I am happy to announce that I have been asked to exhibit my work at the Franklin County Arts Alliance in Mt Vernon, Texas.

I have 33 pieces of art selected to go to the exhibit. Works from Abstract to Impressionism will be featured and my mediums

range from Oil, Pastel and Watermedia. All works will be for sale. I hope all of you that are in the North Texas area will come by.

Pastel Painting

How to Use a Large Abstract Shape to Begin The Design

Working on Wallis Sanded Paper

Blocking in a loose abstract shapes which contrast light and dark.

I am using an abstract block letter Y on this one.

The block in is using nupastels in a dark green, a dark blue and a violet red.

Now I lightly worked alcohol into the pastel underpainting to set it in.

I also let it drip and run together to create some beginning textures.

At this step, I just wanted to create some more texture with some marks.

I used a palette knife to do this.

At this stage I added color. Loose board strokes to suggest more than describe.

In a small study, I probably would have stopped with this. I think it describes a mood and

gives enough information to describe the scene.

At this point, it is time to stop and look.

I like to place a mat around the painting and walk off.

I will come back and look with a fresh eye to evaluate my design.

Hill Country Workshop in August

I am happy to announce a new workshop in the Texas Hill Country hosted by Painted Views Ranch. This is a beautiful ranch and workshop facility that offers beautiful scenery for the plein air painters. We will not be painting outdoors. It can get really hot in August, so we will be inside. But we will be inspired by the views to create beautiful abstract impressions. All registrations are through Painted Views Ranch.

My friends and I are planning this year March trip to Big Bend.

I will be back in the Hill Country in August giving a workshop on Abstracted Landscapes.

I am offering studio classes tailored to fit your needs. From beginners to more advanced students that want to hone skills or try a new medium.

Students will work in the medium of their choice, pastel, oil, watercolor or acrylic.

A perfect plan to try a new medium without investing in a ton of supplies. I will furnish supplies to use in class for a small supply fee each lesson.

Of course since this is in my studio, this class is right for those within the local area. I am looking forward to having some great students in the studio with me.

I will have 2 two day classes each month. One will be for watercolor students and the other will be for oil painting students.

I will demo each class and students will begin their painting the first day and have guidance finishing on the second day.

A Trip to Mrs. Lee's Daffodil Garden

Last Sunday, my friends and I spent a lovely afternoon taking photos at Mrs. Lee's Daffodil Gardens. On the 918 acre farm, approximately 28 acres are cover in Daffodils during mid February to mid March. We arrived at the optimum time, the blooms had just fully opened. What a glorious site. Along the 4 miles trail one can't help but get in touch of the beauty and glory of nature. Nestled along a hillside is the cabin built by Mrs. Lee in the 1950's . Which holds a history lesson she wished to leave to all children
