WHOMBUS FILMS IS MOVING!

2010-08-31T20:26:00.000-07:00

UPDATE 06.07.2014: Sadly, my home of almost two decades, cherry-land.net, is no more, as the hosting company unexpectedly ceased to be and took my entire website with it. :(

Anyway, that means the new Whombus Films has disappeared into the ether, and now I've got to resurrect it... again. But I'm doing it right this time at: WhombusFilms.com, yet another new (and hopefully permanent) home for my film stuff and the like.

But for right now, to see my videos, please visit my personal portfolio at: http://www.laurenwinsorstenmoe.com/

Stay Tuned...
xoxo, Momo

PS: I was at least able to somewhat salvage Cherry-Land.net, isn't that spectacular? One of the few benefits of the fact that nothing ever really gets deleted from the internet. :D

----------------------------------------------------------

Please pardon the mess, Whombus Films is moving! Check out the new website at:

Iron Editor 2010 (Anime Iowa)

2010-07-31T00:00:00.000-07:00

Starting at midnight, four editors were given six hours to make an anime music video. We could bring in up to 8 hours of footage, but the song was a total mystery. This year, we were given and extra challenge: we would be making an MEP or a Multi-Editor Project. Each of us would be given part of the song and all our videos would be compiled into one. Whichever part was voted the best, wins. Shockingly, that was my piece.

Many thanks to Pyrolord for running such an amazing contest plus compiling the video so seemlessly. And please do check out the video of the incredible editors I got to work with: Kugs, Anime Faerie and Everfire!

My Life on the Crazy Train Sucks (Anime Music Video)

2010-07-06T22:39:00.005-07:00

I heard the song byDan Mei and Marc Johnce of DMF (Danish-German Mashup Forces), My Life on the Crazy Train Sucks on The Best of Bootie 2009 mashup album and became consumed with the idea of making this video with FLCL (Fooly Cooly). I couldn't have had more fun if I tried working on it. :) But be warned: spoilers ahead!

Edited my first Supertaster video for CHOW! It couldn't have been more fun... James Norton is such a kick and it was filmed near my old stomping grounds.

Time After Time (Anime Music Video)

2010-05-30T10:40:00.000-07:00

I fell in love with The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and needed to make an AMV to it. When I heard Quietdrive's cover of Time After Time, I knew I found my song. Spoilers ahead so watch the movie first, you won't regret it!

AMV: Worship at Full Volume (WAFV)

2010-05-12T11:32:00.000-07:00

A labor of love if there ever was one. Started two years ago, I joined this project a year in to work with a friend on completing this ambitious multi-editor project. Congratulations to all the editors who contributed to the video and to Osakaisthebomb and Hagaren Viper for all their hard work leading the charge and putting it together! I edited 2 tracks (one at 5:35 and the other at 8:48) under the name Momoko17.

(After the video is a list of all the contributing editors, please support them and check out their other amazing videos!)

Contributing Editors: Hagaren Viper, AllyKatAVR, CodeZTM, Inan, Kazemon15, LeapofFate, Osakaisthebomb, nevergreen and pyrolord

DOCU: Dance Dance Revolution Evolution: The History of DDR

2009-12-18T22:23:00.000-08:00

I have a not-so-secret obsession with DDR and enjoyed the excuse to bust out all my old games and mats far more than I probably should have. This video was a combination project for both my History of Video Games class and my Advanced After Effects class to kill two birds with one stone, if you will. It's the history of Dance Dance Revolution, abridged.

CHOW Tip: How to Make Delicious Fake Blood for Halloween

2009-10-12T12:50:00.000-07:00

I'm starring in my very own CHOW Tip! About... fake blood? We were having an incredibly fun time coming up with some silly CHOW Tips for Halloween and I offered up my fake blood recipe that I use when filming. The last shot took about fourteen tries. At least it's tasty?

Supertaster: Supertaster Hits the Minnesota State Fair

2009-09-04T12:51:00.000-07:00

Being a Minnesota native, the thing I was missing the most was not making that annual trip to the Minnesota State Fair, land of everything on a stick. I pitched the idea to CHOW that one of the writers, James Norton, should do one of his Supertaster video segments there, since he lives in the area. They ran with it and featured some amazing food!

CHOW Tips: Cake Decorating

2009-06-26T17:52:00.000-07:00

These were my favorite CHOW Tips ever to edit! I'm probably biased because I love cake decorating, but How to Make a Buttercream Rose is one of the most challenging tips I've ever edited and am very happy with how it came out. My own handmade buttercream roses, however, are another story. Gabrielle Feuersinger of Cake Coquette makes some seriously beautiful cakes.

CHOW Tips: Cooking with Amy Sherman

2009-05-07T18:36:00.000-07:00

I edited my very first CHOW Tips with Amy Sherman from Cooking with Amy! I even got to be on set that day for my first real shoot too. :)

Iron Editor Contest: Haruko versus Haruhi

2008-08-16T10:03:00.002-07:00

Over the weekend I participated in Anime Iowa's Iron Editor competition and shockingly, I won! Considering that immediately after that, my video Breathe Again won Best in Show at the AMV contest, I had a consistent series of small heart attacks the entire rest of the weekend. Especially since I've never won anything before at these competitions, I still don't believe it.

For Iron Editor we were given six hours (starting at midnight) to complete an entire AMV. We had to provide the footage ourselves, but the total length of the footage could not exceed eight hours. We did not know what song we were to edit to, that would be given out just as the competition started. I competed against two other very talented women, Anime Faerie and SpiffyNerd who made the experience extremely fun. See below for links to their versions! The footage I (thankfully) chose was FLCL (Furi Kuri) and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The mystery song was I, My, Me, Mine by Polysics.

DOCU: Hotel Vitale

2008-05-15T10:03:00.006-07:00

This is a video that I made for my final project in Survey of Bay Area Architecture. The project was to do a presentation on a modern building and I chose the Hotel Vitale, part of Joie de Vivre Hospitality.

Out of respect for the wishes of the hotel, this video will not be available to view online, only for portfolio review purposes. If you would like to see the video for that reason, please e-mail me and I'll be happy to provide you with a private link to the video. Thank you for understanding.

This assignment for Non-linear Computer Editing 2 was a sound exercise. We were supposed to use music and sound effects to tell a story and then alter the previously edited footage accordingly.
