This guy is one of the chip leaders. But we don't know who he is.

So towards end of play, Gavin Smith tipped us off about one of the Euro big stacks who was refusing to tell anyone in the so-called poker “media” his name. Just wouldn’t do it. We watched as person after person approached him, asked for his name, and he wouldn’t tell. Not that it’d be hard to find out, but this Euro just drew a line in the sand and refused to divulge his name. Either that or he doesn’t speak a lick of English and didn’t know what the fuck anyone was saying to him.

Anyway, he’s friend with Peter Eastgate, so if you know who he is, please comment.

With 185 in the field, we’re down to two girls remaining for the Last Woman Standing Cup^TM.

Nichoel “StatsAKA” Peppe is the big stack of the two remaining females with 1,630,000. According to Andrew Feldman’s Poker Edge Podcast , Peppe is a cash game pro from SoCal who is married to Tad Jergens (this guy ).

Also remaining is Leo Margets from Barcelona with around 500,000. Leo, who is friends with our favorite Spanish blog, Poquer-Red, shared with us her thoughts on being the Last Woman Standing and playing in the Main Event in the above vid.

UPDATE: Both Last Women Standing, Leo Margets and Nichoel Peppe, are at the same table today.

2009 WSOP Main Event Update: It’s Getting Interesting

Day 5 of the 2009 WSOP Main Event wrapped early, with 185 remaining.

Warren Zackey will hold the overnight chip lead, stacked at 4,977,000. He’s followed by Kasper Cordes with 4,295,000.

Lots of big named pros are still alive. Among them are Tom Schneider (3,168,000), Fabrice Soulier, a frog (1,450,000), Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, a frog (1,400,000), Phil Ivey (1,380,000), Theo Tran (1,205,000), Blair Hinkle (1,100,000), Joe Sebok (990,000), Peter Eastgate (927,000), Prahlad Friedman (760,000), Dennis Phillips (735,000), Kenny Tran (700,000), David Benyamine (640,000), Antonio Esfandiari (430,000), Lou Diamond Phillips (390,000), and the spectacularly-breasted J.C. Tran (360,000).

UPDATE: Lou Diamond Phillips was actually eliminated on the last hand of the night. Chaaaaveeeezzz! A moving tribute to LDP here.

Will Nichoel Peppe claim the 2009 WSOP Last Woman Standing Cup (TM)?

Some decent storylines developing at the 2009 WSOP Main Event. Here’s what we’re looking at today:

Can former ME champs Joe Hachem (490,000) and Peter Eastgate (397,000) make November Nine^TM runs?
With only a handful of women left in the field (we’ve seriously found about 6-7, hopefully a few Caseys, Jamies, and Euros with girly-sounding names end up being chicks so we can at least get to double-digits), who will win the Last Woman Standing Cup^TM. Currently, Nichoel Peppe, a woman, is the biggest stacked of the females, just shy of 900k.
Is this the year Phil Ivey makes it to the final table? He’s come close before, and has never looked more focused. He currently top 20 in chips with over 1.2M.
Lou Diamond Phillips? Really?
Will fan-favorite and PokerRoad.com’s Joe Sebok continue his run?

Kara Scott has her sights set on the Last Woman Standing Cup(TM). Unfortunately we don't know the exact number of woman left yet as too many French names could be chick names.

Day 4 of the 2009 WSOP Main Event wrapped, with a ton of big names among the 407 remaining.

Matt Affleck is the overnight chip leader, stacked at 1,819,000. He’s followed by Ludovic Lacay of fuck you France with 1,608,000.

Top pros over one million in chips include Blair Hinkle (1,399,000), Phil Ivey (1,276,000), Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier (1,250,000), and Theo Tran (1,000,000).

Also remaining are Nick Schulman (746,000), Dan Harrington (659,000), Lou Diamond Phillips (607,000), Joe Hachem (570,000), Dennis Phillips (414,000), Joe Sebok (412,000), David Benyamine (405,000), potential Last Woman Standing Cup^TM winner Kara Scott (399,000), and Peter Eastgate (397,000).
