Ohio has concealed carry reciprocity with New Mexico!

New Mexico is the 22nd state to reach a concealed carry reciprocity agreement with Ohio.

Here is a total listing of all states Ohio has reciprocity with.

Walmart Sources Illegal Wood?

Do you recall the raid on Gibson Guitars over supposedly illegal wood that even the original source country doesn’t deem is illegal but the federal government did? Recall that Martin Guitars uses the same woods for their guitars but didn’t get raided?

I found this report from 2007 that suggests that Walmart actually does sell woods that are illegal and are violating the same law that Gibson was raided for. This doesn’t appear to have yet earned Walmart a visit from the Feds.

An EIA survey found 66 different wood products being sold in Wal-mart that are made in Indonesia, where 73% of the logging is illegal, according to their own Forest Minister.
…wood in Wal-Mart’s products comes from some of the world’s hotspots of illegal logging, including the Russian Far East, Indonesia, and parts of Central and South America. As long as Wal-Mart continues to turn a blind eye to its wood sources, its customers are at risk of supporting criminal timber syndicates and forest habitat destruction through their purchase of basic home goods.

Who needs guns then? Well, hunters need guns for the sport. Some people need guns for their profession– law enforcement, security guards, people who transport cash from businesses to banks, etc., gang members, drug cartels, felons, robbers and those who, without a gun, could not do their jobs.

Criminals couldn’t do their jobs without their guns…

Date rape must not be “rape-rape” and it’s not as bad as a brutal rape… As a man, I’m confused. I thought all rape was a violation of a woman’s body and was a brutal thing. However, Joan is a woman so, like Whoopi “Rape-Rape” Goldberg, I presume she would know better than I.

Sheriff Says To Carry Your Firearms

Quite often I see pro-criminals talking about how the “police” of the nation want “insert gun control item”. I’ve spoke of it before [here and here].

Here is what I said the last time:

If you talk to police officers, like politically-oriented police chiefs, you just might find that they are opposed to citizens carrying firearms. However, if you talk to street cops, the people who actually deal with us, you’ll find that many, if not most, welcome and understand the value of the “armed citizen”. They understand that they can’t always be there and are tired of drawing chalk outlines around helpless dead citizens.

I’ve noticed that as often as pro-criminals talk about how law enforcement is against conceal carry, or some subset, I have never seen them post when law enforcement is clearly for it. Like this Sheriff on October 31st.

In light of an attempted rape of a woman at Milliken Park on Sunday, Sheriff Chuck Wright encouraged women to get concealed weapons permits.
“That would have fixed this,” Wright said. “Ladies, walk in groups. Get a concealed weapons permit. I don’t want you to go for the mace; I want you to go for the concealed weapons permit. Gun control to me is when you can get your barrel back on the target quick.”

Victims Are Not To Blame

Saying that “guns are stolen because their owners failed to take proper security precautions” is like blaming a woman for her own rape.

“She shouldn’t have dressed like that”.

“What was she doing in that neighborhood?”

Both are memes that should stop.

Corruption In The NYPD

As you probably already know, Mayor Bloomberg, of New York City, has long been involved in the business of others. If he isn’t paying for controversial stings in other states, he is lecturing other states on their energy choices.

Maybe he should be paying more attention to his own city.

Eight NYPD officers and one New Jersey corrections officer have been arrested on charges that they were running a gun-smuggling ring that trafficked more than $1 million in illegal weapons and stolen goods.

On top of that?

16 officers accused of abusing their authority by helping relatives and friends avoid paying traffic tickets.

Of course, at .066% of the entire New York police force, this is still less corruption than is found in Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

Preventing A Mass Shooting?

Just for the record, I don’t know of any pro-rights blogger or commenter who has said that “we need to carry guns to prevent a shooting”, on campus or anywhere else.

What I have heard said, from myself and others, is that every mass murderer, when confronted with an armed presence, has either been shot or shot themselves. The fact that armed citizens can be present at the time of shootings and can “lessen the damage” by taking out an active shooter before he has a change of doing more damage is something that I consider a positive. The other choice we have is to do nothing but allow law enforcement to arrive between 4 minutes and an hour later to take care of the situation.

If someone is actually interested in preventing the loss of life by gun violence, I would think they would want a shooter stopped sooner rather than later. Isn’t it interesting the commonality shared by both gun-control advocates and criminals in wanting law-abiding citizens to be disarmed? Maybe that’s why I call them pro-criminals.

National Ammo Day

November 19th is National Ammo Day. Started in 2004, it is in it’s 7th anniversary. Its stated goals?

The goal of National Ammo Day is to empty the ammunition from the shelves of your local gun store, sporting goods, or hardware store and put that ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens. Make your support of the Second Amendment known–by voting with your dollars!
There are an estimated 75 MILLION gun owners in the United States of America. If each gun owner or Second Amendment supporter buys 100 rounds of ammunition, that’s 7.5 BILLION rounds in the hands of law-abiding citizens!

It would be better to support your local gun shop by making your purchase there but, if not, a box store works. Just get out and buy some. Heck, use it to take a future gunnie shooting.
