<p>It’s technically still possible this week, <strong>but someone buying TikTok looks unlikely</strong> (but wait, did Elon enter the chat?) <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2025/01/14/heres-how-much-elon-musk-could-buy-tiktok-for-as-china-reportedly-eyes-deal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Learn more about this potential sale here ➜</a></p>
<p><strong>So what is going to happen on 1/19?</strong></p>
<p>Your phone will still have the app, but <strong>it will likely be removed from the US App store</strong>, therefore it will slowly stop working as you will no longer be able to update the app (For reference, TikTok updates the app a few times a month, so it will most likely render itself unusable sooner than later). <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/11/tech/tiktok-ban-what-next/index.html">Learn more here</a> ➜</p>
<p><em>In fact </em>— <strong>you should delete the app entirely.</strong> Since TikTok can no longer be updated, <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/zakdoffman/2025/01/13/tiktok-ban-why-you-should-delete-your-iphone-android-app-next-week/">this introduces a new security threat</a>. Keep it safe, and delete the app – it’s not like you can enjoy it anyways! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f645-200d-2640-fe0f.png" alt="🙅‍♀️" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<h3>Prepare for the ban with these tips:</h3>
<p><strong>No matter the outcome, let your audience know where to find you <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f44b.png" alt="👋" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></strong></p>
<p><strong>We suggest using this week to post on TikTok alerting your fans where to find you</strong> (like Instagram). A quick post can suffice, or a dedicated video with a personal sentiment could create a bigger migration over to Instagram.</p>
<p><em>People are not guaranteed to follow you on Instagram, but users are savvy and we are all in the same boat <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f6f6.png" alt="🛶" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />– put in your best effort to let people know where they can find you!</em></p>
<p><strong>Make sure your Instagram is linked in your bio</strong> + on your Linktree for easy access.</p>
<p><strong>Respond to recent comments from fans telling them that they can expect the same content on your Instagram and to follow you there.</strong> This personal touch is nice and can garner more crossover of followers.<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1faf6.png" alt="🫶" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p><strong>You’re going to want to download this <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2b07.png" alt="⬇" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></strong></p>
<p><strong>Download your audience data from TikTok.</strong> You can do this in your analytics view. So you can keep it for reference!</p>
<p><strong>Download your content and back it up.</strong></p>
<p>You can do this through a few different apps, but we recommend <a href="http://repurpose.io/"><strong>Repurpose.io</strong></a><strong>.</strong> Set up workflows to download your content to your Google Drive and repurpose + post your TikTok videos to a new account like YouTube shorts. For a small fee, it’s a lifesaver.</p>
<p><strong>“But I still have content to post!” It’s okay! We recommend:<br /></strong></p>
<p><strong>If you have a campaign running, influencer partnerships, or content in drafts you want to use – post them! Also, stick to any contractual obligations you have for posting this week.</strong> Just be aware that engagement might be down due to people leaving the app ahead of 1/19.</p>
<p>This is a great time to<strong> begin cross-posting your TikTok content</strong> on other platforms and to start making the switch.</p>
<p class="last-child"><strong>We don’t suggest starting new campaigns, series, partnerships or VIP (very important posts)</strong> on TikTok this week. <h3>Some great things can come from this</h3>
<p><strong>It’s time to get to know your audience. Again <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f44b.png" alt="👋" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></strong></p>
<p><strong>Take this time to throw a lot of different things at the wall and see what sticks and attracts new followers.</strong> This can be in the form of a new platform for your brand (like YouTube shorts), or trying new messaging and styles on Instagram. During times of uncertainty, anything goes!</p>
<p><em>This could look like: </em><strong>posting a mixture of TikTok humor, carousels and different messaging on Instagram and mixing up your content calendar</strong> for a bit to test and learn. Make it fun!</p>
<p><strong>Trial Reels on Instagram is a great way to test and learn:</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://help.instagram.com/1013292530224018"><strong>Trial Reels</strong></a> is a new update that is a way for you to post videos to people who DON’T follow you (yet!).</p>
<p><strong>This is a great way to test messaging and content</strong> without filing your public-facing feed with duplicative content or information that your current followers already know.</p>
<p><em><strong>Our suggestion: </strong></em>Take your tried and true top posts / messaging, and repost as a trial. You can slightly adjust messaging, sound, or clips, and see which are resonating with new people. Throw on a trending song and see how far it can reach with this fresh approach!</p>
<p><strong>Smarter, not harder: It’s okay to repurpose TikTok content!<br /></strong></p>
<p>BUT, let’s do it in the best way possible.<strong> It is best practice (on any platform) to use the native features like text and music. </strong>While you can reuse a video you already have, we suggest editing it in Instagram and adding text, closed captions, music, ect. To appease the algorithm.</p>

<p><strong>Discovering new brands and shopping on social is a habit social users have burned into their brains. </strong>This isn’t going to change anytime soon. In fact, there is just more room for people to buy your products on Instagram now that TikTok shop is going away. This is an exciting time! Just keep your apps updated to make the most of them.</p>

<p><a href="https://theneptuneapp.com/"><strong>Neptune</strong></a><strong> </strong>– This app is allegedly similar to TikTok, but with lots of capability to rewire your explore page, promote community and enjoy art without the ads. The catch? It’s not out yet, but people are trying to propel it to launch sooner.</p>

<p>Recently I was quoted in Wall Street Journal article, &#8220;Your Coworkers Are Less Ambitious; Bosses Adjust to the New Order,&#8221; and interviewed for the TODAY show which has sparked interest, and a little controversy and debate. As a business owner, parent, entrepreneur, and woman who has been in the workforce for over almost two decades, I have a perspective on this issue and I want to share my thoughts on why I find the article&#8217;s title and my quotes needing further clarification, as it pertains to me and my company specifically.</p>
<p>I think it&#8217;s important to recognize that ambition is a complex and multifaceted quality. It can manifest in many different ways and is not necessarily tied to career advancement or salary increases. Some people may be ambitious when it comes to learning new skills, while others may be more focused on making a positive impact in their community or industry. I believe that it&#8217;s unfair to assume that people who are not climbing the corporate ladder or seeking promotions are somehow less ambitious. There are many valid reasons why someone might choose to prioritize other aspects of their life over their career, and it doesn&#8217;t mean that they are any less driven or committed to their work.</p>
<p>In my experience, I have seen many coworkers who are just as ambitious as their more upwardly mobile counterparts, but who have different goals and priorities. They may be content with their current positions and are focused on making meaningful contributions to their team or organization, rather than constantly seeking the next step up.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s also worth considering the fact that the economic and employment landscape has changed significantly in recent years, and not everyone has the same opportunities or resources to pursue their career goals. Some people may be limited by their circumstances or personal commitments, and that doesn&#8217;t make them any less ambitious.</p>
<p>In conclusion, I believe that the Wall Street Journal article oversimplifies and misrepresents the concept of ambition. It&#8217;s important to recognize that ambition takes many forms and that people should not be judged or evaluated based on their career trajectory alone. We should celebrate and support the diverse goals and aspirations of our coworkers, rather than making assumptions about their level of ambition.</p>
<p>One of the things that I am most proud of in my role as a founder at Pulp+Wire is the evolving culture and vacation policies that we have implemented in our team recently. These policies are not a response to any lack of ambition or coverage on the part of my team members, but rather a recognition of their hard work and dedication.</p>
<p>I believe that it&#8217;s important for people to have the opportunity to recharge and take time off to pursue their own interests and passions. By providing flexible and generous vacation policies, I hope to create a culture that values and supports the well-being of my team members.</p>
<p>Our vacation policies are also a way of showing my team that I trust and respect their work ethic. I know that they will continue to give their best effort even when they are not at work, and that they will return rejuvenated and ready to tackle new challenges.</p>
<p>In addition, I believe that our vacation policies are a key part of building a culture that my team can be proud of and that they will want to uphold. By fostering a positive and supportive work environment, I hope to create a place where my team members feel valued and motivated to succeed.</p>
<p>In short, our evolving vacation policies are not a sign of a lack of ambition or demand on the part of my team, but rather a recognition of their hard work and a commitment to supporting their well-being and growth.</p>
