Gelatin Art Cake

2018-11-02T09:59:00.001-04:00

Happy Friday my pretties! I wanted to take a minute to show you all my latest fixation. Jello Art Cakes. I have seen these on the interwebz for years & sooo wanted to try this. And finally I did. I purchased a kit from Gelatin Art Market, I could spend tons of money there! But, with that not being an option I bought a starter kit with tools.

I was so excited waiting for it to arrive. I couldn't wait to open the kit & get started. It has everything you need to get started & you don't have to sell any vital organs to afford it! Here's what you get

Contents:

- High Quality Gelatin Powder Bloom 280

- Citric acid

- Vanilla sugar

- Food coloring (Yellow, Red, Blue, White)

- Food Flavoring

- Syringes

- Blunt and sharp edge needles

- Gelatin Art Tools (4 Pcs)

- Ultra absorbent tissues

- Plastic containers #1009 (15 Pcs)

The kit of course comes with directions on how to prepare the Gelatin & the different methods. I'll cut to the chase & show you what I did.

This was my first attempt. I have to admit I was rather impressed with myself. Believe me, I watched many Youtube videos before I attempted to do this.

These were next.

I sent a photo of the one above to my youngest daughter & she though it was a paper weight! But I can see why she would think that.

Not all were great. Just tuck the ones you don't like into what will be the back of the cake & cut that piece first. Preferably slicing into the middle of the failed creation before anyone notices it!

This one below made me cringe.

I still have a long way to go & many techniques to learn & perfect.

Next was forming the actual cake. This can get a bit tricky but I'm sure over time I will have less issues with it. For one thing the glass bowls ended up really heavy. You have to insert a smaller bowl into the bigger bowl & you have to secure that sucker so it stays put.

After securing the smaller bowl I added clear gelatin between the small bowl & the larger bowl. Then added ice water to help it set quicker. Once the gelatin has set you simply use a ladle to scoop out the water. Next was immersing the entire thing in warm water to release the hold on the smaller bowl. You do have to be careful not to get water into the gelatin & also not to allow the gelatin to melt. I found out after using the glass bowls that metal bowls or pans release so much easier (& I'm sure weigh less). But I wouldn't have these photos had I used metal to begin with since metal bowls are not see through. I was remiss in getting photos of the filling of the center of the cake. I used different color gelatin layers to form the middle.

Here it is after releasing it from the larger bowl. I thought it was delicious. I took this to work as it was the owner's birthday of the store that I manage & she was stopping by. Some people were unsure of how to react to this. One of my clerks just couldn't get enough of this.

I thought of making individual gelatin cakes with gelatin skulls in the center & tinting the clear gelatin red. Haven't done it yet but I'm going to call them "Blood Blisters". Yes, it sounds gross & disgusting but hey......why not?

Moral of the story is: Don't be afraid to try something new.

I f this intrigues you, I suggest stopping by the Gelatin Art Market & scope it out. And don't forget YouTube. Lots of videos to get those creative juices flowing!

Gotta fly dearies!

Ceane is also an incredibly talented award winning author! Her County Chronicles series is checked full of fascinating Pennsylvania history. She also wrote Autumn Song, a delightful book of short stories. While all this has certainly made her a name in the publishing world Ceane is most famous for her Sleuth Sisters Mysteries. This book series is a must read for Witches & "Muggles" alike! I want to tell you of her latest Sleuth Sister Mystery that is now available just in time for Samhain or Halloween. This latest in the series is titled The Witch's Secret. I absolutely love this book! MISTS OVER APPOMATTOX & Happy Birthday to the author Ceane O'Hanlon Lincoln!

2015-04-12T10:22:00.000-04:00

Hello Blogland! Yes, I know I have been missing in action once again. Some things one can't seem to avoid. Like having acute bronchitis & sinusitis for over two months. Then I had my Family Reunion over Easter weekend. Busy me but that's not why I have "poofed" my way back to the interwebz today. I am here to wish a dear friend a most wickedly awesome Birthday & to announce the release of another wonderful Audio-book by the Birthday Lady.

Mists Over Appomattox

You can contact her on her Facebook page to order this. I have included the link below.

Ceane's Facebook page

This Audio-book is a must have for anyone. The history buffs you know will thank you for a gift such as this. Students will be sure to get magickally good grades when listening to this while studying the history of our great nation in school.

Mists over Appomattox was produced by Veteran Voices of Pittsburgh just as her first Audio-book, A Sentimental Journey was.

Ceane has been referred to as a "State of the Heart" writer. Hear the story of the surrender at Appomattox that ended a war that nearly tore our nation apart in our early history. That happened 150 years ago this month!

This rag doll was the silent witness to the surrender parley that took place in the home of the McLean family. She also comes to life in Ceane's Sleuth Sisters Mysteries!

I highly recommend every book this talented Lady has written.

I devoured the fourth book of her Sleuth Sisters Mysteries in no time. Her writing is that hard to put down & walk away from!

I just love this photo of Ceane & her dear friend Shirley Jones. Both Pennsylvania natives are such talented ladies indeed.

Here is the link below to Ceane's Amazon page with most of her works on it. You owe it to yourself to get her books to read. From fiction to historical collections, I promise you will thank yourself for this.

A note to my friend:

Ceane, I hope you have the happiest birthday to date. You are a wonderful, caring person with the most extraordinary aura I have ever seen. I have been greatly blessed by having your friendship. I look forward to many more years of this amazing friendship. Our discussions on your books & giving you my take on things has been quite enjoyable & eye opening for me. Love & hugs to you my cherished friend. Oh & hurry up with the fifth book in your Sleuth Sisters Mysteries please! I can't wait to discuss things with you as you write & to read the finished product.

What's Cooking in the Cauldron-Fresh Green Beans *Touched by Elsa

2014-09-13T10:27:00.000-04:00

Hello Blogland! Hope your weekend is starting out magickal.

Today, in the Cauldron, I have cooked up some wickedly delicious fresh green beans given to me by one of the employees at my store. As luck would have it, the Hubs put them in the fridge in the exact spot that for some unknown reason, things freeze.

I say they are touched by Elsa.

In the photo below the dark green beans are the frozen ones. We have turned the fridge down but things still continue to freeze in that spot on the second shelf. I could see maybe the top shelf, but the second shelf?

Creepy.

But this did not foil my creative efforts for a yummy pot of beans for the Hubs to consume.

First I cut up some bacon. Now I prefer to cut the bacon when it is frozen. This bacon was in the freezer & not the second shelf of the fridge!

I cut off an end of the bacon while frozen & then make slices.

The bacon is so much easier to deal with this way in my opinion. No extra cutting is required. I toss these in the pan & the bite size pieces separate as they thaw & start to cook.

Add half of a medium sized onion chopped.

Cook them together in the pan.

While that magick is happening, I snap the beans & wash them.

Once the bacon & onion have cooked enough for the onion to become transparent & the bacon a bit crisp, add the beans.

I like to have them cook with the bacon & onion for just a bit before adding liquid.

My secret ingredient is chicken flavoring. I use a teaspoon for every cup of water. You don't want the flavoring to over power the beans, just add that special something to make the eater think, "Hmmmm....what is this I taste"?

Next I add a couple of shakes of crushed red pepper for that extra added kick!

Once they start to simmer, put the lid on but leave a bit open for the steam to escape.

Cook on low heat for about 20 minutes & if your family is like my Hubs, the will be gone in a flash. Way before you get the chance to take a picture of them on a plate!

One day maybe we will get rid of that "Elsa" spot in the fridge.

My Broom Over Blogland & Killer Allergies

2014-09-09T07:15:00.000-04:00

Morning Blogland! Well, I haven't taken the Broom out too much lately. He was starting to lose some bristles & that makes navigation a bit tricky.

(He is not the young thing he used to be)

So, we have been working on getting his bristles thicker (kinda like a hair weave for brooms) We took a small test run this morning to see how well the process is going. He was eager to fly around & see the sites. Here is where we went:

My Glass Easel

2014-09-08T04:30:00.000-04:00

Hey Blogland!

I was brushing up on some of my painting techniques yesterday & I wanted to share with you my Glass Easel.

I have a glass topped coffee table in my living room that I use to practice on.

Okay, I know that sounds odd at first but it's kinda cool actually.

In these photos, you can see the reflections of the paint bottles & the fact that I was really getting rusty since I haven't painted for a while.

What is so nifty about this is that just a little water on a paper towel cleans the glass after I have practiced. So once again it becomes just a glass topped table.

I am trying to get the chance to redo a table I purchased mega cheap at a yard sale a month or so ago & want to add single stroke petal flowers to it once the table is stripped & redone.

I need to spend a bit more time with my practice as it's been well over a year since I last did any painting.

If you have a glass topped table of any kind, give this a whirl! If I wanted to I could have left the design on &flipped the glass over. I might start doing this for the holidays! I am sure the grandchildren will get a kick out of it.

Let me know if you try this yourself!

Oh look! A funky pumpkin. lol

Whats Cooking in the Cauldron-Pork Chop Penne

2014-09-07T09:30:00.000-04:00

Hey Blogland! I've been in the kitchen cooking up some magical yummies again.

I want to share this wickedly delightful recipe with you.

Pork Chop Penne

The picture doesn't show it too well but this is a creamy tomato sauce recipe. I love to mix it up every so often from the traditional sauce.

I was in search of something to make for dinner & found three odd pork chops in the freezer.

The Hubs has been shopping lately & trying his hand at cooking too.

In all honesty he is doing rather well even though I now have NO ingredients to make a homemade sauce. So I had to settle for these & kick it up a notch or two.

I called my mortar & pestle into action to bruise the dry herbs to help boost the flavor level.

Basil & Thyme was what this recipe needed to take it from canned sauce to awesome sauce!

Don't be afraid of the spices. I used roughly a teaspoon of each for those two cans of ready made sauce.

(oh I shudder typing those words, ready made sauce)

The pork chops I cut into bite sized pieces & tossed into a pot with hot bacon grease to cook along with the Thyme & Basil.

When the pork was just about done I added about 1/4 cup chopped banana peppers & half a medium sized onion.

I suggest eating a few of these while chopping them up! We had mild in the fridge but you can always turn up the spice level to hard core by using the hot ones.

Also to give it some extra oomph, I added roughly a half cup of the banana pepper juice.

Next, I added the (shuddering again) canned sauce.

Bring this to a slow boil & now the magick begins!

I always add baking soda to my tomato recipes to kill the acidity & reduce the chance of heartburn.

Works wonders. Believe me!

Also this week, the Hubs is lactose intolerant so I used the lactose free milk he bought.

I used about a 1 1/2 cups.

I didn't have any tomato paste so I let this cook on a slow boil for about 45 minutes.

The Hubs loved this so much that he not only had it for dinner but for lunch & dinner the next day!

Diaper Bumble Bee

2014-08-10T09:55:00.001-04:00

Wickedly awesome morning to all of Blogland!

Today I want to show you my Diaper Bumble Bee that I made for a Bumble Bee themed baby shower recently.

I based it on a youtube video on how to make a diaper owl.

Revamped it to suit my needs for the occasion.

Here is the link, cause I won't bore you with how I made it.

(plus mine was chocked full of what some consider impolite wording)

Diaper Owl How To

After going through a rough time making the watermelon cradle for the same shower, I was ready to toss in the towel so to speak. I had the day before to make the shower cake (maybe I will post that later), the watermelon cradle & prepare for a visit from my youngest daughter & her family. Needless to say, there was some stress involved in that weekend. My daughter arrived at my house after a 4 hour drive maybe ten minutes after I left for the baby shower.

I had the weekend plus Monday & Tuesday off from work & yes, I could have used a vacation after that!

I searched high & low for a yellow onesie that was not for a baby girl, since the mom to be is having a boy.

No such luck.

I ended up getting a hooded duck bath towel by Carter's. I wrapped it around the body of my Bee & hid it around the back with the duck face facing inward so it could not to be seen. I added black ribbon strips on the body as well. also black pipe cleaner antennas.

He was a big hit at the shower. Almost didn't make him because of time issues but I am so glad I made myself go ahead with it.

Love the big black flower eyes I found a Michael's on clearance! They had clips on the back so I just clipped them to the diaper eyes I had formed. They fit magically!

Big giant rubber bands also helped in this creation. One has to give credit where credit is due you know!

Diaper wings really set it off too in my eyes.

Hope this gives you inspiration to try & create something magical & different. Don't say you can't until you try.

When MS Strikes

2014-08-09T10:07:00.000-04:00

Hey Blogland.

Getting on the serious side of things for a bit.

Multiple Sclerosis is a serious but much understood condition that can strike anyone at anytime if it is in your DNA just waiting to rear it's nasty head.

In 2012, my son-in-law, Randy Patrick Jr. first noticed some strange things going on with his body. After many tests he was diagnosed with MS in October of the same year. He is a brave man that is not about to let MS win if he can help it. Here is his story.

(This is Randy at the 2014 MS Bike Challenge)

(Yes, he has kept his sense of humor)

I woke up on July 1st, 2012 with numbness around my tailbone area that spread throughout my stomach after a few hours or so. I could tell if something was touching me, but it just didn’t feel normal. This was a Sunday so my doctor’s office was closed. I spoke to the on-call physician and was directed to the emergency room. I went through many questions and disclosed my normal activities. My blood work came back fine so they decided to do an MRI of my spine, which too came back fine. Hours later I was released and told to call my family doctor the next day.

The next day I woke up and the numbness had spread up to my chest and down through my legs. My feet were also very tingly. Back to the ER I went! I had another MRI (this time with contrast) of my spine and lumbar spine. That too showed nothing. They did more blood work, which still looked okay. I was released again and was told to make an appointment with a neurologist for the next day. My neurologist basically told me I must have injured myself from falling playing ice hockey. When I asked about the numbness all over, I was told I was fine and that it was all anxiety and it was all in my head! He did put me on oral steroids, just in case.

A few days later I started getting tingling in my fingertips, which prompted an MRI of my cervical spine (neck). This showed a lesion, which led to an MRI of the brain. This too showed a lesion. My neurologist all of a sudden went from “It’s all in your head” to “It’s MS; here pick a medicine,” and handed me pamphlets onDMDs. Every question I asked about other alternatives were immediately shot down. Could it be Lyme disease? “NO! Pick a med ASAP.”

Talk about a roller coaster ride of emotions! I didn’t know what to think. I’m going to be in a wheelchair — or worse! How am I going to take care of my five-year-old son? I was pretty bummed out. My lumbar puncture even came back perfectly normal, so all they had were two lesions from the MRIs.

Then I started doing my own research and found online forums. Talking to others affected by the disease helped me the most. I realized MS isn’t a death sentence and it’s manageable. There are options to help slow this thing down. We can fight this thing! I switched to a neurologist who specializes in MS and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He was able to sit down with me and explain why he too thought it was MS and explained each treatment option with me. I started on the oral pill Gilenya in February and have not had any side effects at all. All of my numbness has pretty much gone away. My hands still feel a little funny sometimes, but other than that I feel great. I’m trying to stay active; I play ice hockey once a week, have recently started playing racquetball, and I started jogging.

When people find out I have MS, I always hear, “I’m sorry to hear that.” I tell them “Don’t be. I’m not. I have MS for a reason, and I am fighting this thing!” As I mentioned earlier, I’ve received the most benefit from talking to others who are affected. I want to help others also. MS stops connections — connections stop MS! This is why I started the group “Must Stop MS!” I want to build connections, spread MS awareness, help others, and fight this thing! I do not want anyone else to feel the same way I did after being diagnosed. My group can be found on facebook at www.facebook.com/MustStopMS and on twitter at@MustStopMS.

Whats Cooking In The Cauldron- Fried Bread

2014-08-09T09:22:00.000-04:00

And Good Morning Blogland!

Today I will share with you another "Oh so tasty but not healthy" breakfast staple in my house.

My mother used to make this when I was little & it was one of my favorites. Mom called it Fried Bread.

Here is what you do:

Start with a box biscuit mix.

This is the store brand from Save-a-Lot. Works just as good as the named brand. Yup, this Witch saves money when she can.

Mix your biscuit mix & milk to a consistency not quit as firm as regular biscuit dough would be.

This is then added to a preheated nonstick skillet. (if you are truly still in the stone age & don't own one of those, lightly spray your skillet with cooking spray)

The heat should be medium. Not too hot or you will have a nice outside crust but uncooked inside.

Cover the skillet so the heat stays in the pan to help with an even cook for your bread.

Once you can see it starting to cook up nice on the bottom, flip it & continue cooking on the other side.

This recipe is forgiving, so if you are not so sure it is done in the middle, just cut it in half with the spatula for a peak.

It should look like the pic below when it is done.

This is thicker than a pancake but not as thick as a biscuit.

Cut it in half as pictured below & add your butter. Put the top slice back on top to help melt the butter.

Fry your eggs in bacon grease.

(no healthy stuff here!)

Add them to the plate & let your taste buds have a field day with the delightful taste!

I made this just the other day. I will let you know that once you start talking about this breakfast yummy after you have tried it, you will want it again right away. I have not eaten yet today & this is looking rather like something I will be cooking up before the hour is up!

What have you cooked up that is unhealthy but tasty as all get out lately? Don't be afraid to admit that you eat unhealthy in this day & age of Health Food Fanatics.

Be brave & shout "I eat unhealthy & I am not ashamed"!

Jiggly Jello Dessert

2014-07-09T10:10:00.001-04:00

Morning Blogland! I am posting this morning to share my Jiggly Jello Dessert with all of you. I made this for our cookout over the weekend with my son's family. I say it was a huge hit & oh so wickedly easy to do.

Doesn't it look delish? And you can whip it up just with the wave of a wand!

Ok, it took a little more than that. I will share with you the magick I used to create this plate of Dessertly Delight.

First off: Jello. It doesn't matter what brand you use. Just have a variety of flavors so you can have a variety of colored layers in your dessert.

I had two boxes of each Orange & Strawberry-Banana. Plus I had a box of Cranberry flavor. Didn't tell my son or the grandkids about the Cranberry flavor or they probably would not have eaten it. (picky, pests sometimes!) Layered on the magick & they had no clue!

For starters, totally ignore the directions on the box. You are going to use boiling water only for this & it will turn out like a charm.

Use 1 1/4 cups boiling water to dissolve each box of Jello. I recommend doing only one box at a time due to the steps required to create this masterpiece.

Once it is dissolved in the bowl, take 3/4 of a cup of this & put in your bowl or whatever mold you are using. Set it in the fridge once it gets room temperature (doesn't take long dearies)

You are going to set your timer for 15 minutes. While you are waiting for the Jello in the fridge to set up to the proper firmness prepare the remaining Jello.

Use 3 tablespoons of either sweet condensed milk or as I did French Vanilla Coffee Creamer.

This you will mix into the remaining Jello to give it a creamy effect & a wickedly awesome extra flavor punch!

When the 15 minutes is up, remove your bowl or mold from the fridge & add the creamy layer on top of the clear layer. Put it back in the fridge & reset that timer for 15 minutes. Then move on to your next flavor of Jello & repeat the steps.

Be sure to stick to the 15 minute set time for each layer so they adhere properly. If you let it firm up too much there is a chance your layers will slide apart once removed from your mold.

The above pic is with clear & creamy Strawberry-Banana layers & clear & creamy Orange layers.

Once I was done adding my clear & creamy Cranberry layers I repeated the Strawberry-Banana & Orange layers.

This actually turned out to be a fun dessert to make.

I made this on Friday & let it set in the bowl in the fridge until Sunday morning before I removed it from the glass bowl. Just a few hours or overnight would be enough to let this totally firm up before serving.

Before attempting removal, set your mold in warm (not hot) water for a few minutes. You really can't tell from this pic but I had the water almost up to the rim of the bowl. I filled the sink after putting the bowl in so I would know when I had enough water in the sink & not risk any water coming over the sides of the bowl & onto the Jello.

Do not use a knife to get the Jello away from your mold! You will run the risk of ruining the sides of your creation.

Here it is once again just out of the bowl.

With a sliced removed it looks even more delectable!

Video!

Here it is on a plate! Looks sooooooo good, yes?

For all your hard work you will be rewarded with happy faces & magickally emptied plates.

Happy face.

Almost empty plate.

My grandson Bradley is having surgery today to correct a cleft palate. Here he is this morning on his way to the hospital.

He is always happy no matter what he faces. He is the bravest little guy I know. He will be monitored during surgery because he has mini seizures that are only noticed when he stammers or stutters. In his nine short years he has been through some tough times. Surgery at 6 weeks old to correct a blocked stomach valve, losing both front teeth at two when he fell into a coffee table, fluid in his ears that the doctors waited too long to correct resulting in him being deaf in his left ear (his equilibrium was so bad he could run down a straight hallway & bounce off the walls like a pinball in a machine) & the poor thing has terrible vision in his right eye. Hopefully this surgery will allow his front teeth to finally come down from his gums. He has been without front teeth for 7 years. It will be so different to see this child with his front teeth!

He loves Batman & the color blue. The request has been made by him that I create this Jello Dessert in blue. He will be on a liquid diet for two weeks before moving onto a pudding like consistency diet for four weeks after that. Positive energies & prayers for him will be most welcome!

New Gadget: Frozen Fruit Smusher

2014-07-06T05:30:00.000-04:00

Hello Blogland Lovelies!

Today I want to share with you my newest kitchen gadget. It's a frozen treat maker by Kitchen Living that uses frozen fruits.

No milk needed or sugar syrup.

I got this at the local Aldi Supermarket in town. It was $29.99 so I thought, why not!

Once you freeze your fruits, it says to let them thaw for at least 15 minutes. I tried it with the strawberries, but they require a bit longer. More like 25 minutes. Don't want to burn up the motor in this bad boy!

It's not he most quiet machine ever made but the results were wickedly awesome & fooled my son's two youngest into thinking they were eating ice cream.

I tried it with Bananas also. Bananas don't require too long of a thaw out time. Apples were just right at 15 minutes thaw.

This machine is not that hard to clean after use. It's a breeze actually. The frozen treat maker will be used quite often in my house.

I also created some yummylicious popsicles by using some soda & French Vanilla Coffee Creamer.

Another yummy shortcut to a favorite treat is to add the favored creamer to a glass of root beer & POOF, a refreshing drink that tastes like a root beer float! One of my all time favs.

I made root beer & orange cream popsicles.

My granddaughter Jessica highly approves of these.

This little lady is a very picky eater. I made her the banana frozen treat & she devoured it. Then she wanted to try the strawberry & made quick work of that too.

Keep on enjoying your long weekend my dears.

Keep it safe.

What's Cooking in The Cauldron? (Not For The Faint of Heart)

2014-07-05T09:54:00.002-04:00

Blogland! I hope all of you that celebrate July 4th had a wickedly awesome one. Also to those of you who don't, I hope yesterday was wickedly awesome for you as well.

It was another day that the Hubs went to work & I had the house all to myself.

This makes me one:

Don't get me wrong, I adore my hubs but peace & quiet is high on my list too! When he is home, he likes the radio on & I truly believe he has this urgent need to hear himself talk. lol

He will be downstairs talking to himself & I am always asking what he said because I think he is talking to me.

Anyway...........off to work he goes & off goes the radio!

My belly says, "feed me". So off I go into the kitchen to make some totally delicious & unhealthy food.

I usually run to breakfast foods when I am cooking for myself. Breakfast can be an easy meal to prepare.

I opened the cupboard & spied the container of Grits.

Not the instant, one minute cook time in the microwave packets. NO. I only have the kind you can do on the stove top. Yes, they also supply a microwave method of cooking now. I just pretend that info does not exist.

Grits are not totally unhealthy to eat. That is before I get a hold of them!

Follow the directions for which ever portion size you wish to make. I always put a big glob of butter in the water & salt too.

When the water starts to boil, just add the grits & cook.

You don't have to stir this constantly. Just every so often to be sure the grits are not clumping together. Witches love to stir things, so I stir frequently.

While the grits are cooking, ( I suggest a lid on those bad boys cause they do love to pop out of the pot all over the stove top & you) I get out my magick mug of bacon grease & cook some eggs. Over medium for me.

One busted yolk. No worries, the cats will eat that & love the treat!

Now, the grits are done & transferred to the plate & a good sized dollop of butter is added.

The real stuff my pretties. Not the margarine or spread.

Top with your fried eggs! You can mix them all together with the grits as I do. Oh what a delightful treat for my wicked taste buds! You can add toast if you like. I prefer this meal just the way it is.

So whip this up in your kitchen one day & let me know how quickly your arteries harden!

The Cat's Pajamas Art Studio

2014-06-29T10:57:00.000-04:00

Hello once again Blogland. I am excited today to share with you one of the newest shops in North East, Maryland.

The Cat's Pajamas Art Studio!

Run by the talented Erica Dewitt.

This shop will excite you so much, it'll knock your green & black striped socks right off!

Now I knew Erica long before she became the proprietress of this eclectic Art Studio. She went to school with my daughters & I had the pleasure of watching this lovely girl grow up into such a talented woman.

She has been making these lovely Gourd Lamps & Bird Houses for a while now & this helped push her into the direction of starting her own unique shop.

Here is a sampling of some of her lamps & such.

Staring with her Gourd Birdhouses.

These little beauties have me cackling with delight!

I have seen her work up close as both of my girls have some of Erica's creations in their own homes.

I so adore the designs on this lamp!

This just screams "talented" to me!

The next photo is of her latest creation, the Turtle Gourd Lamp. I am in awe over her creative skills.

The time going into the planning of this whimsical lamp was a snap for Erica I am sure. She seems to have the eye for those things!

Just look how cute he is!

I want to feed him some lettuce & grass & paint his little turtle toenails! lol

Come on, how wickedly awesome is this? One of a kind & his face looks so real.

Her shop is full of items by various artists & creators in the area. She also sells these wonderful candles by Tracy Patrick creator of "This Little Light of Mine" candles. I have first had knowledge of how scrumptious these candles are. I have a few in my own home. They are the creations of my youngest daughter, Tracy Patrick!

Here she is with her joy, her son Carson. Carson of course is one of my enchanting grandchildren!

This Little Light of Mine candles come in a wide variety of scents & styles. Tracy makes them in tea cups, wine glasses, traditional jars & more! The scents she uses are true & long lasting.

The Cat's Pajamas shop will even put together a gift basket for you!

Oh look! There are my daughter's candles in that one! Looks like homemade soap too.

The Cat's Pajamas now has their own signature bath & body products created by Elaine & Betsy!

Doesn't that get you wanting to soak in a nice hot tub to rejuvenate yourself?

Erica must get her creative side from her mother, Yvonne Peirce. Yvonne creates handcrafted jewelry that is also sold in her daughter's shop!

They look wickedly fashionable don't they?

Erica has a wide variety of art work such as these whimsical ocean themed pictures by Cassandra Welker

I am so loving these. I never thought I'd want to cuddle with an octopus but just look at how cute he is!

And this Maryland Blue Crab by Cassandra would make an attractive addition to your beachy decor!

Kitties! Oh my. This sets my heart on fire. Love Kitties! Sharon Biemer is the talent behind these must have pieces.

Treats for your feet! Just try not to want a pair of these clever flip flops wrapped with yarn by Dawn Watson. Go ahead, try. I bet it doesn't work.

In sizes for girls & ladies. Everyone can have a pair of these!

Hmmm.....I wonder if she makes them in black? What? Witches love having comfy feet too!

Window frame photographs Don't ya just love it?

Robert Parlier has done a wickedly fantastic job with these. Oh, I could just snatch them all up.

I mean......look!

And look!

And look some more!

My happiness level is about to bubble over.

I want them all & I want these too:

John Werners creates these intriguing wooden candle holders from drift wood. They would be a most welcome addition to any fashionable Witches alter or just your mantle or side table!

Of course I am also eyeballing that gorgeous table they are sitting on!

How much for the table Erica?

Wow. Just look at the character these pieces have.

More delightful work by Sharon Biemer.

And look, there is the table I want again!

I could just go on all day about the wonderful items for sale in the Cat's Pajamas Art Studio!

You have to make it a stop on your travels if you are in the area or just driving through Maryland.

It will be a stop well worth your time.

Oh.....I want one of everything! Ok, more that one. I want all of it!

But since I know I can't, I will share the address with you.

Bunnehs, Bunnehs Everywhere!

2014-06-23T05:30:00.000-04:00

Blogland! Hows it going? I wanted to share with you a couple of photos of my neighbors. They are always hanging out in my back yard. I'm cool with that though. They use our picnic table, lay out under our trees & generally make themselves right at home.

When it rains, this little one uses the picnic table as an awning! Too cute right?

When I came home from work on Friday, this Bunneh greeted me! He look so relaxed. It made my day better & I can honestly say, save a few people from the wrath of my VooDoo Doll collection. (wink)

This particular Bunneh has dug itself a groove in which to lay in. Looks pretty comfy to me, how about you?

They are not afraid of us since they have been using our yard as theirs for quite a while. The Hubs & me always talk to them & give them water & food.

This one is curious as to what I was saying to him. I told him he looked pretty relaxed.

See him all sprawled out in his glory! We have quite a few that hang out in our yard. The Hubs loves it when it is "playtime". They chase each other & hop all around doing flips & such. It is a great time watching these little bugger enjoy themselves.

Some mornings as I am leaving for work there are the Bunnies, tons of birds & butterflies all around my yard. I feel as if I am walking out of my house & into a Disney flick!

What kind of Mother Nature's creatures hang out at your house? I'd love to see some photos that you all could post with the beauty of Nature as the theme!

Whats cooking in the Cauldron?

2014-06-22T05:30:00.000-04:00

Hello again Blogland! Today I want to share a simple yet wickedly delicious breakfast with you. I have weekends off but the Hubs most times has to work them. (miss him but so love the quiet time)

One Sunday morning, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted for breakfast. Something traditional but with a twist. So, I went digging through the fridge. I found eggs, cheddar cheese, french onion dip & a packet of sauce from Taco Bell.

I mixed up my eggs & french onion dip. No need for milk. The dip will make your eggs oh so creamylicous!

Next for a glob of bacon grease in the pan.

What?!?!?!? I'm going for flavor here not healthy! Plus, when concocting a magickal breakfast dish you should always used tried & true ingredients. It's like in the Witches Code or something.

I added the cheddar cheese once the egg mixture stared to firm up & mixed it all together to finish cooking.

Last step was the Taco Bell sauce on top of the cooked eggs. I will be doing this again my Pretties! So much flavor on a plate!

Added some toast of course. Hmmmmm....I wonder if I have more Taco bell sauce packets in the fridge? I know I have dip & cheese. The Hubs leaves for work soon & I just might be making some magic in the kitchen once again.

Give it a try. You don't need training in Magick to whip this delightful breakfast up!

Twenty-five Cent Planters

2014-06-21T10:20:00.000-04:00

Morning my Blogland Sweeties! Back in April I scored big time with trunk load full of Halloween stuff from a Gabriel Bros. sidewalk sale for only $12.00!

Yes, I know, what a wickedly awesome deal! Please, please save the applause for later. Here is what my overstuffed trunk looked like:

See those adorable purple cauldrons? I cackled with glee when I spotted those for only a quarter a piece! In fact, everything I purchased that day was only a quarter. But more on that later!

I had a wickedly special plan for those cauldrons.

Planters!

Yes, I was going to wave my wand & "poof" planters. Well, okay actually I had to punch a hole in the bottom of these beauties to transform them into planters. One needs proper drainage for planters you know.

I used gardening shears to punch the holes on the bottom of the cauldrons. I had soooo much fun. It was almost as awesome as pushing pins into a Voodoo Doll!

Next step was placing some rocks in the bottom of the cauldrons turned planters. If you remember the curse on my house when we bought it, I had 5 tons of river rock in my front yard. (shudders) So I had some rocks left over to do this with. Then, I added some potting soil & I was ready for my plants!

I added some Salvia & Impatiens. The Salvia I scored from Lowes at a marked down price of $1.00 each. All they needed was a little magic & a place to call home.

The replanting was under way!

I decided to place these on my front steps. The Hubs loves them. He didn't think he would but once he saw them & I waved my hand at his head.......the rest is history. Bwahahahahahaha!

Well would you look at that. My front steps need repainted. Gonna get the Hubs on that project pretty darned soon. Yes, that is more left over river rock invading my photo. They maybe transformed into something else at a later date.

I am so happy with the way my plan worked out for these cauldrons & purple yet! My most favorite color! Now I have a Halloween reminder on my porch all Summer long!

(cackling here again!)

My Broom's Favorite Facebook Pages

2014-06-08T09:31:00.000-04:00

Morning Blogland! Well, I survived yet another birthday this past Friday. Had a wickedly awesome day thanks to family, co-workers, friends & Facebook friends! The Hubs took me to dinner & I indulged in Lobster & wine. My crew at Tobacco World got me this cake:

Enough about turning older. Soon I will be considered a Crone! Nothing wrong with that, I'm just not ready yet.

On to the reason for the post. My Broom has been a bit touchy since we haven't been on many travels lately. He has been nagging me to share some of his favorite Facebook pages which are loaded with great ideas for crafting & recipes. So here we go!

Confessions Of Crafty Witches

This FB page is chocked full of great ideas & links to were they come from with instructions or recipes.....whatever. Such as:

Spoonful.com

This too cute "little grass house" made from colorful sponges.

This makes me cackle with glee!

Sprinkle Bakes

These Irish Cream Hot Fudge Cupcakes are sure to cast just the right spell to make someone fall in love with your baking skills!

Prudent Baby

A Watermelon Keg! This is just wickedly adorable. Also on this link is a recipe for Watermelon Agua-Fresca. Looks like I will be putting this brew together soon myself!

Home Design

This FB page has some wickedly awesome idea as well. I can spend hours going over the ideas they share. (this aggravates my Broom too)

Just look!

Goods Home Design

40 + tables made from pallets! All of these ideas have me wanting to go a hunting for as many pallets as I can carry on my Broom.

Our Daily Ideas

What?!?!?!?!? Wow! This from Our Daily Ideas showed me a trick or three that I have used to wow & amaze my friends! Of course I tell them that my Witchy Instinct led me to do these things!

Don't don't tattle on me or I will have to turn you into a toad!

Kidding! (not)

Epbot

Genius idea! These easy to do little Shoe Hangers are too cute & what great use for those wire hangers that are so out of fashion these days.

Goods Home Design

Another one from Goods Home Design. Epic win in my book. Now I wish I had saved the old tires from my car! I know I'd have a least four of these babies in my house or on my patio.

My trusty Broom has lots more favorite Facebook pages that I will share with you at a later date. I'm off to create magic in my front yard this morning with some lovely plants I bought yesterday from Lowes.

Boys Don't Do Princesses!

2014-06-07T11:35:00.000-04:00

My son & his family recently enjoyed a week at Disney. They had planned the trip because my daughter-in-law's father & step-mom lived close by. Unfortunately, his work took him from Florida to Texas & they had to move the weekend of the trip. But, the trip was already paid for & off they went. My son, his wife & their three kids.

One thing my son should have known. Boys don't do Princesses! My son told his middle child, Bradley to go get his photo taken with Belle after a Story time with Belle interactive event. The photo that resulted is this:

I love this picture. I have to admit, I laugh whenever I look at it. Bradley is the master of the facial expression!

Hmmm......I wonder who he get it from?

His dad I am sure.

(who yes, got it from me)

All three kids had a wonderful time. Ryan, who is 15, Bradley, 9 & Jessica, 4.

Jessica is into the Princesses in a big way. She went to Disney with every Princess dress there is in her suitcase. Plus, as an added bonus, my son & his wife got her the Minnie outfit she is wearing in this photo once they got to Disney.

Oh no! She isn't spoiled! (cough cough)

One can be mistaken for a Disney Princess when the Princess has gone on break.

Here is Jessica filling in for Sophia the First.

Every Princess fill in knows that when the real Princess does show back up, you must keep up with the regal attitude!

Now 15 yr. old young men must keep the "cool" persona going at ALL times. Such as:

Nothing says "cool" more than cheesing it up for the camera while your mother is behind you screaming her head off!

Or looking totally bored in the second row while the rest of the car looks to be having fun.

Always maintain the coolness even when your hair is being blown & you are sitting in the backseat with your mother & and some other folks you don't know!

Back to the master of the facial expression. Bradley during his Jedi training makes me think of a Harry Potter meets Star Wars.

I mean, this IS some serious stuff.

Now Bradley is totally deaf in his left ear. So when the move was to duck, he heard jump.

He took Darth Vader & the other Jedi Knight by surprise with that move! Kudos to the Park Photographer for catching Bradley in mid air.

Of course girls can be Jedi Warriors too. The trick is to wow the dark side with your adorableness.

Darth Vader stands no chance against this young Jedi.

Taking a bit of time out for a family photo before getting back to more adventures!

Someone got into a bit of trouble while waiting to meet Mickey Mouse & decided to hide.

Mickey showed her that two can play that game!

When Mickey beckons, you don't turn him down.

Even if you are still in a bit of a bad mood.

Not too close Mouse or Disney is gonna be short a star!

Jessica went from homicidal to graceful.

Nothing cures the negative thoughts better than showing your feminine side with Minnie!

More family togetherness with Chef Mickey!

Tinkerbell is sure to be a kid pleaser.

Becoming Rapunzel's new BFF

So, just remember when at Disney, girls & Princesses is a big yes!

But Boys Don't Do Princesses!

All the above photos were done by Disney photographers. I would like to take a second & thank all of them who took wonderful photo memories of my son's three children & also the people who portray the Disney characters. They were all so great with the kids. Yes, it is their job & they do it very well.
