Tom Jones & Jack White

Jack White’s been doing all sorts of late and now, most recently he teams up with Tom Jones to cover Howlin’ Wolf.

This team up comes as the next instalment from the Third Man Records Blue Series, a collection produced by White at his Third Man studio in Nashville.

The cover is of blues cut Evil (made popular by Howlin’ Wolf”) can be heard via BBC 6 Radio, and it features White himself.

You can find the single, out on March 5th on Third Man Records with the b side being a cover of the Frankie Lane track Jezebel.

Naked Perfume

2012 seems to be the year of the naked. Naked this naked that and now naked perfume.

Following on from Urban Decay‘s Naked palette and Bliss’s Naked Body Butter there is now, of course, I am Naked perfume from I Am Scents.

So what does being naked smell like exactly? Well apparently it is a blend of violet, melon, and metal, that is we are told, what a body smells of.

We’re not sure how great this is but it’s novel for sure. You can find it at Urban Outfitters.

T-Shirt Party Is Back

Hands up who remembers T-Shirt Party? For those who don’t here’s a bit about it… Back in 2012 many a Londoner could be spotted in almost identical white tees with just one subtle difference, the logo or pattern on the front. They were wearing a T-Shirt Party tee, an initiative that brought out a new £10 tee every week each designed by a different artist and each accompanied by a minute long video. And now it’s back for the first time in two years.

Returning after huge popular demand next month T-Shirt Party are celebrating by putting all of the 52 original designs back on sale until the end of Feb before the new designs begin to be revealed in March.

BBQ Meat In London

There’s no doubt about it, London has gone BBQ crazy in the past few months.

Phrases like pulled pork and root beer are just tripping off the tongue as though we are swanning about in far warmer climates.

Most of this Barbeque fad probably stems from the many pop up eateries we have seen over the past year or so. It’s no secret that rib and pulled pork haven Meat Liqour started as a van that trotted about London stopping where ever it could to make meat so good people queued around the block for it.

But this queueing for BBQ food has now extended further with each new BBQ restaurant offering operating a no reservations policy.

This is all well and good for people that can afford to do late weekday lunches and stay out till the latter restaurant opening hours but for the large part not everyone has the luxury so most end up having to go a long wait.

We’ve heard from many people over the past few weeks desperate to try new BBQ places such as Pit Cue out but after standing in a freezing line for over half an hour have lost their appetite.

Either way places such as the ones mentioned above and of course the staple, Bodeans are showing no signs of loosing their queues just yet. With three out of the four restaurants we have mentioned here being the most searched for on Time Out’s restaurant pages I would maybe give it a good few months till at least it’s warm whilst you wait in line.

By the summer we also predict that there will be a bevy of new BBQ pop ups again, making the most of the portable cooking option and the decent weather so you will no doubt get your BBQ fill.

Franz Ferdinand Remixes

Franz Ferdinand are about to release two 12 inch remix packages and you can listen to a preview of it below.

The remixes are of covers of the bands songs originally performed by LCD Soundsystem, Debbie Harry and Peaches as well as other artists for a cover EP which was put out for Record Store Day 2011. Give three of the tracks below.

Google To Launch Terminator Glasses

If this is true it could be one of the greatest things we’ve heard about in quite a considerable amount of time. According to reports Google are to create a pair of Terminator style glasses that will allow users to view Google apps and sites while on the move.

In a move that would finding our way around even easier the glasses would allow us to access things like Google maps and Google Earth from anywhere at anytime and there will even be a built in audio system. There’s already been a prototype made and apparently it will operate in just one eye so that there’s no bashing into people or tripping over while using them and apparently they resemble Oakley’s Thump sunglasses (give them a Google).

Now before you get too excited there isn’t any word on when or even if these will get a mass market release but if we all keep our fingers crossed really hard who knows what could happen.

New UK band Big Deal arrive with the video for their single, Talk that has the same sexy husky, couldn’t give a shit but it comes out good anyway XX kinda way.

What with The XX not bringing a whole lot out at the moment Big Deal will certainly will that cross shaped gap for the minute.

Tatty Devine Frida Kahlo Jewellery

Here’s a brief history lesson for anyone not already in the know, Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter who was best known for her self portraits (and bushy eyebrows) who had a troubled relationship with fellow artist Diego Rivera.

Now the iconic artist has inspired a new jewellery line from WJ favourite, Tatty Devine who have today revealed the colourful new collection of rings, necklaces and bracelets. To launch the line the brand shot the pieces in a photo shoot inspired by Kahlo’s work and you can check out the shoot above.
