Headphones Buzzin'....Always

2012-04-12T20:02:00.001-07:00

Wow has it been awhile since my last post or what? I guess I will have some catching up to do. Sorry for the brief hiatus, but I'm going to be back in rare form with some new content coming your way and I know everyone has been holding it down and keeping those headphones buzzin' on a daily, but jumping back in the mix of things I wanted to make today's headphone buzz dedicated to none other than Whitney Houston. On my hiatus the iconic Whitney Houston tragically died February 11, 2012 at the age of 48. She was found in the Beverly Hilton Hotel , submerged in a bathtub. I won't dig much further into the specifics of the situation, but whether you loved or hated Whitney she was one of the people in the game that many would say inspired most if not all of the singers that you hear today in someway and she changed the landscape. She has had her fair share of issues that the media caught, but you know what? What celebrity hasn't? Just not all of them get the same attention that Whitney got and that's because it was Whitney. So everybody get those headphones buzzin' and press play for the song "I Will Always Love You". It was one of her classics that everybody seems to know from the movie "The Bodyguard" and was the lead single from the soundtrack that was written and originally recorded by Dolly Parton in 1974. R.I.P Whitney August 9, 1963 - February 11, 2012

Today is the last day of 2011 and 12 midnight it will officially be 2012 which means a new year of music and standout artists. There are many artist that did their thing this year on the charts and had plenty of radio play so it would be hard for me to narrow it down to one, but I will list eleven of the top artists in my opinion that kept headphones as well as the charts buzzin' even artists I don't particularly care for, but they always had something playing on the radio and seemed to be really successful this year. So here is my unbiased list. Those artists were Wiz Khalifa, Drake, LMFAO, Jay Z & Kanye West(counting as one because they did a collaboration album), Rihanna, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Adele, Lil Wayne, and David Guetta. Of course there are others I didn't mention, but whether you agree or not these people consistently received radio play. What artists stood out to you this year? Who do you think will standout next year? And who should I as well as others keep there eye on as the next breakout? Have a happy new year!

I think some people forget how clever some rappers can be beyond the flash sometimes especially when it comes to freestyles which requires a verbal finesse that allows you to stream together a mixture of words and below is a freestyle Kanye West did a few years ago that I thought was interesting. Love him or hate him he has talent and not everybody can do it like the below straight from the head. Lyrically he's one of my favorite artist among others so checkout the below freestyle from Kanye and as an extra bonus I'm gonna throw in my favorite performance of him performing the song "Gone" featuring Consequence from his album Late Registration at a concert he did awhile back called Late Orchestration underneath that for you to check out as well and of course gather your own opinions. What's your best freestyle? What do you think of Kanye?

Headphones Buzzin' Or Is "My Mind Playing Tricks On Me"

2011-12-22T19:50:00.000-08:00

I felt like rewinding the hands of time today to what I felt like having my headphones buzzin' to. Specifically 1991 " My Minds Playing Tricks On Me" off the album We Can't Be Stopped by the Geto Boys. This is a classic for hip hop. Over the past years it was selected as one of many songs you must hear and download in the musical reference book, 1001 Songs You Must Hear Before You Die: And 10,001 You Must Download. It has been referenced to as one of the best hip hop songs of the 90's and I don't argue that at all. It's a song that describes different mental states like hallucination, delusion and paranoia. How could that turn out wrong? But seriously do yourself a favor and check out the music video to the song below. If you're a fan of hip hop then do yourself some justice and listen to the song and even if your not a fan you may find it's worth a listen. So look below and press play.

Something something have a good time!" sorry I'm back. See that's what I'm saying, but you will see what I'm saying when you checkout the music video below, but don't quote me.
