My favorite trash-pop trio Girlfriends has a new 7” single due out in the spring, which is conveniently available digitally right now via The Ampeater Review.

Here’s the A-side, a slowed down and spit-polished version of “Good To Be True,” which just happens to be my favorite track from their S/T cassette. Head over to The Ampeater Review to download it with the B-Side, a cover of the quick and fun Vaselines tune “The Day I Was A Horse.”

The physical 7” is due out this spring via Aurora7Records. The gang will be hitting the road in July and August for a US tour. I’ll post more deetz on both of those when they come my way. And seriously, do yourself a favor and pick up their cassette if you haven’t yet. It won’t leave your sony sports Walkman for weeks, I promise you.

This righteous video from Orlando’s Attachedhands is for their new jam “Shape/Mode,” which will be available on Post-Records’ Fucking Friends Forever compilation coming out in April via iTunes and other reputable digital download sites.

They’ve got a cassingle (Versatility Of Movement) you can pick up for a few dollars over at Post’s site, and are dropping a 7” split with personal favorites Truman Peyote in June via - you guessed it - Post-Records again.

The ever-so-wonderful Emily Reo sent me another new track today, the hypnotic and hazy “Blue Canoe.” It might just be my favorite of hers yet.

Emily is currently hard at work writing and recording new material for her next release. She will also have a new jam for everyone (including myself) to gush over on the upcoming WGWB Volume 2 compilation. Get excited.

Also, for those in the Florida-ish area, Emily and a whole mess of amazing people will be performing March 27th at Total Bummer, a weekend-long festival in Gainesville that has me wishing I wasn’t a New Englander. If you are in the area or looking for a post-sxsw spillover you cannot go wrong.

Ben, aka Hooray!, sent me over this track today. It’s the first single and title track from his forthcoming daydreamm EP.

It’s atmospheric and soothing, complete with babbling brook / waterfall droplets escaping from a haze of reverb drenched oohs+aahs. A truly-fine winding down jam. Top notch, really.

Check out his space for another track, “World @ Large,” which is fittingly labeled as the ‘sleep version.’

With airy synthesizers and an oh-so-infectious back beat, this jam just doesn’t quit. I honestly haven’t stopped listening to it since I first hit the play button what feels like forever ago.

DOM posted not one, but two excellent new tracks today. One jam comes via The FADER and the other a free gift via their myspace.

“Burn Bridges” is probably the most feel-good track they have produced (which is saying a lot), while “Crzy Gurl” (the myspace jam) is a bit hazier and leans heavy on a B-52’s vibe (in a good way).

Elsewhere:

PPALMM dropped two new tracks via his myspace today that are extraordinary. Hop on over and give them a listen right this instant and just try and resist “New Nostalgia’s” charms, I dare ya.

mp3: The Points North - Nut Island

A bit of cold and haunting northern folk from Boston’s The Points North on a cold and dreary day.

Their first album - I Saw Across The Sound - was sent to me a little while back, and somehow I just missed it in the shuffle (sorry guys). The Points North break out a wide array of instrumentation throughout their debut. Flutes, mandolins, accordions and plenty of vocal harmonization all swirl together beautifully and have a knack for sending a lil’ chill down your spine.

The band has spent the last two months in Victoria, Australia of all places touring and recording their forthcoming sophomore album, one that I’m eagerly anticipating.

In the meantime you can pick up their debut, I Saw Across The Sound, via Grinding Tapes on glorious 12” vinyl.

The hits just keep coming from Breakfast of Champs. They sent me over a sneak peak of The Craters new cassette Teenage High School today. It’s picture-perfect toe-tap-inducing bedroom pop, with my favorite track being the aptly titled “Cool Enough For School.”

You can order the cassette via BoC (fresh off the press today) for a measly $6. The Truman Peyote/Turtle Ambulance 7” should be out real soon too, really can’t stress how essential grabbing that is enough, either.

This number, “Anthony Naples,” rounds out an album that masterfully blends in bits of samples with live arrangements. It’s overflowing with energy, driving music when for when you are too busy admiring the sky to notice you’re cruising 20 over the limit.
