I did the priming and thought it looked fabulous.

But soon found out this would not be the look he was going for!

Seems like a whole lot of work to sit around and watch movies...time will tell if it is worth it!

One with the crust and one without. Seasonal fruit added and we are ready for company. Quiche is great hot, warm or cold so we are flexible. Family just needs to get here before we eat it all up!

So many spectacular views of this peaceful gem hidden amongst Douglas Fir. Pallisade Mountains frame glacier waters.

Maligne Lake was named by Father Pierre-Jean De Smet (1801–1873) and possibly French Fur Traders to describe the french word "malignant" or "wicked," due to turbulent, confluent flow to the Athabaska River. Maligne River flows into and out of the Lake from North and South ends.

Maligne Lake is approximately 22.5 km (14.0 mi) long and is 97 m (318 ft) at its deepest point, in the south end of the lake. It averages 35 m (115 ft) in depth.

Easy to see why Settlers decided to stay in the area. Views are breath taking and well worth the winding 44km drive south of Jasper town.

Another school year over. 2015 included teaching/therapy for a special needs school with Junior High students and began a Masters of Counseling Psychology Degree with Yorkville University. The year included a move back to Okotoks, and a new dog named Braxton. In spring this photo was taken while touring the NW coast of California.

Thirty years in education has been a path of Life Long Learning. It has brought me joy seeing students embrace their learning. It has shown me good teachers who care for others and work steadfast to plan for student success. It has brought me through all grades from Kindergarten to High School, teaching all levels and working as Principal and Assistant Principal in public, private and federal reserve schools. My lastest position running Fort McMurray's Public School District Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative has encouraged entrepreneurial spirit in First Nation's and Metis youth. So now I will take the next step. A leap of faith. I will venture into unknown waters. Boldly going where I have not yet been. Today I will build a website for Wildflowerfox Healing Arts. Raw Raw Chickee Ball Cookies - By Wildflowerfox

Yields 12 balls

Ingredients
1 16 ounce can of cooked chickpeas, rinsed and drained
3 Tablespoons raw organic honey
1 Tablespoon coconut sugar
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
4 Tablespoons raw organic almond butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
Pinch of himalayan salt
1 1/2 cups vegan chocolate chips

Method

1. Combine chickpeas, honey, sugar, baking soda, almond butter, vanilla, and a pinch of salt in a food processor and process until smooth. 

2. Remove to a bowl and stir in half a cup of the chocolate chips. Form into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-paper lined baking sheet. Freeze until solid. 

3. In a double boiler, melt remaining cup of chocolate chips. Dip the balls into the chocolate until covered, then place back on parchment-paper lined baking sheet. Freeze until chocolate has hardened, then store at room temperature.

Last week of work at Fort Mc Murray Public School District. High School Exams are finishing up. Paul Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative complete for this term. I will miss the students and people I have met in this area.

Dorothy McDonald was chief of Fort McKay First Nation between 1980 and 1986. She made many improvements in the quality of life for her people. She worked to develop such services as a sewage system, water treatment plant, upgraded roads and improved housing. She also initiated the Fort McKay Group of Companies in the mid 80's which now earns more than 2$million a month.

As a "keeper of the Land" McDonald said, When you walk the good road, you know what is right. Your spirituality guides you and anything is possible,"

May Fort Mc Murray, Fort Chipewyan and Fort Mc Kay continue to prosper. May people make good choices for the earth and for each other. The oil sands is not the place for me. But it is a great resource for Canadians. As long as we are mindful that the Earth is generous with its bounty; how can we be good stewards? Can we save some resources for our children's children? Can we find new ways to energize? Do we need to take it all right now? I hope we will be like Chief McDonald and use our resources wisely with out polluting the environment which we have depended on for centuries. Chief McDonald said, " If you take care of the land, it will take care of you."

Seeing that my relationship with my Smart phone has become too codependent, I'm on a mission to change the way I fill in the gaps during the day.

Strategy #1

No phone at the table with friends and family. Enjoy their company. Listen and share sincerely.

Strategy #3
Give the phone a rest while in bathroom. Need I say more?

Strategy #4

No phone on dog walk... (Tweak that!)bring digital camera instead.

Strategy#5
Phone in glove box during commute. People can wait. Safety First.
No point in becoming another statistic.

Strategy#6
When travelling, pull over to a rest stop and bring out the digital camera. It takes better landscape shots than the smart phone and you will avoid window spots from rain, bugs;or in this Canadian's case, snow on the photo.

Strategy #7

Lights off for bed. No scrolling or texting. Set alarm on and other alerts off.
Have a pleasant, undistracted sleep.

Easter time has brought us another year to celebrate the new growth in our lives and those around us. It is a time to watch, to be aware that seasons come and go whether we are ready for them or not. My grandmother celebrated her 102nd birthday on April Fool's day. I think she has fooled us all! She certainly knows some tricks for longevity.

At Easter we celebrate the Life, Death & Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Pagan beliefs also are honored as we celebrate the new life seen in Spring.

Marble eggs are treasures found at a garage sale many years ago.

This bunny was collected for one of the kids a few Easters back.

Love Birds (salt and pepper anniversary gift from hubby) proudly nest on the dining room table.

The Lily represents spiritual awareness as well as the totem flower of mothers.

Easter brings hope for a season filled with new beginnings. A time to create new moments, as well as memories for a lifetime. Spring brings joy to our lives.

"5 bucks a square foot," they said at the Home and Garden Show. So we sanded the floor ourselves.

About 3 days and 3 coats of polyurethane and we got it done.

Spring break has begun! Being home provides an opportunity to clean the house and clear out the clutter. Today was warm enough to open the patio doors and let the dogs enjoy the sunny deck. Finally some sunshine and plus 12. Recycling of cardboard complete. Mulch was sent to the town compost bin thanks to my two sons. 7 bags yesterday and 6 more today. This spending time at home routine is hard work! Managed to dust, vacuum and scrub some of the winter away. Lets hope it stays that way for quite some time.

Took a drive out to Waterton National Park today. Blue sky and dry pavement led the way for the Mustang to cruise. Got to the park and found that they shut everything down and pretty much shovel their way around all winter. Not a lot happening but the scenery was strategic.

Gone were the pedestrians shopping for ice cream. Instead creamy banks of snow pushed their way up to the windows and roofs of the cabins.

At the edge of the lake the snow crystals are as smooth as sand. It is almost a believable beach scene until you step out of the vehicle and are greeted with a chilling wind that is well known to the people of the Pincher Creek and Waterton area.

Victoria Day weekend the shops will open up and I hope to come back and enjoy this serene location once more.

Improving my nutrition
With a little love n help from a Nutritional Consultant/Sport Trainer, I am on a quest to improve my diet and increase fitness. Perhaps I will also lose unwanted pounds. Time will tell but the withdrawal from coffee and green tea today showed me I am off to a good start in changing some of the ways I consume calories and unwanted chemicals,hormones, etc.
