Well hello, hello, hello … it has been a manic week and bit here at Prowlster Towers! Manic, but fruitful. D-Day has come and gone … yes, the Lift Off pitch, that we have been working tirelessly for, has come and gone. And it went brilliantly!

So brilliantly in fact, Prowlster even got a Special Recognition Award on the day! (Marketing Award from the Irish Internet Association … but whatevs … don’t want to brag or anything)

We got some excellent feedback from the audience and things are looking very exciting at the moment.

We want to take this opportunity to say and absolutely COLOSSAL thank you to all our contributors, retailers and supporters. None of this would be possible without you having our backs and we are so grateful for all the good wishes. Seriously guys, you are the wind beneath our wings.

The site will be going quiet from now until approximately the end of January, so no live posting or shopping available until then. We are going into full on brainstorming mode and using all the feedback we’ve gathered to work through the technical issues and make Prowlster 2.0 bigger and better than ever.

Right, this is going to be a whirlwind of an update – only fitting, it’s been a whirlwind few weeks. A whirling-dervish-tornado-coming-at-you-at-the-speed-of-light kinda whirlwind.

We got Prowlster up and running, mainly thanks to the awesome team of contributors who kept it going with all sorts of brilliant, interesting and visual content. Seriously, to all those people who got involved writing, snapping, styling and interviewing – it was a privilege and it was refreshing to see the sheer amount of creative talent in Ireland. Prowlster only showcased a microcosm of that – there’s a serious amount of cool shit going down in Ireland.

We worked with a brilliant selection of retailers who were hugely supportive, understanding and patient – who also showcased the range and depth of Irish fashion.

In betwixt all that, what did the Prowlster team do? We had a BONKERS Black Friday - hopefully yizzers caught some of the action? 20% off everything - lots of frenetic behind the scenes action, but Electronic Sheep, Capulet and Montague Lady Umbrella, Project A, Silver Factory, Emma Manley – in fact loads of stuff flew out. It was brilliant.

We nabbed ourselves a spot at the Christmas Dublin Beta – a start-up networking event – 10 teams set up wares and pitch their concept to over 300 media, start-up and investor types. It all went down in the Lost Society and Team Prowlster managed to get some nifty little t-shirts in time for the event (would they sell do you reckon?) It was 6 hours of intense ranting, pitching, chatting, selling, waffling and bafflement (defending online shopping to a Maths lecturer in Trinity…wrong crowd anyone?)

We’ve ran some excellent competitions. One in conjunction with the super-brilliant Blanaid from Shutterbug who donated a €75 voucher for the Shutterbug Vintage Kilo Sale in Dublin last week. That lady is a star! We also ran a cool Kanken Backpack compeition and asked people to send us in pictures of the content of their bags. The results were brilliant…and barmy. The winner below had a UKULELE! Kudos, kudos.

We got ourselves a ‘lil bitta press. Thanking you Jo Linehan from Image, who set up an amazing shoot for us – SO excited to see the results. Also, Isabella from Trinity Two did a brilliant piece on us in the Christmas edition. It’s that kinda support and backing that helps our cause above and beyond and we are so grateful for that.

In summation, Prowlster was a test website – it was a test concept to prove our business idea – that people want to buy some they see from magazines…and if you put it in the online space, people can buy straight off the page. We ran Prowlster as a pop up magazine and shop for the last 3 weeks. The purpose of this is to stand up tomorrow (TOMORROW PEOPLE) and pitch our idea to a roomful of investors, media and business people…just a small gathering of around 200. We stand up and tell them about our business idea, about Prowlster, about the community, the retailers, the readers – we tell them about the support, about the feedback and how much we’ve achieved in the last 3 weeks. We tell them about our vision for the future – Prowlster as a Global Brand.

And we could not have done this without y’all. So a massive, sincerely heart-felt thank you to all. For reading, submitting, commenting, promoting, sharing…for being patient with our mistakes and for cheer-leading our successes. We’re going to pause the content on Prowlster for a little bit – until the pitch is over and we can re-gather our thoughts, but shopping will still continue.

The Prowlster Story So Far

So, a little update on how the Prowlster team are getting along.

Since coming up with the concept for Prowlster (roughly Sep 25th 2012 fyi) we have hit the ground running (still outta breath actually). We’ve been furiously building, researching, typing, brainstorming, strategising, pitching, work-shopping, and post-it-noting. And we’ve arrived here - a live, beta of Prowlster.

Prowlster is an Online Fashion Magazine with a Buy It Now Button.

The big picture is an international fashion magazine with an option to shop through all the content. We have to start small to test things, so this is very much Prowlster 1.0. We have loads of things we’re working on like -

- social log-ins
- improved navigation
- improved layout
- personal profiles
- recommendations

But, you know, these things take a little time and technical things tend to misbehave. But bear with us! We’re bleedin’ working round the clock on it!

Prowlster Intern Hard At Work

We are absolutely delighted to say we’re working with almost 15 retailers – mainly Irish and one major international retailer – Kanken Backpacks. We have jewellery designers MerleO’Grady, Chupi and Capulet and Montague, streetwear labels Project A, Granpda Woolf, Silver Factory and fashion designers Emma Manley, woolie experts Electronic Sheep, card-makers Doodle Moose and ladies fashion with Carousel and Lady Umbrella. We’re going to be adding more as we go, but make sure you check in with Prowlster first to get your Christmas presents and Christmas cards. Support start-ups and support Irish all in the one go. Just saying likes.

Prowlster Pitching

Since we’ve started we’ve managed to expand the core team of sisters to an even more female team if that’s possible. We’ve got Sara-Jane Doogan doing the web development, Louise Cunnane as Features Editor, Lisa Milmoe as Social Media Consultant and Aoife MaGuire as Project Manager and Lorna McGinn as all-round supremo interno. We’ve also been OVERWHELMED by the interest of the Irish masses in contributing to Prowlster. The goodwill is off the dial. We are honoured and humbled to have the likes of Donal Talbot doing photoshoots, Rory Nugent of Showbiz Geek, Lorna Weightman of Style Isle and Aideen Finnegan of 98fm contributing articles. We have insider diaries from photographer Conor Clinch, model Niamh O’Sullivan, features on Irish fashion illustrators, Irish fashion designers, street-style, creative nights - the contributors have managed to conjure up the most inspirational and interesting content Ireland has to offer. We gonna have the most awesome contributor party as soon as we can.

WHAT WILL I WEAR TODAY IS TEMPORARILY ON HOLD.

The team at What Will I Wear Today are running a pop-up magazine and shopping experience called Prowlster for the next few weeks.

What Will I Wear Today will be temporarily on hold, but come follow us on Prowlster, where we’ll have all types of brilliant content for you.

Prowlster is a new fashion magazine that you can shop! Prowlster lets you browse through content – funny, interesting, inspiring content – and lets you shop products that take your fancy directly off the page.

Prowlster is in beta phase, which means we’re just testing how things work for the next couple of weeks. We’ve assembled a team of awesome writers, stylists, photographers and models from all over the country to provide cutting-edge content for you to peruse.

The focus of the magazine for the next few weeks is Irish fashion, design and creativity. We’re profiling and platforming all sorts of fantastic Irish creatives; if we have all the talent, why not show it off? There will be Interviews, Walk in Wardrobes, Diaries, Style Guides, Trend Reports, Fashionable Events, Reviews and Previews…on everyone from designers, musicians and illustrators to tattoo artists and skaters. This is a unisex magazine – boys and girls will be catered for. We’ll be doing lots of Christmas Gift Ideas, so make sure to check in here first for inspiration.

Prowlster is an evolution of What Will I Wear Today; a fashion blog set up by the Mc Ginn sisters and their friends. The sisters decided to take things to the next levels and Prowlster is tapping into the emerging space of social shopping. It’s part of the NDRC Launchpad Programme. This means, Prowlster is very much in it’s infancy…so subject to a few minor tweaks along the way…but Prowlster is thinking big and wants to take it’s show on the international road as quickly as possible.

We’re working really, really hard on this – but for the moment, it’s just a team of three (and two unbelievably brilliant interns, Louise Cunnane and Lisa Milmoe and a fantastic developer – Sarah-Jane Doogan) trying to make this a reality. To really make this work, we need you guys to get involved – get reading, get commenting, get sharing and get shopping!

Another event, another hoard of outrageous celebs, wearing oh so unforgiving designs.

Ahh the good old MTV EMA’s were held last night in Frankfurt, Germany, and the ridiculousness was out in force. Fashion faux pas I hear you say? We here at WWIWT have put together some of the most unusual outfits of the night.

Heidi Klum was the host for the night, she changed a whopping SIX times throughout the night. She started out in what was probably the worst outfit… is that saying something?

Bag Yourself a Vintage Bargain at the Dun Laoire Vintage Fashion Decor Fair

A few years ago my buddy managed to bag herself a Chanel 5.22 for just a few hundred euro at a vintage fair. I was raaaagin’! For me, not for her obviously. But ever since, my ears have always pricked up at the mention of a vintage fair, despite not being massively into that type of wear. (I prefer Zara and Topshop, me.)

Anyway, to cut a long story short I am going to MAKE SURE I’m in Dun Laoghaire this Sunday for the Vintage Fashion and Décor Fair. Apparently over 50 specialist traders will be dealing in fancy frocks from throughout the decades. From Downton Abbey-esque gowns, to Mad Men type frocks all the way to power dressing 80s shoulder pads. I. AM. THERE.

Doors are open from 11.30 to 6pm on Sunday at the Royal Marine Hotel. It’s six euro in OR you could win a pair of tickets and a goody bag right here!

The crazies were out in force at the MOBO’s this weekend.

Oh Rita, What have you done?

Is it me, or does it look like what she was wearing could have been an acceptable (I used that word lightly) puffy dress. But then what happened was, on her way out the door, she fell into her mams flower bed. Which I think would have been ok, but then her dad was mowing the lawn and mowed off half the dress. No? Just me that thinks that? The annoying thing is, I think Alexander McQueen is the shnizzle. Not this creation though. Booo.

This lady was another shocker at the MOBO awards…

Why, why, why, Delilah?

Now this may come as a shock, but I haven’t a clue who this girl is. Google says she is a singer called Delilah, so I have to go with that. Delilah needs to go home and Google how to dress for the red carpet, and maybe everyday life cause this is shocking!

No words. Just no words. For this meshy, clingy, sore looking disaster. I’m uncomfortable just looking at the girl.
