Fig Blueberry Crisp Recipe

The figs and berries on the counter were begging to be eaten and the most edible answer we could think of was making our favorite crisp and filling it with luscious figs and blueberries. For an even bigger treat, we made some tangy, sweet goat cheese whipped cream to take it over the top. Guess what? we got lucky and this recipe was a surprise hit. The bomb. The Best. Amazing. You must make this! If you don’t have as many figs as the recipe calls for then no worries. You can always use more blueberries or even substitute other berries. But as long as you have a handful of ripe figs, the flavor will be fantastic from the sticky sweet flavors of Summer figs.

What Does a Fig Crisp Taste Like?

This wonderful crisp is sticky, concentrated with naturally sweet fig and blueberry flavor, so a little bit goes a long way. If you’re already a fan of figs, you’ll love the familiar stick sweet flavors and the little nuggets of crunchy seeds in each bite. Cost of figs can be costly, so you don’t have to break the bank buying a ton of figs. Just use a smaller baking dish, like a 6″ ramekin or  quart baking dish. Whatever size fits a nice layer for the amount of figs and blueberries you are using. Like we mentioned above, you can always use more blueberries or other berries if you have less figs. Each bite of this sticky fig and blueberry crisp will leave you screaming out for Summer to never end!

Can you really air fry a tenderloin?

Absolutely yes! The air fryer is just perfect for cooking a tenderloin. The outside crust is wonderful because of the air fryer. We’ve tested this in the oven too but the air fryer really cooks it quicker, hotter and it’s so convenient.

Can you freeze fresh whole peaches?

Yes, and why not? Freezing chopped fruit is a standard practice. From frozen berries to stone fruit and to pineapple, this method of preserving fruit is everywhere. But freezing a whole peach might not seem practical because biting or cutting a whole peach would be difficult. Now grating a frozen peach is very possible and the texture that you get from it is fantastic. You grate the peach as if you were to grate a block of cheese. It’s like shaved peach strands that are cool, fluffy and delicious. Basically like shaved ice, but way tastier! You don’t even have to peel the peaches. The peel adds a sprinkle of color to the treat and doesn’t affect the texture.

Sriracha Cult

Twitter got me into some trouble. Last week, I innocently twittered a photograph of some Vietnamese condiments for a Viet Nhậu (tapas) party we were having for one of our Supper Club Dinners. In that picture, there were some yummy, traditional Vietnamese toppings of scallion oil confit, fried crispy shallots and many more goodies I prepared for the evenings feast. But I never thought a simple Twitter mention of “homemade sriracha hot sauce” would cause such a commotion, create incessant demands for the recipe, and getting all the love and attention over the other toppings. I knew Sriracha style hot sauce was popular, but a cult following? Never. So yes, that’s what I’ll call it from now on, Cult Sriracha.

What is Sriracha?

When I first made this sauce a while back in 2009, I asked myself: What makes Huy Fong’s Sriracha, aka rooster sauce, this ubiquitous Asian, cock-labeled chili sauce so popular? Well, to start the term Sriracha originated in Thailand and is named after a town that become popular after a local woman made a bright and popular hot sauce. It was an adaptation from a classic Chinese hot sauce with garlic and red jalapeno peppers. Now, it’s become a world wide popular chili condiment in a squirt bottle. There’s a gazillion different brands out there on the market. But I myself, can confess to squeezing the dickens out of this bottle of orange/reddish gold goodness. It’s like a prized commodity when it hits the palate and gives incredible sensations of heat, sweet and tang. Sriracha has the perfect balance of all flavors: delicate spice combined with sweet and garlicky tangy undertones that make it perfect in almost any dish.

This popular condiment has so many names, but essentially it’s a crunchy, flavorful and spicy condiment originally served in Asian restaurants. It’s become a world wide popular condiment now and we have a homemade version that you can make. It’s easy to customize the levels of spicy that you want. What is Chili Crunch Fried Egg?

It’s two of our favorite foods together: our homemade chili crunch oil topped on fried eggs. The crunchy textures of the condiment on top of egg is fantastic. It’s so simple to make and quick to put together. It’s perfect for morning breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Add the fried egg on top of rice or noodles for dinner and you have a quick and flavorful meal in minutes. There’s so many ways to enjoy this chili oil fried egg!

Easy Grilled Avocado Salad Recipe

We’ve been here for the week working with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts on some new video stories, recipes and photos to share with you all. This grilled avocado salad with corn pico de gallo is out-of-this-world amazing, filled with crisp lettuce, smoky avocado and bright pico de gallo, all topped with a fresh chimichurri dressing.  It’s like the worlds perfect salad all in one bite with Mexican flavors we all adore. We couldn’t wait to share it with you all and really, wanted to share it NOW, like impatient eaters who haven’t eaten for days. Date night cooking corn fritters

Gosh, it’s been over 28 years of being together and cooking together. When we think of the numbers, it seems like long ago but then again it doesn’t. It’s fun to look back at some of our first moments together in photographs, time definitely shows how much we’ve aged. But the memories together in the kitchen seem like just yesterday and so does this sweet corn fritters recipe. It’s one of the first meals we cooked together back in 1996 for a number of reasons.  Corn was inexpensive and it was easy to make.
