Life is but a big game. You can make the rules as you go along, or you can follow someone else’s rules, or you can decide to not play and live, do nothing and die emotionally and physically with many regrets to think about. You can blame and settle. You can win and conquer. You can love or hate. You can learn from others mistakes or make your own mistakes and learn. Every single day we are faced with choices and decisions. Whatever way you choose to play the game of life, at the end, the choice is yours. And the best part about it is that you have control over everything you do or don’t do.

Repeat the following out loud:

“I made my bed, but I don't necessarily have to sleep in it, I can take a minute to think, observe my strengths and weaknesses, and remake the bed to my satisfaction. We all make mistakes, but it’s when you continue to make the same mistakes that you just don’t get it. A New Year, a New Life. It’s not over until I’m dust or beneath the earth. Stay positive, Stay strong, Stay the real me!”

There is an exercise craze and trend for women that is sweeping across the US and Canada. Pole Dancing classes have actually been around at least since 2007 from what I know, but it was not that popular.

I first heard about pole dancing classes as a form of exercise from a co-worker at a Christmas Party.

The New Year is approaching fast and fierce. In order for you to feel happy, you have to move and grow. Simply put, you have to take your life to a new level. Example: Are you a good mom?

Then what can you do to become a better mom. Are you a great dancer? Then what extra moves could you learn to become even greater? Are you doing really well in your career? Then what can you do to implement new business decisions or ideas to further your career?

Okay I think you get the picture. Whatever you think you are good at, or maybe not so good at, what exactly can you do to make it better?

What are you passionate about? What are your dreams and goals? Ladies, what do you want out of life? Be clear, specific, and write them down.

Here are 6 MUSTS to start out the New Year correct

1. Simply decide to be happy. To be happy is YOUR choice.
2. Be true to who you are. Be happy with who you are.
3. Be comfortable and creative in your own skin. Literally!
4. Remember and acknowledge strong and inspiring moments in your life and embrace them. These moments will help you create new moments in your life.
5. You have to take steps toward your goals. Every single step you take toward your goals will give you feedback on your direction. Whatever you do, keep moving. Movement is life. Movement is an element of happiness.
6. Remember: You are beautiful. Your worth as a woman is priceless. It’s the truth!

Have a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year. Embrace life, embrace your beauty, love others, give, show gratitude, and love yourself. Celebrate all the magnificent things and people who are a part of your life.

I went to the Black Congressional Caucus in Washington DC in September 2010. It was a fantastic experience. I truly enjoyed it. I was invited along with my publisher of Xpress Yourself Publishing Jessica Tiles. It was my first trip to Washington DC. I mean I was pretty impressed with Washington DC in general. There are a lot of movers and shakers there. I got to network and meet other professional people.

Create a mission statement for your life right now. What do you stand for? What are you about? Where is your life heading? What do you want?

Forget about what you don’t want, and FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS on what you want right now!

Sometimes it can seem as though we do not have control over our lives. We want this or that, but yet our thoughts are focused on something totally different, and on the flip side we’re feeling something else as well. When this happens, our thoughts, actions, and feelings are conflicting. And when that happens, it’s easy to feel out of control, or that life is pulling us by a string in different directions, at the same time wondering when that string is going to snap.

Understand you do have direct control over your mind, which is the strongest component we have as humans.

Read this with me:
· I have direct control over my attitude
· I have direct control over my actions
· I have direct control over what I allow myself to think about
· I have direct control over changing how I view things that may be unpleasant to my mind
· I have direct control over removing unpleasant thoughts out of my mind
· It’s okay to make a mistake, but it should not be okay for me to keep repeating the same

mistake, and not learning from it. Also, realize with mistakes can come consequences. Take it
for what it is and move on with extra positive energy.
· I have direct control over everything that goes on inside my body, sprit, and mind. Treat the

outer things as irrelevant.
· When I’m hurt or feeling low, I will always take it as a lesson learned for good or for bad and

still move on with extra positive energy.
· I am worthy to be loved, and most importantly, I am worthy of self-love

Recognize your control. Own it and live it. Follow passions.

Today has got to be the most exciting time of my writing career. As I sit and type this blog, I am in Chicago, Illinois. I was interviewed this morning at the WGN-TV studio by Steve Sanders who is a veteran broadcast journalist.

I talked about my most recent book, Lessons Learned: Loving Yourself as a Black Woman. I am so passionate about this book and felt so honored to have talked and spread the word about it. Although the book is catered towards women of color, certain subject matter is suitable for any woman wanting to improve qualities of her life.

Chicago is the number three market, right behind New York, and Los Angeles. The interview only lasted about 5 minutes. The time went by so quick. The night before, I was a nervous wreck, wondering if I’d answer the questions correctly. After the interview was over, there was so many things that went through my mind – Did I look stupid? Was my hair sticking up? Did I sound like I knew what I was talking about? It's so funny when I think about it now. LOL

I have family in Chicago, and my cousin came down to the studio with me. And she took pictures. She said I did great, so I felt comforted.

A New Year and a New You. Dating is as old as molasses; however, there are new ideas and perceptions when it comes to dating in this hi-tech day and age. Many are single or are recently getting out relationships and marriages. If you are just joining the dating scene as a woman, there are some important things to consider before you go on that first date.

1. Love Yourself First
If you are depressed or have low self-esteem, you need to deal with that immediately before you even think about entering the dating scene. Do not think that dating someone and searching for love is going to cure your low self-esteem or depression. It will not. In fact, getting involved with someone while you’re low on self-love may very well make you feel worse.

Don’t be so desperate to jump into a relationship, because when we are low on self-love, we sometimes have too many expectations of another, and we rely on someone else, like a man to make us feel loved. Men can sometimes notice these types of women. They are usually the ones who will go all out of their way to please a man’s every need, and will sleep with a man too quickly.

These men may very well take advantage of you, or say things that sound wonderful, but actually, they don’t really mean a word of it. It boils down to a man’s actions that will bring his true colors out. Always love yourself first. That is Rule #1. Loving yourself first is a beautiful quality that any real man will appreciate.
