this problem shows because boot.cfg file are loss ore damage. to repair this error you can follow this step :

1. grub rescue>ls

you must show your partition number, for example (hd0,6)

2. grub rescue>set prefix=(hd0,6)/boot/grub

3. grub rescue>set root=(hd0,6)

4. grub rescue>set

to check your step, must be look same of above.

5. grub rescue>ls /boot

show your boot folder on root partition

6. grub rescue>insmod /boot/grub/linux.mod

7. grub rescue>linux /vmlinuz root=/dev/sda6 ro

8. grub rescue>initrd /initrd.img

9. grub rescue>boot

oke you can boot into your linux, but this step are not permanent. to make this permanent follow this step :

$ sudo update-grub

$ sudo grub-install /dev/sda

$ sudo update-grub

oke you can try now,....

connectig APT trough proxy server, HOW ?

this step can explain you, how to connecting APT trough network with proxy. folow this step :

1. create 'proxy' file

$sudo touch /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/proxy

2. edit 'proxy' file

$sudo touch /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/proxy

3. add this script

Acquire::http::Proxy "http://proxy_ip:proxy_port";

4. save and now you can update or install from APT with proxy,,

I can write my documen on open office writer. presented my job on impress. and calculate the general economic on calc. if you are linux user, lets work on open office.. GO opem source..

Yeseterday i was installed KUBUNTU 9.10 on my younger brother laptop. Why i installed KUBUNTU ? the reason is whe i in gnome desktop the desktop is not colorfull. So i try to install KUBUNTU for looking the diferent. And i was happy, is not dissapointed me, well i'm satisfied in KUBUNNTU...

For me overall on KUBUNTU is very nice, but not on Package manager. Is not a synaptic and very simple.

today iam chat with my friend on kopete. i very happy cause kopete give me a beatifull look with his interface. why i chose kopete ? this is a reason :

1. customable
2. beatifull theme
3. support many protocol
4. easy install
5. stabil

if you agree with my reason, then you want install in your linux. folow this step :
#in ubuntu
run gnome terminal, alt + F2 then type "gnome-terminal"
if the windows have opened, type this instruction

$sudo apt-get install kopete

now you can enjoy chat in your machine with kopete..

How to restore GRUB ver.2 in Ubuntu 9.10, u can follow this step..
1. boot your PC or laptop with Ubuntu Live CD 9.10
2. Mount your partition with Ubuntu installed inside.

3. copy addres of your partition ubuntu installed on nautilus address bar.
4. run this command in terminal
$ sudo grub-setup -d /media/xxxx/boot/grub/ -m /media/xxxx/boot/grub/device.map /dev/sda
5. xxxx is your label of your partition ubuntu installed..
6. restart your PC/Laptop.
7. Enjoy...

Linux How To : Install Canon Pixma IP1880 on Mandriva 2009

The first step you can download official driver from here. There is a 2 rpm file must downloded. cnijfilter-ip1800series-2.70-1.i386.rpm and cnijfilter-common-2.70-1.i386.rpm. Open "konsole" run urpmi. Why we use urpmi, because this command can search dependency automaticaly. SO, u can using urpmi to install 2 pakage and download automaticaly dependency from repository.

This is the illustration :

[mandrivian@localhost ~]$ su

[root@localhost mandrivian]# urpmi cnijfilter-*

Program will find dependency automaticaly, just klik Ok.

If you finished install all package needed, Now u just connecting your IP1880 to computer, and than Mandriva will configured automatically..
