I was was reading Luke 18 today and it struck me how the Blind man was so willing to cry out and he really didn’t care what people think. I think we need to learn a lesson from the blind man and that is to not give up and to be bold in our faith.

The blind man cried out twice and did not just let Jesus pass by him. Even though he was told to be quiet he kept going….

We have little because we ask little…

We need to have faith; BOLD and RADICAL faith…

Faith that can move mountains and change situation. I am confident that the Lord wants to help everyone who is in need and with issues, illnesses and general struggles. But Im sure the Lord is waiting for us to cry out.

Are you willing to cry out to receive change in your life! I am and want to stand with you in this also..

Have faith – Cry out!

A Blind Beggar Receives His Sight

35 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
38 He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

40 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”

“Lord, I want to see,” he replied.

42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” 43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

Overcoming fear!

This blog post is taken from our church weekly bulletin!

It has helped me so much. Thank you Lord for using Peter and Victoria Jones to bless so many!

Read these verses… And hold tight to them. Hold them close to your heart!

Deuteronomy 1:21
See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Joshua 10:25
Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the Lord will do to all the enemies you are going to fight.”

Psalm 56:4
In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me ?

Isaiah 12:2
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.”

Jeremiah 42:11
Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you now fear. Do not be afraid of him, declares the Lord, for I am with you and will save you and deliver you from his hands.

Daniel 10:12
Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.

Zechariah 8:15
“so now I have determined to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid.”

Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Luke 12:32
“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.”

Revelation 1:17
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.”

Fear robs us of life, and stops us stepping into our destiny. Take a moment to answer this big question…
If I were 10 times bolder, what would my life look like ?
The difference between what our lives look like and what they would look like without fear is the measure of life that fear is robbing us off. Take some time to pray on your own for boldness and greater courage to live without fear.

So today I woke up and within a few minutes I was thinking about all the things that I have to get done. Ref a rugby match, write 150 Reports, fix my bike, go shopping etc.

I then had to stop and consciously say no I’m not going to think about organising that but actually do my quiet time.

This morning whilst reading www.odb.org something jumped out at me. The start of vers 39 says. “Know this well, then. Take it to heart right now: God is in Heaven above; God is on Earth below.” “Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below.” “Know, recognize, and understand therefore this day and turn your [mind and] heart to it that the Lord is God in the heavens above and upon the earth beneath; there is no other.”

My thought to ponder on for the day is how well do we “Acknowledge” ”Know this well” “Know, recognize, and understand” That God is in control and that he is above ALL. Does our mind stay fixed on him or on our own busy lives and worries? Mostly that latter if we are honest. I would say we need to get into a habit of Acknowledging that God is so much bigger and better than all that we think is important.

How do we do this? Well read on! It says “Take it to heart right now” I think that we sometimes say ok well thats ok for you but my situation is tough i’ll take heart later. NO take heart now. Understand God wants to hel you now not tomorrow or next week. Then Live by his commands be obedient to him.Keep his decrees. Do you best to live a pure a blameless life as christ has done.

Why Because the reward is great. “so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD your God gives you for all time.” God wants it to Go well with us. Its a lie of the Devil that he doesn’t want us to succeed. Its interesting its not just a short lived promise but something that goes on for generations and generations. God is with us for the long distance the long haul the Marathon not just the trip round the corner or the 100M Sprint.

Deuteronomy 4:32-40

39-40 Know this well, then. Take it to heart right now: God is in Heaven above; God is on Earth below. He’s the only God there is. Obediently live by his rules and commands which I’m giving you today so that you’ll live well and your children after you—oh, you’ll live a long time in the land that God, your God, is giving you.

The Message

39 Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. 40 Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD your God gives you for all time.

The NIV

39Know, recognize, and understand therefore this day and turn your [mind and] heart to it that the Lord is God in the heavens above and upon the earth beneath; there is no other.

40Therefore you shall keep His statutes and His commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may prolong your days in the land which the Lord your God gives you forever.

Amplified Bible (AMP)

Be blessed as you read the scriptures and let me know your thoughts. If you have any questions then please do ask. I want to say that I’m not perfect in doing the above but I do my best. So i encourage you to do your best at remembering his truths and Acknowledging that he is Above ALL.

A bible study Luke 11 – 14-27

Jesus knows out thoughts full stop we can’t hide them and we can’t pretend or hide from God. So when Jesus healed the mute man there where still some that opposed him. He knew what they where thinking.

If any kingdom is divided against itself it will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fail.

If we are in dispute or fighting one another there is no way there will be forward ground made for the kingdom of God. Families also need to be in unity otherwise they will fail. Truth!

Satan is not against Satan there is no such thing as good and bad evil verse 18 sort of states that it’s quite clear that evil does not cast out evil. I have a question? In light of this passage how does the books of Harry Potter stand against this line of theology. I don’t think it can how can white magic cast out black magic? Surely according to the scripture it is one and the same.

He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters. V 23

What does it mean to Gather with Jesus?

I believe the amplified explains this well.

He who is not with Me [siding and believing with Me] is
against Me, and he who does not gather with Me [engage in My interest],
scatters. (Luke 11:23 AMP)

We need to engage with Gods interests. I ask you what are these interests? Souls for Christ. Healing the sick. Loving people unconditionally. Helping others particularly the oppressed, orphaned, homeless and widowed!

We need to get close to Christ to see his face and to get inline with what’s on his heart. I encourage for you to ask God what is on YOUR heart and help me to align my heart to yours.

Jesus finishes with a response to a lady who identifies Mary, Jesus’s mother and says she should be blessed for having and bringing up Jesus. Strangely Jesus gives a response that is an interesting perspective.

But He said, Blessed (happy and to be envied) rather are
those who hear the Word of God and obey and practice
it! (Luke 11:28 AMP)

So we have heard the Word today we have to consciously choose to follow it!

Over the last term I have been teaching a series of lesson bassed on the ICT OCR Nationals syllabus. The syllabus is broken down into 6 modules and the pupils have to complete each module at pass level in order to get what is equivalent to half a GCSE.

I have been specifically teaching them the AO6 Databases module over the last 7 weeks.

Please see my medium term plan here >> bit.ly/lewvPv

The challenge with this unit was to make it interesting and engaging for the pupils. Databases can be a bland topic to teach as it is quite a formal and rigid skill that does not allow for much creativity. The easiest way I found to make it interesting was to try and choose a topic that allowed them to engage with the program. As a department we came up with an idea for the pupils to create a music festival and to allow the pupils to choose the types of bands that they would like to perform. This allowed the pupils to create the tables in the database with information that was relevant to them.

Each skill needed to be chunked into small tasks as at times the pupils got lost when doing the long processes of creating queries and reports. It was also important to explain why they would do certain tasks in the program so that they could see the benefit of using an automated program like this.

I found the use of the powerpoint template was helpful to scaffold the pupils work and give them direction however after a while the pupils lost interest and became obviously quite bored with the process of combing in again and again and gathering screen shots for each skill they have shown and annotating it. In the future i will try and find more activities that allow them to do the work quicker and more independently. To give time allow for more creative teaching.

After we had finished this i was able to collect the work through the automated Joint assessment system program and I am currently in the process of marking it to give pupils feed back.

>> powerpoint template = bit.ly/iwZw8P

Lesson Plan >> bit.ly/kncUqQ

What went well?

In this lesson pupils where given a good opportunity to practice their numeracy skills by using their research to fill in a finances spread sheet in Excel. They where able to practice doing formular such as sum functions and simple adding up formular they als learnt how to do percentage. This was all worked into a scafolded spreadsheet as the pupils where of a low ability.

Pupils learn the importance of creating finances and the reason why they do it. There where some good responses saying why they though so during times of questioning.

I was able to challenge the pupils by asking them to try an figure out certain formular without any guided teaching.

What could have been done better.

Some of the items on the spread sheet where not included in the list of items they could produce making it hard for them fill the spread sheet out completely

Some pupils needed to be encouraged to get a move on with their work and needed a few warnings given.

I could have made the introduction to the spreadsheet more interesting and engaging to grab the pupils attention.
