After the bombshell findings of Murine Leukemia Virus Related Virus (XMRV) being discovered in American CFS patients and this finding being published in the highly coveted SCIENCE journal (Lomardi et al, 2009 - Detection of an infectious retrovirus XMRV in the blood cells of patients with CFS) by the Whittemore Peterson Institute (WPI) and this finding confirmed as real by the American government FDA and published in PNAS journal (Alter et al, 2010 - Detection of MLV-related virus gene sequences in blood of patients with chronic fatigue syndrome and healthy blood donors) who discovered polytrophic MULV's in CFS patients - things in Europe aren't so rosy. Or so people are lead to believe..... due to the silence in the media and endless 'failed' studies using outspoken denialists of ME/CFS, methods that cannot detect XMRV and a cohort of psychiatrically ill people who do not meet the Criteria for neuro immune CFS or ME. The British and Dutch say they can't find XMRV, and it's probably contamination, and thus won't fund any more studies because they cannot find anything. Three years ago, doctors diagnosed Brenden with leukemia. The boy who once rushed through homework so he could play outside found himself confined to a bed. But there was no confining his spirit. A video of my beloved two-year-old pōpoki engaged in some odd behavior he's picked up over the last few weeks: grabbing his stuffed animal toy by its neck, slowly dragging it around in a circle, then dropping to the ground with it, and appearing to kick at it. Rinse and repeat. This occurs several times in a row, and always with the same toy. He appears to be in a trance, as if concentrating hard on what he's doing. He's indoors-only, neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV (feline leukemia) FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), gets fed twice a day with wet/dry (Wellness CORE Fish & Fowl for Cats/Wellness Grain-Free Canned Chicken), receives a snack at night, has lots of toys/huge cat tree/numerous scratching posts, and receives lots of love and attention every day. If it helps, he's a bottle-fed kitten; we've had him since he was a two-week-old, 8-oz newborn kitten. He's never done this prior. With certain toys, he'd carry them into his mouth, drop them on the ground, and utter a plaintive "meow" as if communicating to them ... he did this mainly at night while we were asleep. That's the only odd thing he's done before. A volunteer at a no-kill cat shelter mentioned it might be a show of aggression/dominance? He's the alpha cat in our multiple-cat household of 3, but he's never tried to show dominance on the other cats by trying to hump them, or bite their neck to hold them down. He gets along with both, and he's been around them ...
