My Conversations with God Part I [Satire]

Well God came to Sarah on the 23rd day. Well, why 23rd? Aye! God got to pick a day right, so well he/it sort of honed in on the 23rd as good as any other day. Well, so it/he/she was here, well Sarah was sort of like being nosy poking her nose in where it wasn't needed, so guess it took her a while to figure out that God was right in front of her. Well blimey, who said, u gotta acknowledge God as soon as it comes yeah, it's more like "ahtithi tum kab jaaoge" syndrome, which means that God is like sort of an unwanted guest whose departure you wait for as you gotta stand on your best behavior when God is around, get my point? Exactly!

So now God stood there in waiting for Sarah to recognize that it was in the vicinity, poor Sarah, she had to sort of leave all the work in hand and sort of give bhaav or pay attention to God lest he/she/it becomes roothi hui or sort of upset that Sarah did not give it it's due respect. Okay, well! Sarah if not for anything is called insane about God you see, oh well, she sort of said "Hello, God! Yeah, it took you a while to get here, is it? How come you are such a latekate sort of, yeah?"

So God, you know when he is in the wrong and is being chastised is like a schoolboy that forgot his homework who looks all puzzled and innocent, well, God did the same. It gave Sarah a puzzled, innocent sort of lost boy look and said, "I did not receive any message that you were looking for me, I was um...just passin' by and sort of thought, MAY BE, JUST MAY BE you might remember some message for me, so sort of just dropped in."

Sarah was left bereft of words, speechless hanging her jaw. Any more the jaw drops, I guess it'd have been like Krishna's gala (throat) that showed the whole universe in the throat that Krishna seems to have gobbled up. Well, huh! So Sarah was sort of left clueless as to what God was hinting at. Score God 1 : Sarah 0.

So whatever, after this disgraceful mnemonics of entry, God sort of settled down to partake of some of the refreshments that Sarah in foresight had prepared um some days back for unexpected guests. God was sort of relishing the delights, when Sarah stood glumly looking at God wondering what the hullabaloo was all about.

God patted Sarah on the shoulder and sort of asked, [did he belch before that? Oh, well, sort of the noise from the car revving up in the opposite garage sort of submerged the belching sound, so can't be sure if that was a belch or a car's silencer failing for once, so sort of Sarah gives the benefit of doubt to God, you see, she does love God a little] "Sarah, what do you want?"

Ah! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DID I hear that right?

Sarah stared in absolute amazement in silence shocked witless as to what God's game was. You see, God's a trickster and he gotta have something sinister up his/it's sleeve, else, why would God give or grant wishes that are unasked, ain't you gotta sort of beg for them like till death do us apart from our wishes or so, well, dunno, something is fishy here and Sarah smelled a cat or is that a rat that God was hiding. God save Sarah, God seems to have made Sarah a butt of its jokes, and seems to be playing out some hidden agenda.

So Sarah was sort of cautious and looked at God a trifle doubtfully with a lot of trepidation and said, "oh, yeah, should you be asking, haven't you been paying attention lately?"

God answered, "well, I've been busy, my phone has not stopped ringing since time eternal, so whatever you want, just have your say and be done with it."

Dang! Sarah did not know what hit her, is this for real?

So she sort of decided two can play at this game.

She said, "well, you know God I've been thinking, very deeply off late [really? Huh! God I am sure was smirking inside.] [TUT TUT! GOD], and realized what a thankless job it is you do, and as to how tough it is to be God bestowing riches on the globe and the universe, and as to how you gotta be all serious to keep everyone in line so that they all are well behaved, good, and not so greedy. I realize that you do a super job of being God and you just have such super power wherein, you sort of keep on smiling despite all the troubles that those um....your children or your employees keep giving you and sort of like you being the boss despite the mistakes and shoddy job they do has to sort of not lose your cool and gotta be benign and all that jazz. Well, since I know and have experienced all that by being an observer, I decided I am gonna...."

God interrupted gently crunching and munching on a juicy apple, "well, can you cut the monologue short, I got an appointment at the hair-dresser," looking at his/it's watch, so Sarah sort of clammed up that instant and said, "Oh, God! are u gettin' late, dude, why don't you just go now?"

God said, "no gal, tell me what you want."

Well now that Sarah got a warning level increase as to wastage of time, she decided on economy of words and pronto said, "Let me be Satan, since it seems to have all the FUN."

God was stunned witless and just stared at Sarah with jaws hanging and sort of like stunned to a statue. Score God 1 : Sarah 1.

A Failed Dream

He slowly came to, aware of himself and his surroundings, as if coming out of a sleep, or going into sleep in one universe and waking up in that parallel universe of dreams.

Suddenly, he felt something banging against his legs, or what felt like legs, at any rate. Looking down he found out that he was running. The ground beneath must be curving upwards which would explain the added force on the legs. He tried to gather his thoughts, but could only remember that he had to run as fast as he could. Not that there was any effort involved – running was the only state of existence he knew. From what?

He tried to look at what was around. No he couldn’t see anything interesting in particular. It was as if there was only nothingness around him. And the magnitude of that absence started multiplying the more he ran, as if his vision continued to expand every moment with not only what was in the field of sight, but with also what he had seen the previous moment, the moment before that, and the moment before that. He could see all of the past and the current at every instant. Was he a continuous beam of light being introduced into a cube of mirrors, multiplying images inside by reflecting again and again off the six faces? This is probably how light sees the images that are created by itself – all at the same time. Those images do not exist when light is absent. In any case, everything is probably simultaneous for light. Wasn’t that what the theory of relativity also seemed to expound. There, he had proof too.

But introduced into a closed cube of mirrors how? Through a hole, perhaps. But then, wouldn’t some of the light escape through that hole, and wouldn’t he start seeing more images – images of the outside? This probably proves that life is not fed into a body from the outside, he thought. Granting that he was light inside a cube, what images might he see? Of nothingness. Yes that made sense. Did it? Not particularly, but it was satisfactory, since that is what he also could discern around – a pattern of nothingness. Something agreed with something else.

He tried to concentrate on this pattern of nothingness in his vision. Rather, “vision.” How could he be certain that he could be seeing things the way the definition of the word “sight” that he remembered, implied? He didn’t yet know what he was, and the formal definition of “sight” that he remembered seemed to apply to living things. It might mean something different to, say, a beam of light, which he very much could be at this point of time. Hence quotes were needed when using these words. But he had thought about “vision” and “sight” just a bit back, without the quotes. He should correct his thought. But that was not possible – even for light it is not possible to go back in time. But if he is light, how are his thoughts ordered one after the other – all thoughts must happen at the same time, according to his relativity theory of a few moments ago. Maybe he was not going at the speed of light, but only very very fast.

The more he tried to concentrate at the pattern, the more it started dissolving into nothingness. A non-existent pattern of an absence. Helps a truck-full, he thought.

Wait, the curved land was flattening off at the top, and he felt some light shining on himself, as if he were a real person running up a real mountain, in time to see the rise of the early morning sun, which for its part, was real. He felt like being roused from a deep meditation. Like being gently prodded while sleeping. The pattern of nothingness started assuming shapes, though not very definite ones yet. In the images he could see in front, he could not only see vague shapes in the way that the notion of “sight” in his head seemed to suggest he would, if he experienced it according to the definition of it that he remembered, but also, himself. He didn’t recognize his shape or form, but instinctively knew that it was him. That is, he could see what he should and he could also kind of, sort of, see himself. Hmmm… That didn’t make any sense. Unless, he was an electric signal this time, not light, mind you, but an electric signal, which was running around inside his own brain. That way, you could see things that you would see when running around inside someone’s brain, and you would also see yourself, being the owner of that brain inside which this running around was being executed.

Brains! Yuck! The thought made him cringe.

But he was suddenly stimulated by the pleasant aroma of coffee from somewhere. Yes, yes, “smell” as implied by the definition of that word he remembered – like living things smell. This business with quotes is becoming rather difficult, he thought. If he were to become president, he would abolish the use of quotes.

The smell of coffee started bringing definiteness to the vague images he was seeing. First they became black-and-white images, and then they became color images, and finally 3-D images. Holograms?

He saw people that he remembered, and who he didn’t like so much. Wary of that, he decided to romance a few drop-dead gorgeous women. Soon he was walking along a boulevard where there were odalisques lining the road instead of trees. He felt very happy that by concentrating hard enough, he could decide what was happening around him. That was a momentary lapse of complacency and suddenly another spontaneous thought bullied into his head – he had an exam to write that day.

He suddenly sat up in his bed. A steaming hot cup of coffee was on the bed-side. He saw a book on abstract algebra on the table.

He woke up, and started dressing. Before locking his door he looked at his bed and with a nod to no one in particular, he concluded that he had missed the fact that the definitions of the words that he had used to think in terms of, should have suggested to him his form and existence.

Dear Yahoo Inc.,

When you bought out Inktomi, I screamed in delight at adding a Lakota feather to your cap, but today I am almighty sad that you seem to love the change doctrine a tad too much and take it too seriously.

What you don't need is another CEO change at the top, what you need is rethink on your strategy as to why you lost the plot in the search engine business that Google seems to have taken a major cut of and ran with it to the bank.

What is it that you did not do that a Google did? Nothing? So how come they are beating the street while you are languishing in the deep? Is it a case of alliances (in the case of Google) and too much over emphasis on side-notes (in the case of Yahoo)? One can't really tell where you seemed to have given up and let your rivals beat you hollow in the search engine space.

Guess it has to do with the fact that you tried to pitch yourself as an allrounder doing a bit of this, a bit of that, with a stake in all the pies and did not think of SEARCH as your sole inheritance. Nor does it seem like you wanted to create a culture of breaking code inhouse before testing the markets if one takes a look at your failed attempt at Buzz, which incidentally even Google failed to make any better than you.

Industry and former employees of course peg it at your door as to your dallying with wanting to be the leader in one too many niche areas while not consolidating your supremacy on Search. They seem to think it has to do with a lack of a "technology cult" and a "hacker cult" at Yahoo with bad hiring policies bringing not-the-best-of programmers on to your rolls.

They cite the love of the green lucre becoming too much with paid advertising, while I think it was a good plan to be an alternative to Madison Avenue but that somewhere you lost that plot too with overindulgence and unrealistic gains that anyway fall flat when the bubble bursts. Sad is the fact that you did not have a contingency plan in place to handle such an eventuality.

Today, I see that you are trying to reinvent yourself once again with the Yahoo Advertising Platform, which sadly, comes too late in the day after the AdBrite Exchange and Google AdSense have taken over the industry by storm with Google even introducing the Google Affiliate Network. This is where Yahoo Inc and Microsoft with their joint collaboration on the Advertising Platform seem to want to hedge their bets against a market that is almost reaching a stage where there needs to be a head on collision and a MARKET CORRECTION. But here is where predominantly, success will be dependent on stealth marketing, guerrilla marketing, and very well conceived battle plans, almost like pulling the sails right from under their noses. Consolidation by buying smaller players or well established smaller players could fetch benefits, but then again, what about SEARCH my dear Yahoo?

Confectionery Market Trends From the Heart of a Little Boy

Well, it's time for this blog to take its mind off stuff and just go back to play with the kids "market market."

Remember those days when you were a boy in nickers or a gal in pig tails running off to the corner store or bakery to buy some candy or crisps? You had those gol-gol (round-round) orange globs of candy, some chocolate or white peppermints or some Glaxo or Parry biscuits. Well, today the confectionery,candy, crisps, biscuit market is doing wonders for a child's freedom of choice.

Here is a case in point: Got a five note, go for Lays, Bingo, Uncle Chips, or some local brand of crisps that come in all shapes, flavors, and sizes.

Got a 10er, go for the same in a bigger size.

The candy market king has practically been taken over by a premium brand such as Kinder Joy that comes at Rs. 30.00 with just two thin rounds of white chocolate covered in dark chocolate with some cream on the side, a spoon and the USP that is most attractive a small play item that can be assembled such as a race car or so. While an eclairs might cost Re. 1.00, still children would want their parents to shell out that Rs. 30.00 just for the sake of the gadget that would not even cost a measly Rs. 5.00 in open market. Packaging is attractive too with the egg-shaped orange and white casing almost making it look like an exquisite product that has its own image.

Coming to the mint market, Polo or the "mint with the hole" has made mince meat of all other peppermint as well as instant mouth freshener candy market just by dint of the HOLE!

In the biscuit market, there seems to be a war for the palates happening among the premium player "Dark Fantasy" with its Rs. 30.00 packaged creamed Dark Fantasy and the Rs.21.00 priced localized International priced brand "dunk it" Oreo. Now the catch is Dark Fantasy that is available without the cream like chocolate chip cookies is more freely available in the local stores as compared to the creamed ones so Oreo scores in the local stores with it's Rs.11.00 priced smaller sized packet.

While these brands have captured the minds of young kids and keep ruling their hearts, it looks like the Five Stars, the Cadbury's Dairy Milk etc., have their one set of advocates among the grown ups. Nestle Kitkat, Amul, Bournville have their own set of chocolate lovers but at the end of the day "children" with "candy" is a must for this segment of the market spend. Do we see that the children's candy/chocolate/crisps/confectionery markets having more spend? Looks like deeper pockets and increased pocket monies for the kids in the neighborhood while they keep up with their peer spenders seems to be a goal for the confectionery markets in India.

A Return to the Roots

Everyone that mattered to him was in that bus. In the chaotic state of his mind, he couldn’t delineate between friends and family. Maybe he didn’t have any family other than his friends, or maybe he didn’t have any friends, including within the family. He couldn’t be certain about anything in the current state, he thought. Wasn’t he told that they were only in some critical condition? No, no. He was certain they were all dead. Gone. For good. “For good?” he thought.

He gave up his thoughts for a moment, and started observing himself. Was he crying? Were his hands trembling? Were they cold? Was he sitting slumped? He seemed to be sitting perfectly fine. He then looked around himself. From as much as he could gather, he was in a car, and most importantly one that hadn’t caught fire, or drowned in water, or had just undergone a head-on collision with a bull-dozer.

“Collision? Bull-dozer? Maybe that bus that I keep thinking about was in an accident. Yes, that’s most definitely it.”

And he was driving. Alone.

Outside, the line of trees was passing by quickly. Not so much a line of trees, as bodies of vegetation, indistinguishable by parts. The speed of the car could be felt here much better than where he had settled down permanently. The undulations on the road converted to vertical acceleration by the forward movement of the car and the haphazard oscillations of the suspension jolted him frequently, but without a fixed frequency, and conveyed that he was now going too slow, a little too fast then, maybe a little carelessly there. How can some accident occur to anyone driving with such an additional aid to driving? Maybe it cannot happen. Maybe it was not an accident. He felt dreadful thoughts settling upon his brain like a fog covering over a morbid swamp. He shook his head violently to dispel those thoughts, to scatter the fog away into smaller wisps through whose clearing one could see, though not clearly, but enough to convince oneself that one wasn’t completely blind.

A shrill horn brought him back to the road ahead. He banked hard on the steering to bring the car back into the correct lane and escape a speeding truck coming straight at his car.

His thoughts settled back on the road, but slowly drifted off into the surroundings looking for some more pleasant thought to pursue, like a search-light on the look-out for the survivor of a sunken ship. It chanced back on the trees around. He tried to contemplate the trees. They seemed to grow at will in these parts, in defiance of the regularity that the human-made constructions tried to impose on nature’s playful whims. Compared to these, the more pleasant boulevards he had gotten used to of late, seemed over-simplifications. Those constructions, rather mutilations of the face of nature, were concrete lines drawing the boundaries of human ability in trying to capture the essence of the complex designs of that most adept hand that shapes our habitats. If a coup d’état were to occur on the human dominion, real or illusory, on planet earth, this would be the epicenter of the attacks. This thought seemed only almost fantastic to him, and he smiled at the possibility as if plotting with the forces of nature.

He saw an old bus huffing and puffing behind him on the rear-view mirror. Pictures of the buses of old passed through his mind. He compared briefly, the comfortable trips in the metropolis in ultra-modern buses with air-conditioning, to the travels (“travails” he had thought the first time he boarded one of those new buses) he had had in one of these dilapidated machines. His new-age buses, whose air-tight glasses imprisoned the traveler denying him direct contact with the world outside, were toys of comfort. In those, you breathed recycled air, heard muffled sounds from outside, and saw sights through glass windows, which had lost their authenticity. One never experiences a particular sensation in isolation, he thought. All of the senses come together to create a symphony of awareness. When one is taken away or obscured, the others can become annoying.

Thinking back to his childhood, he could still almost feel the wind on his face, when travelling on the foot-board, cooling his sweat covered brow, instantly lighting up his mood, and could hear the roar of the engines then heard uninhibited, by those within and without – for those within it was an assurance of speed, especially for the school kids for whom it was a victory march; for those without, it was the roar of the king of the road, and a signal to make way. True, those trips were difficult, physically. But they were fun. He pulled down the glasses, to feel again that breeze and hear again that sound. A hot atmosphere greeted his dry face, the sounds emanating from the bus were like the squeaks of a rusted nut against a badly greased bolt, and the stench of garbage filled his nostrils.

The bus stopped at the bottom of a slope. He sped forward and upwards. The road became empty, and his mind, for want of stimulus, became restless and went back to delve on what had brought him here, driving carelessly in his car. He resigned himself to those ruminations.

He hadn’t realized that his people, rather the people he had wanted to forget, from his native place that he had almost forgotten, had gotten so much hold on him. He was having the best time of his life, what with his career on an upward spiral, and laurels coming from every quarter. He was enjoying freedom and success like never before. It was a long while since he had heard anything from them, not least because he had told them – “I need a few years to enjoy by myself. Do not try to tie me down with your ways and your customs. I am more educated than any of you, and have many more opportunities in front of me.” He had stepped out of their lives, and stepped into a career at that point of time. Now it was time to go back. He had debts to pay. Money was not a problem, but freedom was. He had gotten used to a life free of mind-numbing dogmas. At the same time, neither their phone calls nor his nasty conscience would let him be. He was needed, now more than at any other point of time. And they were not talking about his position or his wealth. He remembered having thought that either one of the two had to die – his conscience or … He didn’t remember what the other one was. Or was he trying to forget?

No, he was pretty sure that he hadn’t had any part in any of this. Maybe he had wanted to be alone in this world. Maybe he had desired it so strongly that his will had finally succeeded. But that’s like prayer! He smirked at the thought. If that had been the case, it was equally probable that to have them out of his life, it was enough for his own existence in a world inhabited by them to come to an end. With that thought he started feeling tired after having driven for so long. His grip on the steering wheel loosened, and the car began to swerve. There was a cliff overhanging the road…

A few minutes later, sixteen ECG machines in a multi-specialty hospital after being silent for a while, simultaneously registered a beep.

Ah! The malady that strikes one to be contradictory, all in the space of a few secs., :) well, I lay no claim to any fame, but then, I love flipping the coin from time-to-time, and this is for all those blokes who think this blog is serious or that it holds strong on just one point of view, no sire, NO! We do love playing dumb charades cause we are too dumb for the intelligentsia, you see!

Well, getting back to the topic of this post...

We think we have changed
We feel we have changed
We proclaim "O, what a change!" or "how times have changed"

What exactly did change?
Did man sprout another head or how about 10 heads like the figurative Ravana of Indian mythology/history Ramayana?
Or may be man became so invincible that he had conquered everything on earth and in nature?

Yeah, yeah sure!
We have advanced to kill all germs and sow more supergerms.

Yeah, yeah fine!
We are so fine that we know how to fly to distant planets and come back to the stratosphere, sure enough we got something to boast off right?!

But, but,,,and a big BUT at that
Did man stop to hate another man?
Did man learn to be tolerant of another man?
Did man stop to usurp the rights of other man? Or even the rights of other living beings?

Yeah, yeah sure
We got WWF, Save the Pets, Blue Cross, and the millions of foundations that cater to victims of some ill or the other.
Did man break the narrow boundaries of his thinking to embrace all mankind?

Come on now, be fair, they do try right?! By NOOK or CROOK!

Satire: Change...she seems to gallop @ of a Ferrari Race Car

Today was a big day for this poor ol' gal stuck in backstreets of India's little town. She suddenly realized that she is gonna become obsolete like those old Morris Minor or those tossed out yesterday's salad dressings :)

See, the problem is, she is technology conscious but not a techno freak who can adapt to technology at the drop of a hat. Like most people of her kind, she feels that technology's only niche area or focus area is making human life better or making a task easier to do, saving time and labor.

She does not really understand the phenomenon of technology for technology's sake though the purist in her does believe in the Alvin Toffler claim of technology fine tuning itself on existing technology and growing better as the days go by to race forward at jet speed.

Knowing it, but unable to accept as to what good is technology, except to make LIFE better or living better, she is wont to thinking of just basic needs like food, clothing, shelter, which all human beings need apart from technology to save LIFE predominantly from natural calamities or disease, and secondarily from looters of life. Apart from this, she does not see much use for technology apart from improving the quality of life.

But then, the problem is she is too simple you see, she is a tad like a country bumpkin who goes to Times Square and can't do anything but compare the city lights to the lack of power lines in her village or as to how they spend over Rs. 77 lakhs on LED bulbs to illuminate the Mysore palace for the Dussera while villages are facing problems for lack of basic amenities like power/electricity, proper primary healthcare, education, sanitation etc., or as to how it is well neigh impossible for small farmers to survive while middlemen are fixing the sourcing or basic prices or as to how some 2G/3G scam tainted central minster's prodigal son is controlling the base price of Turmeric at the lowest and literally causing havoc in the market squeezing out the last drop of blood from the toiling farmer.

What does it matter to her if there is a Ferrari running at breakneck speed on the super highways when her village burns and weeps?!

Are you in the red, orange, or green in your usage of the web, mobile telephony and your communications?

Red=national threat; orange=moderate/just watch; green=safe bet

Depending on our communications, we are being labelled as national threat, moderate, safe bet, etc.,
By this token, this blog should be falling under the red zone or danger zone.

Our each and every move is being mapped against some symptom or the other and we are each one of us making it to one list or another depending on our every activity, communication, timeline much like COINTELPRO. We are being psychologically profiled to fit one label or the other and legislation to control us will be more extensive as days go by to make us toe the line or else pay the price.

The web and communication networks are being intelligently mined to keep track of every cough and twist and no wonder our every move could lead us down the garden path to our eventual fall from grace - JUST CAUSE?!

Defence of Life Vs. Defence of Political borders a.k.a Nations

This one is going down to the wire. Need to know like last decade or so, when it comes to the question of Life Vs. State, which is more important to protect? Which do you defend?

The state that claims to protect the life of the individual in its domain puts it at risk time and again, plays with life at the drop of a hat for its political ambitions, for its dreams of world super powerdom. It jeopardizes human life and destroys their rights.

So what then is the state defending or protecting? It claims that some madman somewhere from some hole in the ground is going to rage them to ground and hence they wage a war against where they put LIFE at stake. As long as nations and states display these imperialist dreams of world hegemony, one can be certain that the thing called LIFE will always be a victim at the hands of greedy, avaricious, hungry men and women whose only agenda is to take control of mankind by any unfair means.

Frankly speaking none of these men or women are doing all this out of love of mankind or love of LIFE, but they are doing it to extend their own power arc, or to become the power center that determines the LIFE of several people. It is just EGO and the NATURE of OPPRESSION. All men/women in power aspire for nothing but to use people, the natural wealth, the hard work and effort of people to build their own power domain and to make people pawns in their games of superiority. In the garb of doing good they just are mere prospectors that dig out the gold from the hearts of mankind and usurp life by trying to dictate who lives, what lives, and what is life.

By claiming to protect LIFE, the state merely creates an illusion that the LIFE of its citizens is in danger. Like all game players they twist and turn the knobs in our head and we fall prey to these machinations believing in the bogeyman of "a hidden dark demon lurking in the darkness waiting to pounce on us and deprive us of OUR LIFE." Ultimately, they bring your life into question. They make us feel that unless we trust in their politications we will not be able to protect our LIFE or be able to HAVE A LIFE ITSELF. What a bloody lie that is?!

We have all types of fanatics rearing their head at the drop of a hat this season.

Everyone wants to go by the theme party "I AM A LEGEND"

Interestingly enough, this leaves one talking point, "Why do I care?" "What is it to me?" "What the Hell?" Well coming to it, even the myth of Hell needs to be busted.

It is best to revisit some of the myths, faloodas, fantasies, masala, mirchi and the rasogullas this season.

The myth of man's invincibility turning into a fallacy, and busted every time there is a storm, a flood, or a simple shower of rain.

The fantasy that men live by a creed that is honest and true a mere illusion that is unraveling before our very eyes every single time another head honcho bites the dust and sullies the so called myth of the ideal man.

The gobbledygook that every government comes up with from time-to-time in the name of law.

The delusion of the imaginative man turning into a nightmare due to the unimaginative tryst of so-called thinking man.

What is the point in continuing when we seem to be stuck at a point of no return so to speak.

Random Jottings of an Illiterate: Information Overload, Fatigue, Bankruptcy

Well! Been a while since I've been around these parts aye! The world seems to have changed and guess I could be sued for calling a spade errrr...what? Wotever-ergh!

Today I seem to know the method to the madness, it is not hard to figure out you see. Imagine you were to try and fit a half pound cheesecake in a quarter tin. Eggjactly, my point too...impossible, stoopid, dumb, wotevah-ergh!

Fancy this! We got a brain the size of a pea and we wanna pump in information the size of a pumpkin, errrr..I fail to see the logic behind this...do they say brains expand? Or may be they can be stretched like a rubber band right? But then stretch it too far...and oh, the cracks are all visible to see.

I s'ppose what is evident is that we have too much of information at our disposal and how about them emails, one too many aye!

Sometimes, I wish we were still stuck in the dark ages with no technology, no electricity. Guess why?

Cause we are no better than we were earlier, cause we got an out-sized chip on our shoulder, cause we just know as much as we IMAGINE we know...but what about all that we don't imagine, aye!

Now all this so-called SOPA, PIPA, etc., is nothing but information bankruptcy just like email bankruptcy. I wonder what the Open Source community have to say about that! Also, wonder what would have happened of the Internet or even for that matter computers or technology or even science for that matter if the first man did not invent the transistor or electronics or anything for that matter. Now, I wanna ask, how much royalty do we pay to the man that invented power, invented electronics, invented electricity, invented the motor of the world?

Doggone question aye! But then how can a village idiot like me know, how can an absolute illiterate like me know aye!

What would it take for you to remove all the demarcation zones?

What would it take for you to remove the religion incorporated in the mindset of the world and the culture of the world?

What would it take for you to revise our world's structure?

What would it take for you to remove all boundaries?

What indeed would it take for you to let mankind live in harmony and peace?

Please let the world know.

When enough is enough in the structures, strictures, parameters, perimeter you draw for us mankind and control our consciousness, life, and living.

We want to break free.

Rejoinder: Greed is the Cause Célèbre NOT Creativity on the Road to Dishonesty

This writeup is a rejoinder to the HBS featured question "Are Creative People More Dishonest?" based on an article in a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. In "The Dark Side of Creativity: Original Thinkers Can Be More Dishonest," study by Francesca Gino, an associate professor at Harvard Business School, who wrote the article with Dan Ariely of Duke University.

Come on now HBS before you feature such a study and validate it under your aegis. What exactly is creativity? And who are they calling dishonest? Guess, they have such skimpy definitions of both creativity and what constitutes honesty or dishonesty it looks like.

It belies the fact that CREATIVITY as a subject of study can extend from here to the ends of universe if you take the fact that the concept of Universe itself is an aspect that is a creation of some intelligent brain.

So does that not mean that the first individual who propounded the concept of universe is the biggest con man of all to rival a Bernie Madoff or a fictional Gordon Gecko or a real life Mike Milken? Or how about all those church leaders, priest and pope who keep lying to you every single day that there is a God, and that this God is benign. Or what about those guys who called the earth as flat or may be that is not a lie after all and may be the earth is flat and those who proved it otherwise are wrong cause who to trust right?

There is nothing about the creative process that fuels deception except that deception is a game people like to play to con themselves and con others. Creativity is the process, being creative is a process. Deception is not the end result of creative process or deception is not the means of a creative process. A creative process is the tool that is used by deception.. It is very much like the chicken and the egg problem. But this raises an issue, do we not deceive ourselves in our creative process thinking that we are creating something unique or that our creation is the be-all and end-all or the solution to all ills or that it is unique? Interesting to explore!

The idea to deceive should be first conceived in some individual who then uses the substance and style of creative processes and creative implements to weave the web of deception. You might raise a point as to the original idea of deception itself being a creation. But here the crux is some creations exist within the scheme of man's creation itself. So, do we say that nature itself is deceptive in its creative creed? So that does lay some weight on Ms. Gino's work, with the original thinker who conceived the universe and the dogma of life and creation itself being a conman or dishonesty doctor of all that is conceived.

We cannot be compelled to toe the line.

We cannot be taken for joy rides in your obsolete plane - we have the gadgets and we have the conviction to fly on our own.

Don't deceive yourself that you are the master of all that you purvey.

Just because people put you in power, don't try to build castles in the air.

Let this be a reminder to your obnoxiousness that THOUGHT IS FREE and like the air, and water that you are taking a monopoly of lately, YOU SHALL NOT TAKE CONTROL of thought even with all your strictures, manipulations or meta math.

A Game of Marbles

"Have you lost your marbles?" always brings me to the answer, "yeah sure, ever since I grew up or grew out of my ponytails." What say folks? Did you think I am doggone kidding, aye!

Well, here I am talking about the marbles of the glass, agate kind and not those veritable find of marbles in the brain or lack thereof :-)

Now let's see if I can explain what those shiny glass orbs do to little kids who hold them in their hands and look at the sun right through them. Great lord Shin, it's the most beautiful sight one can conceive. You will be greedy for more of the same cause seeing is believing, and the colors that those colorful glass pieces reflect are vintage.

History has it that a marble was first conceived in the heart of the Himalayas from seeing the reflection of the rays on a piece of ice and thus conceptualized, the Indus Valley civilization took pride in making it a part of their culture. Games evolved or were invented to make use of this new gadget in their armory.

The allure of marbles is timeless and universal; spanning culture, generation, language, and class.

There isn't a single kid on the block where I come from who did not love marbles. If a game of dice is what lost people their kingdoms according to folklore or mythology, then a game of marbles is what made or marred friendships or let fists fly in my adda. Kids heckled, fists flew in a flurry, freaking, shrieks, shouts of glee - all were a hallmarks of playing a game of marbles.

Instead of explaining on my own about this fab game and fab object from memory and days of yore, let me resort to this brilliant article on the history and gaming of marbles.
