We have had some unseasonably warm days and have moved from frost protection in the strawberries to evaporative cooling. The strawberry blossoms are monitored for temperatures above 88 degrees and at that point over head irrigation is turned on intermittently.

The strawberries are ripening. We picked seven flats yesterday. We have not officially opened yet but should in the next few days.

The blueberries have lots of fruit and at this point it looks like a good crop. The blackberries are blooming now.

See you soon!

This warm weather has caused the phone to ring a lot. Everyone wants to know when the strawberries will be ready and what activities we currently have. Well, we actually picked two strawberries today but the crop is still about 10-14 days out. As you can see from the picture, the strawberries look very nice and the plants large. We have already mowed the middles twice. We hope the weather the next few days is not too brutal.

We have also finished pruning the grapes and I think after three pruning classes at the Clarksville Fruit substation we are finally getting it. It is so hard to cut plants back, especially when you see fruit.

The last exciting event is our new donkey. A new baby was born last weekend and it is so cute.

This year we have added baby goats, chicks, rabbits, puppies, and the donkey.

See you at the farm.
