French Garden-Inspired Wedding Shoot at Ridgeland Mansion

Gilded Pear Wedding Cake

When Nicole of Rabbit Rabbit Crew contacted us about being a part of their French Garden-inspired wedding shoot, we were all in. Zoë designed a rustic iced buttercream cake with an extra-tall base tier and mini cakes that incorporated a detailed tile pattern and gold leaf on the top. The main cake was adorned with jewel tone, gold-edged dried pears. The cakes had a balance of rustic and chic that we think worked perfectly in the lush outdoor setting of Ridgeland Mansion. See more of this gorgeous shoot posted on 100 Layer Cake!

Customer Pics: Smash Cake Cuteness

Whipped Bakeshop Smash Cake

One of our customers sent us the nicest note and photos of her son's first birthday smash cake the other day. Kaia said: "The cake and the cupcake were a hit! Our guests have been raving and we have been indulging with all the leftovers. Thank you so much for making our party a success."

Thanks so much Kaia! Theo is THE CUTEST EVER.

Sweet Treats for Smoochie Paper

Whipped Bakeshop Cake for Smoochie Paper

Last night, we had the honor of catering desserts for our friends at Smoochie Paper, who were throwing a party to celebrate their three-year anniversary. Smoochie founder Patty Tawadros and her talented team create custom, luxury wedding invitations and everything else from save the dates to table numbers, signage, thank you cards, and more. They do amazing work!

We brought a unique crushed meringue cake, cute little vanilla/strawberry minis and some adorable macaron packages for their gift bags. People were really loving the look and flavor of the cake, which is a brand new Whipped Bakeshop design. It was so fun to meet all the amazing wedding vendors at the party who were there to help celebrate the anniversary.

The flowers you see in the photos below were from our new friends at Egan Rittenhouse

Congratulations Smoochie Paper!

Sewing-themed Cookies for Madalynne

Vintage Sewing-themed cookies

I first met Maddie Flanigan in early 2016 at a BHLDN press event where she was taking photographs—one of her many talents. She very kindly offered me some helpful styling tips for photography at Whipped Bakeshop, which I eagerly accepted. Shortly thereafter, I learned what an incredibly gifted entrepreneur and maker Maddie is.

Her company Madalynne is truly inspiring. Maddie makes and sells lingerie, and offers workshops and kits so that you can learn how to do the same. An exclusive line of Madalynne intimates was also launched through Urban Outfitters online and in retail stores in April 2016, which she cites as one of her biggest accomplishments.

I was really excited to team up with Maddie to make some extra-special cookies to celebrate her newest three patterns with Simplicity, as well as her "Let's Talk Bras" event with Brooklyn Craft Company on July 20. This is a free event, and it looks like there are still a few spots open (you still need to RSVP to attend). If I was in Brooklyn, I'd be there for sure - advice from experts, tasty nibbles, and a room full of inspiring people- YES please!

Concept Cake & Cookies: Undersea Wedding

Undersea wedding cake by Whipped Bakeshop

This past week, I was painting a watercolor postcard to send to my brother, and it started to take on an undersea vibe that I liked. Brennen said it might look good as a cake, so went ahead and made the 360-degree wedding cake you see here. It took a bit of trial and error to decide on the final look of the top and base tiers, but I like the finished result. Below, you can see the inspiration, other views of the cake, and some matching cookies that I painted. Hope you like it!
