As some of you know, I belong to an online message board, Best of Boards (aka BoB) and we have an auction site on there. Our most successful seller on there is Candice, artist, creator, designer, manufacturer of Candejo's Creations. Candice started her business selling on the BoB auction 5 years ago! Candejo's Creations is having a 5th Anniversary Sale. You can read more about it on her blog. For my part, because I want to win one of her handcrafted clutches, I'm writing this post which includes the following review. :-)

Through the years, I have purchased from Candice purses, tons of purses.. sewn purses, felted purses, knitted purses... lots of purses. LOL Here is a couple of pictures of my gorgeous nieces from a birthday party a few years ago. These purses were purchased before the current CPSIA laws took effect. Sadly, Candice no longer makes kids items because of the moronic law (but that's another argument for another day). Luckily, these two girls were lucky enough to to enjoy their purses for many years... and look what the best thing for the purse is... and place to hold your pinata stash!

I've also bought from Candice lots of her Magic Slippers... and they do keep your feet warm. As a matter of fact, I need to go shopping soon and purchase some of them. One of the problems with our new home is the hardwood floors are sooo cold in the mornings. Even here in California!

Everything I've ever purchased I've been happy with and I love how she always ships everything right away. Great customer service is definitely something I look for in a seller when I'm purchasing online. I have met Candice a few times in person and she's a lot of fun and it s hows in her work!

Wire Wrapped Wine Charms

I first saw wire wrapped wine charms when an old friend of mine from BoB put some up on the BoB auction a couple of years ago. I loved the look of them! Since then I haven't ran across them and over the years have made some hear and there. I decided to take it up a notch and make some that were a little more high end with sterling silver and Swarovski Austrian Crystals. You can now find them listed under my website's Whimsical Collection.

I will be adding some wedding themed wine charms soon that will be featuring bride and groom wine charms for the bridal champagne flutes. I will be also offering a more affordable line that will be made with glass beads and art wire instead of the Swarovski Austrian Crystals.

In the meantime I have kicked off the Wine Charms category with my Whimsical & Sassy pair of wine charms. The sample charms shown in the pictures were made as a giveaway for Classy Sassy Girls Facebook Fan Page Promotion. Bayshore Beach Themed Charm Bracelet

My latest Whimsical Collection piece is a beached themed bracelet that I named after an avenue located in Long Beach, Bayshore. Its a popular avenue with a small beach that families like to take their little ones to in the Summertime. The avenue is even closed from 9am - 5pm to automobiles.

This bracelet is made with lead free, silver plated pewter charms and findings crafted here in California by Tierra Cast. It also features 5 Ocean Agate beads in various green, peach, brown and yellow hues and ten 4mm Swarovski(r) Austrian Crystal beads. The Swarovski crystals include Sun AB 2x, Crystal AB 2x (looks more green than clear!), Rose AB 2x and Citrone bicone beads. The Swarovski Austrian Crystals guarantee that this bracelet will sparkle on your wrist!

Madison's Graduation and Bonita Boutique

A few times this year it seemed a little touch and go, but Madison did manage to graduate from Middle School this year. Woohoo! Miss Maddie is my honorary niece, the daughter of my BFF, Angela. When Maddie saw me making some cute tutu's for my much younger nieces she asked if I could make her one for her graduation. Flattered that she asked I was happy to take on the task. She let me know that she wanted a longer black and hot pink one.

In early May we were browsing a few fellow Merchant Mom sites looking for a cute shirt for Maddie to wear that would compliment the tutu. One of the sites we were looking at, Bonita Boutique, had the cutest onesie with a zebra print "1" applique. Yes, I said onesie as in a baby outfit. :D I emailed, Camila one of the owners of Bonita Boutique to ask her if she would be able to make a youth t-shirt using the same style and to make it a 1o. BTW, the 10 stands for 20-10, not 10 years old. LOL Well, Camila saved the day and created the cutest shirt that I'm sure Maddie will be wearing until she outgrows it... then we may have to frame it. :-)

Enjoy the pictures. Oh, I forgot to mention that Miss Maddie preferred to have a lace overlay skirt over her tutu. I personally preferred it without, but I'm not the one who was wearing it.

We've Moved to Paradise & Lime Rikee Designs

As most of you know I recently moved for the first time in 18 years. I'm still not unpacked and hope to get the majority of that done before our housewarming party on July 4th. I was so excited by moving because for the first time in my life I ordered some "moving" cards. I didn't want some cards that I could pick up at Target... I wanted cute ones to help show my excitement. If I had time I might have went with creating my own, but I haven't had much in the way of time since I moved in April. So, instead I went with a creation by Lime Rikee Designs.

When I found out my friend, Barb was opening up her own personalized photocard business, I took a look hoping to find some "we've moved" cards. Sure enough I found a Moving subcategory and picked out my favorite one: Moved to Paradise. I picked out my selections (I went with the pebble texture (love it!) and adding my information. Within hours, Barb had emailed me my proof and within days I had my beautiful cards within my hands!!

I started (finally!) passing them out at my birthday celebration last week end (figured I would save a little on postage :-) and I have been getting compliments left and right. Everyone loves them!!

If you are in need of your own custom photocards or invititations I highly recommend Lime Rikee Designs. Maybe next year I'll have a birthday party here at home and use them to make my birthday invitations.

Been Busy...

Wow! Its been awhile since I last posted on this blog. I need to stop neglecting it so much. I opened up my site, whimsicalcharms.com to wholesaling last April and have been busy fulfilling some larger orders. Don't worry, I still love every order my site receives, big or small. I thought I would share a few pictures of the order that I just mailed off yesterday. Yay! I actually took the time to take some pictures. This order was for a total of 56 various charms. My client bought a selection of Scrabble tile, glass, and bottle cap charms. She also purchased a few of my .995 handstamped charms that I currently do not have available to the public, but it is coming soon. I just need to have the time to put the collection up on the site. Its hard to imagine how much work goes into running a website. Some days it could be little overwhelming, but since its a labor of love... it makes it all worth it!

Earrings Earrings Earrings...

Here are some new earrings that I have been working on this week. First up is a pair of earrings made with abalone and lava beads that I accented with sterling silver and a 4mm Swarovski Austrian Crystal.

I then used the lava beads and wire wrapped with sterling silver three 4mm Swarovski Austrian Crystal in Amethyst. Taking it one step further I also have added the option to add on one 6mm Swarovski Austrian Crystal as well.

My favorite earring design of the week is the addition of my Whimsical Earrings to match the rest of the collection. If you want to take it up a step I have the Whimsical Earrings Deluxe that includes an extra five 4mm crystals to give it a little more funk! Isn't the Swarovski Austrian Crystal AB butterfly just gorgeous? This collection just makes me smile. :-)

N is for Noemi

I needed to make someone special for my wonderful assistant (from my day job, Super Mex Catering), Noemi. Without her, I don't know what I would do. I also had a request to come up with something different for earrings... well, I'm all for killing two birds with one stone (as long as they don't hurt a live bird LOL).

These gorgeous flower earring earrings is what I came up with. I think they are so pretty. The other pictures are to show how the look changes with by using different Swarovski Austrian Crystal colors in the center. Besides the Austrian Crystal the earrings were made with sterling silver and German glass beads for the flower petals.

For Noemi I also made her the dragonfly scrabble pendant. Like me, Noemi's favorite insect is a dragonfly... so, of course, she loved it! ... or at least she told me that she loved it. LOL To accent the scrabble tile pendant I made a complimentary charm out of sterling silver, Swarovski Austrian Crystals (Crystal 2 x AB and Rose). I love this so much, I might have to make one for me! :-)

I then packaged it in a cute favor tin with crinkle shred and a Whimsical Charms label on the bottom.

Whimsical Spring Bracelet

I've been working hard on trying to get my new website up and running by the end of January. I still have a lot of work to do, but it is finally taking shape! Busy Couple of Weeks

I had fun this past week end learning to make PMC (Precious Metal Clay) jewelry. Once "fired" the PMC ends up being 99.9% Fine Silver. Here are a few pictures of what I made. I had the most trouble with the butterfly pendant. But I really love how the daisy pendant came out and I'm already wearing mine and Leighton's thumbprints. Look how much bigger his thumbprint is than mine! The Swarovski Austrian Crystals are made with our birthstones, Crystal and Alexandrite (aka Light Amethyst). The chain and other findings are sterling silver. I can't wait to start offering Fingerprint / Pawprint jewelry in my store. Coming soon....
