Is Your Mindset Set for Success or Failure?

I've talked about this topic before but not in this way so if you're NOT experiencing GREAT SUCCESS currently in your business and YOU WANT MORE, then read on.

You see, in a GOOD economy many small business owners and entrepreneurs can 'slip by' and succeed to a certain degree, maybe to where you're 'comfortable'.

But in a not-so-good economy, you have to be ON YOUR GAME at all times, right?

Well, a big part of being on your game includes, not only having products and services that your customers want at prices they will pay; but it also includes YOU, the business owner, having the right mindset so the Universe understands and gives you what you want.

But having the right mindset is more than just setting intentions, writing out your goals and a plan or speaking affirmations to yourself every day.

In addition, if one day you have a clear, positive picture of what you want and then the next day you may be a little less focused, a little down in fact or maybe a little doubt or worry has crept in and you can't escape it...then guess what?

You are sending mixed messages to the Universe as to what you want, when you want it and how important it is to you.

There are 4 Steps to Creating a Powerful Success Mindset that you want to follow so that you set yourself up for Success, not for Failure:

Define and overcome limiting beliefs - you have to first find out what it is, deep inside, that's causing you to be stuck, depressed or lack the confidence in yourself that you know you need to be more successful. You need to find out where your thinking is skewed around money or love or self esteem like "Why do you make decisions based on what you have (or don't have) instead of what you NEED to do?"

Create empowering beliefs - then once you find out what you need to shift, you have to take inspired action towards shifting and changing that thinking and acting every day. It's not easy and this part could take months and months (or even years I've seen!). You want to get to a place where there is no fear, doubt or worry holding you back. You want to be uncomfortable, that's when you know you're stepping out in a BIG way.

Love for self and others - like I mentioned above about having confidence in yourself and a positive self esteem (100% all the time), this is nearly impossible for most people, we all go through times when we're tough on ourselves for one reason or another. But you have to STOP THAT; seriously, if you want to truly succeed. You have to have complete faith and love for yourself and others that it will all work out and that you will succeed regardless of ANY situation or obstacle that may arise.

Owning your own personal power - this is where it all comes together and it shows all the time. You live, walk, talk and even write your clear brand, your message, your vision (like I discussed in last week's ezine), your ultimate lifestyle, your self confidence and you are truly ON YOUR GAME all the time!

Now, these things don't change overnight, they take some time and often take others to help you move through them too. But don't get discouraged, just get started now. If you want that 'magic pill' or 'quick solution' to success -- good luck trying to find it.

What I know about successful people is that they are always working on improving themselves and learning more. They invest in themselves, their businesses and take time to work on this stuff.

That's how I did it; I hired a couple coaches who helped me in the areas I needed to work on and I moved through this much faster than I ever could have on my own. I can help you too, I'll show you EXACTLY what to do.

Hopefully I've given you something to think about as far as how you can become more successful in your business.

"5 Keys to Developing a Deep Connection with Your Authentic Self"

I've talked about this topic before but I thought I'd write about it again because it's so important to focus your time on during this tough economic time especially!

You see, during tough times when money is tight for many of you and most of all, many of your prospective customers, it's more important than ever for you to be 100% Authentic in your business, your life and EVERYTHING you do.

Why?

Because people notice when you're NOT being authentic and especially now, they WILL NOT BUY FROM YOU if this is the case or if they even remotely sense that you're not being totally true or transparent with them. They will be turned off by you if they sense you're not being honest with them OR with yourself in one way or another.

So what can you do to make sure you're projecting 100% authenticity in your business?

Identify your core values and what means the most to you. Then make sure these are known, they're tied into the copy on your website, marketing materials and when you speak.
Write out your personal and business goals, speak them, live them, teach them and be true to them. (oh and think bigger too, but that's a whole other subject!)
Visualize your deep desires. Think about where you're lacking in life, what have you neglected (maybe yourself?) and then find a way to turn those around so that you're achieving your desires. Those who see that you're doing this will want to follow you and learn from you so they can have theirs too.
Set your priorities and stick to them. Don't say you're going to make time for yourself, your massages or your family and then NOT follow through; that's being in-authentic with yourself and it shows!
Realize and LIVE your true Life's Purpose. Make sure you're in the business or doing the thing that makes you happy, don't just be doing what you're doing to pay the bills; life is wayyyy too short!

Ready to add another market? , part 2

Now, if you are ready to take on another market....you can try the following tips to get started:

Choosing another business industry type - For example, if you already target attorneys and insurance agents, would it make sense then to add on commercial brokers and mortgage consultants or some other industry type?

Adding another zip code or area - For example if you primarily concentrate your business in one geographical area, network in that area and serve other business owners B2B in that area, then you might simply take on another area, their networking events and those same business types in that area. This is what I do when I join another chamber - I take on all kinds of networking in that area to be very visible; but I don' t add another chamber until I've become totally top of mind with the ones I'm in (and assuming I had more time to network!).

Duplicate something you're already doing but for a different market - For example, if you run a workshop or have a coaching program of some kind specifically targeted to say spa owners; is it possible to duplicate that process/program for massage therapists, chiropractors, dentists, etc.?

Adding online marketing to reach the masses - (or you can still localize your online searches as well) This might require packaging your expertise in such a way that you could sell it online in Ebooks, Teleclasses, coaching programs, etc.

I believe it's important to set up easy to follow, easily maintainable, logical and effective marketing systems in your business. This doesn't matter if you're large or small but without systems you could be running-a-muck!

Then, once you have these set systems in place for mailings, emailing, networking, advertising, publicity, speaking, tradeshows, etc. (which is what I help you do in my 1 hour Strategy Session of course)...

AND THEY ARE PRODUCING RESULTS THAT YOU WANT. (the important key)

Then, and only then should you add on another market, industry, target audience, group of prospects - you get the picture.

Why?

Because if you keep adding new markets or new groups to target without effective follow up marketing systems to keep in touch with them - you've completely wasted your time and money on developing those new leads.

Many small business owners do this every day. They keep reaching for that new business, new lead, new way to get their name out there, new networking group and new advertising medium to generate the new business. But you know what? 9 times out of 10 they forget to do their consistent, effective, relationship building, ongoing marketing and follow up.

Sound familiar by chance?

If and when you've done all this with everyone and anyone you know and who's on your list and you are still doing it consistently (because it's 10 times easier to get repeat or referral business than it is new business)...

Then, you can start marketing to a new market. Ok? Sound like a plan? Believe me; you will thank me if you set all this up ahead of time. Otherwise you'll go marketing to a new market, get a ton of leads and not have time to even follow up on them much less the ones you already have.

Relationship Marketing is the easiest and most effective type of marketing out there - ask anyone in the industry. For small business owners and entrepreneurs this is a must if you want to succeed.

So, please don't try to sell your products and services to everyone just because they breathe air, niche it out to where you can have a specific message to your unique target audience so when they see your message - they say "Hey, that's for me!"

Here is the second part to my tips for the Steps in Outlining Your Ultimate Lifestyle Vision (and Business)

You want to outline specific and timely goals that you want to attain in a specific time period. You can post these on your vision board too, I do. I make up about 8 goals for the year - big, lofty ones like publish my book, hold my first 4 day event, be a speaker at a big annual conference, etc. I don't worry about posting all the little details that go with each goal or writing down HOW I plan to accomplish them because that would be too daunting of a task.

You just want to write enough to throw it out into the Universe what you plan to accomplish.
Plus, when you write simple, quick goals like this you can actually take them and post them in your office, by your bedside, in your wallet, car or other significant place where they will ALWAYS be on the top of your mind.
Then of course you have to BELIEVE and have complete FAITH that you WILL attain them. (that's the hard part)

Lastly, you need to take a look at your environment and your relationships.

Are they serving you?
Are you being supported?
Are you being encouraged (at all times no matter what crazy ideas you come up with)?
Are you completely and utterly happy? Because if you're not, what's the point?
Take a deep look at your environment, your relationships with loved ones, co-workers and anyone around you or any THING around you that could be bringing you down. You have to keep your mind OUT of the negative AT ALL TIMES - this is CRUCIAL to your success!!!

Hopefully I've given you something to think about as far as how you can redesign your life or business (There's always room for improvement!).

Over the course of the last 3-4 years in my business, I've invested heavily in coaches, mentors, workshops, mastermind groups and kicking my own learning up a BIG notch. I did this not only to advance my own business but to help grow my client's businesses too.

I wanted to create a better life for myself. I wanted more freedom to be able to be with family, travel and to speak and inspire other entrepreneurs.

When I first set out on this quest of business development, I didn't realize I'd also be making a huge transformation in my self and personal development as well!

What I learned is that no amount of marketing, planning or goal setting would make me as successful as I wanted to be without the right mindset around TWO THINGS: Love & Money.

What I also learned is that in order to truly attain the lifestyle, the business and the life that you ultimately want you have to do 3 main things (and do them regularly mind you):

First, you have to develop your overall vision. What do you want your life to look like?

Do you want quarterly vacations?
Do you want a 7 figure income?
Do you want to only work Tues-Thurs, 5 hours a day?
Do you see yourself volunteering, giving back or doing something towards some other worthy cause?
Whatever this looks like for you, you need to claim it! You need to really give this some deep thought, not just a fleeting idea. You also want to be on the same page in your visioning as your significant other (that helps).
Helpful Tips to Keep Your Vision Top of Mind at All Times:
* Create a vision board and hang it in your office - cut out magazine pictures or words, use photos of things you want, etc. to make a colorful collage of what your ULTIMATE VISION looks like.
* Create a vision video, something short with motivating pictures, words and songs that capture what your ULTIMATE VISION looks like for you and then you can watch it every morning like my friend Kelly.
* Develop vision statements, sort of like a mission statement, and then write them on sticky notes or signs around your office, car and home.

3 Keys to Enjoying a 6 - 7 Figure Business

At a recent workshop I just attended, one of the speakers mentioned the top 3 things you have to have to enjoy a 6 or 7 figure business and life.

While this is always a topic I enjoy listening to or talking about, I jotted their 3 things down and made a little tweak here and there and this is what I came up with to share with you:

First, you have to know your Life Purpose and what you are truly here to do. If you aren't sure how to find out what your Life Purpose is, I encourage you to find out. I got my hands read to find out mine. You can find out more about that here. There are other modalities and individuals that say they can also help you determine your Purpose, but do one of them and figure it out. Often times it's MUCH BIGGER than you think it is and you may have to really step into your power more to claim it!

Second, you must implement a money-making, freedom-based business model much like the one I have and like I teach many of my students how to build. This way your time is maximized, your expertise is emphasized and you are heavily rewarded for providing your intended gifts (which is a must!).

Thirdly, you've got to be fully in love. At the very minimum in love with life and love with yourself (Meaning you're 110% confident, you embrace your power, you stand up for your wants and needs, you truly value yourself, you believe in yourself and you invest in yourself and your business.) If you're also in love with a significant other too - all the better your business will be too! If you're not 'in love' at the moment or you're struggling in a current relationship then that's definitely hurting your business' revenues so see what you can do to improve your situation...FAST.

Motorcycle Mama (ok, Rookie)

So, my boyfriend has this motorcycle and I've ridden it a few times before, nothing major, mostly around town, out to lunch, etc. But last weekend Scott said he wanted to do a 'run' and wanted me to come with him.

He was going to borrow his friends larger bike (I forget the name of it, some big Harley), the kind he really wants to buy; to see if I like riding longer distances on the back of it.

He assured me that this larger bike would be much more comfortable to ride on the back, it would have a back rest (as his has one but it's a pain to put on so he rarely puts it on) and it even has a stereo!

So I said sure, what the heck, I'm game....it's one of his passions so I need to do more with it right? ;0) Then we actually went and borrowed the bike and it didn't have a backrest.

Well I'm not sure how much YOU know about how big of a difference a 'backrest' can make but it's HUGE! With a backrest you can actually relax on the back. You (I) have less fear of falling off backwards on a bounce or bump. On take offs you don't have to grip on so tightly or position your feet in such a way that's really uncomfortable.

Needless to say, it's a lot of work to ride on the back of a Harley without a back rest (in my opinion). You're always having to flex your muscles, sit up tall consciously, and more. (this bike in the pic to the right is NOT the one we rode, that would have been like riding a cadillac!)

So, here we are on our first Harley 'run' and yes it was a lot of fun but boy was I pooped when we got home....too much strain and not enough relaxation; not exactly my favorite mode of transportation.

So, guess what Scott is getting for Father's Day???

You guessed it, a really easy, quick release BACK REST for his Harley!! hee hee

Recap from Baeth Davis' Life Purpose Spirituality Summit

So, I'm back from Vegas and Baeth Davis' Life Purpose Spirituality Summit where I spent 4 days diving deep into what my life purpose was, my life lesson and found out all kinds of cool stuff about myself, inner strengths I need to step into more...and meeting a hundred + fabulous other spiritually minded entrepreneurs.

It was truly one of the best conferences I've been to in a while (and I go to a lot!). Mostly because of the topic, discovering your life purpose. Here's a pic of me and Baeth at her VIP party!

Now before the event Baeth's team mailed out these ink sheets and papers to record our handprints and fingerprints. We sent them back in and at the event we found out what our fingerprints told us!

I had gotten my hands read about a year ago but the person who did them never explained in such a practical and organized way WHY it was so important???

So this time it was really eye opening to hear all about my purpose and lesson. And guess what?

I'm doing my life purpose already! Most of the people in the room were to some extent but many were told they really needed to play bigger so to speak to truly live and serve the way they were meant to.

Here are some more pictures of me at the event, I didn't really take too many because frankly I was busy learning and thinking up new ideas for my business!

I was so moved by some of the non-profit guests Baeth had speak at this event; she wanted to showcase those doing great things with their life purpose and basically everyone there was philanthropically minded to some extent. In fact, my friend Lisa Sasevich stood up one day and challenged all of us to match her $1,000 donation to one of them that I had to stand up and contribute too!

It's hard to describe it all and what I felt or how it's affected me....but I highly suggest that everyone gets their hands read by someone on Baeth's team, she's trained other hand analysts too. You can find out more about Baeth Davis and hand analysis for yourself on her site here.

Then on my last day I was able to have dinner with my mom pictured to the right here, she and her husband John live outside of Vegas and came in to spend the evening with me and my friend Krista. ;0)
