This line really hit me and got me thinking. When ever I think of graduation, I think of leaving high school, saying goodbye to your friends that you may have been with everyday for 10 months out of every 12 months for 12 years! To many people, this sounds like, and is a very sad moment in life. The graduates are running around getting everybody to sign their yearbooks, telling them "we have to hang out this summer" and saying "good luck in college/university or wherever you're going.

But I think we should be saying, congratulations! Congrats on finishing high school and congrats on a new chapter of your life that is starting! That's right, a NEW chapter of your life is STARTING. Graduation is a celebration of you're accomplishments, but it is also a celebration of a new chapter in your life that is about to start! A sort of "Good Luck, cause you're going to need it!" And in another 4 or so years, it will happen all again when you graduate from university and say goodbye to the Friends you have made their. Hopefully, this time, you will celebrate that you have completed the next chapter in your life, turned the page, and started a new one!

"Move on. It's just a chapter in the past. But don't close the book, just turn the page!" ~Unknown Author

Why Don't We Deserve to Know; McDonalds?

I was watching a special on CNBC and it was all about McDonald's and how it is changing. It started by talking about its beginnings and how McDonald's has changed. It then went into the toughest times at McDonald's, when it had one quarterly loss in how many years? Sorry, no sympathy from me!!! Then then went into what everyone thinks about McDonald's, about how bad their food is for you. the host/reporter sat down with the CEO of McDonald's and went through a typically meal; A Big Mac, a Large Fry and a Coke. Over 1 400 calories and 54 grams of fat was in that meal. The CEO than blamed the people for having to make healthy decisions. I do agree with him partially, we do need to make healthy decisions but it is not all the peoples fault!

McDonald's has to take responsibility in that, their food, plain and simply, Isn't' Healthy! There is a ridiculous amount of salt, fat, sugar and carbohydrates in their food. Then then they argue that they have healthy options on their menu, a salad or chicken snack wraps. For kids they have apples. Yes they do, but when you see McDonald's commercials, do they advertise these? NO! They advertise for the Big Mac, the Quarter Pounder and the salt covered fries!

So why do we keep eating there? One reason that I think people still eat at the world's largest fast food chain is because, most people don't realize what they are putting into their bodies. The employee doesn't say, "You understand that this burger contains over 1000mg of sodium, 30g of sugar and over 500 calories? Do agree with these terms and conditions?" NO, they say "Would you like fries with that?" McDonald's does have this information on their restaurants though it is not easily seen. It may be on the bottom of the container that your burger came because we all immediately look at the bottom of the container before we eat what is in it. Another spot is on the wrapper of your chicken snack wrap. Ask an employee for a nutrition guide and see if they know where they are or if they have to ask someone else.

Lastly, the government in New York is trying to pass legislation that would require fast food chains to post the calorie amount on the signs were you order the food. McDonald's and others are fighting this regulation viciously but why. If you are not ashamed of what you are selling, you shouldn't mind putting the calorie count up for display. McDonald's, if you are going to sell us crap in a burger, at least tell us what were eating, truthfully!

"Nobody speaks the truth when there is something they must have" ~ Elizabeth Bowen

The Queen of Canada?

The Queen of England came to Canada today. She got out the Canadian Forces aircraft in the pouring rain at Halifax International Airport. She walked down the stairs with her umbrella clutched to her hat and her husband right behind her. I wonder, why is the queen always coming to Canada? Does she even do anything? The short answer is; no, not really. She comes maybe once every 2 or 3 years to visit dignitaries and meet the people of Canada, but she does not really add anything to our nation.

The Queen will celebrate Canada Day in Ottawa which is basically her biggest thing. These visits cost us millions of dollars for her to see a concert on Parlimant Hill? Why? She is technically our head of state which is more important than the Prime Minister, yet the Prime Minister does more than the queen (suposibly). We all know we have a Governor General, and she is the representation of the Queen so theoretically, the Governor General is the "Queen"

The Queen is meerly a symbol of our past when we were part of the United Kingdom. She is used in ceremonies and photo ops. Our country would continue without the Queen, but it is more elegant with her!

"A trully elegant tase is generally accomponied by excellenc at heart" ~ Henry Fielding

Toronto Terror

What is going on in Toronto?

I was watching the FIFA World Cup game : USA vs. Ghana yesterday when, on the bottom of the television screen, words start to flow across. "BREAKING NEWS: Police Clash with protesters!" The G20 Summit was being held in downtown Toronto and it cost our government $1.2 billion to put it on. Many groups with legitimate causes said that they would be out to protest peacefully so I was confused and intrigued about what I was reading. During a commercial, I switched to the news channel and saw pictures of police cars on fire, protester breaking windows and vandalising buildings. What had happened to these peaceful protests?

When I think of a protest, I think of people with homemade signs chanting sayings, not people attacking police and breaking windows. Who is going to listen to your cause if you damage their property? I am certainly not. If you come to my house, break my window and then say you were protesting globalization, do you think I am going to be more concerned about Globalization or my broken window? The broken window!

Then, the protesters say that the police are not being respectful to them and are infringing on their civil liberties! BullS@#T I don't know how you can think that if you spit in their face, throw things at them and start yelling at them, they should still respect you. I sure wouldn't! These protesters need to realize that, yes, in Canada we have free speech. It is one of our civil liberties. HOWEVER, it does not mean you can go around, do whatever you want, cause tons of havoc and damage and still expect the right to yell your cause, if you even have one!

I am all for peaceful protests, it can get your point across, but torching police cars, That's a crime!

"Protest long enough that you are right, and you will be wrong. It is easier to admire hard work if you don't do it" ~Unknown Author

Inagural Post

Hello and Welcome!

Well, this is the first post and I would like to personally welcome and thank you for reading.
