Janelle Monae is killing it in her new video “Tightrope” featuring Big Boi from Outkast.

It’s a new single from her upcoming Album “The ArchAndroid” which is due out some time in May or whenever this year. You know these labels have a habit of pushing everything back or up nowadays.

The treatment for the video is pretty nice, especially the fact that it’s all anti-establishment and all.

Imagine they’re trying to stop folks from dancing. Watch for yourself!

Always entertaining, interesting and of course funny to hear “Touch Yo’ Self” a million times between the four hours the show is on.

In it’s first week out, Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married Too?” opened up at the box office in second behind Clash of The Titans.

Unlike Clash of The Titans, WDIGMT ( easier to write) , didn’t cost $125 Million to make, so Mr. Perry’s little film is already profitable, which is part of his winning formula.

Now depending on who you listen to, the movie was either fabulous or yeh, not so fabulous. Actually here’s some reviews from fans of the movie on twitter.

Prophecy Events and Atlanta’s elite urban night life promoters came together for another edition of First Friday called Spring Fling. The video below shows it was crazy.

It was held at the W on 14th Street and it was as they say “like a movie!” ( I think I hate that phrase now.)

“Man AG? I remember when he use to be a parking lot attendant.”

“Oh AG? He’s my sister’s, cousin, long lost adopted grandson.”

“Yeh, me and AG, go way back… I’m the one that gave him his name AG. You know it doesn’t mean Alex Gidewon right?”

It seems everyone and their mama has an AG story and the more you move around Atlanta is the more of these stories you hear.

From when he got his humble beginnings, to the people he runs with, why his clubs will and won’t open, why he’s a tyrant and a great guy at the same time. The stories are told with such flare and such belief that you can’t help but get caught up in the whole plot of it all.

It seems the story tellers can’t get enough of telling their AG bit either, it’s almost like they light up at the fact that they can share the time when AG told them $100 to get into his latest, biggest club.

Come to think of it, it’s like AG is now Atlanta’s Urban Legend.

From promoters, to patrons, the average person on the street, to Tyrone the crackhead. Everyone has an AG story. Sometimes I feel the whole city either works for AG or is related to AG. Like damn! You could be at a daycare and a two year old blurts out “AG? Oh that’s my n*gga!”

His mystique doesn’t help either, since you rarely hear from him, no interviews, no long talking, his brother Michael is the one that’s the voice of the entertainment company. Oh and he walks around some big ass dudes that are willing to shoot flies in half if they get too close to the man, the myth, the legend. It’s as if AG The name has become legendary and his reputation far precedes him.

Just the other day I was laughing listening to a commercial, it said something like “AG The Promoter You Wish You Could Be!” or something to that effect. That’s some balls. I guess when you own or are affiliated to everything entertainment related in the city of Atlanta you can make such bold claims.

Whether you believe them or not, there’s a lot to be said for everyone wanting to say your name ( no homo ), in their everyday conversations. And whether you believe them or not, it’s always entertaining. Everyone appears to know when he’s opening his next club, what his next move is, who he owes money and what he had for dinner, and what that dinner smelled like coming out the other side. “Yeh man, me and AG were taking a dump the other day…. blah blah blah.” Whether you believe them or not, AG is on everyone’s lips.

It will be interesting in the upcoming years to see where this urban legend will take us, but I’m sure over time it will get bigger and more unbelievable.

It’s sad to say though that in this whole time I’ve been in the A, I really don’t have an AG story to tell. But I’m sure that day will come when I too can chime in with a “Man AG? He’s like my brother! Just the other day he told me to come by Velvet Room and pay $5000 for VIP. He hooked me up!”
