A Message from Russ Smithson, GM and coach of the WR Tritons

The Tritons are extremely excited about their new partnership with the WRSSBA.

I certainly see the potential for both parties to work together to continue to improve the
caliber of baseball in the White Rock and South Surrey areas. With the Tritons assisting with
the Bantam AAA program, the hope is to build familiarity with the caliber of coaching and to
develop our younger players for an easier transition into the Junior PBL

Coaching Qualifications for BC Minor Baseball

Mosquito A, AA, AAA & Pee Wee A & Bantam A & Midget AA

One coach must hold "Regional Coach Trained" status. All other coaches must be "Initiation Trained" status.

Pee Wee AA, AAA & Bantam AA, AAA & Midget AAA

All coaches must have "Regional Coach Trained" status

The information concerning Coaches Certification can be found under Rule 9 in the BC Minor Baseball Rule Book.

In order for us to field teams in the Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget age groups it is imperative we have qualified coaches. If anyone would like to coach and does not have the necessary qualifications they should make arrangements to acquire the necessary certifications forthwith. We have been notified that "Big League Experience" is offering a certification program on 25/26 February 2012 in Tsawwassen. The whole program can be completed in one weekend rather then in a four day, one month program.

Bantam AAA Coaches Selected

WRSSBA is very pleased to announce the selection of Jordan Broatch as Head Coach and Shayne Wilson as Assistant Coach of the 2012 Bantam AAA team. These two long-time baseball players and baseball enthusiasts are looking forward to building and incorporating a college based practice plan for our association’s younger elite baseball athletes. Jordan and Shayne will focus on player development, with particular emphasis on improving the individuals’ fundamental skills along with their physical conditioning, which will allow the team to execute intelligent decisions in both the offensive and defensive parts of the game. Their fresh approach to practising and athletic development will allow our young players to prosper, which will make way for an easier transition into elite levels of competitive baseball.

BC Challenger Baseball

BC Challenger Baseball is back for it's second season in White Rock/South Surrey! Challenger baseball gives kids, ages 5-18, with cognitive or physical disabilities the opportunity to play the game of baseball in a fun and safe environment. Players are paired up with able-bodied buddies, teens aged 13+, who help them play the game by pushing wheelchairs, running bases, and helping their player enjoy the game and stay safe. Challenger baseball is all about fun!

Please email paige.madison@hotmail.com for more information about registering your child, signing up a buddy, or becoming a volunteer!
