Well the phrase was invented by Travis Sago – a great chap by the way and who is always there to help in the Wealthy Affiliate Forum.

Travis says that you can literally take someone off the street – hence the term “bum” and teach them to make money online in a short period of time.

In summary it works like this

1. You go out and find a “hungry” market – You do this by using keyword tools to see how many searches are being done for a particular product/service.

2. Once you have found that hungry market – You then determine how much competition there is in the market.

3. Use quotes at google to see how much competition there is – for example say you found that there was a market for “training puppies to sit” – just type those words, including the quotes “” into google.

If the amount of competing web pages is under 5000 or better still under 1000 then you know you are onto something.

4. You would then set up a free blog at wordpress.com or blogger .com

5. Make sure you target the long keyword ie training puppies to sit – in your blog articles.

6. You then go and use high ranking sites like ezinearticles.com and usfreeads.com to place articles and ads with your main keywords/keyphrases. Make sure you link the articles back to your blog.

The whole idea is that because you are using keywords that there is not that much competition for, yet there are a few searches done, you should be able to get a top position in the major search engines for your keyword/keyphrase.

OK that’s just a short summary. There is a lot more to it – it certainly does work though and you can make money without spending a dime in advertising.

This was one of the great tips I found in the Wealthy Affiliate Program. Travis is a big cheese in there and he goes into it in great detail. The other thing that the Wealthy Affiliate program shows you is how to market effectively with google adwords.

I have lost a bit of money in adwords and I could not figure what I was doing wrong. I joined the Wealthy Affiliate Program and within a few hours I found out some very useful tips that enabled me to use adwords much more effectively to promote my sites.

There is no question that making money online is all about getting targeted traffic to your websites and converting that traffic to sales.

There is a learning curve involved though. You just can’t get away from that.

It takes us a few months to get your keywords on the top – simply because of all the work that is involved. However,  once they are there then you can make a ton of cash. That’s a good tip by the way. If you are using google adwords and you are not very sure what you are doing.

Turn off your ads displaying on the content network.

The reason for this is that your ads show up on other people’s site and because of that people might click on them. You might think that is fine, and in some cases it is, but you have to remember that when someone sees an ad on another site they have generally not searched for that term and might just click on it to be nosey! This costs you money. What you should always do is try to get very targeted people coming to your site. So the best place to have your ads showing is the Search Network Only.

Looks like Kyle and Carson have figured out a way round that though. We will just have to wait and see when the Who Loves Money Ebook comes out.
