Aplastic Anaemia : An 18 year old Suffers

An 18 year old girl has left her studies and is battling for her life in the famous Vellore hospital waiting for Bone marrow replacement to counter her acquired aplastic anaemia . Her parents are helpless as they cannot afford the cost of her treament which is around 12 lakhs.

10 years back I last saw this little, cute girl playing with younger kids in my colony. But recently my mom has called up on my cell to inform that this young girl who had recently joined engineering(B.E.) is suffering from some fatal disease. She is just little above half my age and has lots of life to see ahead. But now she is on a hospital bed fighting for life without knowing how fatal her disease is.I am sure that their parents alone cannot afford the treament and in case they do try (ofcourse they are trying) to get the amount, it will take ages to clear the debt. Why am I speaking so much about a life and then about money ?

Its an irony of life ,the girl or her parents have not done anything wrong but are forced to be in a situation waiting for some donors to save her life. They know that she can survive if she undergoes bone marrow transplantation but they cannot afford the cost . As I was searching for charity organisations and trusts for fund raising I came across these pathetic news items:

Mukesh Ambani donated 5 crores for Tirupati temple in feb 2010.
A karnataka minister has donated 45 crores worth ornaments to Tirupati devasthanam.
In 2007 a devotee donated 1.5 crore worth gold items for the same temple.
In 2006 Amitabh Bachan has offered gifts worth 8 crore for the same temple.
Annual earnings of this temple is almost 2000 crore rupees.

Where is our society heading? Rich are getting richer and poor are getting poorer. The Poor have no money to eat or get treatments for their medical ailments and do physical hard work to get some food for their family . The Rich on the other hand do physical work at gyms to digest their over-eaten food and donate their surplus money to temples . If there was (is) God, wont he be happy or impressed with his devotees helping the needy rather than spending it lavishly on temples and statues.

Medical backdrop:

Bone marrow is a flexible tissue found in the hollow interiors of bones , which produces new blood cells .There are two types of bone marrow: red marrow (consisting mainly of hematopoietic tissue) and yellow marrow (consisting mainly of fat cells). Red blood cells, platelets and most white blood cells arise in red marrow. Both types of bone marrow contain numerous blood vessels and capillaries. Blood cells come from special cells in the bone marrow, called stem cells. In aplastic anaemia blood production by stem cells fails resulting in a lack of red cells (oxygen carrying), white cells (keep body immune to infections) and platelets (which are needed to prevent bleeding and bruising). Imagine a person with lesser blood cells??? Aplastic anaemia is not a form of cancer. There is a lack of cells within the blood and the bone marrow shows replacement of normal blood forming cells with fat cells.

Leader - Telugu Movie review

Sekhar Kammula's new release "Leader" is a nice feel good political drama starring Rana (son of D.Suresh babu and grandson of D.RamaNaidu).

It is no different from his mark of movies , Leader has a simple plot with minor but convincing complications which at the end converge to be a "All is Well" conclusion. This movie is a very good watch but Im afraid it will not reach viewers' expectations. Sekhar does not embed lots of drama or twists in 3 hrs , instead he choses to have simple plot and then explore in minute details . But with hits like "Happy days" in his pocket and launching a star producer's son , Shekhar could have dramatised it more. At the end of the movie I literally checked my watch to see if the movie was over and did it really take 3 hrs. We get involved with the story and the tempo peaks just 15 minutes before the end and our expectations raise on the hero. But suddenly without much drama or thrill movie gets over in a very simple end .

The movie is all about how a reluctant son joins politics to undo his father's corruption and fulfil his mother's dream of changing politics. After his father's sudden demise as CM , hero tries to retain his father's post to change the corrupt political system. Its very interesting how he gets there and then how he tries to retain it . A tender love story emerges in the process and it touches you somewhere. the songs are too good and you dont feel they are popping out from nowhere unlike the way it normally happens in Indian films. The way hero throws net for MLA's , giving them money as his father's last wish or the way he makes opposition leader to support him by seducing his daughter to marriage make jaw bones pain as you laugh and laugh. But the scenes where the girl reacts to his seduction plan(confession) walking in the rain or the scene when his mother dies , punchs you hard at your heart.

There is nothing wrong with the movie but only if people go with expectations from the ace director they may be slightly disappointed .

Kedi - Telugu Movie review

Nagarjuna's new movie "Kedi" is a big disappointment . Its stylish taken and the basic plot has potential to be a big mass hit . But the screenplay has been ammateurishly developed and executed. Let me just give a hint of stupidy carried out in the movie. In a chasing scene when some gang chases Nagarjuna and his family with hurling bullets, Nagarjuna tries to block with hands . Nagarjuna plays Ramee (Ramesh) a smart cheater \ thief\smuggler. But there's nothing smart about the plots , its all stupidy embedded in a full length movie.
Songs are too good, and have been picturised very stylishly .The club song "Janiya jane jana" is ultimate and beats everything else in recent songs in terms of sound quality or beats or picturisation. Im afraid nothing else is left to say anything positive about this movie. Sandeep chowtha has done a very good job but his efforts may run into drain if the film flops. Brahmanandam is not utilised properly and has no scope to tickle your bone. The biggest negative for this movie would be Mamtha Mohandas . She is too good for item numbers or vamp characters but not good enough for heroine roles . Take "Bunty aur bubli", "Dhoom 2", "Manasantha Nuvve" , lots of stupidy and grind in a mixie , you will get a horrible movie called KEDI spoiling all the good scents of the 3 movies mentioned earlier.

Recently Rakhi Sawanth and Ishq bector have come up together to work on a music album titled "Jhagde" . But a song that starts with "Kameeni tera bhoot chad gaya re" has run into troubles as Censor board has asked the duo to delet the word Kameeni.Rakhi Sawanth threatened Censor board publicly if they do not revert back their decision then she will go on hunger strike .If it is publicity stunt or promotional trick for her video she has lambasted the Censor board . Nice enlightening entertainment she provided with her interview to IbnLive."I'll wait for a week and then I go on a bhookh hartaal in front of the censor office."
She even questioned Censor's decisions on letting Kareena doing bare back , Vishal Bharadwaj being let with title Kameeney, not stopping there ,she even questioned Censor's act on Tv serials .
"The censor board has done me injustice by deleting the word kameeni from my song. I won't take it lying down. Dharmendra has been saying the word kameeney for years. Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminey came, were the censors asleep?There're heroines doing love-making scenes with their bare backs showing. Bharadwaj's films invariably have characters mouthing maa-bahen galis. If Rakhi Sawant sings Kameeni tera bhoot chad gaya re, the censor board gets stung. The song has been produced by my company Faith Inc and I'm being damaged."
"Kyon (why)? In the trailers of Ishqiya, they show Vidya Balan punch-drunk on television, and that too in a sari. Is that allowed in our culture? What was Choli ke peeche kya hai? If that can be aired for years, why can't my song be telecast?""Look at serials like Uttaran, Bairi Piya and Bandini. Young girls are being shown getting raped and forced to marry underage men. Women get married repeatedly, sometimes five times. Isn't this against the Indian laws? Isn't this against Indian culture? In serials, we have men dragging their wives by their hair muttering Kameeni main tujhe chodunga nahin. No one pays any attention. Andhra is boiling - MLAs, MPs , MLCs ,Corporators resign

Congress high command, has unilaterally announced in Delhi that Andhra will be seperated . But this decision has given jolts to all political parties in Andhra Pradesh. 100 plus MLA have submitted resignations , 5 MPs have also resigned . 34 members from Legislative council have resigned. Universities in Vizag and Ananthapuram districts are burning high with student agitations .

Congress has 155 MLA s in state Assembly with 7 additional members more than the majority required. With this procession of resignations Congress is cornered . State seperation is a win-win situation for TRS , TDP , PRP and even for Jagan (YSR's son) . These resignations mean new elections, so atleast all these party leaders have a chance to dethrone the current government and get closer to the throne .

Many of the Andhra region congress leaders are questioning their high command , they are asking how they could take the decision without consulting all parties.

Congress MP from Vijayawada (A.P.) and owner of Lenco group of industries, Lagadapati Rajagopal has submitted his resignation to Lok Sabha speaker against his party decision to seperate the state. Already congress has thin majority in Lok Sabha and is depenadant on external help . This is a major jolt .

KCR's son K.T. Rama Rao has announced one more ultimatum "Its impossible to form Telangana without Hyderabad." Even Congress M.P. Hanumantha Rao has lauded the party high command's decision and was stressing that Telanagana would be formed with hyderbad.

On the other hand Danam Nagender , the current Andhra Health minister and former Hyderabad mayor has climbed down on his demand for seperate Hyderabad (as union territory). Even he might have not expected Congress to yirld so easily to KCR's demand .

Government surrenders to TRS - Agrees for seperate Telangana

Late wednesday night (9 th dec 2009)Indian Home minister Mr.P.chidambaram has announced that the "process of forming the state of Telangana will be initiated."

"An appropriate resolution will be moved in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly". If seperated telengana will become the 29th state in India. In 2000 , 3 states were formed Jarkhand, uttharanchal and Chathisgadh.

This move means KCR has won the race. Now Congress makes KCR a hero in the history annals.That marks the start of Congress downfall in Andhra . No decision has yet been passed on Hyderabad. But anything can be decided & announced by the governement . Now some X guy will do fast for seperate state , and consequently Hyderabad will be made so. Next KCR will do fast for 2 more states within telanagana and Congress with their indecisive leadership will do even that.

Who is getting seperate state ? who is losing a part of their state ? Who gets impacted after the seperation . Not atleast Soniya Gandhi , or the COngress leadership at Delhi. But how could they decide over night . Have they given seperate state only because KCR was doing fasting . Have they slept for all these years ????

YSR is no more - Chopper found in wrecks
(Update at 11-00 am IST , 4 th September)

YSR' s chopper is found 10 km away from Athmakur ,in an extremely inaccessible area. All 5 dead bodies are found . There are no survivors .

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and four other persons were killed in the helicopter that crashed in the Nallamala Hills in bad weather on Wednesday losing radio contact an hour after take off from Hyderabad.The bodies of 60-year-old Reddy - who led his Congress party to a spectacular second consecutive victory in the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls - his Special Secretary P Subramanyam, Chief Secretary A S C Wesley, pilot Group Captain S K Bhatia and co-pilot M S Reddy were found on Rudrakonda Hill, 40 nautical miles east of Kurnool.His Bell 430 chopper went down in bad weather.Army commandos recovered the dead bodies of all the five people - including the Chief Minister - who were on board the twin-engine Bell chopper.An Indian Air Force helicopter had on Thursday morning located the mangled remains of the helicopter.

YSR still Missing (Update at 7:30 pm IST , 3rd September)

Andhra Pradesh Cheif Secretary Ramakanth Reddy has briefed the media about the latest scenario :

The helicopter carrying the CM , 2 senior officials and 2 pilots left Hyderabad at 8:35 am .The helicopter was last sighted between 9:15 am and 9:30 am by local villagers in some area between Athmakoor and Bandhiathmakoor , which was seemingly heading to Prakasham district.After 9:35 am the chopper lost Rado contact .As there is no satellite telephone onboard, it is getting diifcult to communicate or trace the chopper .

NRSA helicopter can fly as low as 1.25kms above the ground and cover 250sq.kms

YS RajaSekhar Reddy Missing (Update at 11 am IST)

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has gone missing while on his way from Karnool to Chittoor after the helicopter carrying him went off the radar and lost all contacts with the Air Traffic Controller In Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister took off at 8.30 am from Hyderabad. He was headed to Chittoor for an official function and was scheduled to land at 10.45 am. It has been raining very heavily in Andhra Pradesh.The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Principal Secretary S Subramanyam and Chief Security Officer ASC Wesley when his helicopter lost contact at 0935 hrs IST with the Air Traffic Controller at the Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad while it was headed for Chittoor district, about 600 kilometres from Hyderabad.

The 59-year-old Chief Minister was supposed to land at 1045 hrs IST in Chittoor. But there has been no news of Reddy’s helicopter landing and officials have failed to make any contact with the Chief Minister or any other person on the helicopter.
Reddy had taken off in the helicopter from Hyderabad at 0845 hrs IST.
Kurnool Superintendent of Police said that they have not been able to locate the Chief Minister so far. He said that Pamulapadu, Banakacherla and Karivena areas in the districts have been searched but the Chief Minister could not be traced.
Due to bad mobile connectivity and the area being heavily forested, officials have so far failed to make any contact with the Chief Minister sending security agencies into a tizzy.
PTI reports that Union Home Ministry officials have said that 5,000 CRPF personnel have also been pressed into search operation on the route over which Reddy was to fly. But search operations have been hampered by bad weather in the area.
The Defence Ministry has also deployed an unmanned aerial vehicle for tracking the Chief Minister.
Andhra Pradesh has also asked the Centre for all-weather helicopters for search operations during the night.
Meanwhile, in a startling revelation a Director General of Civil Aviation report has claimed that Reddy's Bell 430 helicopter was not air worthy. However, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said that the helicopter had an airworthiness certificate and had been declared fit to fly till December 2010.
Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah said that there has been no information of the Bell 430 helicopter having landed anywhere while addressing a press conference in Hyderabad.
While he expressed hope that the Chief Minister could be safe, state Chief Secretary P Ramakanth Reddy said it could be possible that the helicopter could have landed in an unfamiliar area from where getting out could be difficult.
"So far we have not been able to make any contact. It is possible because of strong winds and inclement weather, it may have landed in an unfamiliar area from where getting out can be difficult. Time we have before sunset is limited and it is raining heavily," he said.
The state government has also appealed to people living in the concerned area to contribute in the search and inform about any sightings to the nearest police station.
Rosaiah appealed to the people in Chittoor, Mehbubnagar, Prakasam and Kurnool districts to provide any information they have on the missing helicopter. Police and forest departments in the area were coordinating the operation.
He said the Prime Minister's Office, Union Home Ministry and Defence Ministry have been monitoring the search operation while the office of Congress President Sonia Gandhi was in touch with the state government.

Tech mahindra has won the final bid for Satyam . It's going to pay Rs.1757 crore at Rs.58 per share for 31% of stake in Satyam computers. Laresn & Toubro bid at Rs.49.50 per share.

The eagerly awaited Satyam bidding process started in Mumbai today. The deadline for submission of the final bid for Satyam was 9 am, April 13, 2009. The bidders submitted two envelopes; one a technical bid and second a financial bid.

Only a bidder who cleared the technical bid qualifies for the financial bid. In case of a 10% differential between one or more bids and the highest bid, then an open auction would be triggered. L&T, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant and Wilbur Ross were believed to be in the fray for acquiring the company.

However, it has been learnt that Tech Mahindra will run Satyam as an independent company.
Earlier, all three bidders had qualified L&T, Tech Mahindra and Cognizant had qualified for the financial bidding stage after the technical bids were evaluated.
Corporate Affairs Minister Prem Chand Gupta is expected make the formal announcement later. Corporate India has not seen anything like this before. Over 600 clients and nearly 50,000 employees of Satyam were eagerly awaiting the outcome of the bidding, which may give a new direction to the company.

Spice Corp, IBM and iGate were among those confirmed names that dropped out of the race after showing an interest in the company. iGate decided to drop out of the race for Satyam after concerns on falling revenues and not enough clarity on customers and margins. Spice Corp claimed that the bidding process lacked transparency and pulled out of the race.

Jade Goody is remembered at her funeral

International Pop artist Kyle Minogue is doing a Indian movie for a whoping amount of 1.55 million dollars for two days of rehearsals and five days of shooting. She is performing a song along with the main lead of the movie named "BLUE".The movie is directed by Antony Dsouza. Kylie arrived in Mumbai on 25th July. She has already recorded a song for the film titled BLUE which will release around August this year. The song has been recorded by A R Rahman and Kylie will be performing it with the lead Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta and Zayed Khan. Kylie will be in India for about 8 days in which she will be rehearsing for 2 days, and then shooting for the song for about 4 to 5 days.

Shahrukh lashes out at Gavaskar

On Sunday , Bollywood Star Shahrukh lashed out at Indian Cricket legend Gavaskar for making scathing remarks against his kolkata Knight Rider 's cricketing coach John Buchanan and almost asked Gavaskar to know his limits .

"I respect Mr Gavaskar - his knowledge about cricket is a billion times better than me," Khan told reporters in Mumbai. "But this is an era where Mr Gavaskar has not indulged in; nevertheless his knowledge about the game does allow him to make comments.This is a new format that's being tried out. Please give it some breathing space.I am the owner of the team, I bought it. If he wants to implement something, let him buy a team."

Earlier Gavaskar made scathing remarks against the Kolkata Knight rider's coach . "To comment on his multiple skipper theory is to give it the importance it doesn't deserve but what does require comment is how he has got his Queensland pals lucrative jobs with KKR," wrote Gavaskar. "They have a very big support staff which includes his son and most of them are from Queensland. The owners - poor souls - have little idea that they are being milked." he further lashed a tthe Indian media for hyping John ."In India, where the media lives by the sound bite, Buchanan is a regular. It all started when John Buchanan porposed muultiple captain theory for Kolkata knight Riders.He even tried to defend his decision,and tried to play safe by saying that he still has confidence on Ganguly."In fact it could actually be of benefit to someone like him because it could free him up for his batting, when he just needs to his batting or for his fielding when he just needs to do his fielding or when he needs to just do his bowling without the burden of the twenty-over format on his shoulders. At the same stage we might be asking him to make some key decisions for us.It has nothing to do with Sourav Ganguly whatsoever. Finally the much awaited IPL auction for the second season of twenty -20 cricket has taken place in Goa on 6 th February 2009. Flintoff and Kevin Peterson were hot cakes and have surpassed previous years record of highest purchasal of $1.50 million with $1.55million.

Flintoff will play for Chennai Super Kings and Peterson will be playing for Bangalore's Royal Challengers.

Jean Paul Diminy, has been bought by Mumbai Indians for a whopping amount of $950,000. Shaun Tait has been bought by Rajasthan Royals at $375,000.Delhi Dare Devils got Paul Collinwood and Owais Shah for $275,000.

Last year Dhoni was priced at $1.50 million and played for Chennai. It was highly debated about his worhtiness as a player.But infact he deserves the $1.5million tag price, because along with average batting and wicket keeping skills , he has amazing crowd pulling strength . Most Surprising bid

There were talks initially that Bangladesh players would not get takers even at their base praise. When no one seemed to be going for a bid for Mashrafe Mortaza , suddenly Kolkata Knight Riders throwed thier hat on him at his base price of $50,000. Then entered Punjab Kings XI into the race and the bid spirally went up . When it was almost finalised at $400,000 for the Riders , the auctioneer asked if Punjab Kings XI wanted to raise their bid and Preity Zinta nodded and the bid continued. Finally when Knight Riders declared their bid as $600,000 Punjab dropped from the race.This is almost similiar to last year's Ishant Sharma's case when he was seriously fought and has fetched 575% more than his base price.Mortaza has got 1100% more than his base price.

Now Flintoff ,or Peterson for that matter, have immense capability and are worth every single note of the $1.55million lump.They are wonderful hitters, and can be pretty much useful in bowling , not to mention Flintoff is much better in bowling.More than anything they can turn matches on their own and can deliver match winning performances on their own.

Nadal wins the power battle, enters final. The greatest of all powergames in the history of world tennis is taking place at the Australian Open Semi finals between 2 Spaniards. Fernando Verdasco and Rafael Nadal are playing for Final's berth at the Australian Open - 2009 . Both are playing neck to neck , with uttermost power from both ends, mixed with some soft drops and super quality. At the end of 4 sets , score looks 6-7,6-4,7-6,6-7 . Its a must to watch. Its power packed mostly, seeing both of them scoring aces is like watching a action movie.Every point won is a eye feast and every point lost by the other is a close shave. In the last set they were 4 -4 .Verdasco almost lost his last 2 serves in the second and 4 th games and has come back from close breaks.But Verdasco has faultered right at the finish line, last game. Lost the last game , last serve at the Australian open. Thus Nadal proves how difficult it is to beat the champion.Verdasco sweated hard for every point and is made Nadal sweat as well.

In the last set both were going 3 - 3,no breaks yet.Whoever wins is going to trouble Federer at the finals a lot and indeed Federer's chances are very little.Nadal has been frustrating Federer in the recent past with his power shots, now comes one more power player. Its astonishing to see how this new guy, Verdasco is frustrating this power house called Nadal with some nice quality and power.

Serves are tooo good from both sides. Every point , every game and every set is spectacular.In July last year Federer and Nadal had a 5 hour battle .Now its almost more than 5 hrs (1am Melbourne ), still lots left.

I thought Nadal had the strongest of arms in the tennis world seeing him score those aces all these years. But Fernando Verdasco is genious . He is hitting so hard, that many of his first serves are being returned to the crowds by Nadal.T

World Bank ban - Wipro Shares tumble

Shares in India's No 3 software company, Wipro Ltd fell more than 12 percent on Monday after the outsourcer said the World Bank had barred the company from its direct contracts, citing a conflict of interest.

The decision, taken by the World Bank in June 2007 and effective until 2011, was being announced now under revised disclosure policies, Wipro said.The World Bank said in a separate statement from Washington that the ban was for "improper benefits to bank staff". It had also earlier barred Satyam Computer Services for eight years.

Wipro said it had offered American Depositary Shares in 2000 to employees and clients at the initial public offer price. Wipro later extended participation to World Bank employees and their friends and families, under which they purchased 1,750 ADS.It said all participants signed a statement that the purchase did not violate the company's ethics or conflict of interest policies.
By 0523 GMT, Wipro shares were down 10.2 percent at 225.10 rupees after falling as low as 220, in a Mumbai market that was down 2.6 percent.

"We have not yet come out of the Satyam fiasco, so any news like this hits sentiment," said Tejas Doshi, head of research at Sushil Finance."There is a blip, but people are likely to put this aside because the business impact of this is not great for Wipro."

World bank bans even Wipro

Wipro has disclosed its vendor status with the World Bank as the latter had asked for disclosure. The company has now become ineligible for direct contracts from the World Bank till 2011.

Wipro’s cumulative deal with the World Bank amounts to USD 1 million. The World Bank has alleged benefit to employees leading to ban.

Reacting to World Bank’s decision, Suresh Senapathy of Wipro said that World Bank cumulative revenue in eight years has been less than USD 1 million and that the ban will not have any material impact on the company’s business.

Senapathy said that World Bank officials had subscribed to direct share purchase without a nod from the bank. Three World Bank members were offered shares at normal market price, he added.

Slumdog Millionaire sweeps Golden Globe

Finally an Indian has got the much reputed Golden Globe Award . Musical maestro A.R.Rahman has won the Golden globe award for best original score for the movie Slumdog millionaire which was shot in India .The movie has swept the lime light at the Golden Globe awards ceremony by winning in all the categories where it was nominated.

Slumdog Millionaire has lived up to its underdog theme at the Golden Globes, sweeping all four of its categories, including best drama and director for Danny Boyle.
India-based story of an underdog, the Danny Boyle-directed Slumdog Millionaire in on a winning spree, first bagging the award for the Best Film, Best Director (Danny Boyle), Best Screenplay category (Simon Beaufoy), and the Best Original Score (A R Rahman). It has also won the Globe for the Best Motion Picture.

Shot in Mumbai, Rahman's song Jai Ho has been penned by lyricist Gulzar."Your mad, pulsating affection for our film is much appreciated," said director Danny Boyle.
The film tells the story of a slum kid who participates in popular reality game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (Who Wants to be a Millionaire?) and wins Rs 2 crore in a bid to win his love interest back.

But the irony is that the movie is based on an Indian plot , which has to be directed by a foreign director and then only it could sweep the Golden Globe. Wake up bollywood !!!!!!!!!!

Indian government has dissolved the satyam board of Directors and has announced its own nominees .A 3 member board has been announced by P.C.Gupta , Corporate Affairs minister consisting of Deepak Parekh, Kiran Karnik And C.Achuttan . More members may be announced and the new board will meet withing the next 24hrs. Chiarman to be decided by the Board.

All three are eminent experts in India. Deepak Parekh is the chairman of HDFC .Kiran Karnik had been the President of Nasscom in the past. C. Achuttan is a legal brain and is a past member of SEBI.The three member board now is a perfect combination of IT, Law and Finance . Deepak Parekh is a Financial wizard, Kiran karnik is an IT expert and C . Achuttan is a legal brain.

The initial reaction of Kiran karnik, one of the board directors is "Satyam will be back in the race.Will get company back on track. We will ensure there is business continuity, it's critical.It's important to maintain Customer confidence. Government has moved quickly and decisively."

Deepak Parekh had qualified as a chartered accountant in England and had worked with Ernst & Young, Precision Fasteners, ANZ Grindlay's and Chase Manhattan in New York and Mumbai before he came to HDFC.
Kiran Karnik is a post-graduate from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.He was the President of Nasscom.BusinessWeek named Mr. Karnik as one of the 'Stars of Asia.' He was also selected as Forbes magazine's 'Face of the Year 2003,' for being a driving force behind India's offshoring wave.Prior to joining NASSCOM, Mr. Karnik was the Managing Director at Discovery Networks in India where he spearheaded the launch of Discovery Channel in South Asia in August 1995 and Animal Planet (a Discovery - BBC joint venture) in 1999.Mr. Karnik has worked for over 20 years at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

Satyam in Turbulent waters - Chairman resigns

Under attack over 1.6 billion dollar acquisition fiasco of firms promoted by his family Satyam Computer Chairman B Ramalinga Raju on Wednesday resigned and said he would subject himself to the "laws of land".
Minutes later, the company also announced resignation of its Managing Director B Rama Raju.
The resignations, ahead of January 10 board meeting pushed the company into crisis and paved the way for immediate restructuring of the board and the management.
Shares of the company also plunged by over 40 per cent soon after the resignations.
Satyam, considered a ripe proposition for acquisition, was pushed into crisis after Raju was forced to abandon the acquisition of Maytas Infrastructure and Maytas Properties promoted by his son.
In a regulatory filing the company said Raju would continue to be the chairman till the board is expanded.
"Under the circumstances I am tendering my resignation as the chairman of Satyam and shall continue in this position only till such time the current board is expanded. My continuance is just to ensure enhancement of the board over the next several days or as early as possible", B Ramalinga Raju said.

Raju writes letter to the Board
In a letter to the Satyam board members, Raju said that the company reported inflated revenues over years. He said that he feared takeover due to poor finance performance. Coming clean on financial irregularities, he said that the company had Rs 1,230 crore worth of understated liability as of September 30. His decision was conveyed to the company’s board members. The company was supposed to hold a board meeting this Saturday. Even since announcing the controversial Maytas deal, Raju was under pressure from investors as the decision raised issues over corporate governance.He said that the balance sheet has inflated cash & bank balance of Rs 5040 crore. No board member had any knowledge of the real situation as against books.

The balance sheet was inflated and accrued interest of Rs 376 crore in the books is non-existent. He further writes in the letter that Rs 1230 crore was arranged to Satyam, which is not reflected in books. Ram Mynampati will act as interim CEO. Merrill Lynch can be entrusted to explore the merger options. He asks auditors for restatement of accounts in the light of new facts. Raju in his letter further said that the Q2FY09 reported revenues of Rs 2700 crore Vs actual revenue of Rs 2112 crore. The Q2FY09 operating margin reported was Rs 649 crore against Rs 61 crore. The Q2FY09 numbers had Rs 588 crore of artificial cash in books. He said that he is prepared to subject himself to law of the land and face the consequences. The account manipulation started several years ago. An attempt to eliminate the manipulation was failed, he added.

How it all started ?
The doom for Satyam has all started with the World bank's public outcry over Satyam in feb 2008.The dispute is centred around claims that Satyam had provided “improper benefits to Bank staff and failed to maintain documentation to support fees charged for its subcontractors” resulting in Satyam being declared ineligible to receive direct contracts for a period of eight years. "

Although this dispute has been happening behind closed doors for some time, with the initial temporary suspension of Satyam having taken effect in February 2008, the timing is very unfortunate for Satyam. It came less than a month after the previously announced acquisition of Maytas Infra and Maytas Properties was called off following adverse investor reactions. This acquisition also resulted in action being brought against Satyam and some of its senior staff by its client the mobile payments specialist Upaid, which alleged that the acquisition was an “attempt to strip all surplus cash from Satyam” – cash that would otherwise be available to pay Upaid, if Satyam had lost the case. 26 December saw the problems made worse by the resignation of Dr Mangalam Srinivasan, one of the independent directors of Satyam.

The Board of Satyam has some best brains in business. They include Vinod Dham, known as the “father of Pentium” for his role in developing the computer chip made by Intel; T. R. Prasad, dean of the Indian School of Business; and Krishna Palepu, who teaches at Harvard Business School above all B. Ramalinga Raju, Satyam's founder and chairman. Satyam is no ordinary company either. Even if is spelt in the right direction or reverse, no body can take away its position as India's fourth-largest IT outsourcer.

Pavan Kalyan is a Loafer

Andhra politics have reached boiling brim.
On 30 th jan Pavan Kalayan, Chiranjeevi's younger brother from PRP party has called Congress state leaders as criminals and betrayers .Reacting to his word artillery, state Congress minister Shabbir Ali has called Pavan Kalyan as loafer and has poked at Pavan's personal life. He questioned Pavan's credibility as youth leader saying that he married one , left her and started living with someone else.He called Pavan kalyan a rowdy. Shabbir Ali even went further and asked if pavan has not got lesson from the head shaving session by Paritaala Ravi and asked "When his head was shaved where his macho power, his pride went ?".

Reacting to all these remarks, Pavan has told that he is not gonna react to the personal remarks . He simply asked if he is speaking loafer langauge then what is the language used by the minister.

Later congress party workers have surrounded PRP party office in hyderabad to protest against the comments made by Pavan Kalyan, which was retailed by PRP workers.

Pavan kalyan has always been an emotional person and has huge fan base in Andhra.To some extent what minister has said is true but his personal remarks will belittle Congress party's dignity and in particular the minister's image.

I was returning from my office after a hectic day at work in my car at around 2 am. It was all dark around , still my coding issues are running in my mind. I was enjoying my super-high speed drive on the free high-way.I was almost drowsy , I wanted to jump on to my bed as soon as possible. I would have completed my work and returned earlier than that time if I had not spent most of the time with chats on phone, gtalk and orkut..... but it was a colourful day as the new lady in my team has finally agreed to come with me for a weekend movie. As I was thinking (dreaming ) of all this , suddenly a guy crashed onto my car and fell on the divider . By the time I could realise what was happening , my colleague cum room-mate, sitting in the back-seat started screaming, "He is Killed, lets move away...."

Without thinking anything i followed my frens words and drove fast. I was highly confused and my legs were shivering.Once I reached my home,I realised that the guy would be bleeding whole night on the road with no help. I did not want to be a coward and I was feeling restless , so left my fren and went back to the spot on another(my frens car ). Its all dark, the bike was on the middle of the road and the guy was banged onto the divider. I dragged the guy into my car and drove him to the nearest hospital which was some 10 kms away.

I told the Hospital authorities that i saw this guy bleeding on the road . They informed Police andt the guy had some life in his body.I could feel his pulse while dragging him . I left the place , without furnishing my true details ,at around 5 am. Once I reached my home, I found the guy's cell phone lying in the car, kept it safetly in my draw .

I was having mixed feelings , I din want that guy to die like that because of me, but I am also afraid what would happen if he survives and takes my name.On that day his cell was ringing continuosly , so many people were calling him and many msgs were flowing in. I could nt switch off the cell as it would give doubt to the callers. .Every time it vibrated my legs shivered faster than those vibrations.

In the night i grabbed the cell and started reading the messages . All messages are from a single number, it was from some, Thrishali .
6 a.m:"I will be near register office at 9 am" .....
8 am:"Don forget to bring the garlands"......
9 am: "I reached , where are you"....
10:55am: "Why you are not picking the call."....
11:55:" I am waiting for last 3 hrs , are u coming or not"............
3 pm:"So you finally showed your true colour, you scary cat, I am going back to my home"......
9pm: "It was my mistake to trust you, i am visiting doctor tomorrow for abortion".......

After 2 days , again I opened the inbox. Same gal's messages, "I trusted you more than myself, still you did it to me. Ok don marry me , but don run away like this. Speak to me, I need you, I cant tell about my abortion to anyone. I cant cry in front of anyone other than you." Just as I was reading through that mesage , tears were scrolling down my face. For no mistake of this guy the gal is mis-understanding him and she is in acute pain.

There was one more message from his younger bro or sis ,I guess. "Bro , why you are not picking calls.Last date for my exam fees is approaching and you have not done the online money transfer yet. Do it fast.Mom also wanted you to send money for monthly rations, nil balance, pleaze understand." After a week again I opened the inbox, the little bro (or sis ) spitting venom "Just because Mom said no to your love, you ditched us?? You know that we are surving here only with what you send,still???Ok your wish , thats it . Its all over.. For us you are dead and same with you I guess.." I could nt stop myself from weeping .I never hated anyone more than myself on that day.

Next day I went to hospital to enquire the guy's status . He was in Coma and on ventilators. I could nt control myself, I wanted to die . Someone is dying because of me and his close-ones are no where near. The only help I could do is inform his close-ones. I gathered my courage and called his bro and and his gal friend and informed about his accident and that I found his cell lying in the car only after a week. The gal came , wept like hell and I could nt show my face to her .After she went off ,then his Mom and younger bro came . They were shattered and I could nt control his mom . She was weeping holding the guy's legs.After a week the guy lost his battle on ventilators.I saw that his family got all the insurance amount and his hospital bills were all payed by his company.

After a year I approached the gal's parents through one of my uncles and soon our marriage was arranged. Just the day before our marraige the gal came and said she was aborted and told all the story. I held her hands and asked me to slap, she dint understand but I explained everything. She was silent for a while and then hugged me !

Chiru's honeymoon in politics has ended , now time has come for him to face the ugly side of politics . In a road-show , when the popular star of Telugu cinema was travelling, eggs were thrown at him. It was done by mischievious students from another party (TRS) . But being a film star he reacted in filmi style, saying he will acceptequally garlands and eggs . Its a shame for politics .Though he is a kid in politics, his moves and people's reception are causing trembles in other party circles. He is going ahead in politics vouching for a CHANGE in politics .This very slogan has got Obama to the forefront in the race for WhiteHouse !!!!Anything can happen, from now-on.
