Dan and I are both huge Pittsburgh sports fans (except Dan doesn’t like the Steelers, which we won’t get into), so we spent the second part of our conversation talking about our top 5 sports memories. Unfortunately, that Tuesday night Pirates game against the Expos didn’t make the list.

Since then he’s moved on to his next adventure in Osaka, Japan, but we had a chance to talk about where we’re from in western Pennsylvania before getting into his experience in the UAE. This first episode is mostly talking about Somerset and Pittsburgh, PA.

They’re from Pittsburgh, so we talked about the city, growing up there, some of the weird things we say, and what it’s been like to be a transplant in southern Florida. So, I recorded a great episode with a friend in November. When I got home, though, I realized I had lost all of the audio. Things got busy through the holidays and I haven’t had a chance to record a new episode.

However, I do have an episode to share with you that I recorded in March 2017 with my friend and pastor, Ben Robinson. We recorded this as a test podcast recording while we watched the opening day of March Madness in his basement. The conversation turned out pretty well, so I decided to share it with you.

Ben grew up on college campuses in Indiana and Spokane, WA. He spent some interesting adult years in Cairo, Egypt, which included the revolution in 2011. He and his wife Emily have lived in Tacoma since Ben was appointed pastor at our church, Urban Grace, in 2013.

Greetings! Episode 2 of the show was recorded in August 2018 with my good friend, Andie. She is from Spokane, WA, which we touch on a bit, but we spend most of our time discussing her trip on the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain; a walking trail typically done as a Catholic pilgrimage. She went with her dad in the summer of 2018 as a sort of buffer between the end of a Child Life Specialist internship and the beginning of her professional career in the field. Her trip sounded very rad to me, so I hope you agree!
