‘Man of Steel’ Breaks All-Time First-Day Record in PHL with P69.52-M

The new, origin film of Superman flew off to a blockbuster start yesterday as “Man of Steel” surpassed the industry’s all-time opening day record with a nationwide gross of a monumental P69.52-M.

“Man of Steel’s” phenomenal debut bested the opening day record previously established only last April by “Iron Man 3” at P62.9-million.

This was announced today by Francis Soliven, general manager of Warner Bros. (F.E.), Inc. which distributed the film. “This is a day of reckoning for Superman,” added Soliven. “He’s a larger-than-life character beloved by millions of Filipinos, and this was proven today. Fans and families welcomed him back overwhelmingly as evidenced by the long lines, the ubiquitous Superman shirts everywhere, and the cheers at the end of screenings.”

Dominating the over all box-office with a 94 percent share, “Man of Steel” also posted the biggest opening day gross ever for Warner Bros. whose previous best first-day performer was “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” at P28.3-million.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes the epic action-adventure “Man of Steel,” under the direction of Zack Snyder (“300,” “Watchmen”).

In the film, a young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

The film stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Kal-El, four-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams, Oscar® nominee Michael Shannon, Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner, Oscar® nominee Diane Lane, Oscar® nominee Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, and Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe.

Because of his father’s busy schedule, Ian Mark feels that he is not important to him anymore. On the day of his birthay, Ian Mark wishes for his dad to be locked up in their home so he can spend more time with him. ‘The Lone Ranger’ – Fun Trivia

From tricky masks to on-location inside jokes to magically multiplying population, the filming of Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “The Lone Ranger” has been filled with fun trivia. Get a load of these fun facts involving castmembers Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer and the rest of the crew.

“The Lone Ranger” opens in 2013, exactly 80 years after the character first made its way onto the airwaves courtesy of WXYZ radio in Detroit, Michigan, on January 30, 1933. And coincidentally, Detroit is the city in which producer Jerry Bruckheimer was born and raised!
The creation of The Lone Ranger’s mask required much trial and error from Joel Harlow’s makeup department, with ten different designs and seven fittings with actor Armie Hammer. The final version was vacuum-formed over Hammer’s face, and was made of very soft goatskin leather.
The terrifyingly perched “Spirit Platform,” on which John Reid (Hammer) awakens, really was terrifyingly perched at the very edge of Moab, Utah’s Dead Horse Point, with a nearly 2000 foot drop to the valley floor and Colorado River below. The rickety platform itself was an additional 18 feet high, and yes, that really is Armie Hammer and not a stunt performer on top of it!
After wrap on the final day of filming in tiny Creede, Colorado, Johnny Depp held an autograph-signing session with local people for nearly four hours, and despite the fact that the town has a population of only 290, nearly a thousand souls magically appeared for the occasion.
In location in Moab, Utah, the town’s sole sushi restaurant honored the film by creating such specials as “Tonto-maki” and “Kemowasabee Roll” and a drink called “Kemo-sake Mojito.”
On the final day of Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer’s filming in late September 2012, a large cake was wheeled out with a picture decorating its top—not of the two stars, but rather their popular New Mexico-based stand-ins, Wes Trudell and James Blackburn—to the actors’ great amusement.
Rather than hire existing trains, the demands of the script meant that the production needed to build two 250-ton trains, and the five miles of track on which they rolled.
The filming required that several actors—among them Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner and Ruth Wilson—stand on top of trains moving at speeds up to 40 miles per hour.
The Lone Ranger’s “Spirit Horse,” the famed Silver, is incredibly enough “played” by a ten-year-old Thoroughbred-quarter horse mix named Silver, with which head horse trainer Bobby Lovgren of “War Horse” fame was already familiar.
In both Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly, several key cast members and filmmakers—including Depp, Hammer, James Badge Dale and director Gore Verbinski—lived out of their trailers at base camp, enjoying nightly campfires and music. They were sometimes fed traditional stews and fry bread by a local Navajo family on whose land they were staying.

From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, comes “The Lone Ranger,” a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes.

In the film, native American warrior Tonto (Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
Opening across the Philippines on July 17, “The Lone Ranger” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

Julia Barretto shares a touching story of a daughter in conflict this Saturday (June 15) in her episode for ABS-CBN’s longest-running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”

The rising Kapamilya teen star will give life to the character of Alex, a young teenage girl who grew up in a complete and happy family. Her life reaches a turning point when her mother leaves them for another man because of her father’s drug addiction. Before her family gets even more broken, Alex eventually decides to forgive her father. She works hard to prove to her mother that their family will still be happy without her.

Will Alex find it in her heart to forgive her mother for abandoning them? Together with Julia in this episode are Ara Mina, James Blanco, Jacob Dionisio, Tommy Abuel, Manuel Chua, Kristoff Meneses, Marikit Morales, and Yda Yaneza. GMA is Most Awarded TV Network at 2013 Tambuli Awards

GMA Network through its sales and marketing arm, GMA Marketing and Productions, Inc. (GMPI), emerged as the most awarded broadcast company at the 2013 University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) Tambuli Awards: 7th Asia-Pacific IMC Effectiveness and Values Awards.

GMPI brought home four recognitions including a Gold award for its highly praised Christmas short film Hating Kapatid under the Family Oriented Brand category.

Created in partnership with Columbia Foods International for So Lucky Soda Crackers, Hating Kapatid effectively depicts the spirit of giving during the holidays through a story of two boys, who took turns wearing a worn down pair of shoes. Widely commended for its inspiring and heartwarming content, it previously won a Bronze Award at the 2012 Araw Values Awards and also gained international recognition with another Bronze Award at the prestigious Busan International Advertising Festival (Ad Stars) during the same year.

Meanwhile, two of GMA’s Kapuso Mine-Sine offerings, Aruga and Gustin respectively won a Silver and a Bronze Award in two separate categories. Aruga, a story about an inspiring relationship between a mother with a hearing impairment and her son, won in the Family Oriented Brand category. On the other hand, Gustin, based on the real-life story of a poor young boy who surrendered a bag filled with money to its owner, was recognized in the Advocacy category. Aruga was jointly produced with Unilab for Ceelin while Gustin was created together with Peerless Products Manufacturing Corporation for Champion Laundry Detergent.

The Kapuso Network also won a Bronze Award for its widely anticipated Christmas Short Films campaign in the Integrated Branded Content and Entertainment category. Over the last 7 years, GMA makes it a yearly tradition to touch and inspire Kapuso viewers through various relevant and inspirational short films, and this award certainly serves as a validation of such efforts.

Aside from gaining these recognitions, GMPI’s marketing campaigns have also generated much online buzz as seen in the thousands of page views, as well as positive feedback on various social media networks by both netizens and industry experts.

Star Actor's Alleged “Drunk” Performance

Star actor (SA) was invited to perform in a corporate event. SA is the hottest young actor performer today. He has risen to such popularity that girls swoon over him, and companies want him to perform for their events. Those who can afford SA's services, paying hundreds of thousands for a few songs is worth it. His mere presence is a sure crowd drawer. SA is getting big breaks left and right: huge chunk of endorsements, tv projects, shows here and abroad - such achievements surpassing even those of his relatives'.

A top official TO of the company had a picture taken with SA during the said corporate event. SA was only too privileged for the opportunity as TO belongs to the top management of the company. TO then posted their photo on the social networking site. There were some comments, as expected. TO reacted to a particular comment saying that SA was allegedly drunk when he performed before a crowd of 20,000.

Will the candid comment of TO go viral in a few days? Was SA really drunk? If so, how will SA's network and management handle this situation? How far will they go to reverse the issue and do damage control again?
