Summer is here, which means lots of fun in the sun. Lucky for us we live less the 5 minutes from Lake Lewisville and a “beach”. This was the second trip so far, the first was fun for Ian but Ollie in the other hand was not a fan. He hated everything, I hope it grows on him.

So two months out of the hospital and I can say for the most part I feel better then I have felt in my life. The longer I am in therapy. The more I am learning about myself and how to handle situations in the past that I would have blown up at. I can tell that the medication is working even if we have to tweak some things. I am lucky that my care team is awesome, going through the program I am going through I was worried. My fear was that I was going to get people who were burnt out and didn’t care. My psychiatrist said it best in my first appointment with him, “if he was in it for the money he would have a private practice, he is where he is at to help us.” I know that once my time is up, I will be referred to other doctors. That time is rapidly approaching and I am praying that I am as lucky this time. I finally asked my doctor what my official diagnosis is. I am still processing it also but with time I will share. I still haven’t shared what lead me to get help, I am still not there yet. I can say though that the first step admitting I need help was the hardest. I know that I am not really sharing much in this post outside f saying things are improving daily.

If you feel that you need help don’t be afraid to ask, there are systems in place to help. I have been extremely lucky that during this process I have seen how strong my support system is. I am so thankful for them, I am blessed to have great family and friends.

5 Years

Here we are five years later, as of Saturday. We got some crappy news that pretty much ruined our weekend. Luckily our marriage is not built on just happy times. We are lucky we have been blessed with two healthy, happy, mischievous boys. We are in a different place then where we 5 years ago, we are no loner blissful newly weds.

We have overcome many challenges in our short marriage If we can over come 6 layoffs. If we can overcome all the struggles that comes with those, we can overcome what is thrown at us. It hasn’t all been sunshine and rainbows, but what marriage is?

We are starting down a new road, one I am not quiet ready to share with you all. In time I will and I have no idea how it will change our marriage. I know though that if we can make it through the past 5 years, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.

Another Check On The List

I can now call my self a Soccer Mom, no the minivan is not next. I just can’t go that far. Ian has completed his firs season of Ankle biters soccer, I love the name of his age group. We had lots of ups and downs, some games he didn’t even play. He was there just preferred sitting on the sidelines.

I think we all learned something this spring season. Ian got exposed to kids his own age, even if he waasn’t always happy to be there. We learned that he plays better if I am not there.

His coach said that they will be coaching again in the fall and we can request them if we choose. I think we will, they were great with the kids.

Ian got his first trophy and he loves it. So my sports mom days are here, I know that it will a new adventure from here.

Idea Board

We are at a stand still on the master bedroom redo, more accurately we are lazy. It is time to sand and paint our dresser. We are stuck on what color to paint it, do we paint it a fun color or do we paint it to match our bed. It is a hand me down from Casey’s Parents. We also need to find knobs that we like, we do agree no brass. So instead of an update, I am going to share the inspirations I found on Pinterest.

The Duvet I feel in love with. There is a whole post behind how I tracked this down and found an identical one at less expensive retailer.

Those are the options I love most for above our bed? Which do you like best?The navy came from a canvas lampshade that has a navy border I got on clearance from Target last summer. The Robins Egg Blue from listening to the ladies on Twitter.

So how would you pain the dresser? We have a canvas print coming for a wall and a few other little tie togethers and then the big revel.

Heavy on my Heart- Tithing

Let me preface and say I am no expert.

This is just something that is extremely heavy on my heart. I want to give to my church. I know what I was taught to give. I don’t remember where I heard it growing up but the saying “Give till it hurts” is stuck in my head. Except the place we are at, sometimes even a small amount hurts. How do I make it where I can feel that I am giving yet not taking away from families needs?

So how do you feel about tithing? How do you determine how much you give?

Ian woke up acting as if he was still tired and after a few hours of meltdowns, no listening, and tears. Someone on twitter recommend taking a walk. So off we went. It was meant to be a short jaunt to the park not a 1/4 mile from our house. After we started I couldn’t think of stop that soon. We went to the park about a mile from our house.

We didn’t plan to go that far, I was wearing flip flops and all we have is a sit and stand stroller but it was nice and we all came back in a better mood.

Master Bedroom Pt. 2

So I told you last week about the first step in making our master bedroom an oasis and not just a catch all. It was just a small simple step but it gave me the drive I needed to start on the second part. I am the queen of starting and not finishing something, so I was amazed at my desire to get my room all put together.

This time it was a shelf with hooks to hang scarves from and to place all those nick nacks people give you. I was lucky enough my Mama had one in her storage unit that she said that I could have and paint.

So after some sanding, figuring out out the right brush, figuring out how to hang the posts. Wow the painting part was easy when I realized it didn’t have brackets to hang it with and I was going to have to go buy and then figure out how to put them on. Which I totally forgot to take a picture of my work there, to prove that I rocked the road block. I got those brackets installed and my awesome shelf up and all those nick nacks that had been down in my living room up on the shelf. If I do say so myself I love how it turned out.

Date Night Has Changed

From impromptu sushi with friends, nights on Northgate, randomly ending up at the tattoo parlor(truly it did happen), to oh my we are lucky enough to have a sitter (my mom so graciously volunteered). What do we do now? The thought of having alone time together stumps us, since we usually have to leave the house there goes the idea of a nice night in. Well this past Friday we were lucky enough to have a night together thanks to my my mom. So we started the night with a little dinner.

That part was easy to figure out, it was what to do with our selves after dinner that got us. We did have the time nor the money to see a movie(when did it start costing so much to see a movie). We then threw out the idea of grocery shopping sans kids but we weren’t really sure of what we did and didn’t need. I don’t know how my love of the dollar store came up in the conversation but it did and we were off to the dollar store.

When we pulled up in the parking lot and saw one of the discount hair cutting places, we both talked of our need for hair cuts. Seeing my chance, I walked in and bravely sat down(the last time I got a hair cut at a place like this, I lost a lot of hair and was given a hair cut I couldn’t handle). Not this time, I was blessed with the luck and got an amazingly trained stylist. Who had the knowledge to train the beast. Casey on the other hand, did not get his cut. He did go back on Sunday with a coupon and got his and Ian’s done.

So what a change from pre-kids/college days, what do you do to keep your Date Nights fun?
