Dear Maria Francesca Pepe, today it is the forth time, i talk about your work. Two years ago, it was “Paradoxa”, your first collection that caught my eye and made me immediately fall in love with your ability to transform unusual shapes and heavy-weighting volumes into wearable jewelry. Then there was “Mucha”, modeled by Alice Dellal. You experimented with materials such as calf, iguana, caiman and sheep skin and oversized shapes that were supplemented by some more filigree details and pieces. This was pretty refreshing.And then, it happend, that you started to mix fashion design and jewelry making in “Art Brut”. This was the point were i got lost.

Like i already wrote, wether it were the shots, or the fashion – i didn`t get the uniquesness of your collection. But thankfully, this changed with your fantastic “Les fabulous C” collection. Back on the track i just praised – the fashion and the jewels, the way how you brought them together and my joy to be able again to dream about wearing Maria Francesca Pepe. Curiously and full of expectations, i landed on your website again to find “Bathing Beauties”. A collection of dresses, jewelry and shoes for summer 2010. While watching your fashion film, i dreamt away to old Hollywood, became a diva, standing on a pool. In one of my bejewelled hands a cigarette, in the other a glass of champaign. Hair well done, head held high and warm summer breeze caressing my soft flowing silk dress. BUT THEN – SHOCK. As desirable your collection was in your film (here, i present some screenshots) , as dissapointed i was, when looking at your lookbook. The bejewelled fashion pieces with elements we already have seen in – sorry to say – way more interesting variations, were not matching the again interesting and innovative jewels, you created.

I can`t help, but stumbling again in the gap of not feeling that your talent for jewelry design is matching your ability for fashion design. One is far ahead of the other. Maybe, my expectations are way too high, maybe i just don`t get it. But no matter what “maybe`s” exist. I am still a fan.

Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal Collection 2010

DIY is going couture. While the former Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal collections have been rather superior DIY with shredded paper experiments and balloon fantasies, this time, the Paris-based fashion forward house is coming up with some serious ready for runway fashion art. And although i truly liked the handcrafted and imperfect touch of the former Artisanal pieces, i would be a complete douchbag not admiring, adoring…praising…the this years output. But if i could state a wish….i`d gently ask to rethink the fantastic mirror top again for runway. It`s just too great to rest in the archives.

Time to glance at the aspiring onces who showed in the off-spots at Berlin Fashionweek.vonBardonitz, a label runned by 25-years old Nicole Roscher caught my attention as well in the Projektgalerie Showroom as at the HBC Couture Show, an off-event in the context of Berlin Fashionweek. Saturday night fever after Fashion Week – Spanier took some impressive shots at Paul Snowdens Wasted German Youth party at Kimchi Princess, which i joined with Lisa and some friends from Hamburg.

Berlin Fashion Week Review – Patrick Mohr

The quiet guy brought noise to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Last season, Patrick Mohr let the homeless run the way, this year, he called the he bodybuilder friends of DJ Hell to set up the stage called catwalk.

Brought by pushcart, the models gave a bizarre look with fake hair, breasts and teeth and clothes made of plastic and stunt kites. Boulevard called him Enfant Terrible and titled Freakshow, but at the end of the day Patrick Mohr is neither a fool, nor a fashionisto provocateur – he`s just a fashion designer who goes for rectangles and quadrangles and created simple T-Shirts, tops, jeans, pants and glasses so far.

Unisex. Unobtrusive. Highly wearable. And…surprise, surprise…payable.

Showtime seems to be his into-the-face tool to push the name, while businesstime is about fairness and service. Buyers praise his quality, prizing and ordering options, customers love his moderate price segment. Neither a freak, nor a fool, but a great entertainer and label to wear – This is Patrick Mohr.
