placed in the center. While doing so, only one arm and a leg to participate are allowed to use. Also, you have a single journey on any end can not submit more than one cup. You've assembled the first cup at one end, put it in the tray, take a tray to the end and that end retrieve the cup. Repeat the process until you have retrieved all the cups. If any member water spills, the team once again begins. Activity leaders to come up with innovative solutions at a given time of completion is required. From one end to hop around the room would most other teams, however, the winning team will make a line from one end to the other and pass the tray between the two ends.
A leader who is responsible for the group. He who guides the group members, to tell them what to be and how can they approach. Take whatever steps he plans, he discussed with his fellow colleagues and only then should proceed. The same problem applies. That the problem facing the group, others information about the leader, should not necessarily the whole group, but at least some reliable members. Deals with these problems on their own leaders, the group members will either feel discriminated against or they are careless because they will not have any responsibility.
Unprejudiced: The most important quality that is one of a group leader should have. Any member of the group not to be biased. They should not even be anticipated. A leader should be to treat everyone, no one should be favored at large. Even in the past had some bad experiences with any member, it should not affect the current situation. He must be cautious, but no negative feelings towards that person should not show.
It's also a must for the leaders of the organization to serve as idols and impress a culture that is centered on achieving the most satisfactory results.

The organization's vision should be clear, challenging, and quantifiable ; the staff should also see the vision as achievable and can easily be related to. The feat of the vision should be split into key stages. It's the leader's responsibility to plan, identify, and set these stages. The leaders should convey the importance and importance of the vision to the organization's future.

Plans to attain the vision should serve as a platform that staff can relate to. Staff should be in a position to obviously identify the roles they'll play in attaining the vision. With correct analysis and support from the leaders, the staff should be made ok with the knowledge of what is being predicted of them.

The values should be a mirrored image of the organization's commitment to its customers and stakeholders. It offers steering on the behavior and culture if the business.
It's the leader's responsibility to convey the explanation behind a chosen system of management and to show that in spite of being subjected to occasional change, the management structure will generally deliver a dependable approach throughout the business.

A good leader actively involves himself with customers, suppliers, the local popularion, trade associations and stakeholders of the business. This involvement permits the leader to improve the organization's reputation, grow the business thru increased exposure, expedite settlement of tough issues, act as a idol for the business, permit other corporations to see the organisation as a company they'd like to deal with.
Many leaders try to solve challenging problems alone, but teams can do much better than individuals in coming up with creative solutions to difficult problems. In our fast changing world, innovative solutions are the source of your competitive advantage. In addition this type of collaboration energizes employees by improving motivation and increasing communication. This will also strengthen your team's ability to address the next challenge of gaining alignment and commitment to the proposed solution.

The top ten points below are designed to help you foster creativity within your team.

1. Establish clear outcomes for teamwork. You will derive the best results from your teams when members clearly understand what is expected of them. They need to understand both the overall big picture and vision for the organization, as well as your expectations of them operationally (what results/deliverables you want from them.)

2. Believe in the capabilities of your team. As the leader, you need to expect the best from your team, keeping your expectations high and realistic. This is a challenging balancing act, but people need to be inspired to perform at their best. In terms of creativity, a group is more likely to come up with innovative solutions if you believe that they can. However, your optimism and strength need to be realistic. Raise the bar for top performance, one step at a time.

3. Encourage and respect new thinking. It takes courage to bring up a new idea or a fresh perspective within a team. Creativity is a mindset that needs to be championed and valued by the leader. Make sure that you are open to new ideas, and that you suspend judgment during the idea generation phase. Encourage people to build on ideas, not tear them down. Dismissing ideas too soon is a sure way of losing the best solutions and suppressing creative thinking.

4. Hold regular brainstorming sessions. Brainstorming is a great way to get lots of new ideas on the table. Operate within clear brainstorming rules: go for quantity not quality, don't evaluate, defer judgment, appoint a scribe to capture the ideas verbatim on a flipchart and tagging on or combining ideas is OK – the wilder the better.

5. Strengthen relationships. Creativity is generated when you have a collaborative environment. Collaboration can only exist when there is trust between team members. The leader sets the tone, so make sure you encourage, recognize and reward collaboration and interdepartmental communication.

6. "Empower your employees". An easy thing to say but much more difficult to do. Start by sharing more of the decision making with lower levels in the organization.

7. Hire for creativity. During the interview cycle make sure you recruit people that have creative ability. Hiring groups of people who all think alike will not generate new ideas.

8. Encourage risk taking. Encourage your people to take risks, recognizing that at times mistakes will be made. It is critical that employees know that, so long as they take the appropriate steps to maximize success, failures will be seen as opportunities, for new learning, not blame. Fear is on the other side of the coin from creativity. It's up to management to recognize and acknowledge that fear is present and to set the tone that risks need to be taken anyway.

9. Build diverse teams. Diversity of backgrounds, thinking, experience and culture is the key to creativity. Although it is more difficult to build alignment and consensus among a group of divergent thinkers, you will get better ideas and ultimately more upside from a diverse team.

10. Have fun. Humor is a fuel of creativity. Make sure you fuel the fire of creativity by encouraging laughter and play. The key here is to maintain respectful interactions.
Bringing people together to share, discuss, contribute ideas, comment, identify, react and achieve is the basis for most team building initiatives on the market today.

From more traditional team building programs in past years, like ropes and raft building, to the more dynamic offerings today, like Amazing Races, Cooking team building events like MasterChef and Hi Tech programs, the only thing that has really changed is the innovative thinking and delivery methods of today's suppliers.
Traditionally team building suppliers were usually former HR trainers, psychologists or had a military background, providing a good base to develop and deliver quality team training programs. Today the market is filled with everyone from slick business people with an interactive experience to sell, to former employees of team building companies with an entrepreneurial streak, to high flying extroverts with a skill for talking and presenting.

Yes it is all there on the internet for the buyers to view, scrutinise, and choose what type of team building initiative they are going to engage for the upcoming company offsite or away day!
Everything from bowling to basketball to canoeing to fitness activities are being promoted as team building programs these days. Without commenting on what experiences are value for money and will deliver a good ROI, to what is rubbish and will bore your team to death with their mediocrity, our challenge today is to give you the basics in where to start when looking for a great team building program that will provide you with bang for your buck!

Firstly, when you Google for team building ideas, it is important to realise that because a team building supplier is listed high on the sponsored links part of the page, doesn't always mean that they are the best option. Anyone can pay to appear on the sponsored links page! When you have a short list of suitable programs or experiences, it is very important to do a quick reference check or background check on the suppliers in mind. Not all companies offer the quality programs purported on the endless flashy websites!

When you contact the supplier, the first thing that should be asked is what their experience in delivering team building programs and activities as, what professional indemnity insurance they have, and exactly who will be delivering the program and debrief.

Contingency plans should be available in most cases to cover weather issues, and you should receive a detailed program brief outlining exactly what is included for your spend, such as event insurance, risk assessment, and emergency plans to the basics like water and sunscreen, and location expenses like permits, garbage collection and and bump in/out times etc. Your team building supplier should leave you confident in that your program will be delivered as it should be, is dynamic and fun, suits all participants, and will leave you stress free and receiving the kudos for organising in the first place! About the Author : John is the General Manager of the leading Australian team building company XL Events. How do you develop great team building ideas? By looking carefully at the team and at the work place, is the answer.

Most companies outsource the setting up and running of team building away days to companies who specialise in them. That is fine, and probably the best approach, but it should not be done blindly.
The needs of the company, the skills of the employees, and the desired results of the event should all be taken into consideration. This can only happen properly if the company is able to liaise to some degree with the away day event experts.

It isn't essential that the team building ideas are complex, expensive to run, or impressive. They simply have to work. They should be fun and engaging for the employees. They should force the employees to extend themselves, to reach further and search deeper. Above all, however, team building ideas must be relevant to the long-term goals of the company.

There are two basic kinds of team away day activities: those that engage mainly mental activity; and those that mainly engage mainly physical activity. Each one has its strengths and weaknesses. Usually, team away day activities are a mixture of both kinds with some physical effort required, and some mental effort also required.
Developing great team building ideas becomes easier when you decide which type of activity is best suited to your team. Usually, a physical activity that requires strong mental solutions before any physical exertion can start is a good overall compromise. This forces the team to think things through before jumping in to do it. Often this is extremely relevant in a general sense to work place practices.

In additional to team building away days, consider having the occasional informal meal together with all team members, preferably away from the work place, as one of the less obvious team building ideas.
There need be no pressure on any employee to contribute in any way, other than being there, but nevertheless try to engender an atmosphere of social interaction. This helps to create closer bonding between team members. It helps to establish trust and respect, and of course, it's usually very enjoyable as well as being a little perk that employees can appreciate.
With only a few short months of leading a medical team that provide annual physicals to our clients, she's ready to pack up and leave. The reason: she was frustrated and disappointed from her team members' incapability to follow her exact instructions thus, according to her, they keep making too many mistakes in the process. Because of this, she felt things were out of control which explains her frustrations and helplessness towards work. Things weren't going well as she wants and expects it to be and she want out. I continued to listen as she pours out all her negative emotions toward her team that went to almost an hour until she finally asked for my advice.

My sister, and like many more others, has a different view and understanding of leadership. Clearly for them, leadership is telling people to follow a set of procedures and expects them to follow to the letter. Just like what Henry Ford once complained: "Why do I always get the entire person when I only need is a pair of hands".

Having lead an IT and medical technology department for more that six years combined, I have learned through experience how to nurture work teams and recognize signs that makes them tick. Overall, for my part, leadersip is letting go than controlling. Identifying strengths and liberating creativity than imposing restrictive rules. It all starts with enablement.

Enabling teams is the very first step in bringing out creativity and achieve maximum performance among team members. The following are some useful tips I have learned along the way while leading people in my workplace.

1. Recognize Individual Strengths
Everyone one is unique and are very capable in their own respects. It is counter productive to assign an indivudual on tasks that are not naturally his/her strengths. This can be done by observing closely how individual members work on their regular tasks and if they are passionate and able to do things well in short time – a skill. Start observing things like: how they organize their desks during and after work, the way they talk, the way they write, personal grooming, performance of work duties and etc. These provide small but important clues on how members work naturally and what sort of tasks to assign to them.

2. Failure Is An Option
I remembered a phrase from a well renowned director, James Cameron, while giving a talk at one of the TED conferences. In contrast to popular wisdom particularly in the field of business and sports, he said "Failure must be an option. Fear isn't". Human as we all are, we all make mistakes – period. As leaders, one must have high tolerances for mistakes for it is through them that we discover and learn from.

3. Nurture Independence
The time when I spearheaded an IT team for about six years, my ideas (I thought) were the best ideas until we huddled together for a brainstorming session. I was surprised what my team came up with with a bright idea with very minimum project detail. Work independence means providing them the freehand to think creatively based on their personal strengths. Only one must do, as a leader, is to give and clarify work objectives. Objectives, in this case, must not be too specific as this restricts creative thinking and innovation. Objectives must be very clear and general.

4. Provide necessary tooling
This is the very basic need for every worker in a workplace – tooling. This may be in the form of office supplies, books, softwares, computers or other equipments. In my IT team, I do provide only books and fast intrnet connection and I leave the rest for them to think. One good example in my experience was to look for a solution to integrate communication services in our office. We have emails, chats, document management, and calendar from different providers and ofcourse, with different user logins. Such setup was too much to manage as an administrator. If we were a big company, I can easily opt to buy an expensive software of the rack to finally solve this problem – but money was scarce. With time, patience and an internet connection, I was able to scour for the best solution for a very small fraction of a price.

It must always be remembered that tooling is used to build something economically and much faster. However, simple tools can also be made to make other more complex tools. One of those simple tools, yet the most important one, is the worker's mind.

5. Promote Creativity
A leader's idea is not always the best idea. This is most often times difficult for many leaders to accept. Many leaders are trapped in the thought of them having only the best ideas to contribute thus lending a hand to team inefficiency – unknowingly. Each member has different personal experiences and diffrent set of expertise based from learned experiences. Each one has unique potential that when pulled together can always create maximum results.

Google is one of the many companies I admire that promotes and welcomes new ideas. Their 20 Percent Factor is one novel way of promoting and supporting ideas from employees. In fact, many of their popular services came from their 20 Percent program. No wonder they always come up with better ideas all the time.

6. Strip out rules that hamper creative processes
An oil painter depends largely on his physical capacity and emotions. These are the only set of parameters that he recognize and limits his ability to paint another Mona Lisa. As with any other creative process it must not be defined by strict rules or policies that are common among manfacturing industries. Many companies believe that implementing the same manufacturing stanards like: Six Sigma and ISO will produce the same maximum results. Humans are not like robots that can be restricted in too much bureaucracies and expect significant results. Humans achieve milestone results when allowed to think beyond boundaries of rules, beliefs or any standards.

7. Create a happy environment
Happy employees achieves better outcomes. Any enoromous task, no matter how difficult it can get, becomes easy and light to take on to a happy employee. I experience this first hand in my IT team even when faced with a seemingly impossible task. I noticed also that they are also the most productive employees yet with the most challenging jobs.
There are signs that you need help in time management. The symptoms that you have a time management problem are:

Every day is a complete adventure in your business. You aren't sure what is going to happen on a daily basis.

At the end of each day your task list doesn't even have one item complete on it.

The mere thought of having 16 minutes by yourself to do something is so appealing that it is like a vacation to you.

When any of the above sound familiar it is time to regain control of your schedule and put time management secrets to work that only work for entrepreneurs.
Since we can't "create time" we have to deal with what we have in a day. These 3 secrets will put you on the path toward getting more done in less time.

Keeping the morning to yourself regardless of what anyone else thinks. Most time management problems occur because as entrepreneurs we try and be too helpful. This is our very nature. To gain time we need to be a little selfish. The morning is the most productive time for 90% of small business owners. Keep this to yourself.

Start with the toughest tasks. To feel productive many business owners (myself included at times) start with the easiest tasks first. We figure that if nothing else we got one item done. Start with the toughest tasks first. This may seem bad at first however you will discover that you are able to move your business forward in big ways simply by handling the tough tasks.

Set time segments for each task. Entrepreneurs tend to have poor time management skills because they never force themselves to get a task done in a certain amount of time. They just put a task and figure that it has to be done. The brain is an amazing tool. When you tell yourself (in writing) that you only have 19 minutes to get something done your brain will work hard to get it done. Even if you take 22 minutes that is better than taking 22 days to get something done.

Putting just these 3 time management secrets to work on your behalf your business will start to increase dramatically. As entrepreneurs each hour is precious and the time spent working on your business always comes back 10X.

A report by the ILM revealed that 94 per cent of human resource (HR) workers thought that their senior managers are in need of further development because they are devoid of vital leadership qualities.

The report discovered that 36 per cent of HR professionals thought that the most important leadership characteristic was emotional intelligence, while 34 per cent said it was the ability to motivate employees.
Penny de Valk, chief executive of the ILM, said that investment in management training is crucial because businesses are being held back due to a lack of leadership skills.

He said: "It is a real concern that such a high proportion of HR professionals believe their senior teams are falling short. This leadership skills gap is holding UK businesses back.

"We need to get better at developing these essential people leadership capabilities, such as the ability to motivate, alongside the 'harder' technical, professional and commercial skills."

Organisations that recognise the need to enhance their management capabilities may benefit from employing performance improvement consulting firms who will be able to deliver strategic and tactical transformation.
Meanwhile, a report by XpertHR states that the number of people resigning from their job has decreased by 50 per cent over the past three years.

Employee resignation is still the most common reason for someone to leave their job in 2010 with an average of 36 workers choosing the departure method per company compared to 72 in 2007.

There are also less workers opting for retirement in 2010 as an average of only five employees per company took retirement this year compared with ten, three years ago.

XpertHR editor Charlotte Wolff said that there was an intriguing rise in the number of employees leaving due to redundancies or reaching the end of their fixed-term contracts since 2007.

She said: "[Fixed-term contract termination] is arguably an easier way for employers to cut back on staff numbers and employment costs during difficult times."

Organisations that want to lower their staff turnover may want to invest in performance improvement consulting services as business experts will be able to increase employee morale.

Race to the Future, a report by Race for Opportunity, has urged businesses to act now and adapt for changes to the UK's population as the University of Leeds predicts that more than one in five Brits will be from an ethnic minority by 2051.
They are not getting the sales volume they want, or experience anxiety because their members fail. Regardless if these people express their feelings to others or not, they want to see something in return for their efforts. We don't have control over what happens in our down line's business, but we can teach them ways to get better results from their efforts.

If you are ready to find ways to decrease your anxiety, and relieve the stress, then give away more responsibility. When you take this approach to coaching members, you'll feel happier, motivated and excited about what you do. This is how it works. When you find a promising new recruit, with all the qualities and skills needed to work in the business, think about how you can support your member without you feeling stress and disappointment. Separate yourself from the outcome of the member's efforts. By making no assumptions, you will want to find out what your members' business goals are, asking a few questions like:

o What kind of future do you see for your business and yourself?
o What are your dreams, and what commitment are you willing to make to achieve it?
o How much time are you willing to give to build your business?
o What can I do to help you build a strong business?

By learning what your team members want from their business; you can stay focused on their goals instead of dwelling on your own. When you can see their goals, you can better serve their needs and the members learn from you, and their business grows.

As you teach and guide the team, stay in the present and follow your plan for completing your goals. The only job you have is to guide and separate yourself from the outcome. It is up to your members what they do in their business. This doesn't mean you have no interest in your members, it just means you release yourself from the outcome of their business. Whether it fails or succeeds. If you are appropriately coaching and serving the members needs, your team should have better results. Once you learn how to separate yourself from the outcome, you'll feel more confidence and have a more positive attitude. You'll be able to motivate and support your team without feeling anxiety about what will happen.
