National Transportation Safety Board to Ban Cell Phone Use for Commercial Truck and Bus Drivers

The National Transportation Safety Board recently issued a proposal to ban truck drivers from use of both handheld and hands-free cellular telephones, except in cases of emergencies. This important trucking proposal came in the wake of an accident investigation in which the NTSB confirmed that a truck driver, Kenneth Laymon, was on the phone when he caused a crash that killed 11 people on a Kentucky interstate in 2010.
