HELLO EVERYONE!!

I am so excited to be here today to guest post for Dianna!! Love her blog and this Terrific Tuesdays is such a great series!!

My name is Michelle and I blog over at Delicate Construction!! I am a wife to a fantastic hubby and we have been married for three years but together for almost nine! We have a beautiful two year old daughter Avery and I are also full time caregivers to a young gentleman with Autism who lives with us named Scotty! Needless to say I am pretty busy but I love adding handmade touches to anything I can and sharing them with my readers!

Each Monday I host a Made by Little Hands linky party for fellow bloggers to share what they have been doing with their children each week and I love getting to see all of the great ideas! I also share something I have done with my daughter as well!

I am lucky to be an 18 month old teacher at my daughter's preschool, which happens to be the class that she is in! So I am never at a loss for something to share!

This last Sunday was our schools huge art show and silent auction and being the creative mama I am I was very excited to share all the things my class had been working on! Also, it never fails that I get some of my best ideas at the last minute and that is when I came up with these fun ribbon baskets I am going to share with you today!!

Here is what you need:

A whole lot of glue
Ribbon scraps
Plastic disposable cup (I got the ones I used at the dollar store, 12 in a pack)
Plastic wrap
Newspaper or other material to cover your work surface.

First I covered the plastic cup in plastic wrap, this will all make it easier once everything is dried to take it all apart.

Then I set up the work surface by covering it, cutting all my scraps, filling a cup with glue and providing the cup that I covered in plastic wrap upside down.

I showed the kids with the first piece to dip it in the glue completely and then put it on the cup, after that I just let them take it away! All I did was rub down the piece as they added it to the cup to make sure it was smooth and covered with glue, my students are toddlers so this is necessary because they are just dipping and putting on the cup. It is mostly a sensory experience for them. I was also turning the cup for them as we went so they got all of the sides.

Then once the cup is covered, you run out of scraps or the kid loses interest (whatever happens first), place them on an extra piece of plastic wrap to dry. I found that after an hour or two there was a lot of glue at the bottom so I would put them on a fresh piece of plastic wrap to dry overnight.

After they are dry or mostly dry, I open up the plastic wrap and slide the plastic cup out from inside the plastic wrap. It is helpful to try and bend and fold the cup to get it out, this is why you want that instead of a rigid cup with little flexibility.

Once the cup is out it is easy to peel the plastic wrap off the inside of your ribbon basket.

Then let them dry a bit more if needed and you are done! I was talking with the parents about these and I thought they would be so cute if you made a bunch of them and hung them on twinkle lights in the backyard. Maybe you could do the same thing on the back of a mini muffin tin and plastic wrap the whole thing so you make a bunch at a time and then pop them off. Cut a hole in the top and stick the little lights from the Christmas lights in the middle and hang. That would look amazing, especially with an transparent or sparkly ribbon!

Really I could go on, cupcake liners (after they are baked of course), hung on a mobile, holding hair ties in the bathroom... you get the point!

Project Organize My Life

Lately I have been feeling overwhelmed by the lack of organization in my life. When my house and stuff feel cluttered or things aren't nicely organized I feel like it seeps into every aspect of my life and I can't think clearly. Am I alone in this? Or did that make me sound a little OCD?

I want to organize my entire life. I want a plan and system for everything so that I can actually live my life. That might sound a little strange but when things are unorganized my whole life feels like a wreck. yeah, I know I can't be 100% organized all the time but it's worth a try.

Here is a list of the things I am going to do for Project Organize My Life

- Organize all of my pictures chronologically
- Get my scrapbooks up to date
- Update "in case I die" file, this includes my will, power of attorney, and all the information Travis would need if I were to die unexpectedly
- Meal plans
- Have date nights planned
- Have an emergency plan
- Budget
- Set up a weekly, monthly, yearly cleaning schedule
- Organize my tax stuff
- De-junk, sell, donate or throw away all the stuff I don't use around my house
- Start a "craft idea" book
- Set up a chore plan for Brody
- Organize Brody's toys
- De-clutter my computer files
- Cleanup Brody's important documents book
- Clean out my closet
- Update my address book
- Organize my email addresses
- Make a calendar for birthdays and important dates

I think that's a pretty good list for me to get started on, don't you think?

DIY: COOL WHIP Ice Pops

Brody is always wanting to help me out in the kitchen, especially when I am making treats. We have a little bit of a sweet tooth around our house so we are constantly making treats. I like to involve Brody as much as possible so I try to pick simple recipes, he is only three after all.

It has been hot this week so Brody and I decided to make popsicles using COOL WHIP Whipped Topping and gelatin. They are really easy to make and taste really good! We may have had a few spoonfuls of COOL WHIP while we made the ice pops Yum!

Ready for me to show you how to make these little treats?

You will need:
2 Packages of flavored gelatin
1 Cup of sugar, divided
2 Cups of boiling water, divided
2 Cups of cold water, divided
Ice cubes
1 tub of COOL WHIP

Combine 1 package of flavored gelatin and 1/2 cup of sugar in a medium bowl. Add 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until gelatin is completely dissolved. Add enough ice cubes to 1 cup of cold water to measure 2 cups and mix into gelatin. Stir until ice cubes melt. Pour evenly into 16 small paper cups. Freeze for 1 hour.

Combine the 2nd packages of flavored gelatin and 1/2 cup of sugar in a medium bowl. Add remaining cup of boiling water. Stir until gelatin is completely dissolved. Add enough ice cubes to the remaining cup of cold water to measure 2 cups and mix into gelatin. Stir until ice cubes melt.

Spoon a few tablespoons of COOL WHIP over the first layer of frozen gelatin. Top with the 2nd gelatin mixture and freeze for about an hour. Insert wooden popsicle sticks into the middle of each cup. Continue to freeze for 4 hours. Remove from the cups and serve.

Tip: I put the COOL WHIP in a pastry bag and piped it in. It was really fast and clean. It was much easier than spooning it in.
There was a little left in the pastry bag after filling the cups and Brody wanted me to squirt it in his mouth- that's my boy.

The COOL WHIP not only makes these ice pops tasty but it also helps separate the gelatin colors and flavors. The red and green remind me of watermelons but I think it would be fun to do red, white and blue ones for Independence Day. I also think a rainbow of colors would be cute.
Since this recipe makes 16 our little family can have one almost every day for a week.

As the weather heats up try making these little frozen treats with your kids, they will love them!

Today was Brody's first time singing with the primary in sacrament meeting. It was fun watching him, even if he was too nervous to sing. As we ate lunch he sang me the Mother's Day songs. I loved it!

A New Way to Brush Teeth

I have a new way to brush my teeth, really I just let my new Emmi-dent Tooth Brush do all the work. Emmi-dent uses Ultrasound technology to clean and whiten teeth, did you even know that was possible? The specialty formulated toothpaste and Emmi-dent toothbrush conduct ultrasound waves to reach the smallest of areas making your teeth super clean. Seriously, my teeth have never felt so clean!

All I have to do is spread on the toothpaste, turn on the tooth brush and hold on my teeth. The Ultrasound technology causes the toothpaste to bubble and clean. It reaches areas where a regular tooth brush can't reach. You DON"T actually scrub your teeth which is good news for those with sensitive teeth or gums. I love it! Brody loves it too. He is always asking to use my new tooth brush.

DIY Tooth Pick Flags

Supplies:
Glue Dots®
Wood tooth picks
colored paper strips 2.5" x 1"

Step 1. Cut a notch at one end of each paper strip

Step 2. Place a Glue Dot® on the back side of the paper as shown below

Step 3. Place the end of a tooth pick on the Glue Dot®

Step 4. Fold about 1/4 of the paper over the Glue Dot® and tooth pick.

How to Guest Post on a Blog

Guest posting a great way to grow your blog and create new connections. It can be beneficial to both the blogger and the guest blogger.
Here is how to write and submit a guest post.

1. Writing a guest post
Start writing your post as usual. Make sure it looks exactly the way you want it to be published. If you are submitting a tutorial or recipe you will want to make sure the best picture/ finished project is at the very top of the post.
Also, make sure to include a little intro about yourself, your blog and where readers can find you. This is your chance for new readers to find you so make sure to dazzle them.

Once your post is completed you will need to get the HTML code.
All you have to do is click "HTML" and Blogger will automatically convert your post to HTML code for you.

Next highlight everything you see and copy it.

2. Submitting a guest post
Email the HTML code that you copied and all of the pictures to the blogger. Yes you already included the pictures in the post you wrote, but it is good for the blogger to have them as well. I have had guest posts where I just used the HTML code and didn't host the pictures myself and something happened to the pictures and I couldn't get them back.

3. Promoting the post
The day your guest post goes live it's nice to do a little teaser post on your own blog. It can be as simple as "I am guest posting at this blog today, stop by and say hi". Don't post the whole post on your blog (if you want to re post it wait a few weeks).

4. Check the comments
Make sure to check the comment section for questions readers may have for you.

Terrific Tuesdays: Busy Bags

Hi there Whatever DeeDee Wants readers!

My name is Kara and I blog over at Mine for the Making about crafts, recipes, printables, frugal decor, mommy adventures, teaching ideas, and all things DIY. I am so excited to be here today for Terrific Tuesdays!

Today I am going to share the Busy Bags I made for my daughter last year.

I originally saw this idea through Pinterest. (surprised? no? yeah I didn't think so...)

As soon as I saw them, I knew I just had to make some for my 3 year old.

Everything I used for these bags I already had or purchased at the dollar store, dollar spot at Target, or got on clearance at Target.

Let me break it down for you...

You have an active little one who has the attention span of a... little one. Organize easy activities that your child can do on their own or with minimal help. The activities need to be things that your child enjoys, but the bags/activities do NOT need to cost you a fortune. Switch the activities out often and let your child have choice in which activity they would like to do. I was going to label my busy bags, but decided against it since I will be switching out the activities as Luci tires of them.

BUSY BAGS

Pencil pouches on clearance at Target {$0.74 each}

Alphabet Match Up

I got this idea from delicateConstruction here. I arranged the ABC magnets on a white piece of paper, took a picture of it, and printed it off on cardstock. The alphabet 'mat' doesn't fit in the pencil pouch, but I am okay with that (I don't want it folded.)

ABC magnets bought at Dollar Tree, but I had them on hand.

Coloring

The small coloring book, crayon pack, and stickers were purchase in the dollar spot at Target; they are called "Play Packs." I bought 6 of them a while back to take to restaurants or appointments.

Finger Puppets

These were also purchased in Target's dollar spot. I have a few sets of finger puppets and small plastic princesses that I can swap in this bag.

Sewing/Lacing

This came as a pack of 6. I only included 3 so that I can switch them out. I bought this about a year ago in the dollar spot at Target (but for $2.50...totally worth it...they are great quality).

Colorful Shape Match Up

I did the same method here as I did with the alphabet mat. I found the foam shapes at Target's dollar spot.

Writing

The notebook was on clearance at Target for $0.30 and the pencils (came in a pack of 8...only included 4) were found in the dollar spot. I also put mini gel pens in this pouch (not pictured) that I found in the dollar spot and had on hand.

Beading/Patterning

I bought these wooden beads with laces at Dollar Tree about a year ago.

I love using the pencil pouches because they were cheap, cute, easy to store, and easy to grab on your way out the door.

Are you wondering where I store them when they are not in use?

This is hanging in the playroom closet. I got this canvas shoe storage thingy from Target on clearance for $0.30. Yeah. Not sure why I didn't buy more of them...

Now that my daughter is 4 years old, I'm finding other activities I can put into the Busy Bags that are appropriate for her developmental/educational stage. That's one of the greatest things about these bags... you can adapt them and change them as needed...depending on your child!

Three and a Half

Yesterday Brody turned three and a half years old! My little boy is growing up so fast.
He will be going off to preschool before I know it, so I am trying my best to enjoy all time we spend together.
Here is a list of some things I want to remember about Brody at this age.

- Most days you can find Brody wearing basketball shorts. He loves them!
- He is obsessed with cars. Playing with them, driving them, playing driving games on the iphone, drawing them, watching them, etc.
- He loves spelling his name for people.
- Brody is really defiant and tries to test me all the time.
- We are constantly watching Curious George.
- Brody would play outside all day every day if I let him.
- He loves feeding the ducks every week with Grandma Beth.
- Batteries intrigue him. He is constantly asking to see my battery on my phone or computer. He loves that they can recharge.
- He is only napping about 2 times a week now.
- In our family prayers he always has to slip in the word "comfy" he thinks it is so funny.
- Yellow is his favorite color.
- He loves going to primary.
- If we ever see a B on a sign he has to yell "B for Brody"
- Brody loves going to Target.
- He is a total mama's boy

I have been meaning to share this recipe on here for awhile, it is seriously the best thing since sliced bread! I got this recipe from my sister (who got it from Andrea) and my life hasn't been the same since. It is so good I have been known to eat it as a meal rather than an appetizer.

Enchilada Dip

1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast

1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened

3/4 cups mayonnaise

1 1/2 cups sour cream

1 8 oz package shredded cheddar cheese

1 can of RO*TEL

Adobe to taste (or salt and pepper)

Step 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees . Cook chicken and shred.

I like to use rotisserie chicken, it adds such a good flavor.

Step 2. In a medium bowl, mix together cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise with a hand mixer until smooth. This is an important step, if you don't mix together it will chunk up when you cook the dip.

Step 3. Mix the remaining ingredients by hand and transfer to a baking dish.

Step 4. Bake uncovered in oven for 35 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Serve with tortilla chips.

If you double the recipe cook in a 9 x 13 pan.

Now go make this, it is seriously so delicious!

Terrific Tuesdays- Painting with Cool Whip

Hi there, I am Keersten from Leap Into Art (a sadly neglected blog lately. I guess it takes awesome Dianna to get me blogging again. :D) There are lots of fun art activities in my archives though. So head over for some easy summer entertainment. I am mommy to 3 art-loving girls and have been teaching art for kids for nine years. I have done this activity with kids of all ages several times and it is always a crowd pleaser. Sometimes it is the simplest things make for the most fun. When you add sugar, it is almost guaranteed that you'll have a good time. That is basically what this activity is all about. I highly recommend it for toddlers up through elementary ages (and maybe even beyond.)

Pick up a container or two of cool whip and a few small packages of Jell-o. (I offered 6 flavors and it was probably a little too much. I'd do 3 or 4 again, and not worry about making so much next time.) Separate the cool whip into bowls and stir in about 2 Tbs. of the dry Jell-o. Stir well to dissolve the Jell-o a bit; add more to intensify the color if needed.

Now get to work. Let those little kiddos finger paint...and um-eat-to their heart's content.

Don't forget to sit down with your little one and paint too. Kids love to work along side you. They also learn a lot from watching you model how to do it. When your painting dries, you will have a puffy, sweet-smelling piece of art to hang on the refrigerator. Just don't be tempted to lick it when that 3:00 in the afternoon low hits!

Mother's Day Badge

Ready to make an easy mother's Day badge with crepe paper?
It only takes about 2 minutes and your kids will have fun making them.

Supplies:
One 42" piece of crepe paper
One 5" piece of crepe paper cut as shown below
One paper circle
Glue Dots®
Marker or pen

Step 1. Start at the end of the 42" crepe paper strip and begin folding small pleats. They should be slightly angled so they fan out as shown below. Make sure to hold the folds tight so they don't come undone. This will form into a circle.

Step 2. While still pinching the pleats in place use your free hand to place a few Glue Dots® (or 1 Large Glue Dot®) in the center of the crepe paper circle.

Step 3. Firmly press your paper circle on the Glue Dots®.

Step 4. Using Glue Dots® attach the 5" crepe paper strip to the back of the badge and attach.

Step 5. Personalize the badge with a marker or pen.
