As the Renaissance progressed, changes in the realms of economics are evident. One can clearly see that societies in Europe were flourishing. When compared to the middle ages, 'Venice, Genoa, and Milan grew rich on commerce between 1050 and 1300'(McKay, 408). During this age of 'rebirth', the people of the renaissance were able to acquire new wealth and achieve prosperity through trade and banking.(Sherman, 12) This was especially true in Florence, as the 'Florentine bankers and merchants acquired control of papal banking'(McKay, 408). Moreover, due to the black death, the common man was able to claim higher positions in the guilds. This resulted in new opportunities for the common man. Although one might tend to think that the rich merchants and bankers had all the prosperity, they must recognize the fact that in all societies there is always a dominating upper-class. Since the Renaissance men were trying to emulate the ancient times,

SOCIAL: No because women did not have a Renissance + only like 1/100 of them had it therefore only a small majority of society could be reflected from this so called "Renissance."

YES! The Renaissance DID HAPPEN. There are a myraid amount of examples how there were changes from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. I'll start listening some key bullet points.
-The Ambassadors: (Sherman 13) transitioning from just believing in the Church
-Petrach (M412) "although all alike are on the road to happiness, certainly the more educated path is more glorious" (S5)
-humanism: emphasized the individual (M413)
-education was not only for religious and private purposes(M413)
-Gutenburg: more expansion in reading materials (M418)
-The Prince: more are able to read what Machiavelli has to say. New form of thinking. (S7)
-Perry (p.3) figures out problems with science

POLITICAL: The church still had a major aspect in the religious word with the Renissance starting in Italy. You can obviously see that the power in the MA was in Italy and in the Renissance the power is still in Italy. Coincidence or Fact? More fact because there are many factors like the wealth from the chruch, growth in people reading literature.

1. Women held no power-- inferiority (Mck,381-82) (433) [Weak point]
2. Babylonian Captivity-- the people feared the pope (Mck 387) (Prince 27)
[pope is now a player – weak since they are becoming more modern]
3. Warfare of Italy-- comparable to the 100 years war, showing the feudalistic politics.

Hello! Welcome to the harshdebate blog.

Backgrounds!!!

To get a sweet background like this, go here and here. To get the wallpaper I have, go here!
Now on the top toolbar System>Preference>Appearance Click on the Themes tab and click Install... [navigate to where you downloaded the wallpapers and install! Simple!

GDMs aka [Login Windows]

GDM is what greats you when you log in! Get great GDMs here and here. I strongly recommend getting 4 or more GDMs and to carefully read the comments for bugs.
Once you download the GDMs go to the top toolbar System>Administrator>Login Window. Enter your password! Then click the Local Tab and click on Add...
Navigate to your GDM and load them up!
Make Theme: Random form selected [this is in the drop down menu that orriginally says Selected only]
This will make the GDMs random, a nice touch! [Now you can quit out of that]

Customize That Toolbar!!!

NOTE: My toolbar is not expanded [saves room] and has a cool bar.

First, to get a nice and easy bar to use, open a terminal [Accessories>Terminal] and then type one at a time:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimmie
Next, go to your top toolbar and right click on the open space. Click on Add to Panel and search for gimmie. Add it and you have a much better search bar now.
To make your Panel take less space and/or to make it change color, Right click the open space on the dock, This time select Preferences and uncheck expand! <Background Tab to see the color options.

Now for the AWN

Awn is a awesome mac dock that works perfectly!Get awn from the terminal [Accessories>Terminal]
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install awn-manager avant-window-navigator
Run AWN by pressing and typing avant-window-navigator
To make AWN run every time the computer starts, Open System>Prefrence>Sessions and add this command avant-window-navigator

Finally Gnome do makes everything easy!

Follow these instructions!!!
Where ever you see a $ that means open a terminal and type that command!

"If you are upgrading from an old installation of Do, please be sure to completely remove your old version.

$ sudo aptitude purge gnome-do gnome-do-plugins gnome-do-plugin-rhythmbox

and remove the Do plugins configuration directory

$ rm -rf ~/.local/share/gnome-do/plugins/

Once you have removed your old installation, or if this is your first time, follow these instructions.

Add the Gnome Do PPA Repository to your sources list. (See Repositories/Ubuntu).
