Public resentment isn't a gown - but who wears their "dressing down" best?

Rather than quoting dozens of comments verbatim, I will sum up what was said about Kate:

- She was from a "common" family who were an embarrassment
- She stalked William in college and had a poster of him on her wall
- She and her mother schemed and connived to get into the Royal Family
- She and her mother were social climbers of the worst order
- She was pathetic because she sat around waiting for William for years
- She was lazy because she barely worked and seemed to have no ambition
- She wanted William to be top WAG
- She waited around for almost a decade until William was forced into marriage
- She was "Lazy Katie" who did few public engagements but enjoyed royal perks
- William's friends didn't like her and mocked her behind her back
- Her family were used as a "surrogate family" to lure vulnerable William in
- Her fashion was terrible and dowdy
- She was constantly flashing her bits in public by not wearing proper attire
- She was smug and looked like "the cat that got the cream" when she smiled
- She's known in circles as "Duchess DoLittle" because of her lack of work ethic

Many who previously mocked her now praise her professionalism, decorum and fashion.

There's much thanking to the heavens that she'll be the future Queen and represent England, unlike the detestable American. Apparently she's also an excellent mother, a credit to the Royal Family and a kind hearted soul.

What they now say about Meghan:

- She's the lowest form of common and her family is trailer trash; an utter embarrassment and disgrace to the royal family
- She plotted and connived to enter Harry's circles to meet him
- She planned the 'blind date' and pretended to be what he wanted
- She's a social climbing gold digger who many not even care about him
- She's a liar, fraud, narcissist and maybe even sociopath
- She's desperate for the fame, adulation and press
- She loves the spotlight; she's smug and smirks
- She always looks like the "cat that got the cream"
- She's henpecked Harry; she's controlling and manipulating
- She's alienating Harry from his family and friends (who don't like her)
- She's too brash, American, a divorcee and liberal
- She wants to change the institution of Royalty and do as she pleases
- She wants to be Diana 2.0 and was obsessed with her and royalty
- She's treated her family, exes & friends shabbily and discards people
- She's not refined, her fashion is terrible and she doesn't follow protocols
[- And comments from the racists that don't bear mentioning again]

That sums the bulk of it up. Her admirers used to mock Kate and call her 'lazy' and 'Duchess DoLittle'. They called Cressida milquetoast and a bore, Chelsey Davy was ugly (and much worse); all kinds of cruel things were said I won't repeat.

But now because Meghan isn't from the aristocracy or money, and because she's mixed race she is automatically to be admired and supported without question. Any criticism is "racism". She's apparently a breath of fresh air and much needed to modernize a conservative, outdated institution.

Many of these same people still lambaste Kate in comparisons: saying she didn't work hard enough; that she has no independence or personality and that Meghan is superior in work ethic, intellect, fashion and looks.

I'm curious ... what are your thoughts?

Royal Foundation Dinner

Unfortunately no good view of Meghan's dress was captured. I will reluctantly give this one to Kate. The dress looked lovely with an updo (shown for context), but the asymmetric neckline looks off with her hair down. I'm not a fan of Meghan's Roland Mouret dress: the lower half is pretty but the mismatched top is unattractive.
