Refurbishing furniture has turned into more than a hobby. Call me crazy, but I think each piece of furniture has a story behind it and if it's just a little piece, how can I make it more beautiful? How can I bring joy to another person with a piece of furniture.

Look around today and all the beautiful items are high priced. With economy the way it is, someone needed to step in and make it more affordable. That's where I am hoping to go, it was always my dream to open up a little corner store where I can have my little painted knick knacks or refurbished items... One day that dream will come true. I have met so many wonderful people that are doing the same thing as I am and I am learning so much from them. Kudos to The Purple Painted Lady for taking my call out of no where and being able to help me. I really appreciated that.
Thanks to all the new followers that I have on Grannies Refurbished Furniture on my Facebook page and thanks to my wonderful husband who said to me yesterday, "Keep this up we are going to have to get a truck." Yes Dear, I do think you are right. :)
today.... Reach out to that special someone that you haven't talked to in
a while.... Lets bring it back to the good ole days where one went out
and talked to their friends and neighbors and lets bring Religion back
into our lives.

First of all, we give our deepest sympathy and regrets to Newtown, CT and its residents. I wish we could erase that day and pretend that it never happened. But we can't, we can go on and give out hugs and prayers, we can go on and try and make it better but we can't. We can only learn from this.

But what do we learn exactly? What lesson do we take in from this? We learn never to take Life for granted. Anything can happen at any moment. Just make sure that your loved ones know how much they mean to you. I hear alot of issues about Gun Control and how we should ban Guns, but is that the answer? I don't think it is. I think the answer is more help for the Mentally Challenged and Mentally unstable. Stop tossing them aside and get them the help that they need.

Maybe, we do need a little more Gun Control but not to the extreme where they want to ban all guns. Some how the criminals will get their hands on Guns and then what protection will we have? Learn to respect the Gun and what it stands for. If your going to own a Gun, be a responsible gun owner. That is the key, Responsibility.

Again, hugs and prayers to Newtown, CT and its residents. One day your town will be full of laughter and joy but until then, Never say Goodbye.. Just say See you later.... Your loved ones are right beside you full of Joy in the arms of Angels. Love you all!!

The Angel of Staten Island

Happy Tuesday...

As always, I like to introduce you to people who have made a strong impact on me and others.
Patricia Madsen came into my life many years ago and I am proud to call her a good friend. She has been an Angel for Staten Island and its residents, I will let her tell you her story....
Written from Patricia Madsen herself.

Two yrs ago I did a relief fund for Alabama when the tornado's hit
there. We sent over 4 18 wheeler tractor trailers full of supplies and
goods to them!! Two yrs ago my daughters were 2 and 3.
When
Hurricane Sandy hit, my daughter Andrea (who is now 5) was sitting on
the couch with us watching the news. She looked over at me and said
"Mommy what are we going to do?" I looked at her in a state of shock...
and said "Mommy is working on something, don't worry baby girl!"
Although I had nothing planned I could not disappoint my baby girls!!!!
So like a crazy person, I didn't sleep for two days straight, just
thinking about what we could do. And I finally came up with an idea.
Before I said anything to my husband, I sat down with Andrea and Kelly
and told them I came up with an idea. They were so excited. I asked them
"baby girls would you like to cook thanksgiving dinner and bring it to
Staten Island?" Andrea said "And we can serve them and help them out,
the people who got hurt by Sandy?" I said with tears in my eyes "yes
baby girl!" I called Pj (my husband) and told him what I had come up
with and he said "lets do it, Im ready" Who knew doing the relief fund
two years ago would put such an impact on her life. They were so
excited. So I had to live up to their expections.
I got their schools
involved and friends family and neighbors, even friends from out of
state!! I was able to send over an 18 wheeler tractor trailer filled to
the max in two weeks!!!! I was able to get in contact with an awesome
guy named Jean in Staten Island who lost everything himself, but chose
to take care of his community by setting up a relief center. He had it
open 24/7. he was there sleeping in a tent taking care of everyone else
but himself.
Two days before we left for our first trip out to Staten
Island I started cooking, and cooking, and cooking. I cooked 400 lbs of
food by myself with just my girls and a very good friend, Carol who
doesn't cook but she stayed by my side doing whatever she could do. We
went out to Staten Island with 500 lbs of food the day before
Thanksgiving and served the community from 11 am till 10 pm.
We
cried our eyes out when we got there, and we cried our eyes when we
left. The devastation is unbelievable. And I knew I just couldn't stop
there. When I set my mind to something I go all the way!!! So I told my
girls and PJ and Jean that I would be back, I'm not going to forget
about them.
There were people there that touched my heart like you
couldn't even imagine. We have gone out every weekend helping and
volunteering. Last week we meet two families that have broke our hearts,
and we knew we had to dedicate a lot of our time to them.
One
family has 4 children, a husband and wife. Fran is such an amazing
person, she touched our hearts tremendously. We have been cooking for
her family for the last two weeks. I make sure I cook enough to last
them a whole week. Until we come back.
Fran had told Carol and I
that she doesnt even have any money to get her daughter (who is 13) a
Xmas tree. We took her to the relief center that we were volunteering at
and she got so much stuff. This past weekend we went to Staten Island
on a Mission bigger than just cooking. I cooked tons of food for her
family brought her tons of donations. Pj said "No child should be
without a christmas tree" He bought her a Christmas tree, lights and
decorations. We knocked on her door and the girls gave her the tree!
Just the smile on her face was worth everything!! She was so happy to
have received the tree, she started tearing up. She gave me the biggest
hug a little girl could give. Her father was crying, which in turn made
us all cry. Her son looked at me and said "It's because of people like
you who make us get up everyday with a smile on our face, if it wasn't
for you guys we would have given up already!" That broke my heart and
made me cry even more!!
After we left them we went to our other
friend Steve. Who lost EVERYTHING!!! When Sandy hit he went into his
crawl space in the attic with his wife 85lb dog and 7 cats, and rode the
storm out up there. He brought a bottle of 151 rum just in case they
were going to drown. He was going to give his wife a drink so she would
go to sleep and not experience the travesty of drowning!! We brought him
trays and trays of food. A propane stove, a heater so he could stay
warm, cleaning supplies and masks. He was so great ful for everything.
He walked me through what was left of his house. It was the most
horrible sight I have ever seen in my life. The smell was horrible. But
he has the most amazing outlook on life. He is very cheerful and has his
American flag hanging from the front of his house.
We walk up and
down the streets, and see homes knocked off of their foundations, homes
destroyed from the bottom up. Children's toys crushed. You can see
through peoples houses, their kitchens with no walls. Kids bedrooms just
demolished and left with nothing in them. Toothbrushes on the floor in
the mud, peoples family pictures. Their lives in piles of rumble, being
put into dumpsters.
People like that break my heart and make me do
this. I do this because not only do I care about people, but I am doing
this because I am teaching my girls what being a great person is. If I
want my girls to change the world it has to start with PJ and I!!!

If you would like to donate, let me know and I will put you in contact with The Angel of StatenIsland.
The relief Center that she is working with is located at 626 midland ave Staten Island NY 10306
If your local in the area, she is looking for Christmas Toys to bring the children of Staten Island.

Happy Monday!!! :)
I am ready to start 2013 out with a bang.. I had to find something that I enjoyed doing while exercising and I think I finally found it.. I like the GO GO GO, sweat until your body hurts kind of exercise...
A friend opened a Spinning Center recently... Lifecycle Studios and I said, "Why not?" It's something you haven't done yet and how bad can it really be. It's not moving your back and stretching and exercising.... So I went.... Let's say I had my patooty kicked... I kept it at my own pace, did what I could do and left it at that. Being the first time, I didnt want to over do it.

Started out slow with a great mellow atmosphere and before I knew it, I felt like I was climbing Mt Everest. Cycling to the top of the peak and then hurry hurry hurry back down the peak so that I could make it to the next peak. If this were a real race, I'm sure I would have been last of the pack but the main thing is I made it through the hour. How am I feeling today? Sore, but for the first time in a long time.. I feel that I am coming back stronger then ever. I'm sure I will have my off days where I have to go visit my other favorite place in town, Tone U, where toning is the answer.. But for now, as long as I get out there build my endurance and mobility back then I'm on the right track.

The key to this little entry is Never give up!!! Some where out there is something that will test you, Something that will push you back down like someone or something has a thumb on your head saying, "NO I have control over your life and body". That is when you reach out and say, "Like H3!! you do I am in charge of my own future and there is Nothing going to stop me now"

You can do this, You can be in control of your own destiny.. JUST DO IT!!
We seem to make all kinds of excuses why we cant do something, why it wont work, why this and why that.... But when it really comes down to it, YES YOU CAN!!! The mind is an evil thing sometimes, telling us what we cant do, when we know we can do it.

I thought this was the perfect picture for Wordless Wednesday.... Now get in the right frame of mind and know that you can do whatever you set your mind to. Strong is the Answer to your prayers.

Succeeding with Visalus

So your thinking about coming on board with Visalus... The only thing I can say is DO IT!!!!! Do it for you, do it for your family but most of all do it because YOU WANT TO!!!
The big question is, should you become a promoter or a customer..

Coming on as a customer is always a great thing, try the product see how well you do with it and then move forward to promoter. I can almost guarantee that you know someone that suffers from some kind of ailment... main thing is getting the proper nutrients and vitamins into your body so that Visalus can do its thing.. Which is adding something that you don't get into your every day life, like vitamins and nutrition. You don't even want me to get into the store bought food with GMO's and sugar intake and I can go on and on, but wont.

What I can do is tell you some of my teams success stories.. Lower A1c's, less pain, weight loss, nail and hair growth, more energy, muscle building. That is just the health success's, now we can go on to the financial aspect. It has turned my life and so many others lives around, with the payments. Are you the type that Pays it Forward? It doesnt matter how you do it, just do it.. It will make you feel so much better and the look on the other persons face is well worth it..... What have you done lately? Yesterday I had the pleasure of Walking for the Poor and helping to raise over 2000.00 with Tone U Toning Center. Anyone know how to change the name without losing the links and all my visitors? Me neither... If you do, please tell me..

Playing catch up here..... Aquaponics is going better than I ever thought. We have alot of fish in the tank now and plants are doing awesome... We were told that Tilapia multiply fast.. Eeks, Fish Farmers without planning.... But its all in fun and the fish are happy in their new surroundings.

Becoming more aware of what I eat and portion control and mainly where my food has been before I eat it.. That was the main purpose of starting the aquaponics... I think more people need to be more aware of the things they put into their families stomachs and the things that they bring into the house to clean.. Vinegar is a great house cleaner, may stink for a minute or two but its better then bringing toxins into the household. GO NON GMO!!! If you want to know more about gardening and our aquaworld then head on over to Spring Hill Green Thumb Club on FB.

Had the pleasure of helping the Area Club out with a Yard sale and came across a real beauty... I don't know old it is but hubby says probably in the 70's. Its a sewing machine table.. Sturdy wood and I picked it up for 4.50.. pretty good deal, I think. Now do I want to sand and repaint Country Blue or leave it the way it is ... What would you do?

As time grew and I realized what I had gotten myself into the more I decided that for my families sake, I had to be proactive not reactive. I had to start paying attention to what I was putting on my food table, what chemicals I was bringing into the house and on my property.

Did you know a well known weed killer can cause Nerve Damage, Cancer and many other diseases??

Have you ever thought about what your fruits and vegetables have gone through before they reach your table. How about Mice crawling over them and unsanitary conditions. Personally, I want to know where my produce has been before it hits my stomach.

So hubby came up with a brilliant idea, he started looking into aquaponics. He knows how much I love to garden and he knew that we had to start growing our own food, after all who wants to pay high prices for something that I can grow in a bucket or planter. Combine gardening with my favorite place to be at Disney is Living off the Land at Epcot Center and we had a hit. So he started thinking of ideas how to make this work.. In the meantime, I'm looking at him like hes crazy. Well needless to say, he pulled it off.

Shhh, I won't tell him what a genius he is... but I think HE ROCKS!! So if your trying to get healthy and want to save money, I strongly suggest in looking into aquaponics, just some fish, some plants and some ideas is all it took....

Oh by the way, use vinegar to clean your house and kill your weeds works much better..

I started slacking off a little because of an accident and needless to say, I am starting my new 90 day Challenge today.. By New Years pictures, I am going to be ONE HOT MAMA.... So that's enough of me feeling down and out..

Walking Three times a week, a mile each time to get the body used to moving again. Bodily injuries is not an easy thing to go through, but I am learning to push through the pain. It's the only thing you can do, not to give up on yourself.

Went Belly dancing last night to strengthen core muscles. Thought this was going to be hard but it wasnt as bad as I thought. Little steps, little wiggles will turn into big wiggles.

Eating more salads and less foods that are bad for you. The Vi shakes are a wonderful way to get the proper nutrients and vitamins into your body and curbs the hunger. Portion control and paying attention to what your eating goes hand in hand with that.

Grab a friend that cares and help them be accountable and for them to do the same with you. Food is a drug, sugars are a drug and we have to break the cycle... Together we can accomplish miracles...

Show me your guns

Ladies and Gents, We need to take our Strength Stamina and durability back... I was one that did the billing and admitting clerk. I've seen cases come and go, not really paying attention to the customer as a whole.
There were a few patients that I got to know and care for but I hate to say it, too busy doing my job to really get to know them and their pains.

Since joining with Visalus, I brought my people caring skills many levels higher. I now get to know them as friends. I get to know their Why's.. What makes them tick, what are they going through at home, how can I help them become better?

This is what I was meant to do and where I was meant to be...

I married a man 12 years ago who developed Fibromyalgia and Neuropathy. I could not understand this disease and the more I read up on it, the more I got to know and understand it... I understand that it's serious stuff we are dealing with... I then developed Diabetes non insulin dependent and recently being in a car accident, developed neuropathy. So many of these diseases that we are talking about is Nerve pain.

When you run into an old friend or even a new friend, Ask them, How are you feeling today? Sometimes they look fine on the outside but feel like crap on the inside and all they want is someone to talk to, that cares about them.

Do you have what it takes?

I received a phone call from a team member telling me that she just had to call and tell me the good news... She knew I was one of her biggest fans and I would truly be happy to hear how well she is doing in her business and with her successful weight loss. She booked her first Challenge party after her friends noticed the transformation. She was looking better, had a glow about her knowing that she was actually changing right before their eyes.

Are you your team players biggest fan?

Many times people don't have the self confidence that they should have. Not knowing what their past is you should NEVER judge another human being. My goal is to help build one up in both confidence and help them realize that they can succeed.

When you meet someone do you leave them with a smile on their face? Are they looking forward to the next time that you meet or running from you every time they see you.

Take a look in the mirror and ask yourself, Do I want to be friends with that person?

Going through life, and as we get older we realize it's just not about us anymore, its about how we make others feel and paying it forward.

Just my thoughts for today.. :)

I love going to the Events and if you haven't been to one, I say get your patooty there.. From the minute you walk in the buy your tickets and walk in the door to the time you leave... Your going to be in a whole different atmosphere, imagine knowing that there is hope that your life will change and watching others that were in the process of being in debt and losing their house to making five or six figure income a month.

You hear all the stories how Visalus has changed ones life when there was no hope with their health issues. I would rather drink a yummy shake twice a day and take vitamins that I know are going to work. I am walking proof of that, because I have Hypothyroidism and Diabetes.

Want to get pumped up, meet new friends, cry a few *well a lot of tears* with people that have been in the same boat as you??? Then know that there is hope, all you have to do is believe in yourself and Visalus..

Believe in your sponsor.. Your sponsor is someone that believes in you. That takes the time and makes sure that you will succeed. Someone that holds your hand and tells you that its going to be ok and that you will make it together.

This is the first day to the rest of your life, it's your decision on how your going to live it... If you want more info, click on the button to the left or leave me a comment and know that we will do this together....

Oh say that it costs too much, let me tell you I started out with the basic distributorship and worked my way to Regional Director in just a few months.. Let me help you!

I want to see you in Orlando or at your Regional Event...

Getting notes from school stating that your child is getting into trouble, has a hard time concentrating or not paying attention? How about the dreaded letter from the school stating that your child has a weight problem?

Looking for something thats good for your child, that is easy to make and send them out the door or to help control their hyperactivity and crashing during the day?
Then Visalus is what you need.

If you have a hyperactive child, start looking at what they eating... Instead of giving them cookies and snacks, give them fruits and veggies. Send them out the door with a Yummy Strawberry Vi Shake, my grandkids dont even ask for the cereals.. They want their shakes.

Have a child that's in sports or cheerleading? Then again, Vi is the answer. Helps build up the muscles, stamina and gives lots of energy. The right kind of energy, not sugar based..

Lets talk about how we can help your child....

Isnt that the cutest thing? But anyway, back on track.. Imagine my excitement, when I find out that our Visalus Regional will be at the Dolphin Resort at Disney World.. I have always wanted to stay there and I haven't had my Disney Fix yet this year so why not... If I'm going to do it, why not do it BIG!!!

Let's Roll back about 2 years ago, never could afford a Disney Vacation let alone staying at the Dolphin. You scrimp, you save but life gets in the way. Not anymore, I am the Captain of my own ship. I decide which port I want to sail into and when I want to leave. The great thing about this is that I get to take others with me, if they so choose.

I know I have my friends and family on board with me and some are still on the dock deciding whether or not to jump on and others are still on land looking but not really paying attention yet, but let me tell you. It is the best thing that I have ever done.

It makes a world of difference when your feeling better, you have more money left at the end of the month and your excited about life again...

I will see you at the Dolphin in October and then Disney Run Here I come..... :)
