The Improv scene has been a growing community in Columbus and now it’s about to get a little bigger. Tara DeFrancisco and Rance Rizzutto are both world class improvisers from Chicago that have decided to give Columbus talent a professional home stage. Tara and Rance discuss their beliefs as instructors and improvisors and what it takes to really learn the loose art form.

They all start out learning with their weekly workshops and open mics, while some have ended up being finalists in the Columbus Funny Bone Competition, open for Dan St. Germain, and even be a part of the Arch City Comedy Festival. Brian Doney noticed that after drinking for a year he didn’t learn much about it because people would give advice while he was drunk. So this time Brian asked the Bossy Grrl’s bartender, Griffin Browning, if he could interview him about the art of mixology. Griffin agreed and decided to show Brian his creative process by making five specialty drinks throughout the interview. After discussing mixology the two discuss how Griffin came to be a stand up comedian and the host of the political show FiliBUSTED!

At the 400 building Angela, Tona, and Mona are organizing an art gallery and auction for Colony Cats and have been accepting art work from anyone anywhere. They talk about how they bring this large gallery together, what it’s like to work with so many artists, and cats of course!

His hard work as a cook is to make you the customer happy and Chaz understands that satisfying the customer doesn’t just end when he hands the plate to your waiter. You’ll understand after hearing this interview that passion for what you do means doing whatever it takes to be a part of it. Chaz’s ultimate goal is to be a chef someday and while we wait for that restaurant to open stop by Spagio’s for Tuesday & Wednesday Prime Rib Night which he will prepare personally.

Jason Banks is a great comedian who currently resides in Westerville. He regularly hosts the Columbus Funny Bone open-mic and has worked with names such as Bruce Bruce, Gary Owen, and Joey Diaz. His joke writing is something to be admired and is outrageously funny. Before coming to Columbus he learned his stand-up chops and hosting skills at the Funny Stop club. Since arriving he has been adding a unique style to a scene that he loves. His insight and work in stand-up gives a lot of information about writing, performing, and social media which you can hear all about below!

Musician Sarah Cooperider is a talent whose charming personality and off the cuff humor has gotten her chances to work with LGBT, Pride, burlesque groups and music shows all around Columbus. She talks about her drive to be creative and pursue music. It’s her bravery to do what she wants that has gotten her to a better place in her life and given her tremendous success. Listening to her talk about being honest with herself and that her real goal in life is to be happy is inspiring. Joshua Reppart is a talented self taught painter who one day decided to take his gift and use it to help others which is how the Art, Mind & Soul art classes began. With these classes Joshua helps others with mental illness, drug abuse, and PTSD by giving them a safe place to express themselves. Through this conversation we find out why being creative is important to improve someone’s mental health. Joshua hopes that more students will join so he can teach them the skills to be expressive and happy when he starts up his classes again at Wild Goose Creative on September 12th There will be a benefit show for these classes called BOTU: Art, Mind, & Soul on August 21st at 8pm which Brian will be hosting.
