ATATÜRK’ün Bursa Nutku

Şubat 1933′te Bursa Ulucami’de toplanan 100 kadar irticacı camilerde Türkçe ezan okunmasına karşı bir ayaklanma girişiminde bulunurlar. Ayaklanma kısa sürede bastırılır. Atatürk Bursa’ya gider. Çekirge yolu üzerinde bulunan bir köşkte akşam yemeği yenildiği sırasında bir kişi Atatürk’e ayaklanmayla ilgili olarak şöyle diyecek olur: “Bursa gençliği olayı hemen bastıracaktı, fakat zabıta ve adliyeye olan güveninden ötürü…” Atatürk hemen konuşmakta olan kişinin sözünü keser ve aşağıdaki konuşmayı yapar:

“Türk Genci, devrimlerin ve cumhuriyetin sahibi ve bekçisidir. Bunların gereğine, doğruluğuna herkesten çok inanmıştır. Yönetim biçimini ve devrimleri benimsemiştir. Bunları güçsüz düşürecek en küçük ya da en büyük bir kıpırtı ve bir davranış duydu mu, “Bu ülkenin polisi vardır, jandarması vardır, ordusu vardır, adalet örgütü vardır” demeyecektir. Elle, taşla, sopa ve silahla; nesi varsa onunla kendi yapıtını koruyacaktır.

Polis gelecek, asıl suçluları bırakıp, suçlu diye onu yakalayacaktır. Genç, “Polis henüz devrim ve cumhuriyetin polisi değildir” diye düşünecek, ama hiç bir zaman yalvarmayacaktır. Mahkeme onu yargılayacaktır. Yine düşünecek, “demek adalet örgütünü de düzeltmek, yönetim biçimine göre düzenlemek gerek”

Onu hapse atacaklar. Yasal yollarla karşı çıkışlarda bulunmakla birlikte bana, başbakana ve meclise telgraflar yağdırıp, haksız ve suçsuz olduğu için salıverilmesine çalışılmasını, kayrılmasını istemeyecek. Diyecek ki, “ben inanç ve kanaatimin gereğini yaptım. Araya girişimde ve eylemimde haklıyım. Eğer buraya haksız olarak gelmişsem, bu haksızlığı ortaya koyan neden ve etkenleri düzeltmek de benim görevimdir.”

After Dr.Whohoo I attended Chris Orwig's session called ' the art and craft and photographic impact' He had this quote from Rodney Smith which I really liked: 'Still of hand does not make up for the emptiness of heart'. Which in this case the still of hand refers to the position that the camera holder has. He also had a quote from Picasso "The chief enemy of creativity is common sense!"
He suggested to get your work space exciting, and having the gear you need. which is actually any gear that you own. he said: your gear is good enough what ever it is just go out and do something! Ametours always have more gear than Pros:)
As most of the designers, I myself feel that my work is never good enough, even when it goes online I feel there is alot more to do, which sometimes can be frustrating. But Chris said that it is a good thing, that is how you keep doing things and getting better. He stated that photography is most impactal and purest form of communication. 'Photography is saving life at one hundreth of a second' he quoted from Marc Riboud. He said that photography is loke poetry; what a novelist says in 20000 wors a poet says in 20. Of course which does not mean that the novels and poems are the same thing; this actually was said to suggest to reduce, simplfy and deepen the work. The important question is to ask 'how do I communicate something' Be keen on literature, great literature makes you think and feel two conflicting things at the same time.(quote from Sir William Empson?) Photograpy is an art of observation. It is much more like archery than a rifle... you have to calculate rather than just to hit and get done. (he is not into hunting or anything it is just a metaphor:)) )
In the end he came to this point, when doing something like a wall: you could do brick work as a laborer or as an artisan; which is the same thing with coding and design. The choice is yours which do you choose to be?
Also he gave this intersting fact about horses: if 1 horse can pull 1 unit of something; 2 horses can pull 13 units of the same material. TEAM WORK guys! team work!
eheheh and i loved this example that he gave: 'say i am holding a water bottle and i am at a barbeque party when i see my friend i go say hi etc. now imagine that bottle was a water baloon...then all my friends turn out to be targets and i try to choose which one I should hit first:) Which is the same when I have my camera everything, every light every shadow, object turns to a target rather than just being there. ' he had many other works showed explained and a lot more to say...But I liked this in the end 'once you begin to work the road appears', so start doing somethng and it will show you the way!

The Final session before the inspired session was the legend: Erik Natzke! I called him the legend cause I just love his work. And just like all the FOTB speakers he was very modest, these people are the best of what they do and they are really modest... His speech I mostly listened like a fairy tale:) so I will have very brief notes, but just like my other summaries, all the speakers mentioned a lot more and deeper of the issues that I am writing here these are just small summaries...
At Flash on the Beach 2008, Erik Natzke said 'We are not passive observers, it is not what we see but HOW we see it' This is his site you must see his work from here. Also check out his play site! His speech was just great, it was energetic and like i said like a dream:) sorry not too much links this time:) But it was a fabolous and inspiring session to sum up:)

At the evening there was James Paterson's inspired session with a free beer:) I love the concept of these inspired sessions: you dont bring anything! no pen, no paper, no camera, nothing! just sit back and get INSPIRED! And you reaaaalllyyy get inspired....

It is amazing, his work is great I mean... The sound was done by HECQ and it is really good too...the music and the motion really completes each other , really nice work.

FOTB CHRONICLES- DAY 1

My intention to make these chronicles are for people who couldnt make it here actually, but since this is my very first experience EVER at a conference regarding my business/job, I know I am missing a lot on summarizing it all here. But I just want to share my anticipation, my excitement to all the designers out there. Because being here really widened my vision, and just by telling a little I am wishing to help that to happen to all the designers who are out there. Before this conference I always said, I am an interactive designer this interactive world is a limitless world, and now I realize, even the world I called “limitless” had limits and now I see a new limitlessness which is way more than what I imagined to be limitless.
Well back to the sessions and speaches
On Monday 9AM, Adobe had a session about their CS4 relase and Adobe AIR. They are great, GREAT features in the new Flash, I must say. Like adding bone stucture to 2d objects, and z axis! Also those of you guys who can think they know how to make a tween in Flash actually dont know it becase it has become something else and waaaay much easier and better! And the text engine is really fascinating. The dynamic audio features, sound buffers, pixel benders, filters,( filters are more and more) will fascinate you! Also now you can do a search in Flash Library which made me say “well, finally!” Also Flash will support new drawing APIs and videos will be able to be distorted live on the mesh... and a lot more. CS4 really excited me!
Adobe AIR- also had really cool desktop applications especially the “come out and play” app. For the SUN by Glue London.
The Adobe session was by Richard Galvan.

Then I have attended Carlos Ulluoa’s session to see if he really excits:) since he is one my hero guys. well he is real that I can say. He mainly talked about his racing car projects, the diffuculties he had gone through and what to be careful about when doing PV3D, like the polygon count... you would not want to end up with something that has 3222 polygons....He talked about buying models which is not my interest at all since I am the “modeller” person, who wants to do the 3D more than the coding itself. But here are some of the keywords for you guys who are intersted: when buying 3d models look for, low poly, game ready, 3d object format.
He also suggested Ralph Hauwert ‘s work for shaders examples. And gave clues about envoirement mapping, use spherical envoirement mapping one for the front and one for the back. For reflections use Phong Shader, and in your envoirement mapping you can do a studio lighting example in 3d and get that. When one wants to do a really good looking 3d with PV3D, he actually can slow down the interaction process. Always take that into account and keep the importance of interaction in mind. When doing projects like these(car racing project for example) take reality as reference. He actually got into physics, Physics of Racing by Brian Beckman to achieve what he wanted to get. He gave a detailed example and information about the cameras in PV3d. And showed how he used splines exported from 3d interfaces. He mentioned many important things actually I have a really REALLY though summary here, there is a LOT more to what I have mentioned here actually.

After Carlos, I attended Dr.Whohoo’s session and really enjoyed the print and the motion works that he did. Also how he had this idea about integrating photoshop, flash, flex etc through the Adobe Extend Script Tool Kit. And he and Adobe are working on the Adobe Patch Panel, these days which has really cool features. He had many projects about creating color palletes, and image analyzing. His final motion graphics video was romantic in a way and relaxing but the idea and the code behind it and thinking how he achieved that kept me out of the romanticsm. He suggested the book: Digital Art Studio, which I should definetly get while I am over here! This is a rough summary to what he showed; but again, there is a lot lot and lots more in his presentation...my summaries cover only a small part of what has been said... to be contiued:)

FOTB super bir olay herşeyi ile hem de. ama şu an ben napıyormuşum aman tanrım neler yapabilirmişim neler yapmıyormuşum diye haykırtıyor beni. bu nedenle biraz içim buruk, kalbim tutuk... napıcagımı bilemez haldeyim:) arabeskim, dertliyim ulan dertliyim! Nasıl yazılacak o kodlar nasıl tutulacak maya modellerine scriptler animasyonlar? sonra onları Papervisionlara atmalar... başlamak lazım acilen, yavaş yavaş yürümek...

DAY_0 // Sunday 28th

Well, my very first FOTB! And my very first day... I am writing this at the end of the 1st day in FOTB, and I can easily say it definitely changed my vision in how I look at the things, and made me say again and again over and over “boy, I love my job!”
So day zero was on Sunday, and it had two choices of workshops actionscript 3.0 for designers and papervision 3d. As a designer, I did not choose the actionscript 3.0 for I have this crazy passion about PV3D. Here are some quotes and my personal sum up from the PV3D course by Ralph Hauwert.

Before getting into any papervision 3d stuff, please remember to KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid! And make understandble concepts which are easy to pick up!
The rest of the course was mainly about all the PV3d courses from basic to a little advanced/intermediate. Exporting models, colladas, DAE formats, textures is now sooo much easier for me. And in his session he had this “history” part which was fascinating, it started with Luxo JR, and the really important people for us like: John Warnock, John Lasseter and Edwin Catmull. Of course also George Lucas, Steve Jobs.... and I realized what is going on with papervision 3D, as Ralph pointed out all the problems animation/ animating 3D had to go through back in those days, PV3D is going through it now. Which are character building as in face and expressions(because Pv3d has to be low poly it is hard to achieve) what was Pixar’s solution to this back when they had the same problem? Well Luxo didnt have a face! The other problem is speed, to hear that Luxo was rendered in 1 year shocked me! And raytracing was not feaseble until the Toy Story movie.... enter Moore’s Law. The other problem was/is tools and workflow. For the rendering process Pixar built Renderman for their problem, which is not yet in flash but will be.
His workshop was great, and even as a designer I did not feel left out about the coding part and had a pretty clear idea about PV3D. He went into many techiniques about shading, rendering to textures, camera movements and coding, animation exports, frustum cameras, materials, bump mapping, movieclip interactivty etc. He also helped us make a project from scratch which was pretty cool to see that what you have learned ends up in a result.

Bu maceram artık katlanma limitlerimin üst boyutlarında. 444 166 yı arıyorum arada bi, eğer uyuyamıyorsam masal dinlemek icin. Masal Hattı. En son maceramda bu hattı aradım, ve dinlediğim hikaye Oğuz Baba'nın Türk ve imanlı olduğu için Vayyy aman aman ne kadar da başarılı olduğu idi. 2 akşam önce yine aradım Buket diye bir salağın dandik maceralarını dinlerken (ve macerada şu: öğretmeni Buket'e ödev veriyor. Babası da ona yardım ediyor-evet sadece bu)arada ilahi çaldı yaaaa. İlahi bildiğin ilahi. Ki ben ilahileri severim. Ama Allah aşkına yaa, masal dinlemek için aramışım bennnnn!!!!!!!!!!???!!!!!!
