Oh my goodness... did I really have such a crazy last couple of months that I completely forgot to ever blog about my photo session with the incredible Prochazka family? Yes, I really did. I'm so sorry!

We had so much fun exploring Bernheim Forest together; sweet little K and E were just a delight to play with and photograph, and I very much enjoyed getting to know their parents, as well. This photo session doubled as K's four-year pictures, so I got quite a bit more of him, although I could have photographed sweet little E all day as well!

What can you say when your little sister-in-law falls in love with a Godly man who loves her like crazy and commits to loving her for the rest of their lives? You praise the Lord, that's what.

These two are so in love that their giddiness is contagious. They laughed, giggled, and were generally silly through the entire session because that's just who they are. The pictures say it all, really.

Last month, I had the great privilege of photographing the investiture ceremony for the honorable Judge Stout. It was SO unlike anything I'd ever done before, and I was SO nervous before the ceremony, but I wound up having a lot of fun. (Of course, how could you not with that family?)

When I was a sophomore in college, I co-taught a 10th grade girls' Sunday school class. Beautiful Kelli, with her sharp wit and passion for the Lord, was in that class, and couldn't stand an obnoxious boy in the youth group named Chandler. When I asked what had happened since I'd seen them last, Chandler said, "I grew up." I love that kind of honesty!

They have both grown up (okay, we all have... they really aren't much younger than me) into a beautiful family with a precious little girl and a heart that beats together for God's work in Africa. Hearing them talk about the mission work they want to do there after seminary was inspiring and encouraging, and I know that the Lord is going to do great things through them.

The three of them, along with their sweet weimaraner, Fenway (Why yes, they're big baseball fans; how did you know?), went on an adventure with me around downtown Louisville and then a nearby park. The urban setting of downtown was very different from anything else I'd done so far, and I was a little nervous about having a toddler and a dog, but I LOVE their pictures and I loved getting to spend some time catching up with them.

The Dandeneau family is technically three families, since both daughters are married to wonderful husbands. Add in sweet little W, and we had a lot of fun. They were definitely my biggest group so far, but were also my easiest! It was kind of a nice change of pace to not have to be chasing the twenty-something around the yard like I do two-year-olds. We took pictures all around the parents' house, including some Christmasy inside ones, and then headed over to the quad at MSU for a change of scenery. W enjoyed exploring the campus and it was a beautiful fall day, which we all enjoyed tremendously.

Wow, I've been so much busier with photography than I ever expected to be just starting out! This is a fabulous problem to have, and I am so thankful for each family who trusts my camera and me with the preservation of their memories. Being so busy, however, means that a few non-essential things like blogging and facebooking my recent sessions have kind of fallen off my radar.

Well, I'm no less busy now, but I'm finally taking the time to get some pictures of a few gorgeous families up here, starting with the lively and charming Williams family. I love Jen's style and the way she pulled her family's outfits together. The kids were precious and energetic and were so much fun to chase around with a camera. Michael didn't get off work until later, so he only made it for our last location, but we made up for it with some fabulous pictures there, if I do say so myself.

I met the Cunninghams out on Kory's grandfather's farm. Katie had tried to tell me what an interesting place it is, and what an interesting guy Kory's grandfather is, but I really didn't know what it was going to be like until I got there.

As I got out of the car at the address they'd given me and began timidly looking around the yard full of curiosities, a long, tall, old country boy came out of the garage and said, "You must be the photographer!"

I knew immediately that I liked him. He reminded me a lot of my dad, except for the long and tall part. He proudly showed me around his yard-- the old smokehouse that his grandmother built, the muscadine vine that he's grown so that it makes a little gazebo-like place where he keeps his harvested pumpkins (and his grandkids call the "pumpkin forest"), and the funny little hunting cabin trailer that he'd built himself. Soon, Kory's mom arrived, and a little bit later, the Cunninghams.

I love this family so much, and I loved getting to hang out with them and photograph them having fun together. I also just have to point out that I didn't edit any of their eyes AT ALL. They all just naturally have eyes that blue and sparkly. It's pretty incredible, really.

Louisville Family Photographer | The Baise Family

Last weekend, I had the privilege of photographing an amazing and gorgeous family-- the Baises. Danielle and I actually met our freshman year in college when we lived on the same floor and both moved in early for sorority recruitment. We didn't know each other really well, and quickly lost touch because we had little in common at the time.

Since then, the Lord came into Danielle's life and changed her in a way that only He can! Several years later, we reconnected on facebook and have been watching each other's families grow through pictures and status updates. Now that both of our husbands are in seminary, she contacted me to reconnect and to get some pictures of her precious family. Of course, I was more than excited!

I cannot say enough amazing things about how much fun this sweet family was to photograph. Mady did awesome and had a blast playing "tea cup party" (as she called it) with a tea set that was Danielle's when she was a little girl.

Let me tell you something. You will rarely come across a family with as much spunk as the Ashby family. They are some very fun folks to be around, and the same goes for taking their pictures. Sweet little Ethan wasn't having the best day (and NOBODY understands that better than this mama), so we decided to make the shoot very playful and light. We had a great time playing at their house and in the park, and I even managed to sneak in some pictures while we were at it. I love this family so much, and it was great to be able to capture them loving each other and loving life.

Something special for you to notice is that the book in the last pictures is the same book (new copy) that Jim learned to read on when he was a little boy. He found a copy of it at a bookstore and Ethan practically has the whole thing memorized already! It was so cute to watch them read it together.

It's funny how God works sometimes. I met Reuben's mom two weeks ago on the day AFTER her due date. As we talked, we realized we had a lot in common. Reuben's parents, before they were parents at all, had been to Moldova several times! What a blessing that was to be able to share some of those memories with someone else who loves that country as much as I do!

We also discovered that Reuben's mom appreciates good pictures about as much as I love to take good pictures. What a perfect fit, right? So, of course, I was thrilled to sneak over into their apartment one day after Reuben finally joined us on this side of mama's belly. And, of course, it had nothing to do with the fact that he is so tiny and perfect and handsome and cuddly and precious and... oh my. To say I enjoyed myself would be an understatement.

This weekend I had the joy of photographing some friends of ours. I worked with Ashley back in the day before Jude and Harper had joined our families. It's great to see how the Lord has led both her and Matt on the journey that they are on.

Sidenote: I just learned, after fretting over how washed out and dull my pictures looked once I uploaded them to the internet, that pictures generally look that way in web browsers other than Safari, because Safari is the only major web browser (I think) that has color management software. I opened them up in Safari to check it out (I normally use Chrome), and it is true! They are a lot brighter and more fun looking in Safari (which is how they should be)! So if you look at a lot of pictures online, you may want to reconsider your browser choice. Okay, end of my PSA... on to the pictures!

My good friend Jen brought her son, Ethan, over to play today and I couldn't resist snapping some pictures of him while they played in the big grassy yard behind our apartment. He's just such a little cutie and I'm always eager to take pictures of someone other than my own son!

I'm going to be doing a full session for their entire family next month, but I thought I'd go ahead and share a few of my favorite ones of Ethan from this morning.

Josh's parents made a quick trip up to visit this weekend, and Saturday afternoon, we made a spontaneous decision to go over to the State Fair to meet up with some friends of ours. It was great to see all of them, and we are so proud of Celisa, who had three show cows in the fair and won a few awards for them, including Grand Champion for one of them. Being a former FFA girl, I would have enjoyed hanging out with the animals a little, but we were all eager to get outside and see what Jude and Crider thought about the rides. They were too little to go on any by themselves, but there were a few that we could go on with them, so we had fun riding along.

Sweet little Jude was too hot and tired by the end of the afternoon to wait patiently for the other passengers to board the train. He was fine once it started, I promise.

I was so thrilled to get a chance to visit precious one day-old little Sophia. She is beautiful, just like her mama, who was positively glowing with pride and love. She's an "old soul" kind of baby. The kind where you just feel like she is really thinking about something deep and important, and she really knows exactly what is going on around her. She knew to look at the camera when she heard it snap, and her eyes were amazingly focused for a one day-old.

Little miss Annie-Bo-Nannie just turned two and I had the wonderful privilege of photographing the event! She loves Sponge Bob right now, so it was appropriate for her to have an adorable Sponge Bob themed pool party. The decorations were adorable and festive, the food was delicious, and everyone seemed to have a really great time enjoying the nice weather, the conversation, and the kids' peals of laughter coming from the pool.

Just before Luda, the mom, scooted onto a plane headed for the US to visit her sister and parents, I had the joy of photographing this sweet and gorgeous family that we've grown to know and love over the last two years. I wanted to do it as a gift for them because Luda is going to be gone from her family for several months. Opportunities for Moldovans to visit America don't happen every day, you know, so she has to make the most of it.

It was a surprisingly hot day, for it to be only May in Moldova, and they tromped around through the tall grass with me without complaint while mosquitoes ate us all alive. They were wonderful and I will miss them very, very, very much.

Daniela has been wanting for me to take pictures of her and her husband, Valeriu, for quite some time now, but the weather hadn't been cooperating. They are our only married students at the Bible Institute, and they have become good friends of ours. Daniela learned English from watching TV with the subtitles on, which just amazes me. I really, really enjoy talking to the students in Romanian, but sometimes when I'm too tired to think well, or just feeling lazy, it's great to be able to chat with Daniela in English.

Anyway, the weather finally cooperated this week and we were able to get out after dinner and get some great shots of the two of them!

I've been working with Rachel's parents for a while now, and I was very eager to meet their "third daughter" (for a long time, they only referred to their daughters by their birth numbers because they thought we wouldn't be able to keep their names straight), who was coming to visit for the summer.

Of course, she's been awesome to get to know, and as the summer went on, I became eager to meet this Mike guy that I was hearing so much about, who would be joining all of us at the end of the summer for a vacation in Greece. He's apparently pretty special to her.

We had a great time on the beach and absolutely could not resist getting in a little photo shoot on our last day. They were SO. MUCH. FUN. to photograph. I think you'll be able to tell in the pictures.

Kentucky Event Photography | Crider's Birthday

Sweet little Crider turned one recently, and I was honored to be asked to be there among his family to help celebrate. This kid is already so hilarious and precocious... I can't wait to see how he turns out as he gets older. He loves animals, books, and puzzles, so he got a lot of them for his birthday, and he couldn't have been more thrilled. His Papaw is a farmer, and Crider loves to help out around the farm, so they had him a precious farm-themed party, complete with a farm playroom for the little ones and vintage tractor pedal cards adorning the front porch.

Just a note: He is making such a hilarious face in this last picture because I snapped it just as he was showing everyone what sound a cat makes!
