The games are held every four years, and this year’s edition is being held in Glasgow, Scotland. The Telegraph notes, “It is the first time the children have appeared in public in Scotland, although they have traveled to the country privately, including to stay at Balmoral each summer.” 

The family’s first stop was at the netball semi-final game between Australia and Jamaica.

Netball is similar to basketball but with significant differences: there is no dribbling or running with the ball, and it is a non-contact sport.

The game was at The Hydro arena. This is the ninth day of competition at the Games, which wrap up tomorrow.

The family sat with members of Scotland’s netball team, the Scottish Thistles. In this image, you see Lexy Gillies next to the Prince of Wales.

Here is a post on social media from Ms. Gillies with a tongue-in-cheek reference to her “new pal, HRH.”  It was a fierce battle between the two teams. 

Jamaica won in an upset, beating Australia’s number one-ranked team. 

Scottish Thistles team member Hannah Leighton shared photos from today’s game on her Instagram page.

As the family left the arena, they met volunteers and others who work behind the scenes to make the games successful. 

We learn more from this Press Association story. 

They met gold medal-winning para powerlifter Mark Swan and gymnast Reuben Ward on the concourse outside the venue.

Commonwealth Games mascot Finnie also high-fived George, Charlotte and Louis and fist-bumped Kate and William.

Below, you see the family chatting with the athletes. Rebecca English of The Daily Mail reported, “William asked the gold medal winner to explain how much he can lift in a way the youngsters could understand. Mark told them: ‘I can lift a grand piano or 19 corgi dogs.’ Charlotte and Louis gasped.”

Where they encountered some familiar faces. 

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have attended several days of competition; the Duke is Vice-Patron of Commonwealth Sport. In this photo, you also see Sir Chris Hoy, six-time Olympic Gold medalist, seated in front of the Princess of Wales.

At the velodrome, they met Sir Chris Hoy and Dame Laura Kenny.

Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were given the honour of updating the medal tally board. 

The Princess of Wales disclosed that Dame Laura, the five-time Olympic champion cyclist, had tried to convince William and Catherine to “come and give it a go”, joking that she had replied: “Be careful what you wish for as they want to put us on a tandem bike in the velodrome.”

Gethin Jones, the Welsh TV presenter, asked Prince George, 13, Charlotte and Louis: “Would you like to see mum and dad on a tandem in the velodrome later?” George replied: “No.”

Prince William said: “We embarrass you enough as it is.”

The family also spent time with Welsh athletes, coaches, and their families at Wales House in Glasgow. That is the Welsh mascot on the right, Gwen the Dragon.

We learn details from this Daily Mail story by Rebecca English. 

The family of five received a warm welcome from the Welsh athletes and their families as they arrived at Wales House in the centre of Glasgow. They chatted with the athletes and their proud parents for over five minutes, asking about their achievements and how they prepared for the Games.

William and Catherine led their children over to speak to identical twin gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper who won bronze medals within an hour of each other earlier in the week.Catherine asked: ‘And what are you doing? As Charlotte was asking, are you doing a lot of stretching and conditioning?’ They nodded and said they do a mix of both to ensure they’re strong and flexible.

The future Queen then turned to her youngest and said: ‘Louis, you’re perfecting your handstand at the moment.’

‘A bit,’ he said, with his arms crossed, ‘But Charlotte says I’m not very good.’

I believe the twins are seen in this photo with the Princess.

The Roper twins then asked if Charlotte can do one, and she said ‘yeah’.

When they asked George the same question, he and Catherine laughed as the young prince told them: ‘I’m rubbish at anything that involves flexibility.’

Charlotte then told them that her favourite part of gymnastics is the floor, with her mum adding: ‘Charlotte likes her dancing.’

Overhearing the conversation, William said: ‘She loves gymnastics and ballet.’

Having already learned that the young princess enjoys the sport, the Welsh gymnasts presented her with a Team Wales leotard that has been signed by the athletes.

Now for our look at what Kate wore.

She wore a new blazer that very much looks like the Ralph Lauren Collection Camden Cashmere Jacket in Dark Racing Green (past-season color, shown here in navy). The tailored double-breasted design is 100% cashmere, with a slim fit, peaked lapels, shoulder pads, darts at the waist, flap pockets, and a welted breast pocket. 

Here is a closer look at some of the jacket details, with thanks to Kate Middleton Styled for her speedy jacket ID.

The Princess’s top appears to be La Ligne, another US-based label. The Striped Featherweight Sweater Vest (now sold out) is a sleeveless style in a blend of 80% cashmere and 20% spandex, with Breton-style stripes and ribbing at the neck, waist, and armholes. Thanks for this ID to Middleton Maven.

The Princess wore a skirt that I initially thought was the Christopher Kane style seen at Wimbledon in 2023, but the waistbands look different in width. So at this point, I would consider it a UFO.

The Princess arrived to watch the netball semi-finals wearing an ensemble which might provide inspiration for anyone looking to master a smart-casual look this summer. The hero piece of the outfit was a new double-breasted blazer, the Camden cashmere design from Ralph Lauren Collection. According to the brand’s website, the jacket “debuted as a men’s sporting style in 19th-century Britain” and “is one of Ralph Lauren’s enduring silhouettes”. Notably, Ralph Lauren is the official outfitter of the Wimbledon Championships, where the Princess is royal patron.

Another key element of the Princess’s outfit was a striped top, a design that she has become synonymous with ever since joining the Royal family. Catherine, who is known as the Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, has worn Breton tops for polo matches and relaxed family engagements as well as in difficult moments, such as the video she released telling the world she had cancer in 2023. The design also reflects the sporty Hamptons aesthetic of Ralph Lauren.

She repeated her Anya Hindmarch Neeson Small Square Tote in ‘chalk’ leather.

And her Camilla Elphick ‘Lucia’ Tan Slingback Pumps.
The Princess brought back her Daniella Draper Gold Trio Star Necklace ($1050), a design first noted when worn during an episode of “The Good, The Bad, and The Rugby” podcast airing in the run-up to the 2023 Rugby World Cup. The necklace is crafted of recycled silver and yellow gold, measuring 17″ in length.

She repeated a Halcyon Days May Torque Bangle Bracelet, possibly the diamond colorway, and also wore her Kiki McDonough hoops with her Annoushka Pearl Drops.

Kate Middleton Styled suggests Princess Charlotte wore the Guess Big Girl Chiffon Short Sleeve Dress, and I think she is correct. Both boys were in Ralph Lauren shirts; Prince Louis looked like he could have been wearing this linen style, and Prince George may have been in this shirt.

Matt Porteous took the image after Trooping the Colour last month. Here is the message accompanying the photo of the young Prince. 

It’s tough to believe this next image is from thirteen years ago, when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge introduced their baby boy to the world on the steps of the Lindo Wing.

That feels even more striking when seeing the brief video Kensington Palace also posted of the Prince to commemorate today’s occasion.

This piece in The Mirror has more on the video. 

The clip, posted this afternoon to mark George’s milestone birthday shows him on a family holiday to Cornwall earlier this year in a pair of sunglasses waving to the camera and flashing a cheeky grin. The 18-second video montage also shows the prince, playing cricket on the sand, patting one of the family dogs, enjoying a boat ride and clambering over rocks barefoot with his younger brother Prince Louis.

I believe this was shot during the family’s Easter holiday. 

In this montage, you see last year’s birthday photo alongside this year’s picture. 

We have seen quite a bit of Prince George in the last year as he joined his parents for official engagements. In November, he attended the Festival of Remembrance. 

This was the first time he attended the annual event. 

Just a couple of weeks later, he joined the family for the Together at Christmas Carol Concert at Westminster Abbey. 

Not long after the concert taping, he took part in the walk to and from the Christmas Day church service. 

Here you see him with Prince Louis as they hold gifts from well-wishers.

Also during the holiday season, Prince George followed in his father’s footsteps by visiting The Passage charity, just as Prince William did back in 1993.

We saw the Prince in April when he joined his brother, sister, and parents for the Easter Matins service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.

June also brought a joint engagement with his mother. 

That is when the duo visited RAF Coningsby, a Royal Air Force base about three hours north of Windsor. The Princess is the Honorary Air Commodore of the base, a position she has held since 2023. 

We also saw the Prince when the entire family welcomed the Princess of Wales at the successful conclusion of her Three Peaks Challenge.

It was just ten days ago when Prince George and Princess Charlotte attended Wimbledon with their parents. 

They watched the Gentlemen’s Final match between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.

And Prince George had some fun with his sister as he adjusted his hat in the summer heat.

The young Prince has a big change coming as he enters Eton College in September. Below, students at the illustrious school in 2022, wearing their black tailcoats and waistcoats.

The prestigious all-boys boarding school, which costs $85,000 per year, counts Prince William, Prince Harry and many other notable British men (including numerous prime ministers) as alumni.

While many options were explored for Prince George’s next school, a source close to the family told PEOPLE soon after Kensington Palace confirmed the Eton College decision, “George has always wanted to follow in his dad’s footsteps.”

We learn more about expectations for the Prince’s new life at Eton from this story by Victoria Ward in The Telegraph. 

On Sept 8, he will join the ranks of some 260 new boys in “F-Block” – otherwise known as Year 9 – at Eton College.

It will be a different life for the Prince, who will live away from home for the first time, even if it is just a 10-minute drive from the family home in Windsor.

Like the other boys, he will have his own private room and will probably be given a “brick phone” to stay in touch with his family.

The family was there to watch the Gentlemen’s Singles Final, with the world number one, Jannik Sinner of Italy, taking on Germany’s Alexander Zverev.  But before the match got underway, they spent time meeting those who make things happen at the Championships.

Sports fan Leo was born with sacral agenesis, a rare condition that affects the lower spine and legs. He started playing wheelchair tennis two years ago and is part of the LTA Under-14 National Age Group Programme (NAGP) which supports the development of promising junior wheelchair tennis players.

Prince William and Princess Kate were greeted by a standing and clapping crowd as they entered the royal box at the men’s singles final of the tennis championships in London on Sunday, July 12. Will and Kate smiled and waved as they arrived with two of their three children: Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 11.

And it was time for the match between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.

For background on today’s match, we turn to this piece in the New York Times. 

There is little doubt as to whether Alexander Zverev enters the Wimbledon men’s final as the underdog. Zverev, 29, has not taken a set off Sinner in the last seven. The last time they played, at the Madrid Open final in May, it took Sinner less than an hour to shoo Zverev off the court in a 6-1, 6-2 rout that wasn’t even that close.

But as they prepare for their 15th career meeting Sunday on Wimbledon’s Centre Court, Zverev and Sinner’s rivalry has changed in one drastic way: they are both Grand Slam champions now.

Once again, it was warm at Centre Court, with a temperature around 85°. 

Prince George shared his portable fan with his father. 

The young Prince had his sister in stitches as he adjusted his hat. 

In this shot, you’ll see how many spectators are wearing the complimentary Panama hats with the signature green-and-purple ribbon, offered to those in the Royal Box when it is extremely warm, as it was today.

Below, you can see the ribbon in the Club colors on Princess Charlotte’s hat more clearly.The match lasted three hours and forty-six minutes, with Jannik Sinner winning another Wimbledon title.

The Italian repelled the three-hour, 46-minute all-out attack from Alexander Zverev to win 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4. This was Zverev at his strongest, his most aggressive and his most confident – this was a Zverev that Sinner had not faced before. Certainly not in a Grand Slam final. And still the champion held firm.

But on the other side of the net, Sinner was also back in the groove. Any hint of danger and he thumped his serve and batted the threat away. He was returning with increasing precision and he was defending as if his life depended upon it and then turning that defence into attack.

When he made the breakthrough for a 4-3 lead, he was heading for his 100th Grand Slam match win, a win that would ensure the Wimbledon title was his for another year.

And it was time for the trophy presentation. Below, the Princess greeting ball boys and girls on Centre Court.

Addressing the Centre Court crowd after his win, Sinner said there is “no better place to play tennis” than Wimbledon, spoke of the warm weather and paid tribute to the ball boys and ball girls.

He said: “There has been a couple of very, very warm days, no rain for the first time, which is amazing, but I would love to thank all the ball kids and ball boys for everything you do. You make our life on court as simple as possible, so thank you. Thanks (to the) whole organisation behind the scenes, this is truly the most special tournament we have throughout the year.”

Gesturing towards the royal box, Sinner said: “I never take these things for granted, playing in front of very, very special people throughout the whole couple of weeks – it has been amazing. And thanks for the support. You are always amazing to me, and you gave me the most special feeling a tennis player can ever feel like, so thank you so much.”

The Cup, which is made of silver gilt, stands 18 inches high and has a diameter of 7.5 inches. The inscription on the Cup reads: “The All England Lawn Tennis Club Single Handed Championship of the World”.

Around the bowl are engraved the dates and names of the champions.

In 2009, there being no space left to engrave the names of the champions, a black plinth with an ornamented silver band was designed to accompany the Cup.

Champions receive a three-quarter size replica of the Cup bearing the names of all past champions (height 13.5 inches).

Speaking after the match, Kate told Sinner it was “really inspiring” for George and Charlotte to watch tennis played at his level.

The royal congratulated the Italian sportsman on his victory, and said: “You’ve had such a fantastic tournament so really, really well done.”

Sinner asked George if he was still playing tennis, to which the 12-year-old responded: “Yeah, very much so.”

The princess told Sinner: “It’s really inspiring for the children to see tennis at that level.”

Now, for our look at what Kate wore on Day 14 of Wimbledon.

It very much appears to be a custom design by Emilia Wickstead. The fabric looks like the designer’s wool crepe, and today’s style has some elements from the Tidus Draped Wool Crepe Midi Dress, most notably the asymmetric cape-style sleeve that originates at the left side and sweeps up to her right shoulder. The Princess’s dress has a broader neckline and a short sleeve on her left side, and her skirt features princess seaming and a more fit-and-flare design than that seen in the Tidus.

We saw the return of the Nano Montreal Bag ($450) in the Deep Toffee Smooth finish by DeMellier London. The top-handle design measures roughly 7″ x 4.5″ and also features an adjustable, removable crossbody strap.

And her LK Bennett Saffron Straw Hat (no longer available as LK Bennett has closed), first worn at Wimbledon in 2022.   

As well as her Van Cleef and Arpels Magic Alhambra Earrings, 2 motifs in 18K yellow gold and mother-of-pearl.

The Princess brought back one of her Halcyon Days bracelets, either the Maya Gold Torque Bracelet in aquamarine worn yesterday, or the Maya Torque Bangle in the Diamond colorway (clear stones). At this point, I am leaning toward the Diamond color.

Kate Middleton Styled reports Princess Charlotte was wearing Ray-Ban Kids Sunglasses ($86), and Royal British Fashion notes her bracelet is Ted Baker’s Isabella Icon Charm Bracelet ($85), while her dress remains unidentified.
