WilsonWeb folders going away 1/31/012

WilsonWeb databases have been merged into EBSCOHost, and as a result any folders that you have in WilsonWeb will no longer be available on 2/1/2012. These folders will NOT transfer over to EBSCOHost so any articles contained in them will have to be re-added into your EBSCO folders.

The library has reduced hours in December & January:

Friday, Dec. 16: 9am-noon
Saturday Dec. 17- Sunday Dec. 18: CLOSED
Monday, Dec. 19-Wednesday, Dec. 21: 9am-noon

The library will be closed Thursday, Dec. 22-Sunday, Jan. 1.

J-term runs from Mon. Jan. 2 - Wed. Jan. 18
For J-term, the library's hours are:
Mon-Thurs: 8am-6pm
Fri.: 8am-4pm
Closed Saturdays & Sundays.

Vintage Homecoming Images

To highlight the library's digital collections, we're featuring six images from past Carroll Homecoming Weekends on the library's home page.
These images can all be found by searching the digital Carroll Yearbooks collection.
The images are as follows:
Homecoming 1933 (1934 Hinakaga) image of the parade in downtown Waukesha. Carroll beat Illinois Wesleyan 12-7, stars of the game were players Cullen, Brimmer, Mercen, Borgwardt, and Mickler.
Homecoming 1951 (1952 Hinakaga) image of the Homecoming Court with Queen Carol Cunningham and her court Margaret Allen, Elaine Cheli, Beverly Mann, and Donna Vruwink.
Homecoming 1966 (1967 Hinakaga) image of cheerleaders at the tense game against Milikin.
Homecoming 1974 (1975 Hinakaga) image of cheerleaders, again, cheering Carroll on against Milikin.
Homecoming 1980 (1981 Hinakaga) image of a vintage car full of fraternity brothers in the Homecoming parade.
Homecoming 1994 (1995 Hinakaga) image of the Carroll football team at play, they beat Lawrence that Homecoming 55-27.

Remember that the digital collections can be access from anywhere, all times of the year, but Alumni are also welcome to look at the library's collection of Hinakaga yearbooks, located in the CMC.

ILL Service Restored

As of 7:04pm Wednesday night, the Carroll ILL server was restored. At this time, we're not sure if any patron requests were lost between Tuesday and Wednesday, we will keep you posted as we learn more.

The laminator has left the building

With the increasing demand from academic and administrative offices it has been decided the best placing of the laminator, which was in the library, is the duplication center at Sentry Drive.

Following is the new lead times and pricing for lamination.

Lamination (up to 24")

We require a 3 day lead time to guarantee completion. You may send your items to be laminated along with payment (for personal jobs) or account information for work related jobs to the Sentry Drive Duplication Center. Be sure to enclose your piece(s) to be laminated in cardboard so they don't get damaged in transport. Place your lamination jobs in your Green Duplication Bag. We do not trim laminated pieces. The price for laminating is $1.00 a foot.

Library Catalog Upgrade

On Wednesday morning, August 17th, the library's catalog will be unavailable due to an upgrade. This will begin at 7:30am and hopefully not take more than an hour.

Please call the library at (262) 524-7175 if you need access to library materials during that time.

In addition, the library's website will be upgraded during the next week, so look for our new look soon!

Online Tax Forms

It's that time of year again... time to file taxes!

Federal tax forms can be found on the IRS' website, www.irs.gov.
There are two ways to file your federal taxes for free online:

Use free online tax software. The IRS has a list of participating companies.
Do it yourself online with fillable online forms.

State of Wisconsin online tax forms can be found at the Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue's site, www.revenue.wi.gov.

Some of the tax software will allow you to file your state taxes as well, some will not. The Wisconsin online forms are just that, online fillable forms.

Feb 1st & 2nd Special Library hours due to weather

The Carroll Library will close at 5pm on Tuesday, Feb. 1st due to the severe winter weather.

The library will be open from 10am to 5pm Wednesday, Feb. 2nd.

The Learning Commons desk will be close at 5pm on on Tuesday, Feb. 1st & reopen at 8am Thursday, Feb. 3rd.

The Second Cup coffee shop will close at 4pm, Tuesday, Feb. 1st and will be open from 10am - 4pm Wed. Feb. 2nd.

Classes are canceled as of 5pm Tuesday, Feb. 1st and all Wednesday daytime and evening classes also are cancelled. All classes will resume Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011.

Library Coffee Shop Holiday Hours

Normal library hours resume on the first day of the Spring semester, Tues., Jan. 18.

The Learning Commons stops all Academic Support Services on Tues., Dec. 7th. They will resume on Tues., Jan. 18.

The LC Desk will close at 4pm on Dec. 14th (the last day of exams). It will reopen on Tues., Jan. 18.

Thanksgiving Break Library Hours

Register to Vote @ the Library until Oct. 13th

Did you know that you can register to vote in the City of Waukesha if you live on campus?

If you are interested in voting in the City of Waukesha, stop in at the Carroll Library until 5pm, Oct. 13th and register. You can come to the circulation desk, information desk, or learning commons desk to register.

If you have been issued a Wisconsin driver’s license or identification card, you must bring it with you or know the number on it to register. We do not need to see your driver's license, but you must have your driver's license number on the form. If you have neither of these, please know the last four digits of your social security number to register at the library.

Save yourself time! Download and fill out the voter registration form and bring it with you to the library.

More City of Waukesha voting information can be found on the city's website and also on the library's voter information page.

You can always register the day of the election, Nov. 2nd at your polling location.

Campus Construction- Visiting the Library

The Carroll Campus is getting a facelift this summer, which affects how visitors access the library. The circle drive (access from East Ave.) has been removed, and the sidewalks to the east and south of the library are being redone.

For the months of July & August, the only sidewalks that are open to the library are from the west and north. This means that you can walk to the library from the Barstow St. side of campus or behind Main Hall or from the large parking lot near Van Male.
