The fine weather and the great condition of the golf course at the weekend showed in the scores in both the gents and the ladies closing competitions.

O2’s 4th Annual Charity Golf Day In Aid Of Marie Curie 2015

On a very windy Sunday 31st May 15 teams did battle this year for the O2 Charity Cup in aid of Marie Curie.

The event this year was very well supported and a grand sum of £1,461 pounds was raised for this most worthy of causes.

Once again the winning team were from the O2 store made up of C. Hawkins, R. Hawkins, N. Fraser and N. Fraser the younger.

Second place went to Mr Gordon Smith and his team who had travelled down from Irvine to play so thank you to them, and third place was taken by Mr Ian Fisher and his team from the Tigh Na Mara Hotel who also donated a prize for the raffle – thanks.

I would like to thank all our partners from the O2 store who supported us again this year with prizes along with all the local businesses who yet again dug deep into their pockets to supply us with great prizes either to give away for the golf or to raffle, the raffle made over £500 on it’s own so thank you one and all for your contributions.

And a huge thank you to Wigtownshire County Golf Club who let us hold this event every year and to Jimmy and Lesley Caldwell who cater for the many mouths that need feeding.

The event next year will be at the same time and with the interest we had shown this year I feel sure that next year we will raise even more money.

O2 Annual Charity Day

O2 3^rd Annual Charity Golf Day in Aid Of Marie Currie Cancer

The competition was held Sunday 17^th August in the worst weather conditions we have had in the area for some time, 10 teams braved the weather and much respect must go to them for playing in such awful conditions.

The competition this year was won by the team from the O2 store consisting of C. Hawkins, R. Hawkins, Neil Fraser and Neil Fraser Jnr with a combined score of 67 points.

O2 would like to say a big thank you to some of our sponsors this year: P and O Ferries, Samsung Mobile, East By West Retail, 20-20 Accessories, Tigh Na Mara, Craigenelda Hotel, The Wok Inn, Sony Mobile, Portpatrick Golf Club, Irvine Bogside Golf Club, LG Mobile and of course Wigtownshire County Golf Club for allowing the event to be played there.

All these businesses donated prizes for the raffle which on it’s own raised over £500.

The pictures show the winning team receiving their prize and cup and Chris the Store Leader at the O2 store handing over the cheque to Beryl from Marie Currie.

Gents Club Championship

Perfect weather conditions greeted our would be champions as they started thier first 18 holes on Saturday morning (28th June 2014).

Defending Champion Ian Johnstone has had a good season so far and was hoping to continue his good form for one more day.

The early leader in the club house was Michael Cowie with 75 closely followed by Bill Milby on 76 – then true to form – Ian Johnstone posted a fine 70

With most players improving on their first 18 holes, Micheal and Bill both scored 73 leaving Ian just needing to shoot 77 or less – and he didn’t disappoint with a cool 71.

A Big Thank You from all who played to the Greenkeepers. The course was in perfect condition with some tight pin positions.
