I also wish to open this subject up for input.
Personally, I have had some trouble with these fuels in my small Honda Motors. With that in mind, rather then seeking an additive, I am simply not using this type of fuel. While dredging last month in Virginia, we were forced to run the 6.5 hp Honda with the choke slightly closed. I know this can be bad for the valves but had no choice due to time restraints and our location. That fuel has now been removed and I hope the problem fixed but will not know until we fire up the four inch dredge in the spring.
Since prospecting is my bag and not tuning an internal combustion engine; I ask for anyones suggestions.

When its Freezing Outside - Prospect Inside

Too cold out there to do any prospecting; Take advantage of the weather and Prospect Indoors. By that, I mean use this time for research. Check out the intranet for historical information about local areas or any area for that matter. Right now I am reviewing records and geological reports from the Department of Mines and Minerals of Virginia. I have found old geological reports of minerals in a nearby county. These reports reveal Lode Veins, their locations and assays. In fact the report I am looking at closely even suggests where the "Intelligent Prospector" should spend their time prospecting. This information is invaluable to me and has refreshed my spirits for getting out to a new area this spring with high hopes of finding a substantial amount of Gold.

Freezing Temperatures Damage Equipment

Remember, just like your Auto, your engines and pumps need protection when stored for the Winter. Remember to keep a little antifreeze in your water pumps to keep the impellers and seals from freezing. I know, last year I forgot to drain my high banker pump and ended up this past spring with a busted imput hose fitting. Once drained, just pour a little antifreeze in the input holes and hopefully next year you will be ready to get the Gold.

Dredging and High Banking Tip for the Fall

Fall is in the air and with that comes the falling of leaves. To prevent the loss of your water supply to your pump it is imperative to use a catch screen basket to prevent the foot valve from becoming blocked. A simple technique is to use a plastic 5 gallon bucket drilled with dozens of 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch holes to house your foot valve.
Good Luck and Good AU

Wild Bill
