What's Playing on My Ipod

2010-05-31T13:43:00.002-04:00

It has been awhile since my last post, but there will be a lot of music coming through the doors.

This is the hit ep from Rad Omen that is exploding across the world. Many people know it more for its music video of four iconic fast food chain mascots out on the town. I don't know why I am so enthralled with this video, I guess it is just putting fake characters into an extraordinary situation. Anyways, the song is amazing. You can download the song on the Rad Omen website.

Brenton Duvall - Ambien (Sleepy Trip)

2010-04-20T05:47:00.004-04:00

Here we have a mash from Brenton Duvall. It mixes Lil' Wayne's Ambien with Passion Pit's single, Sleepyhead. I dare you to hate this song...

I also found this track on Brenton's soundcloud. It is another mash with Biggie rapping over the song "Rich Girls."

The White Panda - Praise Outkast

Still too cool for mash ups? Just stop it. Hating mash ups is like hating dogs. And people who hate dogs are not to be trusted under any circumstances. Got bit by a rabid dog when you were a child? No excuses. The White Panda comes through with another mash up putting Fatboy Slim up against various Outkast vocals. Check it out.

Kid Cudi - I Do My Thing ft. Snoop Dogg

2010-04-14T10:33:00.004-04:00

This is a song recored during the same studio session as "That Tree." This song has more of a Kid Cudi flow to it. But, I think that the lyrics are much more fitting for a Snoop Dogg song. The beat seems like a perfect blend of their contrasting styles.

Hathbanger Remix - MadWorld

2010-04-14T03:20:00.006-04:00

MadWorld (hathbanger refix) - Gary Julesbyhathbanger

This is a gloomy mash done by Hathbanger, the originator of the Party in the USA mash with Biggie. This might not be necessarily fitting for all of you, but if you want a song fitting for a dreary mood or a rainy day, BINGO, this song is for you.

The original sample is the song heard in Donnie Darko as well as a few other disfunctional, plot-twisting, mind numbing movies.

The Video has been leaked ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy!

Unbelievable video.

The song has been in the blogosphere a lot: the song, the remix contest, the anticipation for the video, and now the video itself. If you like the song here is the original as well as a remix...

Danger - 4H30 (F.O.O.L. remix)

2010-04-10T14:42:00.003-04:00

Here is a house song I stumbled upon watching a ski movie. It is an original song by a group called Danger than perfected by F.O.O.L. It is a great song to pump you up. If you are not too keen on the house scene, this song might be the paradigm shift in your music life.

Mos Dub

2010-04-08T13:11:00.004-04:00

Remember Jaydiohead, the mash-up connoisseur’s wet dream that birthed healthy Jay-Z x Radiohead offspring? Well, Max Tannone, the mastermind behind it all, is back, and this time he’s seamlessly melding Mos Def vocals into classic reggae instrumentals. Just check out the opener, “Johnny Too Bad” vs. “What’s Beef”. Nice.

Aloe Blacc - I Need a Dollar

2010-04-02T05:36:00.003-04:00

There is a new show on HBO that I found out about through Kid Cudi's blog. The Moon man co-stars on the show along with a few others. The show is alright. I have received mixed reviews from sources. One thing that is true, the theme song is insane. It has a very soulful sound to it. The first time I heard the song I thought it must have been a remastered seventies soul track. To my surprise, Aloe Blacc (the singer) is a young guy on the rise.

If you like this song, you can make it your here...

Ben Stiller - I Want to Getaway

2010-04-01T10:51:00.005-04:00

I found this song while stumbling on the Internet. The DJ goes by the celebrity's name, Ben Stiller. It is a combination of Lenny Kravitz's "I Want To Getaway" and Jet's "Be My Girl." Definite Ipod worthy!

K'naan - In the Beginning

2010-03-28T17:11:00.005-04:00

In honor of the passing of a great season, I thought it would be best to post one of my favorite ski videos. Now there is a motive for posting this video on this blog, the song. K'naan is known internationally now for wavin' flag but In the Beginning is my favorite song from the Somalian. Don't you worry, I had linked the song to the post so you can pick it up and jam out to it.

Stayin' Hypnotized Like Biggie

2010-03-28T14:58:00.003-04:00

The latest song to be played on my Ipod is a mash of Notorious BIG's Hypnotized and the Beegees Staying Alive. This is a jam that transcends any barriers of music. Who could ever think that THE whitest band in history could possibly jam with the rap legend? I found out that it is possible. I don't remember exactly where I found this song, but I can tell you it is a song that needs to be on all Ipods.

Help spread the word about the blog!

Weezy in the Office!

2010-03-28T10:27:00.004-04:00

Here is an amazing mash of the Office theme song and Lil Wayne's Hustla Musik.

It is a simple mash, but sometimes that is all you need.

Barbara - Pursuit of Happiness

2010-03-28T10:01:00.005-04:00

This is a "folky" remix of Kid Cudi's Pursuit of Happiness performed by a electro band, Barbara. The song sounds almost Jack Johnson. It is smooth and rhythmic. This is a great song to chill to. I imagine relaxing at my lakehouse to this song.

Who doesn't like folk covers of great rap songs?

Enjoy!

Chiddy Bang

2010-03-28T06:26:00.000-04:00

Chiddy Bang is a young "rap" group from Philadelphia. I quote rap because the group is different. There is a rapper, Proto, and a dj, Xaphoon Jones. I have read blogs about there being four members, but I think that Chiddy Bang is now only the two. Xaphoon Jones does a great job remixing old beats, as well as pumping out some original rhythms. Proto has a killer flow. He usually raps about making it to the top or how sick his flow is. Nonetheless, Chiddy Bang is one of my favorite rappers to listen to right now.

The only mixtape I have been able to find is The Swelly Express. This mixtape is definitely one that will always been on my ipod. I listen to it every time I travel.

Here are some of my favorite songs from Chiddy Bang

Kid Cudi - Cudderisback

2010-03-28T06:02:00.007-04:00

Alright Y'all

I have decided that all of the music blogs and websites I follow do not give a consistent level of hip hop craftsmanship. I have volunteered to give the world an amazing blog all about the wonders of the hip hop/rap world. Enjoy!

KiD CuDi "cudderisback" - Directed by Jason Goldwatch - DatNewCudi.com from DatNewCudi / DP on Vimeo.

This is a video from Kid Cudi's blog of a jam! I found out about this song from a friend. It can be described as a "playful" beat and rap. It really captures the essence of the Moon Man. I wish that the band that plays at the beginning could come in and out more often.

The link below is the song in mp3 form. Enjoy!
